I changed my diet on Feb 25th. I am on SNAP so I can't afford steaks etc, but I MAINLY eat bacon and eggs. In 89 days I lowered my A1C from 9.9 to 5.3! Triglycerides were 274 and are now 99. My stage 3 Kidney Disease is now "mild" my Dr said. (He's VERY PROUD of me!) And I've lost 25 lbs!! I'm SO HAPPY I found out about a "proper Human Diet"! ❤❤❤❤ Oh! I forgot to add, my HAIR is growing back in and my MUSCLES are increasing! (I'll be 62 next month)

60 days in at age 55 I have the abdomen that I had at 25. Years of working out and trying different ways to keep the muscle on and the fat weight off was a futile and losing battle. Wife suffered for years counting calories and restricting foods to maintain her figure, which led to fatigue and frustration because she was undernourished. For the first time in years she stopped counting calories on her phone app....that's huge. Now we eat well every day, no cravings, enough energy to work out every day and we look as though we are reverse ageing. We save money because we never throw out those rotten vegetables in our fridge, as we did not buy them in the first place. I don't give a damn what any of these 'experts' say to us, we are the experts of our own bodies and all it takes is the courage and the willingness to try. YOU are far smarter than you may think. Lost 75 lbs on keto by eating a lot of hotdogs, hotlinks, polish sausage, etc. I went with the ones with only 1 gram carbs per weiner instead of 2 grams like most. (Most all have sugar added). Their are some grass fed beef ones at Costco that are good. I sometimes put a dab of Head Country sugar free barbeque sauce on my plate and dip my dogs. There are so many ways you can do keto and be fully satisfied without hunger and without going broke. Eating steak is still cheaper than alcohol , cigarettes, and paying for medical care. Like, us carns only have to eat once a day, vs the normies having to eat two or three times a day, and up to five or six for the stupid vegans! So, how much are you saving by NOT buying all those side dishes, the breakfast cerals, etc etc? And then, of course, there's the lack of medical bills or - if you're in socialist/communist Canada (where I am), the days off work waiting hours at the doctor's office or emerg (currently 17 hours' wait) when your health decides to take a tumble?
Also, if you have the space and the means to slaughter and process, I highly recommend pigs or sheep! Both are easy keepers, but a sheep can replace your lawnmower and grow into food while saving you on gas, whereas pigs are better suited to woods/brushy environments.

One factor that probably negates any downside in processed meats is that their "cheapness" means they include gristle, organ meats, and fats that aren't in regular muscle meat. This moves you closer to the ideal of eating the whole animal, which is better nutrition than just eating lean muscle meat. BTW, I once knew an African man who said his people still ate the whole chicken, including the gristle and cracking the cooked bones for the marrow. This too is better nutrition that we no longer do.

First of all I’m an 80 year old woman with immobility issues due to fibromyalgia since ‘93, the usual arthritic changes from years of working hard and beating my poor body up. I’d always thought that the harder and longer I worked, played, took insane risks would make me stronger in old age. It didn’t. After watching numerous videos on the carnivore diet and fully believing that inflammation is the direct cause of all illnesses I decided to embark on this new way of eating. I am in fact, one of those people that “eats to live”, and only one or two meals a day was perfect. I did mention it to my pcp who just cautioned me to eat white meat and minimum fat. Duh…! I began in November of ‘23 and lost ten pounds the first two weeks. I also had had the usual labs drawn when I started with mild to moderate abnormalities in the lipid section.

Sausages and even hot dogs are not 'highly processed' as people imagine. I make these things in a meat plant and you just take pieces of lean and pieces of fat and grind them together, which gives you mince just as you would buy in a store for homemade hamburgers or meatloaf or meatballs, etc. Then I take that and mix it with water, spices, and sometimes breadcrumbs. Then it gets stuffed into a casing. Hotdogs are the same but they get chopped until they become an emulsion (something like a paste) before being stuffed into casings. My point is that not that much is actually done to the meat to change it from its natural state. Most of the processing is just grinding and chopping with water and seasoning. I don't see how that in itself renders something less healthy than just eating a single, unprocessed slice of the same meat.

My thought was you know my grand parents never suffered from this shit so why do I? My conclusion was because they raised their own food! They did not live a life of convenience. So I went back to the old way's of doing things and it worked great for us! Anybody out there can afford pork but at 87 cents a pound when it is on sale stock up on it. There is so many things you can make out of it! To get good cuts of meat that are inexpensive buy a chuck roll! You can get a couple rib eyes out of it and many other very good cuts that if it was broken down would cost a fortune. Be independent! Do not rely on anybody other than you! Well I have my own steer in the freezer right now, but before he went to "freezer camp" I was buying mostly reduced meats. And I still do, got over $50 worth today. This way of eating WORKS, even if you can't afford the "best".

