I've been racking my brain for a while as to what all the different sub-names meant for suspension components. (Rhythm, Performance... ) So, as someone who's still going through their learning curve, you get a HUGE thanks. This was very well explained. 👌👏👏👏
As a roadie I really appreciate this video. It came up as a sponsored ad but I couldn't leave a comment. I searched for it separately because I found it totally illuminating. I own a bike shop that is roadie focused but from time to time I have to field questions about forks/shocks. Thank you so much for the time and effort you put into making this video!
I’ve ran top spec kashima 34 160mm and top spec Lyrik 180mm IMHO Fox felt better initially but needed serviced fairly regularly to maintain the feel, I’ve had my 180mm Lyrik for 2 years and it still doesn’t need serviced, so it’s rockshox for me 💯
I used to be a RS fan. But, when I bought a new Trek EXe, I made the switch to Fox and I’m never going back. Fox suspension is super easy to set up and it just works better and it’s more tunable.
I just serviced my 2008 Rock Shox Recon for the first time. The oil was not even dirty inside. no bushing play. I love the lower end forks by rock shox and fox for the simple reliability. They may not be the best, but they save me money in the long run not having to source a 17 year old rubber bladder.
Ive supported the shock industry since the beginning. Id say that they got things dialed around mid 2010s. Before then. It didn't take much to blow out the internals with some aggressive riding. Rebuilds were common after a weekend or two of riding. Now days, i can go a couple seasons before a rebuild is needed. Though to be fair. Im not casing jumps like when I started 😅
I am Team SR Suntour, how come no one talks about it. SR Suntour also have high-end forks like the AXON, DUROLUX and RUX. Currently have an 2 MTB bikes, one with a RockShox fork and another one with an SR Suntour fork. Like the SR Suntour better for it easy tunability, simplicity and low maintenance. Currently looking for an SR Suntour fork to replace the RockShox. The SR Suntour AXON was fitted to both Olympic GOLD medalist.
Ohlins is a premium brand just like Fox and Rockshox! They just don’t have as strong of a presence in terms of being specced on bikes from the factory.
Mam teraz moim Lapierre Zesty AM 7.9 amortyzator RockShox Revelation RC 150 mm i chciałbym zamienić go na jakiś lepszy do jazdy po kamieniach. Możecie coś polecić?
I run a rockshox right now, simply because I got an amazing deal on a fork that I just couldn't pass up and rockshox was pre installed in the rear. but I still prefer the feel of a fox fork. and I can't even put my finger on it, they just feel that little biit better in my opinion. so what is my next step you might ask? the answer is a Cane creek coil shock in the rear to make my bike into even more of a frankenbike.
Yes it's all a matter of preference, and they definitely do feel slightly different! As for the coil, that should spice things up a bit some more! Enjoy!
Awesome work Woman!!!!! Great job and Thank YOU!!!!! RS seems to be a little more buttery to me. Can't go wrong with either tho. Rubber Side Down Peeps!!!!
Rockshox suspension does not feel like floating. Rockshox is more active and poppy fox on the other hand just plows through everything fox is the brand that floats
May I get help to chose a fork for a hardtail eMTB with which I wanna bunjy jump side walks&do trail/enduro It is like a dilem because I don't need ease to climb (thanks to the motor) and go as fast as downhill on flat trails, but I also wanna keep agility for the city...
ROCK SHOX, mas variedad de repuestos, mecanica mas simple, mantenciones las hago yo mismo, repuestos de bajo valor, en gama alta son excepcionales por el precio que cuestan.
rockshox fs. they are way more innovative now these days then fox, with the release of the flight attendent series changing the whole entire xc scene. As well as the electric dropper posts that fox just recenetly made while rockshock has been way ahead. I have also found rockshock to be more reliable.
ZEB ultimate. Charger 2.1 Buttersmooth. Bought it new for 500€ (dont understand why there are so many on the market..) super easy working on it. Fox-> expensive. Special tools..fancy kashima. i dont like it
Neither! Been riding Manitou since '94! And they're better than ever! No need for tokens with IRT, and travel adjustable without needing a new damper for each travel range!
budget rockshox and fox are not even in the same tier. Went from RS 35 gold RL to 36 rhythm. The 35s feel like a toy in comparison. Rebound and compression adjustment literally does nothing on the 35s
@@bikesonline the consumer price will be the right answer not the good deals rockshox always not good on price category because of its color and many versions. Fox is very expensive second hand market or good deals. That's why many Asian raider of mtb prepare the fox because of its value. U couldn't be more wrong. There are 2 fox's companies. They are somehow connected to each other. But first one specializes in clothes, helmets etc. While 2nd FOX specializes in just suspension to any kind of vehicle 👍

I felt the other way, couldn't get my head around rockshoxs but fox always made sense to me
Thanks so much! We took our time mapping out the script. Cheers to you!

