As someone pointed out in the comments, I tried making the search box (dotted line) around the normal point tracker a lot bigger, and I mean HUGE, and it actually worked a lot better! It took a lot longer to track and my computer had to work harder but it did the job eventually. So, if you're on the free version, don't be afraid to make that search box a lot bigger if you get missed tracks all the time. 💪🏻💥 I'm gonna experiment some more to find out when it's better to use the IntelliTracker and when the normal point tracker. 🫡💯
oh and I also noticed you set the adaptive mode to none. That means the point tracker won’t adapt if the track area morphs/changes color. You should set that to best match and then bring down the slider below (forgot what it’s called). That way it will adapt more to changes. Maybe you just didn’t do that on the showcase, but that definitely helped my tracks a lot👍
First of all, Adobe has sunk itself down and it won't hold up very long as a main company in the market. Second, Resolve regardless of being the number one color grading software, placed all Premier, After effects and Audition abilities in a single software. And Resolve price... with a lifetime updates. Who is the fool that will continue to use Adobe. The only thing that Blackmagic is missing is a 4K global shutter camera with the first pocket cinema camera look.
I’ve been a Premiere user for 5 years. I always hated the monthly fee but wasn’t interested in learning a new editing platform…..that is until I found out how dirty Adobe was. When I found out that they not only can claim to own your work but the scams they were pulling charging their customers and the ability to spy on you, that was it for me. I forced myself to learn Davinci Resolve. You know what? It wasn’t as difficult as I thought it would be. In addition, there are so many more options to make your life as an editor easier and to speed up your workflow with one example being the cut page, Don’t even get me started on the color, it’s unbelievable. I am so happy I switched. It was a great decision to make for my business and I recently produced a video for a client using Davinci Resolve. The first project in four years as a full time professional corporate video producer using another platform other than Premiere.
i switched just last week. Got studio with the speed editor keyboard and for the love of god i cannot believe i waited so long to switch. Good riddance adobe!
I love seeing all the DaVinci 19 videos from different creators, everyone has different "best" and "favourite" things and all in all I get to see so many of those in so many different contexts. Thank you for your take on it!
I made the switch from premier pro yesterday. I edited a video fairly easily. I was amazed at the results. I've officially decided to make the switch and once a few of my clients pay I'm going to upgrade to the studio version. I'm gonna be devouring your videos for a while to get even better at Davinci. So keep them coming bro.... I will be devouring all the info you provide. 😊
I have to say, Davinci has probably been one of my greatest investments considering the perpetual licensing. I'm having a blast learning it, and I can't thank you enough for all you do for the community!
Hi, Joris. After watching your video, I'm still NOT convinced to quit Davinci Resolve! (Joking). It's the most AFFORDABLE and EFFFECTIVE video editing in the market right now. Its downside is it requires powerful hardware (Mac or Intel) because it's a professional app. I love your videos because they are easy to be applied to my editing tasks. Thank you very much.
I have been trying to spend more time learning new things lately, been using Davinci for well over a year though since I got tired of paying for Adobe.
LITERALLY the best content creator for teaching useful tipps and tricks for davinci resolve. Keep up the great work, Joris! And thank you so much for your videos🙌
2:52 you can fix that by bringing up the search area (the dotted rectangle). You made it extra small, so no wonder it failed when there are large fast movements. It’s basically the area in which the tracker will search for the object on the next frame. Just saying for the people who are on the free version
@@skapeedits Just tried it and it worked a lot better! But yeah, you're right, at some point, when the motion blur gets too much it struggles. But so did the IntelliTracker actually.
Switching from Microsoft Movie Maker to this has actually been super easy. Its surprisingly intuitive and easy to use. I might even think of getting the studio version. Hows that for a convert.
To be very honest, I started video editing from mobile, then I jumped to PC, and the very first software I used was Davinci resolve, and still using it😅.
Started using DaVinci primarily a year ago (been using for color grading for several years tho) & was a pretty quick learning curve. Excited to see these updates!
Why can't Davinci add the ability to copy effects from one clip on the edit page to another? Why haven't they made a keyframe curve editor that works intuitively on the Edit Page? These are two extremely basic features I've been waiting for in Davinci that they won't add.
Ctrl + C -> Alt+V , select Plugins/Fusion and that will copy them. I agree on the curve editor part, it definitely has some things that could be a lot better.
That first gripe was a Google search away from being solved. Pasting Attributes speeds up quite a lot of things. As for the Keyframe Editor, it would indeed be need to have the one front Fusion accessible in the Edit page. It's there, though, just not in Edit.
There definitely should be a more intuitive way to copy effects without having to use the paste attributes (then highlighting what you want) Just like you can in adobe. Just a simple highlight of the effect and copy/paste away
Your point tracker video was the first tutorial i saw on your channel, i'm glad they made a better version because the manual adjusting was a little annoying for my clips
As much as I enjoy your video Joris, I was impressed with the text overlays animations you used, and wondered if they are included in DaVinci, or if you have a tute on how to do this?
I've been using Davinci Resolve for about 6 Months now and for the most part its been great. I use it mainly at my 9-5 job, but recreationally I still use premiere. The reason I still use premiere is because I deal with a lot of motion pieces with lots of moving elements and I need good keyframe control. I've found that the keyframes in Davinci's edit and color page are somewhat limited and it drivees me nuts. Do you typically use fusion for all your graphics and Keyframe needs? Fusion is still a little too scary for me so I try and stick to the edit page for most things. Anyways, love the videos! Keep crushing it!
Not sure if it has to do with my rigs, but I find that the performances have improved a lot. It gets more features and gets more fluid at the same time 😮 ... Competition better wake up quick.
Hey thanks for your video on the new update. I have been using Davinci for the past few months and moved to FCP last week due to few reasons. One among will be easy Voice over recordings in FCP when compared to the davinci. FCP is so simple to use and it also lets me to choose from previous recordings stock super simple. Wish this new update on Davinci Resolve had that improvement.
Great!!! 😊 also about the 2x enancher, if you have an RTX graphic card you have that option too up to 8X!!! And is crazy because it wont slow down your live timeline, render faster (since GPU handle that) and honestly give better result

