Maxx is a tank. Upgrade the drive shafts and steering knuckles and it’s unstoppable. I’ve broken 2 front shock towers with my sledge. Yeah it’s faster but the maxx is the basher king
Well done, guys. Great review and just what I needed to decide which of these two. . . I'm gonna go with the Sledge for my self and get the Maxx for my Grandson; he loves to do two-wheel (bicycle) tricks.
The MAXX is the V2 (wide MAXX), and definitely the SLEDGE. The sledge is wider, heavier, and way more stable. You can make the MAXX handle great by lowering the suspension, and making the shocks much softer, but you’ll loose a lot when trying to BASH.
I have a Maxx v2 and a Rustler 4x4 VXL, I'm not planning on getting a sledge, but it is another nice offering from Traxxas. Nice vid guys (not much you can do about the wind without buying better equipment, spend it on the RC's! Haha).
As much as I want a sledge I believe the Maxx is the better buy for the price you can buy the truck and 2 batteries for less plus taxes then the base price of the sledge
Hey Bandit! Always love to see a fellow lover of rc cars and makes videos about it! Here’s a question, how do you record your runs? I’m using a go pro for onboard footage, and an iPhone for other stuff.
Thank you for the comments. We use the GoPro Hero 11 for most of our videos. When we do repairs I’ll use my iPhone. For the speed runs the GNSS Analyzer is very accurate and it’s what most people use.
We both need some 3 ft wide ramps for the 1/8 size . It’s tough to hit a 2ft wide ramp with a 1/8 . Totally do able but that is my next ramp size . I jump in grass it would be different in concrete . I like the spots on the parks around tree lines where the grass is flat and sparse and the trucks go through it easily but it’s still padded for landings . Thick grass sucks until I flatten it
Yeah our 1/8th scale cars only have an inch and a half on each side for error. We usually jump on baseball field grass, softer landings but still easy to drive through.
Sorry guys but the sledge has many weaknesses, main one being the chassis if you really start jumping that thing it will bend quite easily and the motor Mount system is junk. And will move around on you but with some upgrades it is a sweet truggy
Like we said in that video, we will find those weakness as we use it more. A must upgrade is front/rear differential gears from stock to spiral cut. And yes, a new motor mount system like M2C design will fix most of the gearing concerns. And that’s currently in the process of being upgraded.
I first had a Maxx..then Xmaxx now just 2 weeks ago yhe Sledge. Maxx and xmaxx are just so durable. I wanted the Sledge for the speed. It did take 5 batteries betore i could drive it without fixing something. Once kinks worked out its great. Sledge is probably my favorite to drive though. I like the Xmaxx for driving off road like creek beds. Its basically a ⅕ crawler lmao.
I have both. Along with the Slash Ultimate and Raptor R. Guess I’m a fan boy but I love having parts always available. Thought I was done but found a T-maxx classic on eBay very good condition for 260 bucks. Think I’m done. 5 is enough.
I do love how Traxxas parts are easy to find. We will be getting into Arrma and I know we will half to order parts, and they are more expensive. We’re at 11 cars now, many more to go.
Also if you want better turns on dirt and grass needs more weight on the axles so buy the Traxxas metal driveshafts and trust me. You have way better traction to the ground when it comes to returns and everything in general.
Rear wheel bearing were bad, it was causing the axle to hit the hub. The bearings are what took the wheel out during that donut. Good ear, thank you for watching.
For pure fun, Maxx is no brainer.
To go faster, Sledge.
Maxx fast enough for endless fun.
Very good comparison between these two. Maxx is the most durable, but Sledge is so strong. Awesome
Both look outstanding. Trying to decide which to get. I’m leaning toward the Sledge.

