  • Join me on my Onewheel for a 5 mile 15 minute hunt for any Matter Out Of Place, aka MOOP, aka trash. Spoiler alert: there's less trash in Black Rock City than in your city!! Don't believe me? Then you probably live in a wilderness preserve.
Do what we do here and Leave No Trace in your own neighborhood. Pick up trash and watch your block become a better place to live. You'll actually meet your neighbors and some of them will join you and start picking up trash too! That's how it works here and it can work that way in your neighborhood, sporting event, or church group also.
💚 Please like and subscribe!!! 💚

I went to Burning Man in 2004 when I was 23, and it was an amazing, insane experience! I didn't fully appreciate it until I was back home, but it was something that everybody should do at least once in their life. This years Burn has really re-awakened my memories, and I'm glad that people are still enjoying it to this day. Cheers!

I love it that most people are probably thinking he is looking for regular sized pieces of trash to pick up but in reality he is probably looking for micro sized pieces of moop as it usually is by the end of the event. Pretty amazing how there is no moop left stuck in what was wet mud.

It’s interesting…while I was there my camp mates and I we’re picking up the tiniest pieces of fuzz left on the playa and I don’t think people realize how hardcore the cleaning there actually is. I just noticed a trail of abundant trash heading to the grocery store. I never noticed before. It’s pretty much everywhere and we’re so immune to it. BM teaches you to be more aware.

Great video 👍 I've been burning since 2012. Missed being home 2020 and 2021. I couldn't be there this year (still wish I'd been there!) But I'll be back next year. The msm journalism scares away the tourists, but it also exaggerates and blew the situation out of proportion. I just tell folks, read the website & survival guide. Talk to experienced burners, be prepared. Come with an open mind and heart. See you back home next year 🔥)'(🔥

I understand they pick up the trash and dump it all on communities like Reno and other local cities, totaly overwhelming their resources. I would much prefer if they humped it all back home and dumped in the trash at their own home. Also the playa will never be as pristine as it would have been if the burners never came. Man changes things, no matter how he tries his activities disrupt the envitonment.

Mike, I literally just came in the door from my local park, after picking up trash their around benches, swings and plantings. - I was so excited to see your vid subject and saddled up to your bike for a ride when at 2:43 (front left) you biked past a dusty mucky old work grove. I couldn't help but watch to see if you biked over the mate! Nailed it ....
(3 secs later)not the mate, but something "Moopy" - Hey, it would be fun to do a live stream and try to find all the stuff your "eagle eye" missed. - Not a troll, just someone fresh and stinky from my local park picking up trash and sure I missed something too! But that glass cracked crack pipe under the park bench? It's in the trash where a dog or kid or granny won't step on it.

We have carnival in my country and honestly, this way is better where it is outside civilization so to speak. Otherwise, business here have to set up by putting up barricades around their buildings days beforehand otherwise, they would have paint and glitter sploches everywhere. If you look at the pavements, you can see permanent drill holes embedded so that the barriers can be put up and down every year. Then it takes days for it to get taken down. So the parade routes look like a boarded up shanty town until it is over. haha
And if you live on or near streets that are used for the parades, (I do), it means that driving in or out of your place is a usually a no-go. Since it is only for two days, it isn't too much of a problem but it can be inconvenient. But there have been instances of people romping on people's cars parked on side streets and homeowner's walls being defaced. And then of course, persons really close to the action have to deal with piss smells despite the presence of porta potties. I mean, think about the movie Rio and the carnival as portrayed and really think about what living inside that actually means when a substantial proportion of the participants are pissing drunk. lol.
Clean up is work - the officials here start promptly at midnight when it is officially over and do a great job sweeping and washing down the streets and gathering discarded costumes. Of course, they also have persons doing trash pickup throughout. But as the years pass, routines develop.

    • @maddmikemu

There was very little not already picked up before the rain. Most people pick up any trash we see as we go along, so it stays clean until the last weekend when all the weekend warriors show up and make their mess. They couldn't get in this year and the rain happened before they arrived, so much less mess.

I really appreciate this video. It’s true there are issues for waste and sustainability gaols being met - we all have to participate in MOOPing - however, eapecially after the biblical floods you’ve all experienced this year; thank goodness it passed, it’s heartwarming to see my home in the dust be returned to it’s natural state by solid burners such as yourself. Thank you for doing this clean up and sharing your / buringman core message to us all here in the default world! Your right. Clean your own home and community first and share in your journey with your neighbours. Here’s to the greater community of this pale blue dot. We can collectively come together with love and compassion for our spaceship amongst the stars! Peace brother burner x

Self-righteous commenters who have never attended this event and are smugly spewing negativity : When you point a finger at someone three point back at you. Do you Not make ANY rubbish yourself, daily?! If you’re not part of the solution you’re part of the problem. Rubbish is a global problem everywhere- have you ever seen the beaches of Bali? At least here in Black Rock Desert there are massive collective efforts to remove rubbish. I mooped my camp at our strike on Tuesday morning, and I also mooped the porta potties at 8:30 & G as best as I could, and I also mooped our neighbors’ camps after their strikes. Every little bit helps.

I only watched a couple min and seen large tarps, bicycles, storage boxes still there ????

    • @DonoVideoProductions
      @DonoVideoProductions 10 місяців тому +4

They're still breaking down the larger installations, and those boxes will be removed by larger trucks. Complete breakdown takes over a month, including Earth Guardians gridding off for systematic cleanup of anything larger than a flake of glitter. People cannot expect instant cleanup with such a huge event.
Bikes? Yes. People lose them on the playa at night. They cannot find them again in the mornjng. The diameter of the Playa is 2 miles. Quite easy to misplace your bike. And yes, some people leave derelict bikes. Burning Man staff go through and pick them all up. Some are refurbished and recycled locally. This is not new, nor unexpected. People are people in the end, aren't they, and some won't wear masks, or clean up after themselves?
And I watched through carefully. If you enlarge the video, you will see that what you thought was trash (I did too at first) is actually powder drifts of Playa dust. It looks like rags on the ground as he skims by.
