Thank you for this awesome video. It would be awesome if you could add some chapters to your video to help find certain parts again please. Keep up the great work!
I use the same but change Quality from Automatic to Restrict and set it to 80,000 Kb/s even if YT limits it to 45,000 Kb/s, I think. Great video, thanks a lot!
For socials I still use h.265! The resolution would be based on the timeline that’s vertical obviously, but because the compression is so good with h.265, the quality can be kept at max but you’ll still have tiny files and then whichever app you’re uploading to will convert it to whenever they use internally.
The preset I use as my base setting sets those up automatically for highest quality (which is what you want for UA-cam). H.265 is extremely good at compression, so it honestly doesn’t matter if it’s variable or constant. Either way, the quality will look good and the file size will be small; which is why I only taught what was shown
H.265 is superior in every way to h.264. It’s quite literally the modern upgraded version of h.264. It is highly likely that it is your computer causing the issue, and not h.265
They just released 19 full (non beta) so you might be seeing slightly different options. I was working on 18.6 I believe. Multi pass should be there, might have to scroll down or open a new section
So it looks like Fusion was able to export Pro Res at one point, but Resolve cannot on windows even in Studio 😭 apparently it’s a limitation Apple has, not Resolve. That being said, if you absolutely need it, you can use a third party plugin called Voukoder. I haven’t used it, but hear it works fine on Windows for allowing you to export ProRes. Sorry for the confusion!
@@zuba786 h.265 will be IDENTICAL to ProRes in terms of quality. It can handle 422 10 bit, alpha channels, and the compression is incredibly good. That is what we film on with our Sony cameras and we also edit all our content with H.265 including the videos we upload to UA-cam, but that being said, it does depend on the computer you're using. We have M series Macs so they are very fast. I'm on an M1 Ultra Mac Studio and h.265 works flawlessly without proxies; it's awesome to be able to work with native h.265 files directly from the camera. Hope that helps!
@@AlliandWill that extremely helpful to know. I'm sorry to be a pain I'm new to all this but my last question i have a msi laptop 32gb ram, NVidia 3070ti, i9-12900H and 360hz screen.. everything should run fine?

I thought my export settings were fine but learned a lot from this video about how to make them better, thank you ☺️
You’re welcome. Glad it was helpful!
Thanks Will, extremely helpful information and presented in a manner easily understood! Most appreciated!
You’re welcome!!
Great info. Simple and straightforward. Thanks.
Thanks so much! Happy it was helpful

No problem! Each person will have their own preferences, thanks for sharing 👍
Great job! Thanks, Will.
Thank you! Appreciate your comment
Thank you for this!! Exactly what I needed! Do you have a different setting for socials (IG, tiktok etc)

Great thanks, but what about encoding settings? Constand QP, Variable bitrate or Constant bitrate?

@@AlliandWill Thank you, will switch to H.265
@@AlliandWill Well, I export to H.265 1080P and the image is horribly. Switch back to H.264 that look great. Maybe H.265 works better in 4K. Anyway

For me it looks like the H.265 is my best option. Can it be set up as the default so it does not to be "fixed" each time?
You sure can! The 3 dots at the top right of the Render Settings section will allow you to ‘Save As New Preset’.
Hope that helps!
@@AlliandWill Of course. Silly me. Just have not done it before.
Is this also work for gaming videos for UA-cam?
Absolutely!
I have a mov video. I want to get the highest quality movie. Can I get it to h265? Or something better so it looks good on you tube?
Try h.265!
My export page looks way different, is this on davinci 19 update? I don’t see multi pass encode and a lot of options are differently worded as well

i don't see prores on windows studio version?

@@AlliandWill ahh i see would you recommend or is h.265 good enough quality wise?

No problem! For you system, the ram isn’t too high, but the i9 is great and so is your GPU, so h.265 should work fine!
there is no multi-pass encode option for me i assume its because i dont have the paid version?...
@@AlliandWill I have the free version as well and it doesn't have that setting. Based on that do you have the correct settings to use for H2.65
For the free version, I think the h.265 preset is still better to use than h.264 or prores 👍
Hi, and for instagram??
H.265! All platforms allow it now
