The price on these are ridiculous 😂. What makes them better then Eskimo, Ottet, Or Clam hubs and shelters to be $1500?

Team Overland uses these pods as space for veterans that go camping. They are surprisingly warm during winter.

I love the fact that Shift Pod has already been tested in so many great locations and conditions; King of the Hammers and Burning Man, (and I just learned that it was born at Burning Man) and used for mountain climbing and emergency rescues situations and disaster relief.
THAT'S exactly what I've been looking for for so many years for 20 years now -the perfect, absolute PERFECT FOUR Season tent shelter for emergency situations and my gosh, you've designed and built exactly what I wanted, what I had envisioned / designed in my head!! Carbon graphite struts and hubs, YKK zippers etc top quality materials everything space blanket materials for reflecting Heat and cold; "Space Age Materials for Space Age Conditions!!!"
Yes definitely the same concept as my Gazelle T4 tent, which is great!

Excellent overview of the ShiftPod and great idea to just try breaking it down with no instruction. The build idea is quite similar, as another commenter mentioned, to the Gazelle I just got. The ShiftPod, however, is clearly a whole other level of shelter. I definitely eyed the ShiftPod Mini before deciding upon the Gazelle...cost and bulk really being the only issues for me; these seem to be remarkably well thought out and very well built. The superfast setup and teardown is really a game-changer for ground tents...I had previously sworn I would never use a ground tent again, but here I am excited to return to tent camping. :-) Nice work Ed!
softroadingthewest thanks Donald. It definitely does seem to be built very similarly to the gazelle tent you have . I’ve heard many great things about the gazelle tents , and have yet to see one in person (maybe I’ll get to check yours out soon), but with that said, these shift pods are also very solid tents (does have more bulk as you mentioned)

This bears a passing similarity to my Gazelle T4 tent how the sides pop in and out, the ease of setup and dissasembly, and the length. Good video!
Raymond Belair the design is very similar. I believe the main difference is the material used
@@KrokemOutdoors I agree that they are similar but at first Gazelle the material and it seems that the objective is also different. I understand that Gazelle is like for park or more or less normal citations and this would really be an all terrain and circumstance.
I do not know how the customer service is, but at least the Gazelle is very bad, I received a defective product and they only gave me evasions not to respond with a positive solution.

I just got the new Shiftpod 3. So far I have only been testing it out in the back yard. This seems to be a fine shelter with a couple of minor issues. Most notable so far is the condensation. Full disclsure, I did set it up right after it snowed, while there was still a couple inches of snow on the ground, AND it snowed after I set it up. First mistake is I should have shoveled the snow either out of the footprint, or out the doors after setup. Then, don't zip in the floor until after the remaining snow melts. The condensation on the floor was so bad, it was like walking through a layer of water, and the walls and ceiling were saturated. I spent the night in it last night with no snow, but below freezing. The condensation reoccurred, but not nearly as bad. Keep sleeping bags and such a couple of inches away from walls and you should be fine. Next is the entrance door, and this 'complaint' would be applicable mostly to people like me. In other words, crippled with some significant foot and back issues. All that being said, I was sleeping in it with a dog, and a Big Buddy Heater set to low. I had one window partially open, and two vent holes open. I also had a fan mounted in the top center blowing down. During this test, the temps outside were about 25 degrees, while the temps inside stayed around 50-60 degrees. Bottom line, I like the tent so far, and am anxious to see how it performs in the hot sun and wind.
We do NOT recommend using a buddy heater. When you burn propane it puts off a tremendous amount of moisture. This along with the moisture in your exhalation condenses on the cold walls and can be enough to cause it to "rain" in any sealed structure like the SHIFTPOD. Not only is this uncomfortable, but when you pack up early without airing out, you trap all of that moisture in the SHIFTPOD and then if you go right into storage without drying.... it will mildew and run your equipment. Just say no to burning propane inside.

Love the channel of course camping videos are awesome I’ve camped my whole life from tent to camper . Now wanting to get into over land camping or just getting out for the weekend. I’d like to upgrade my vehicle I have a small suv do you have any recommendations . This would be my daily driver as well . Thanks again for great content I did watch your last recent videos. The bag could serve a dual purpose as a sleeping bag/bivvy.