I love my maxx v2 so much but I want the sledge to
The red windows on the maxx looks sick !!!
Thank you, wanted to go a little darker.
@@redbanditracingim stuck between a rustler ultimate or max v2 whats the better basher
Well done, guys. Great review and just what I needed to decide which of these two. . . I'm gonna go with the Sledge for my self and get the Maxx for my Grandson; he loves to do two-wheel (bicycle) tricks.
Great choice, can’t go wrong with either one. You guys will love them both, thank you for watching.
Great comparison! Which has better handling stock out of the box? And is that a wide or regular maxx? Thx!

@@redbanditracing Looking forward to catching up on the other vids, subbed!
@@redbanditracingI'm selling my rustler 4x4 vxl for a sledge
Great comparison. Sledge is my next. I started with Rustler 4 x 4 and I like it but ready to move up
Glad to hear, can’t go wrong with either of these
It’s a total other beast than 1/10 scale
As much as I want a sledge I believe the Maxx is the better buy for the price you can buy the truck and 2 batteries for less plus taxes then the base price of the sledge

Thank you! I’ll keep that in mind!
He took those baseball turns very nice with the maxx
Maxx is just built like a tank, it’s the KING
It’s a wimp
@@TravisBourgeois A wimp compared to what? Denying how tough the MAXX is shows how little you know about the hobby dont hate
lol I launched mine 20 ft in the air at a competition and no damage
@@TravisBourgeoisyou prob drive a rustler😂
The Sledge is well worth the money
We need to see more of the sledge!
This is a really useful comparison, thanks guys🏴🏴
Glad you enjoyed it!
I have a wide maxx and I love it. It’s a beast good price 4s 6700mah battery it’s great. Plus it’s a 1/10scale perfect size for bashing.
Over the X-MAXX it more practical in price, cost to repair, and durability. Love the MAXX as well
Awesome video !!! The Maxx is good but I love my Sledge !!!
I agree, love both thank you
Should get another one and bolt them together
Definitely buying another ramp
What part San Diego?
Just got into the hobby. I got the Kraton 4s v2. Thinking of getting either the Maxx or the Sledge next.
We visit the Santee Sports Plex, and El Cajon area. The Maxx and Sledge are great choices.
@@redbanditracing dope i'll have to check those out. Live close to Rhor Park. Been hitting that spot up

I feel the same way, MAXX is way too durable. But after getting sledge worked out it’s so fun.

Maxx can take skateparks better and can use self rightening. Sledge is just WAY fast and more powerful
We know the Sledge will most definitely bend the chassis at the skatepark, but would probably handle great. The Maxx is just so versatile.
Also if you want better turns on dirt and grass needs more weight on the axles so buy the Traxxas metal driveshafts and trust me. You have way better traction to the ground when it comes to returns and everything in general.
Been thinking about metal shafts on the MAXX. Thanks for the tip
Awesome informative video, gents 🍻
Glad you enjoyed it!
Close compaction 👍👍
Throw some belted tires on the maxx it will really increase handling
Eventually, would probably adjust pinion to adjust for weight of the tires. Not sure how they would perform off the ramp.
Part number for aluminum Hex for Maxx V2...????
5353, type that in Traxxas site and you should see there’s three colors to choose from.
@@redbanditracing Thanks guys👍🏽
Sledge has 0.65 inch lower ground clearance + grass resistance is probably the reason why the sledge wasn't faster off-road.
Grass definitely slows it down, but once it gets on dirt it is much faster.
Sounds like the maxxs spur gear isn’t very happy
Bearings were worn, ended up replacing gear cover also
i love my sledge and i would never trade it for a maxx ijs sledge on top lol ... ps the wheel popped off .... yea sledge has never done that lol
maxx v.s sledge ..... x maxx v.s xrt
That maxx doesn't sound right. Clicking
Rear wheel bearing were bad, it was causing the axle to hit the hub. The bearings are what took the wheel out during that donut. Good ear, thank you for watching.
I have a rustler 4x4 vxl it’s fast have a maxx also took my family to buy a sledge Monday he will have it next week
What u mean asking
You use 2s lipo 🤣
I haven’t a clue what you mean. Did we use a 2S LiPo?