Just bought a Fox 36 Float Performance, can't wait to swap out 35 Gold which came stock on my bike.
i am about to do the same, but i am not sure if 36 Performance or Rockshox Yari will be a better choice for me.
I tried Fox when I started to mountain bike and made me fall in love with mountain biking. So team Fox for me!
That's awesome! They make amazing products!
i heard that they blow easily. is ot true w the 40's?
I’ve ran top spec kashima 34 160mm and top spec Lyrik 180mm IMHO Fox felt better initially but needed serviced fairly regularly to maintain the feel, I’ve had my 180mm Lyrik for 2 years and it still doesn’t need serviced, so it’s rockshox for me 💯
Bro it does need a service 2years of riding its not well on the inside believe me

Very nice! We can agree that Fox is quite tunable.
hmm, i hear a lot about RS being easier to set up and forget than fox.... meanwhile im here rocking a DVO

@@JuanRodriguez-wx9sq we love SR Suntour too! We will be doing a video on them.
Manitou. I really don’t know which one I would go with if I had to choose RS/Fox. They’re both doing some interesting things lately
I have a RZR with Fox Live valve x3 suspension and it is amazingly plush and I just bought A transition MTB with Fox shocks knowing it will be plush.
I have a rockshox recon select deluxe + which I love
Rockshox because the fonts are edgier and more badass.
They definitely have a great design language!
I have s set og Ohlins on my bike, where do they sit in relation to Fox and Rocshox?

Rockshox Pike would be a substantial graduation from that!
Maximuuuummmm... ROCKSHOX....Pleaaassseeee!!!!!!😱😱😱😱😱😱💯💯💪💪💪💪💪💪💪👍👍👍👍👍👍Lets Goooooooo!!!!!🚴🚴🚴🚴🚴
Team fox
I have both ! RS seemed stiffer but Fox makes a plusher fork.
That makes sense!

What about the Domain? It's still a pretty prominent fork out there. You completely missed it in your line up.
There were a couple honorable mentioned missed like revelation and domain. You’re right!
Great breakdown!
Glad it was helpful!

Great job and Thank YOU!!!!!
RS seems to be a little more buttery to me. Can't go wrong with either tho.
Rubber Side Down Peeps!!!!
What is the rockshox version of the fox float x shock? Looking to get a lyric and whatever shock is the equivalent to the float x
Super deluxe!
There both great brands down to the person on what you are use to the new 3.1 damper are brilliant in the rockshox
We have heard that damper is incredible!
I run Ohlins but if i had to choose between these 2 id go Rockshox
You should do a video of SRAM vs Shimano MTB drivetrains
Rockshox suspension does not feel like floating. Rockshox is more active and poppy fox on the other hand just plows through everything fox is the brand that floats

It is like a dilem because I don't need ease to climb (thanks to the motor) and go as fast as downhill on flat trails, but I also wanna keep agility for the city...
Probably something like a fox 36 or fox 38 would be appropriate for an ebike that will go downhill.
ROCK SHOX, mas variedad de repuestos, mecanica mas simple, mantenciones las hago yo mismo, repuestos de bajo valor, en gama alta son excepcionales por el precio que cuestan.
Both are great but RS is easier to service on your own.
Don't forget the Rockshox Domain, mine has a Zeb charger 2.1 damper......Zebain🤣
That’s awesome! ZEBAIN - that’s brilliant. 😂
There used to be another … long ago. I’m still using a marzocchi fork on one of my bikes.
still around they are part of FOX I believe.

team rockshox (i have zeb ultimate with buttercup) because it s lighter and it s not as firm as fox 38
ZEB ultimate. Charger 2.1

Sounds like a nice piece of kit!
Rockshox easier to rebuild fork
It is nice to have kit that is easy to work on!
budget rockshox and fox are not even in the same tier. Went from RS 35 gold RL to 36 rhythm. The 35s feel like a toy in comparison. Rebound and compression adjustment literally does nothing on the 35s
Thanks for sharing your thoughts! 36 Rhythm is a good one!
like rockshox
team fox bc better made better website and better design and i almost forgot about factory foxes thts shreds
Right on!
fox Kashima is a gimmik, rockshox for me is better as i can easly work on them and upgrade at home
Rockshox is definitely a great option for the home mechanic!
I prefer Manitou
Right on!
If it isn't a Zeb...It's anythings Fox over RS.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
Used both, Same thing different brand but one is just pricier.
Understandable assessment! They can feel similar at times!
Rockshox
fox fox fox
ohlins
