When you let it rest for say 30 seconds running, the fans cool it down pretty quick. Theyre amped rc 45mm fans on a cheap china heatsink.

Nice job. Your video edit skills improve from video to video ;) My maxx almost the same except I has plastic wheelhubs and stock motor and mamba monsterX ESC. It's a ground up custom build. I also have most the parts for a sweet custom Baja Rey King Shocks trophy sct build❤
Temp problem could be fixed with gearing. You dropped 4 teeth on your spur, so if you drop 2 or 3 teeth on your pinion you should be golden. I have 3.8 talon ext's on my widemaxx v1, running 20t/50t on 3s, I can go through the whole battery without getting too warm. I think a 22t pinion would be perfect, but the stock motor mount doesn't line up right.
If you dropped teeth on the spur and it’s causes overheating you may as keep the pinion as is but go back to more teeth on the spur again More teeth on pinion makes it faster and less teeth on spur means faster so if you decrease the spurs teeth and also increased the pinion than that’s too much stress on the motor
I wish I was able to work on my rc cars im not to mechanically inclined I just have a couple haiboxing their fun the ones u got are just to expensive for me maybe one day lol love the videos
Yep, 2600kv is to much torque for this maxx v1 for get go, it can do easy wheelie with the stock system already, with the upgrade of max 8, 2200kv is better fit, caz this maxx v1 need more high end speed then torque.
Unfortunately, I tried a motor fan, it prolonged the temps for a few minutes but I just dint think it's worth keeping the 2600kv in the maxx, I've ordered the 2200kv and will test it soon 😀
Can't wait to see how it goes I went with vitavon parts for mine all metal use to have the Maxx 8 with 2200 kV but in snow when really on it esc cuts out so wondering how the 2600 kV will do I actually switched to castle mamba monster x with Holmes hobbies 4274 1900kv punchy seemed like it needed it cause of the weight when go all metal had heat issues so hoping 1900 kV and castle fixes it fingers crossed love the vids to man keep up the good work
mate wish i watched your video before taking my maxx apart and making a mess of it putting them back together. in hindsight i needed that screw set and set of new bearings.. would;ve saved a whole lot of frustration! ive got the same motor / ESC set up, for gearing ive got 16/54 w/ metal spur gear and 3 fans for the motor with heatsink, works ok for me and never overheats. but i can say with all the steel parts, its at least 6kg heavier than standard maxx
I feel like the 2600kv will get too hot… the 2400 stock already gets hot as it is this truck should have a 2200 stock… a 1650 should be the best option for the maxx

@@andrimnerofsweden2615 yeah maybe, the most annoying thing about these wheels is that they dont come with the zero offset adaptors, they are sold separately and only come as an alloy part for another $80, im currently running a different set of all plastic wheels with no problems
@@harlyquin Last time i waited this long for an answer I ended up getting married.
@@andrimnerofsweden2615 lol, i only just got the notification from youtube, i know its pretty irrelevant now but i had nothing else to do
@@harlyquin That’s pretty much what my wife said too
just finished watching but man like i wish i was you, the build am doing is only 3s isnt bad but 4s would be best
Sometimes 4s can be too fast depending in the rc car 😀
Badlands are the best tire from the maxx hands down. (For jumping )
They're pretty good!
Nice mini Maxx. I m gona try the UDR Combo to put in my mini Maxx.
We’d to seed speed differences from stock
Nice build Do yourself a favor and replace the shock oil 50 in the front 70 in the rear You will thank me later Far as tightening the shocks goes 8 turns on the front And 15 turns in the back It will not bottom out anymore
So fun to buold custom RC. Really liking what you did here with the Maxx. GreenBuild👍
I have two amazing project builds based on my favorite RC. Arrma Mojave custom ive named Heavy Metal. It's a ground up custom build. I also have most the parts for a sweet custom Baja Rey King Shocks trophy sct build❤
Sounds like you have some awesome projects! 👌 will you make videos if them?
That’s well nice bro I love upgrade videos there the best
Gotta get them wheels for my hpi trophy truggy flux wow just wow
They seem really nice! I've heard the arrma backflips are good too!
I have this system in my maxx and it has been the best upgrade get
Temp problem could be fixed with gearing.
