Hey! After a lot of trial and error here are a couple of additional tips that I found: It seems that if you set quality to Automatic Best the quality of the video looks much higher, no blurr or pixelation. Set the Key Frames to 1. Leaving it on automatic seems to introduce visual glitches especially if there is a lot of fast movement. Mostly aplicable to motion graphics. And lastly, when the format is set to QuickTime and rendered as h.264 or h.265 then it becomes impossible to download it to your iPhone. Especially if the resolution is higher than 1080p. But if format is set to MP4 the video works with iPhones as well at no loss to quality. Hope this helps to those who are struggling to get their footage ready for social media!
I tend to prefer the encoding profile to be in 10 bit. So I choose Main 10 on the encoding profile dropdown menu choice. - Main 10 profile supports up to 10 bits per sample, which allows up to 1024 shades and over 1 billion colors.
You are on my mind…..I turned from premiere to DaVinci and you have saved me on the past with your exports for instagram and for UA-cam on premiere and now I wondered which export settings on DaVinci !and you give me the answer!!!
Thank you for adding DaVinci Resolve to your "Editor How-to" videos. And thanks for including an instructions pdf with the free preset download as I'm new to Resolve. Your tips on H.265 vs H.264 are really helpful too.
Thanks Matt! The loss of contrast and saturation once the file is uploaded to UA-cam is still a bitter pill to swallow. The difference from the export is quite significant. Any workarounds? I think I've tried everything...
If we speek about best quality possible, would you change these settings? Encoding profile: Main or high Data Levels: Auto, Video or Full Checkbox: Forse sizing to highest Quality Checkbox: Forse debayer to highest Quality
Hi there, I'm curious because UA-cam recommends you upload videos in the MP4 and H.264 codec, will I have a problem with reaching an audience if I upload in .MOV at H.265?
I need help! I'm on the studio version of DaVinci and no matter what config I set up on export, it simply WON'T give me the option to limit the bitrate to any amount under quality (auto). I can't uncheck the circle, the limit option is not grayed out, it ISN'T THERE. So frustrating. Any advice?
Love to see you doing these resolve tutorials! Unfortunately I did know this information already but it was still a pleasure to watch the entire thing! Keep up the good work sir!
Just found your channel and subscribed. Super! Clear and concise explanation for 4K export and also greatly appreciate the template you have provided. Jan Armor
Isn't variable bitrate better to get smaller file sizes while keeping quality high? With any project, you don't necessarily need constant bitrate when there's less information to render, so variable will lower the bitrate at that point and then go back up when needed. Right?
I keep my timeline in 1080p for quicker editing and export in UHD with no issues.. I restrict to Quality at 120000 as I use 60FPS, So I could try the 150K. Encoding Profile is Main10 for 10bit. Tuning I have set to High Quality. I also enable network Optimization if I have any issues in uploading.
Hello Matt, I'm struggling with the fact that videos which I upload to UA-cam are only processed in SD and HD quality but not in 4K. I have now used the same settings as you recommended and it still doesn't work. What am I doing wrong?
@@whoismatt For example, when I make a video with my iPhone and upload it directly to UA-cam, the SD, HD and 4K icons appear in the details of the video in UA-cam Studio in the Video Quality section right from the start. HD and 4K flash until the corresponding quality has been processed, then they stop flashing. However, when I cut and edit videos in DaVinci Resolve and then load them into UA-cam after exporting them, I only get the SD and HD icons but not 4K right from the start and also not later. What could be the reason for this?
Hey Matt! thank you for this video! I have a question: I am working now on a MacBook Pro and I don't see the encoder setting to switch to NVIDIA and I don't see the Rate Controls Settings. I have the Studio Version so I am a little bit confused. Can Somebody help me?
Matt, excellent all your videos, thanks to you I have learned many things, I honestly congratulate you. Do you think you can help us with this same video but exporting it in 4k for Instagram from Final Cut Pro X?