I finally hook the tv up to UA-cam. Nice video and I like that tent for hot camping but I could not tell if it had a floor.
Rogue Life the ones I saw did have a floor that could be zipped to the tent.
How easy is it to heat in the winter and how well does it hold up to snow being on top of it and have you thought about putting a flap to cover the velcro area to keep the rain from coming in when you hook them together.

I had a Shiftpod 2. It was quality. However, for Overlanding it was overkill and heavy. I sold it and went with a Gazelle. I have nothing bad to say about the shiftpod, other than size and weight.
I contacted Shiftpod regarding cleaning these and haven't received a reply back yet. Any ideas regarding cleaning these, especially when they get the old tent smell? Wondering what's the gentlest way to clean without dealing with. Also, was wondering if something like the nanosilver hunting blind decenters will help prevent odor once cleaned again and is a great idea for those with new units to consider spraying down with at first to prevent the odor and germs colonizing. Something to consider for more humid environments since probably not as big a deal out west unless in the monsoon season I guess? Anyhow, wanting to pressure wash mine to clean... plus I need to do some repairs also so want clean thorough before doing so. Also, I'm thinking about some upgrades and wondering how Type 1 or Type 2 Silicone will perform with the materials long term. Thanks for sharing!

Is this tent soundproof as well? Looking for an insulated tent to use as an outdoor office as a full time rv’er. I’m on a lot of conf calls when I work during the day and looking for something that would block out sound.

John Doe it is rainproof as a stand-alone. It’s just the tunnel sections that connect the two tents that may leak. But the tent itself should stay dry inside

As an idea and structure it is excellent. The quality also seems very good to me. The SHIFTPODIII-XL would be my target, especially thinking of emergencies and complementary to the CVT RTT that I currently have. Excellent thinking of a base camp, radio station and even when we can collaborate for rescue activities, fires or other times. I must admit that the dimensions are perfect.
However, it seems to me that they have two problems, one less serious than the other, the first is the color, I do not understand exactly why they have to be silver, perhaps a military green, orange like the one used in some missions to the snow or so they would seem like better alternatives.
But the biggest problem is the price, thinking that they are not waterproof and that, according to the video, some water seeps into the joints, the cost of $ 2,500 and on sale $ 2,000 is exaggerated, at least for a person who does not You have an organization that buys it for you.
Pindal Mapu thanks for your feedback! The shiftpod doesn’t leak into the tent, but only at the Velcro section where you attach multiple tents together. The “tunnel” attachment.
@@KrokemOutdoors Thanks Edward, if I never saw the video a couple of times and if I saw that it is just the tunnel, we should still try it in a storm to see how it behaves.
In summary I think the product is good, but unfortunately it is still very expensive.
The SHIFTPOD is water tight. The joint between the tunnels in velcro and there is no way other than a $200 water-proof zipper to make it water tight. As for the cost... you get what you pay for. :)
Interesting. Has anyone tested these for long-term durability? Like, could you set up one, and leave it up for a year and have it survive? Or do they deteriorate over time?
Doctor Obvious that’s a great question. I’m not sure, but the build quality is amazing on these, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they lasted a while. They’re currently also used overseas as shelters

I live in Tucson Arizona in a tent it is just a Ozark trail tent from Walmart and if you have any interest in send me one I can't afford to buy it I would be more than happy to try it out and post a review for you I'm sorry I can't purchase one right now but as I've lost my job and I've been out of work for a year and a half and still trying to find a new job I just can't come up with the money to buy one

I like the tent overall but I don't like the color of it it sticks out too much and you can't keep the rain out of it which is a downfall for me

That thing is an eye sore. Doesn't look like it will hold up in the wind either.

I just found the shift pod a week ago because I was looking for the absolute BEST Four Season shelter because I want to combine it with my invention, a Rocket Stove
(in the-ground) Earthen Thermal Mass Heating System! It will heat a 100 +/- shelter easily, AND
It will help keep it cool in summer also because Earth temps are always lower than ambient temperature...

charged me up and set me on a course that's included a website, a book, and a UA-cam channel ALL with the same name; How To Get Out Of Babylon and ALL trying to figure out how to help homeless people in horrible and emergency situations.
I think this is what I've come to other than building houses underground we need to have some shelter that will absolutely stand up to high winds and snow and ice and extreme temperatures; we will see heat and cold and this is like the most PERFECT thing I've ever found;