Well I have gone with the 2200kv I'll be testing it soon haha
If you dropped teeth on the spur and it’s causes overheating you may as keep the pinion as is but go back to more teeth on the spur again
More teeth on pinion makes it faster and less teeth on spur means faster so if you decrease the spurs teeth and also increased the pinion than that’s too much stress on the motor
22/50 and NHX dual fans would have kept it cool. 4 teeth on a spur equals 2 teeth on the pinion if that makes sense.
I wish I was able to work on my rc cars im not to mechanically inclined I just have a couple haiboxing their fun the ones u got are just to expensive for me maybe one day lol love the videos
I'm kinda looking at making a maxx princess already have a xmaxx for destroying
24/46 and that motor. Slap a fan on it will help. But yea 2200 all day.
Even stock gearing with a fan and it gets pretty hot, wouldn't want to run it any hotter that's for sure haha
@@MatthewSimm true. Experimenting is the fun part. Love the vids man.
Yep, 2600kv is to much torque for this maxx v1 for get go, it can do easy wheelie with the stock system already, with the upgrade of max 8, 2200kv is better fit, caz this maxx v1 need more high end speed then torque.
I don't see much fun in having the front end come off the ground all the time as you lose steering. Every time you accelerated the car lifted.
Your undergeared. If the esc is still cool you need to add some pinion teeth so it puts more stress on the esc and not the motor
Do those tires Ballon a lot.
Especially with no fan on the motor. 🤔
Unfortunately, I tried a motor fan, it prolonged the temps for a few minutes but I just dint think it's worth keeping the 2600kv in the maxx, I've ordered the 2200kv and will test it soon 😀
Nice Build! But please change your music where you were wrenching- isn't that good for enjoying your video Bro ;)
Haha, I'll try change it up dude, it's kinda hard to fit everyone's tastes, I try to go with the flow of the build 😉
I wanna do i build like that I know how but I'm broke cuz ima kid but the car is soooo nice
You can one day dude!
When I was just a kid, I thought the same thing, use those desires to drive you towards your goals mate!
Can't wait to see how it goes I went with vitavon parts for mine all metal use to have the Maxx 8 with 2200 kV but in snow when really on it esc cuts out so wondering how the 2600 kV will do I actually switched to castle mamba monster x with Holmes hobbies 4274 1900kv punchy seemed like it needed it cause of the weight when go all metal had heat issues so hoping 1900 kV and castle fixes it fingers crossed love the vids to man keep up the good work
I've have ordered the 2200kv, hopefully it doesn't cut out haha, video soon
@@MatthewSimm aslong as don't run the duratrax 3.8 for the erevo should be fine I went for the lower kV just so I could run giant tires in the snow
mate wish i watched your video before taking my maxx apart and making a mess of it putting them back together. in hindsight i needed that screw set and set of new bearings.. would;ve saved a whole lot of frustration!
ive got the same motor / ESC set up, for gearing ive got 16/54 w/ metal spur gear and 3 fans for the motor with heatsink, works ok for me and never overheats. but i can say with all the steel parts, its at least 6kg heavier than standard maxx
I miss when maxx's parts where clean and new now there worn and oldish
cool cat!
Haha thanks Bret 😊
Anyway you could help me with this build. Brand new.
Why 2600KV?
1600?
More speed haha, 2200kv seems to be the recommend so I ordered a 2200kv
Only a 1000 lol. That’s just the first set up upgrades I guess
Shoulda've bought a tekno
I'm going to soon dude 😉
2250kv tekin on 4s..I run all day ..
Big fan I wish you could see this comment
Hello 👋
I feel like the 2600kv will get too hot… the 2400 stock already gets hot as it is this truck should have a 2200 stock… a 1650 should be the best option for the maxx
I have indeed the 2200kv, the 1650kv hobbywing is way to big
@@MatthewSimm sorry I have a v2 so the 1650 fits with the max6 in mine but it a lil overkill
@@MatthewSimm I didn’t notice you had the original maxx. Cool vids tho man I thoroughly enjoy your content keep up the good work bro👍
Ok
Too many upgrades for one video. And that’s why you don’t know why your motor is hot. Throwing money all at once isn’t good rc.
First
You're legend Toby! 🙌
# Emilygotbeat!!!!!👍 Good job toby!
😀😀
Lol yep 🤣🤪😁👍🏻
Why not cleaning a bit your RC room?🤢
