@Audio Community it is not possible at the moment. I recommend going straight to HS8 though
HS7 is good, much better than HS5 for example, but HS8 is by far the best of HS series. Best bass response and most neutral, linear sound

God, surprised with Edifier but the win definitely goes to Yammy for sure. Although, at the checkout position, I'd be driving home with the Edifiers.....

Thanks DS. HS8 mids and highs have a bit more clarity. But its surprisingly close in the mids, maybe a slight advantage to Edifier on vocals and violin.
the edifier is IDEAL for the TV and movies due its OPTICAL input..has bluetooth also .

Tune your room for better results before rushing out to get the biggest boomiest speaker (Spoiler! These are) and these edifiers are something you'll come to appreciate for their price.
The Yamaha's (Atleast in my entirely non-scientific real world listening at a friend's studio-studio) sound better.
But better is subjective. The HS8's are a tool that have some innate qualities as per their claim of being "monitors"
You gotta hear it to believe it, but even 99 personus's (Owned a few years ago) immediately CAN make you think you haven't heard this type of audio delivery before. Mainly, for me that has to do with the separation of the sound firing from each of the speakers. Pretty dope, its a bit of an experience.
But surely these edifiers, especially if you don't intend to sit at the desk and blast them too close to yourself, offer up something different. Something average consumer-centric. With these there's a feeling. Idk if this would be relatable, but they sound like they look. The "type" of sound is from 12 years ago. That isn't a jab at these btw, I found it to be an unexpected, but welcome reminiscent of what I or you may have heard in our yesteryears at the warehouse, club, cafe, etc.
So that's kind of it. These are good value, with proportional quality.
in my region, the pair is equivalent to a single unit of M-Audio's BX5.
(Have had some exp. with those too off and on)
Does these sound "better" ? Certainly not. Because they're differing ballgames.
The edifiers are meant to go in your dorm, your den, your study, not on your computer/work desk.
Whilst the Yamaha's, M-audio, Presonus and such go in the purpose built, meticulously crafted
audio-workflow dependent environment.
i Hope this helps someone make or break their purchase decision someday.

Fantastic, proffesional channel! After watching this comparison I bought Edifier R2750DB :) In Poland Yamaha's speakers are allmost 2,5 more expensive than Edifier. For me they sound great!

PS.: Retro Wave has never sounded better than on the R2750DB - and I think that really says something about their character!

HS8's are definitely better imo, have more clarity in mids and highs. But the r2750's are in a completely different price range so it's to be expected, nevertheless the r2750's are an awesome choice.

Checking out low budget 8" studio monitors I realized that the old but probably still good Behringer B2031A sell now for 299 a pair at Thomman. Is there a chance of a review on those?
Edifier is amazing. It gives really clear sound, good seperation between different frequency sounds. Amazing crisp high frequency trebles. I noticed that is likes to pull the mids towards 2-3k rather than stay in the 1k range. That's the advantage of yamaha. If you like rock, and vocals, definitely Yamaha. Edifier is also good, but yamaha is one step ahead.
Yeah....yamaha is better but you should consider the price too...i think yamaha price is much higher than edifier....around 150 dollars more here in India
Ive got a question, my midtoner on the active monitor (R2750DB) is damn stiff and vibrating way less compared to its counterpart on the passive monitor... i did a frequency test to tickle the midtoners, and let dozens of tracks play throug, but i can not hear a sound difference between left and right. Could this stiff midtoner become an probleme... or is it already one, or doesnt it really matter? I can still send the pair back, but do i need to? Using them in a 30qm living room.
Most precise highs on the Edifiers on most tracks that really reaches 20khz flat compared to other brands that cannot reach that frequency.. ♥
That's because the Edifier is 3 way design speakers.
Would it be possible to do CAV FD 20 ? CAV makes high end speakers for the eastern market but are not well known.
So Far the Focal Alpha 50 and Yamaha HS8 have had best crystal mid and clear tight base! just what i look for in a playback monitor
Good old 3-way gets the job done, edifier is great for the money.

Thanks DS! How come, Metal Head track sounds so weird and dirty on speakers against source? (On every test video exactly) But Mortals or Howling sounds so crispy and awesome both, even on edifier's cut ass. I'm testing on s-r hd569 headphones.

they are so close, I'd go for the edifier simply because they are much cheaper, offer more features and what didn't get picked up well in this video is that yamaha are quite brash sounding in an untreated room.
Edifier sonds very similar, but the 8" of yamaha won.
Fair test should be hs7vs edifier.

