      I already know a lot about Davinci Resolve, but my wife doesn't...and I don't have time to teach her so this video is gold for her....we run our channel together and if she learns how to edit on Resolve we will be more fast and efficient. Thank you so much!

      Thanks very much for a really good lesson and you are a wonderful educator. I took time away from my college teaching job for PD and want to do a video report instead of traditional written one - I have struggled with how best to approach and this has given me the inspiration and headstart to get my project rolling. I have a ton of .mov and .jpeg files and kept second-guessing my approach but now I will shoot A-cam on BMPCC then fill in with B-roll and effects, many thanks to you!

    FOR SLOW COMPUTERS using Davinci...disabling playback while rendering will usually solve crashing while rendering issues. Right clicking on timeline then clicking ripple delete will snap all files on the timeline back together for you. It will snap from right to left. While editing I use spacebar to play & pause while using L key to bump up playback speed to 2x, 4x, 8x etc. Keys J, K & L are playback speed keys. Once I figured all out my computer quit crashing & my editing speed increased dramatically. One more thing for slow computers... if Davinci starts to get laggy, the solution for me is saving the project, closing & reopening Davinci. I hope this comment saves someone from misery.

    Video editing is the most beginner friendly skill ever, getting good at will obviously not be overnight, but at start you're getting something decent out of it, unlike some other software's where it takes several months before you get anything that's alright. Great tutorial 🍀

    😇Hi Nate! I've been using DaVinci Resolve for 3 years now and I love it. I happened to notice a link to your video and decided to check it out in case there was a tip or trick that I didn't know, because every user has a different style. I did catch a couple of of cool tricks, but what impressed me the most was your delivery. You have a warm way of speaking to your viewers that is calming and informative. You're not speaking above or below anyone's intellect, but instead, explaining in a user-friendly manner that most will appreciate. I enjoyed watching your content. Best to you!

    • @helmanfrow
      @helmanfrow Місяць тому

      If I can offer one piece of advice it's that EVERY frequency sounds bad when you crank the gain on a high-Q filter and sweep it across the spectrum. It's really easy to butcher your audio this way, so unless you hear a problem while the EQ is flat, don't EQ! A bit low-cut is usually fine but don't slap a 10dB shelf on your track at 10KHz just because someone in a video it. Find Julan Krause's video on EQ-ing for voice.

      @@ThinkMediaTV Through the years I’ve went with Movie Maker, Sony Vegas, now Filmora and thinking about moving to Davinci, so anything that helps someone who already edit with other software, to move to Davinci. I’m thinking: How to organize your footage in big projects (you showed a glimpse), how to re-use video projects (e.g. templates? Same intros and outros for several videos….), how to color grade (in depth), how to chroma key…. And that just on Davinci. I still remember TM tutorials on how to record with a M50 or how to light an interview…. Those were so interesting! Would love also a “how to record yourself in public” or “how to do a talking head without a prompter”… those are just a few :”D

    A tip for editing audio levels. I’ve found that instead of using keyframes, I like to just make a cut in the track wherever I want the music fade to end. Then I adjust the whole volume of the new cut clip to my desired level and then use the clip fades to fade out. I’ve found that it works way better for me instead of playing with keyframes.

    • @BetterNeurodivergentTravel
      @BetterNeurodivergentTravel 2 місяці тому

      Same. I might eventually get my head around keyframes but not there yet :)

    • @djcontour
      @djcontour 2 місяці тому +1

      @@BetterNeurodivergentTravel you can handle keyframes! They’re actually super easy. The way I learned them (this was before I found out you can expand and see the actual keyframes) was to
      1 put the play head where you want the keyframes/animation to start.
      2 select the keyframe button of the things you know you want in the animation. zoom, position x and position y are my most common.
      3 don’t do anything yet with the keyframes. Simply play the clip and stop it wherever you want the animation to stop.
      4 now with the adjustment sliders in the inspector, simply adjust them to where you want and the clip should be animated!
      Give that technique a shot. I’m confident you’ll have it figured out in your next session!!

    I'm sorry, no one wants the end piece!?
    This actually takes me back to high school, when one of the guys played a video of them making a PB&J for some reason, i don't remember why. 😅
    But he just dips the knife in, grabs the peanut butter, and spreads it perfectly in a single stroke.
    Weirdly never forgot that.

    Dude, spread the jelly on the other slice of bread. A lot easier to spread over a solid rather than over a pseudo fluid like PB

    You keep saying "we can change the settings" but you don't show how to get to the screen to change the settings. Did you forget you advertised this is for beginners?

    Wonderful tutorial! I've been using Premier Pro for years, recently switched away from Adobe due to their policies. This is an excellent straightforward tutorial. I am thoroughly enjoying Resolve

    Oh come on guys, how do you do that? After I left Premiere and continued with CapCut (only semi-professional of course), I was wondering today if it wouldn't make sense to try DaVinci Resolve. And now this? Mind reader? ;-)

    Wow, what an excellent tutorial video! Of course one can, and must, go much deeper, but this is a great, and very encouraging, start. Thank you!

    This is so so helpful and re-motivated me to learn video editing again, after being discouraged by the complicative nature of learning a new software. Subscribed, liked, saved, favorited, shared, etc.