I understand that Davinci Resolve already has a film look effect which includes Kodak 2383. What's the major difference between using this previous feature to using the new "film look creator"?
The film look creator makes it a lot easier to customize your look and has a bunch of effects built-in (Halation, glow, film gate, film weave, split tone, vignette, ... ) So, everything you need to create a film look in one tool...
7:00 is 24FPS faster than 60FPS? You mentioned you’d wanna shoot in 60FPS but forget to set your frame rate and shoot in 24FPS instead, and speed warp would slow it down. What am I missing?
He wants to slow down footage that is shot in low framerate, which always looks terrible. Watch his examples, noting which is 24fps slowed down and which is 24fps slowed down WITH speed warp. Speed warp is making it looks smoother and more realistic, as if it had more frames which were then slowed down. If you slow down 60 to 30, it looks good. Slow down 24 to 12, looks terrible. Speed warp addresses this.
Hey Joris, thanks for the great update video! Wanted to check with you on the last segment about speed warp. What exactly is the difference between putting Motion Estimation to Speed Warp Better vs Enhanced Better?
Premiere user here. Every time I try Resolve, it feels like going from Photoshop to GIMP or Cinema 4D to Blender. No matter how powerful or affordable Resolve is, I’ve got deadlines to meet, and the workflow just isn't as smooth for me. Plus, I rely heavily on After Effects, and the integration with Premiere is a huge time-saver. It's great to see Adobe getting some competition, but for now, I'm sticking to the app that helps me hit those deadlines.
Premiere's lack of performance, instability, erratic After Effects integration and poor support made it nerve-racking for meeting our deadlines so we switched to Resolve Studio once we finished a years-long project. Even some of our subcontractors were delighted when we did. To be fair, Resolve still crashes occasionally but not nearly as often as Premiere and recovery is easier and faster. And, very importantly, Resolve is far better about actually fixing bugs rather than constantly emphasizing new features to expand their subscriber base at the expense of reliability and speed the way Adobe does. This experience is based on using Premiere for 9 years up until late last year and Resolve for 2 years.

I don’t understand why is taking them so long to switch. I made the switch from Pr to Resolve way back on Studio 14 days and 5 years ago Resolve WOW me with just the workflow new switchers have it even better with all the new features on 19 alone 🤘🏼
1:39 I'm confused. Here you're using this scene as an example of what the Film Look Creator can do, transitioning from grey&dull to vibrant, but you use the same exact vibrant scene in your last vid (Viltrox 40mm lens) and say it's straight from the camera with no grading.... so which is it?
@@JorisHermans You're right, they do look completely different and that's what I don't understand... In the other video it is 'straight out of the camera' looking okay. Yet here the 'before' is Grey and washed-out, implying that it was actually dull straight out of the camera. So which is right, did you make it grey and washed out here for the "before" in this video?

Boss, speed warp doesn't slow down your footage, it enhances slow-motion effect. I tried it a day ago and am not excited about it. Many reasons. Main - GPU load and slow speed.
As I showed in the video, you have to apply Optical Flow and Speed Warp first and then slow down the speed of the video clip. Works perfectly. 👌🏻 Oh, and make sure to turn on Render Cache for smooth playback.
I disagree with the title on your video. Maybe it applies to premiere. But FCXP is still much more streamlined, flexible and practical on MAC than DaVinci. Tracking with FCXP is tremendously faster, quicker and easier to manage than DaVinci. Creating split screens with FCXP is a breeze and you can modify it as you want, on DaVinci once done if you try to modify it you have to redo it from the beginning... everything. FCXP has fewer "technical" solutions than DaVinci, but it is more practical. DaVinci is as comfortable as getting on a Boeing 747 to take a tourist flight.... you have to prepare two hours before and ask for 10 flight permits.
Great video- 2 things:... nobody should be doing color grading or even basic correction in premier or FCP. BUT the people you really want to get to migrate to resolve are the dinosaurs emotionally attached to AVID!!!! Get them and the rest will follow. Nobody cuts feature films or even network TV in premier or FCP anymore....its mostly AVID.
hahahajajaja yes I believe you, the learning curb is getting easier , I have spend 5 day trying to make a Multicam video with external recorded audio an I have failed, I am back to lumafusion , saludos

I have officially made the switch from Premiere Pro to Resolve! I did it! LOL
I got the MacBook M2 Pro 1T SSD and 16 gb RAM, should I get Final Cut Pro or Davinci Resolve ?
Davinci resolve studio ❤
Why is Resolve 19 doing an auto input colour to Canon Log2 when my footage is shot in Log3
You really need to do a “free version” only of the updates.
hahahajajaja yes I believe you, the learning curb is getting easier , I have spend 5 day trying to make a Multicam video with external recorded audio an I have failed, I am back to lumafusion , saludos
If davinci has features like vertical view on program monitor like premiere and can undock some panels or timeline , I'm gonna buy this app. Please make it happen.
literally!
Premiere and final cut pro users punching the air right now 😂
