@@Dram305 he was only following the direction of Schumaker. If given better direction, I'm sure his performance wouldn't be nearly as hated as it is now.
Edit: plus his performance is not the only bad component of the movie. Many bad decisions were made that Clooney had nothing to do with. He was just doing his job as an actor.
The head bobbing is all Clooney. Can't see Schumacher as the cause for that.

@@callumdalton9560 Totally agree. I wasn't a fan of Tim Burton picking Keaton for the role and wished he'd picked someone like Clooney, who actually looks like Bruce Wayne. But Clooney's own performance, even taking into account the bad writing & direction, was a major letdown.
There was a third Schumacher Batman film planned. It was gonna be called Batman Triumphant and it was gonna feature none other than Nicolas Cage as the Scarecrow. I'll let that glorious idea sink in. Also, thank you, Chris, for another amazing Hilariocity review! Keep up the good work.

Here's more... Madonna was eyed for Haley Quinn (who was Joker's daughter this time around), Man-Bat and The Mad Hatter were potential villians with Ewan McGregor eyed for Man-Bat. Jack Nicholson would have returned for a dream sequence.
This may have been amazing.

Okay, I realize Arnold's Mr. Freeze is awful, but I can't help loving his polar bear robe & slippers. Hilariously awesome!
His one liners are cringy, but in a funny way!

Call me crazy, but I actually don’t hate Arnold as Mr. Freeze. I mean, he wasn’t the right casting choice at all (Anthony Hopkins, Patrick Stewart, and Ed Harris were originally considered), but he clearly put effort into his performance. He tries to make his one liners sound convincing and there’s a lot of energy to him, so he’s clearly having fun being this over the top bad guy. He’s also the only actor who didn’t hate being in this movie. He’s capable of showing emotion when he needs to, like for instance, the scenes with his wife. He manages to be convincing as a mourning husband who misses the woman he loves, will do anything to be reunited with her, and is devastated when he thinks she is dead. And keep in mind, some of this is while he’s wearing the stupid polar bear robe & slippers. Sadly his sympathetic qualities are dampened by the fact that he casually makes hilariously bad ice puns while he tries to straight up murder people and take over the world and Arnold Schwarzenegger, despite how educated he is, will never be convincing as a scientist (Junior, yuck, though once again he tries), so yeah, it’s definitely not a good adaptation of the character, but that’s not Arnold’s fault. Arnold gave him more complexity than this version deserved.

The scientist that tries to kill Poison Ivy in the scene that she gets her powers, is played by John Glover. John worked a lot for the DCU. He was Lionel Luthor on "Smallville", Doctor Sivana's father in "Shazam", (The Floronic Man) mad Scientist in Batman and Robin, the voice of the Riddler in Batman the Animated Series

I love mr Freeeze in this movie. It's one of those situation where his puns are bad that it's actually funny and arnold is clearly like "this movie is terrible may as well have some fun" because he is clearly having some fun knowing how terrible his puns are and it's halrious.
As Nostalgia Critic said it "best": it's like the dance number from Spider-Man 3; it's supposed to be funny, and it's hilarious.

I also love how Clooney made no attempt to even tone up for the roll. He barely fits in the batsuit. There are times he turns his head and his mask is so loose.
He put nearly zero effort into the role. Funny thing is he seamed to know the source material really well, like more than just an entry level fan. There are a few interviews were he talks about talking to Joel about the different sides of Bruce and a few really deep cut theories like playing Bruce as secretly gay. Just like Chris brought up in the video. Why he didn't bother to use any of it is unknown. He checks out mentally once people try to press him on this movie

Damn right. The Dark Knight trilogy is still the best comic movies ever by a mile. That says a lot considering the stuff marvel has put out and man of steel and watchmen which were actually amazing DC movies unlike the rest.

The reason he said “mr freeze” like that is because he’s told that the guy turned folks into blocks of ICE. so Batman can said it like “oooh ok I get it... mr FREEZE” like he sees the play on words of it and not impressed. It’s like saying it with a smfh

Also becsuse technology wasnt on there side at that time... burton made an entire damn city and a batmobile for this movie off of shit car scrap and jet stuff. It took me getting to about 7 minutes in to realize that I've SEEN this movie and I saw it when I was about 7 years old on a VHS my parents bought. And I'm not kidding, I actually liked this movie when I was that young.

Also Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze is so great, it's obvious he knows that the movie is shit anyway, but decided to make it so-bad-it's-good.
I literally thought that George Clooney acted like George Clooney in a Batman costume on my first watch. Also the amount of times I thought "who wrote this shit" was in the triple digits.

I've watched this review at least 10 times, which is twice as much as I've watched the movie. I'm ALMOST thankful for the movie just so I can cackle like a maniac at this review.
I was 16 when this movie was released in 1997 and I saw it in the theater...even then, I found it absolutely awful.

I also love the way Batman says “Mr. Freeze” so confidently right after listening to that random dump of exposition he had no idea of beforehand. It’s just so stupid and perfectly sets the tone for the train wreck you’re about to watch.

The motorcycle scene is seriously an amazing memory for me and a whole cult of people out there.

I met one of the engineers that designed the bat mobile for Batman and Robin. He said it has four-wheel steering with two v12 engines. The front and rear drive- and power-trains are independent, this allows the car to select between front, rear, and four-wheel drive. He said the car can essentially pivot in place, is over twenty feet long, and not as fast as you would imagine.
All that prick Bob Kane created was the name Bat-man and a shitty picture. Bill Finger as far as I am concerned created Batman. He came up with Bruce Wayne, his origin, Gotham, the Batmobile, his suit, utility belt, Wayne Manor, Robin, Joker, Scarecrow, Two-Face, Catwoman, the Riddler, the Penguin, Commissioner Gordon and he created Batman's nickname 'The Dark Knight'.
Like with Stan Lee.. Steve Ditko created the costume, etc.. But his name is not rung as much..