We are doing our best right now in the shape things are in. My husband cured his diabetes by eating dirty keto/carnivore not the best meat. He's no longer on medication. I'm so glad you have shared this. 🥲 I have beat myself up because things have been so hard. We bought a cow and shared the meat with other family members. We still eat lunch meat and hot dogs and bologna which I'm from the south, you eat fried bologna. Lol I'm letting the guilt go and do the best we can do. Thank you

For processed meat like bacon or sausage, I look for the ones with the cleanest and recognizable ingredients. Other than that I went from 230 pounds at highest during my high school to a lean and strong 143 pound guy in college. I thank ground beef, turkey bacon, and eggs for transforming my whole life even on a college budget. I did have ice cream and ribeye steak on occasion but at least it's sustainable and cheaper than SAD diet.

Thanks for this. I'm tired of people who are more financially well off than I am trying to get me to buy things I can't afford by telling me that nothing is more important than my health and I should just "reprioritize". That kind of talk is really off-putting & unhelpful and doesn't magically put money into my bank account. My wallet shouldn't determine my value and right to a healthy life. The healthcare system would have us believe otherwise.
However, I greatly appreciate you. THIS content is helpful. THIS video makes me feel that I'm of worth. THESE words inspire me.

Thank you Dr. Berry. Two things, first there was a report about 6 months ago that each hot dog takes 13 minutes off your life. Think I would have died in my 30s if that was true. I do like the bun and ketchup but haven't had any in 6 months. Second, in Oklahoma, the land of moo, cluck and oink..I have not found one hotdogs, sausage, ground sausage/link/patty, beef Jerry, deli meat that ingredients didn't have sugar or corn syrup or dextrose, or other sugars. It is sad, I eat occasional deli meat but start just cooking larger portion of chicken, beef, or steak and use leftovers as my lunches or following day dinners. I could all my own food, my only processed foods are greek yogurt, hard cheeses, and canned tomatoes on occasion in my cabbage soup. Trying to be good. Feb 16 started keto, down from 285 to 225, a1c down from 6.4 to 5.3, blood sugar down from 160 to below 80. 40 lbs to go..

Doc, been following you for quite a while. You consistently produce quality information, but I think this might be one of your most valuable posts. “Highly processed” in itself is not a bad thing, it’s what you are processing that is important. We make all our own bacon, Canadian bacon, sausage, salami, copa, lonzino etc, etc. We control everything that goes in it. Having said that I still eat commercially produced similar products. Also for those that don’t know, for many of these products don’t worry when you see dextrose in the ingredients. That was added to feed the bacterial culture that was used in the fermentation process. It has been consumed by bacteria long before you eat it.

Now, I'm not normal having had a gastric by-pass about 15 years ago (yes more healthy on Carnivore rather than the by-pass) but because i eat less because of it, I also eat less with Carnivore due to eating more healthy thus don't need to fill up on garbage that actually makes me hungrier. So, i have two things working for me financially, one being a pouch to fill rather than a stomach, and the second being #2 healthy food rather than junk. Thanks again for WONDERFUL videos!

    Well...
I've been on the carnivore diet, since last summer, and have unintentionally lost forty pounds. Plus, my BP & A1C have normalized. Although, I was stretching my budget. for several months. Because I was buying and eating grass-fed meat, eggs & butter. Although, I, most definitely, am not well-off enough, to afford weekly purchases of grass-fed cow meat, eggs, etc. Consequently, per, this video, it's sufficient if I buy and eat cheap meat that's low in carbs, each week. If so, that's awesome and alleviates the pressure, to live beyond my means, just to maintain optimal health. Consequently, this information from Dr. Berry, is like, a breath of fresh air!!💯

    Let's agree to disagree.
    It's from my personal experience.
I used to buy sausage of about 12oz. It doesn't require keeping in cool place as it has plenty of different food preservatives. I usually eat it in a couple of days.
Once I did an experiment. I ate whole sausage in 1 day.
I felt very bad for an entire week. It wasn't about meat, but how much trash additives they add in there.
It was a good, but hard lesson for me and I am not going back.

I make my own processed food. For instance, I'm on the carnivore diet and to keep from missing bread, I grind up pork rinds and use them for flour in making waffles. My recipe includes pork panko (ground up pork rinds), and eggs. I mix them together well and pour this mixture into a couple of chaffle makers. I use these waffles as hamburger buns or just bread when I get an itch for bread. They re delicious... and even better if you slather butter on them and let it go melt into the depressions of the waffles. Wow... I'm making myself hungry!

American bologna used to be largely beef heart. Recently I saw an online review of four of the most popular brands. Two had tiny amounts of some sort of beef. Two had no beef at all and were largely mechanically separated chicken. Sad!