Hello sir. Just shoot a video edit it using DaVinci. Render it. It’s appears to be all black. It’s plays normal. When comparing to other videos on UA-cam could see the thumbnail colored as well. Could explain plz thanks
Thanks for these easy to follow insights. Since I am new to DaVinci: Why not simply export with the UA-cam default settings (the tab on the top right)? What's the main difference or downside? Also: What's the LUFS value with the Custum Export (compared to the UA-cam default)?
Thank you for this tutorial. It's funny because I have "automatic subtitles " to understand better (my English is not very good) and UA-cam AI translates "Davinci Resolve" as "Dove into yourself"...
hey Matt. Firstly you missed out at the lonely hearts film camp :P Also. Im a M2 Macbook Pro user with Da Vinci Paid. I'm experiencing desaturated and decontrasted images upon export. Wondering if you have experienced this and/or have a solution? Thanks x
The FX30 had an update, and now it can shoot DCI. Should I have the settings as 4096x2160, or 3840x2160? Since people say it's not a real cinema camera and I'm new at this, it would be great to know. Thanks in advance!
Constant bitrate? Can you imagine how big would be a file size in comparison with VR? And this not optimal 4K UHD settings. They watch your vids on smartphone and not too many ppl have the fastest internet connection. I have the fastest, but I am not able to play 4K UHD all the time. 😊
I dont have constant bitrate on 19.. Keeps making alot of my 4K videos 15mbps ( i knows its dark contrasty now I probably dont need the original 65mbps but 15mbps seems so low. )
I have a doubt. I have a video from my phone for a Instagram reel and for a UA-cam Short. To revamp the quality I used DaVinci. But, when I export them, they have a big black frame with my video a small chunk in between. How do I change that?
Hey matt great video as always. You mention that The CBR options are only supported with strong GPUs. I have a powerful one but don't have the option. is it only available in the paid version of the program? thanks!
got a M1 Max Studio with a kind of powerful gpu but i also don't have the option while using the payed version of davinci. My Windows PC on the other hand has this option: GPU RTX3060
Don’t forget on deliver page, change colorspace to P3-DCI and gamma tag to Rec.709. This will keep your colors consistent from what you saw while grading and what gets exported.
no no no... wtf... are you genuinely ignorant on color management or do you deliberately want to derail people? to anyone: if you work in rec 709 stay in rec 709. if you export for web do rec 709. if you export in P3 dci it means that all your pipeline was in p3 dci, mainly your monitor was calibrated to p3 dci, and you have a specific reason to work in P3 DCI. do not move from rec 709 unless you KNOW what you're doing. certainly not because of random comments on the tube.
Yes, Studio is far supperior for the noise reduction, transitions, audio mastering etc. Don't get me wrong, the free is amazing for being free and could totaly edit full wedding films on, but trust me, invest in the studio (find the deal I did with the speed editor keyboard for free). You won't regret it. The noise reduction feature in the studio version alone is worth every penny.
@@gortmanmade7277 Well, I'll give them another shot at a discount on Black Friday, only about 4 weeks away now! I just know they would prefer a sale than to not get my order at all. 🤣
Pretty sure you can go to Adorama right now and order the speed editor and it comes with Studio. That’s what I just did a couple of weeks ago. I needed Studio because if you’re working with 4:2:2 10-bit S-log3 footage it won’t show up in the timeline in the free version. So you basically get the editor for free instead of paying the same amount just for studio. Switching to Resolve because I’m sick of paying so much for Premiere in perpetuity, plus Resolve has the best color editing. And what do you know, Matt is helping with my switch right on queue!
Just a quick question. Can I set the timeline to 1080p and then at the end export the whole thing in 4K (the original fooage is 4k). It would make the editing process faster. Would I lose quality?
Thanks for info . I have a situation here to deliver for a TV network an MXF OP1a. I did it as a XDCAM2, 25 FPS enabled alpha channels for logo and lower thirds. It came out as 10 GB file for 24 minute show, which is fine. Problem is I need to archive it in MXF but native res that is actually 4K. There is no under XDCAM UHD or DCI 4K possibility to export so I tried with MXF DNxHR, that works but file size is almost 500GB! Do you (or anyone who cross over the comment) know what should i do to preserve 4K broadcast pack in this situation? Thank You
Matt has finally matured and switched to Resolve!!! Congrats