Hello! I use the Edifier R2750db on optical(connected via TV). I also have an external audio card (Lexicon Alpha 2.0). Does the sound get better using the external soundcard using RCA? Thank you!
Maybe is too late but it might help somebody. My tv has exactly the same sound quality at optical out vs headphones. So i put an equalizer between headphones exit and speakers and the sound is much better. And i can adjust the volume with Tv's remote control . With optical out only speakers remote can adjust the volume
First the piano get more body from HS8 and the second stage better, wider, sum close to the original. thx the comp. Edifier mid 2-3KHz little bit much. HS8 not perfect but here is better. True it's a studio monitor speaker not a hifi, but in this test better:-)

me gustan los bajos de las Yamaha aunque son similares en ambos pero el balance y el equilibro de las edifier es mas notable, las edifier al ser de tres vias tiene mas presencia en todas su frecuencias por lo tanto es mas rico de escuchar, en lo personal yo usaria las yamaha para oir musica electronica, hiphop o rap pero las edifier las usaria para oir, jazz, blues, musica clasica, rock o cualquier genero con recursos musicales mas extensos.
not so difference in quality than the the difference in price. I suppose that the aplicabilty is the key because one doubles the output watts to the other. Yami for big rooms and Edi for smaller ones.
What about the new Edifier r2850db? They now have an 8' subwoofer instead of the 6.5 woofer unit :O
FYI r2850 is r2800's update, not r2750db's (which is r2700's update). r2800's been having 8'' woofer for almost a decade now. :D

I live in a country where a pair of Edifier R2800 have equal price with a pair of Yamaha HS7. I thought HS7 is a cheap speaker everywhere :D
Clean tight base will make you or break you.....the yamaha HS8 is excellent on this test
It's bass and the R2850DB is a better match, not the R2750DB.

2 altavoces para los agudos,
2 altavoces para los medios y 2 altavoces para medios graves.
Sólo faltaría añadirle 2 subwoofer t5 y sería completo.
HS8 are a little bit closer to source than the R2750DB
BUT HS8 are double the price of R2750DB, so if you don't need the maximum sound fidelity, the R2750DB are a no brainer

Edifier wins for me. Their response is pretty similar except for the very high end where the edifiers are more laid back. Plus on top of that yamahas use that crappy aluminum tweeter that gives you a headache after 5 minutes.

Must say it is a weird comparison with Norwegian prices at least, the 2750DB Edifiers are 2500 nok for both, Yamaha HS8 x 1 is 3500k so its like comparing a Prius with a Audi S5

The Eddys are great for the money but those HS8s are miles better to my ear.
Yamaha goes deeper... But edifier sounds more balanced over all because of the mids...
So compare 2 Speakers (R2750DB) for around 260€ with a Yamaha HS8, also around 260€ but for One Speaker. Very fair^^

DS has some comparisons with klipsch speakers.
Metal head guitars sound much better on HS8 and almost identical to the source.
When I tried these out in a store I passed, but I did note they were godly for guitars.
Who hisses less?

I measured 2750 some time ago and got results very similiar to what we see in this video. Sound is very detailed but not balanced at all. You can not get good sound of Edifier without equalizing it.
Or you could open them and install some polyfill and then extend the bass tube outward 2 or 3 cm plus make its diameter slightly smaller (with a toilet paper tube)=> lower bass port tuning.
The results are simply amazing!
@@ChargedCMOS not too many people even know about the bigger R2800 model ... i'm not sure where to even buy it anymore ... if only they added the 2750bt's upgraded tweeter and BT capability to it would've been amazing.

What a load of horse shit. You cant good sound with edifiers without equalization? Bollocks. Any speaker will benefit from equalization depending on the room, the r2750db is one of the best sounding speakers edifier has produced.
Those Yamaha are great and better than the Edifier. But a single one costs more than a pair of Edifiers...
I'm only watching this because I've just got the edifier r2750db speakers so I can finally know what they sound like on this video (how the hell else would anyone know). These sound tests are pointless if you don't own the speakers being tested.
Unfortunately true.. Coloration and fuzziness from room response is very strong here. You can even notice that the same speaker model sound in newer comparsions differently than in older tests, what is confirmed even by response graphs..🙄😃

I just bought these Edifiers. I guess all active speakers are the same. Good for the money but low overall sound quality. They lack something. Even through equalizer some sounds are not aa loud as the others. Bass, trebles and mids are not the best friends and everybody is trying just for themselves. They are not a team working in harmony as it should. Of course for these brainwashed kids listening trap or party music anything that can deliver bass is good but for real music they are far from real sound systems

А что это за прикол, в наушника когда звучит оригинал он всегда шире и насыщенный звук, инструменты играют как реальные, а как начинаются записи колонок, сцена сужается инструменты мертвые.. звуки инструментов становятся как подобие или гибридные
