- Hey Horse Lovers! In today's video I will be going to look at a potentially new horse to purchase and I will be bringing him to Free Spirit Farm for a trial. You will get to see the entire process of determining if he will be a good fit for what I am looking for in a horse currently. This horse is a 13 year old, Buckskin Tobiano,. WHAT DOES GAITED MEAN?!
What is a gaited horse? A gaited horse is a horse that moves each leg independently. Doing so allows one foot to constantly be on the ground, allowing the horse to conserve more energy than they would while trotting. Gaited horses are used for traveling as they have greater stamina and endurance. To put it simply a gaited horse, moves like a regular horse does at a walk, it places all four feet down independently, the difference is in the upper speeds, the next speed for a trotting horse is a trot, and for a gaited horse it is just a faster walk, and some gaited horses can walk so fast that even the trotting.

I did not think you were just moving on from Prince Charming. You are not that kind of person. Losing PC is a painful loss which not be soothed so easily. But I hope you enjoy your new horse.

There is definitely something about him. The look in his eyes, very expressive. He is humble and unassuming, confident but not overconfident and bossy. Very interested in people. Very cute boy. Hopefully he fits what you want!

He seems like such a gentle soul. When I grieve, having something or someone to direct my love and attention to is very therapeutic. It’s not replacing the animal you lost but opening your heart to someone who may need you just as much as you need them.

@@freespiritequestrian may I ask an earnest question please? I’m not a horse person but I’m a life long animal person - was a vet tech for 4.5 years while in high school and nursing school. My question is, do horses seem to get depressed when they’re sold to another person or family? I think about my dogs and cats and keeping them for their entire lives knowing the bond we have. So I’m wondering how horses act physically but also emotionally. Are there things that can be done that help with their emotions or worry? Are there things that make it worse? I truly enjoy learning, especially about animals, and I enjoy watching your channel now that I’ve come across it. You speak very well and explain things very well but you also emote in a way that is touching so I felt you might be able to take this question in the way it’s intended as I’d never want to be disrespectful. I hope I’ve worded this in a way that shows that. Thank you very much ☺️
@@kirstingooge3918 i believe they do 100%. I remember when I sold my last pony because I outgrew him, he turned around in the trailer to say mom what is going on?? I bawled for days. But I do believe they feel just like us and they are very intuitive animals. Definitely my favorite!. I wish I could still have them! No better way to live. It's work, but it's all SO rewarding❤❤🐴🐎❤❤

I think he's beautiful and a perfect fix for everything you need him for. Him being healthy, trained, and coming from a vet who took good care of him is definitely a huge bonus. You will have plenty to do with Mushu, Belle and her baby.
He looks absolutely amazing his coat is so cute and his gaits look amazing I can tell through the screen that his canter is supper smooth and I think the kids would love him and I am soo excited to hear his name ❤❤

My impression from when we got our first look at him - he will be one to up your level of animal communication if you so desire. I know we all communicate with our animals on some energetic/telepathic level and there are some horses that are just more interested than others. His eyes say he wants to communicate in this way and he has wisdom to share. I'm sure you'll have wonderful relationship.

When I was about 12 years old, a friend got a Tenn Walker. She invited me over for a ride and I remember how delighted I was with his canter. He had such a long back and Sheryl said that was why he rode so well. Was she right? Was it the horse's long back or was it that he was gaited?
This horse was also so willing and calm. He had an amazingly smooth jump as well. I always wanted to purchase a Walker after getting to know this one, but they were rare in the state of Washington back then (the 1960s). Lots of Appaloosas, but not walkers.

Ohhh he's absolutely stunning! I can't get enough of his colours and patterns he's a really really beautiful horse, not to mention that he seems just really chill and easy going I bet he'd be a dream on a trail ride. Also I agree with your decision not to really quarantine him, it's different when you get a horse from auction and have no idea where they've been or what they could potentially have, but with this guy you know everything and know he's not sick and up to date on everything so there wasn't a real need for the quarantine. And I can't imagine how less stressed you are knowing 100% you have a healthy horse, especially coming from a vet
