✋🏽It was me 😊
I have different-sized O’s on my head. Some of my hair has a sheen and some has a shine. I think my strands are fine. I have a mix of cottony and silky hair.
Regarding product selection. I don't think we should select products based on porosity, strand size, or curl shape. This is based on what I've heard from cosmetologists.
I think your hair overall (all of its unique elements) and how you style it might determine whether you opt for a cream, mousse, or gel for a wash-and-go, for example. If you wear twists that you leave in, you might opt for a more buttery, thick product-regardless of your elements.
You need to consider how much product you use and whether or not you select a spray leave-in or a creamy leave-in. This is all personal preference.
One person with fine strands and low density might not want to weigh their hair down for a braid out and might opt for lightweight products. Another person with fine strands and low density might not care because they usually wear their hair in mini twists styled in a bun.
This is long 😆My point is - product selection is individual and there's no cut and dry formula.
Thank you for watching and recommending this chart for me to explore🤎🤎🤎
And that’s very true hair products should be determined primarily off personal choice and I feel like once women are giving a general idea they will be able to make a better informed decision about what products are best.
I feel because it’s so many products it wouldn’t be a bad idea to give an overview of products for each hair texture but like you said it is a personal choice.🤎
@@CoffeeCuties777 You're welcome! Yeah, there's so much nuance. It can be tricky.
Hair Porosity is the Most Accurate of All Testing!! It’s Been Proven, for High Porosity Hair, like myself!
I love how you're are centering black women. This makes me so happy. 😊
The numbers of the old system kind of remind me of the textures they’re describing 1 goes up & down like straight hair, 2 has a wave 🌊 look, 3 loops around like curls, 4 has a bit of a zigzag.
Thanks for commenting and I can see it now that you mention it …wow that’s pretty cool🤎
Andre Walker's system has always been problematic. With Type 4 hair, he recommended relaxing. Andre Walker never had a 4c texture. If you saw his book, people made that up on their own because 4a or 4b still left out types in the 4 category. It is texturist. I remember the LOIS system back in the day from the hair forums. I have fine strands, S pattern, cottony hair with sheen. Mizani has a chart that goes from 1-8 and covers elasticity, porosity, texture, growth pattern, and body/volume.
Thank you for commenting and wow I didn’t know he promoted Type 4 relax their hair…I gotta look more into him and do a indept video. And thank you for sharing another hair chart for me to explore. I will be doing a video on this one soon! Thank you so much🤎🤎🤎
Agreed the Andre Walker hair chart has so much flaws. Your hair might not even fit into the chart. There was no 3c either. The Lois Hair Chart seems better.
I choose products based on scalp concerns, strand size, density, curl pattern, and style if choice. My hair strands are fine and coily. Therefore, I don't have a medulla. Fine strands lack protein. Also, coils make the sebum difficult to go down the hair shaft. Both conditions lead to dry hair that is prone to breakage. Also, I get dandruff. So, I choose a shampoo targeted to control dandruff on my scalp and that gives a slight clarifying effect to remove the product buildup for the past two weeks. I follow up with a moisturizing shampoo and protein conditioner. My leave in conditioner focuses more on moisture. I two strand twist my hair with a styling lotion. It's lighter than a cream, heavier than a mousse, and less sticky and flaky than a gel. So, it's perfect for my fine strands and dense hair. I spray my hair with water everyday and seal with a very light liquid oil. I am retaining length and have minimal breakage and fairy knots.
Thank you so much for dropping tips for fine natural hair…do you have any fine natural hair influencers that you enjoy that I should look into?
I think we should create a chart for type 4 hair.
What would you like to see included in the chart? I’m going to review 3rd chart I found next week so we can gather the best parts of each one and come up with our own🤎
I always preferred the LOIS system. More accurate and personalized. It kinda was the standard until Walker’s system came out
Thanks for commenting and I definitely think it’s more personalized. I never heard about it until my subscriber recommended it. I think because I’m so use to the Andre Walker chart I like to mix them both up to feel like I’m getting the complete picture🤎
@@CoffeeCuties777The Andre Walker Hair Chart was originally for his personal clients, this is his how he created the hair chart based on his personal clients. It was not originally for the public. When he released it to the public, people were deceived to make it the blueprint.
I am majority O or 4A. There are some areas that are 3C with a little 3A and there are a couple strands in the 2 but those strands are very few. My hair is also fine. Sheen. High porosity. Cotton/spongy mix - more cotton.
I think I like this chart more than the Andre Walker one, however, we should definitely create our own. This one would make a great base for it tho!
I am type O/S with fine hair. Texture wise, the closest I can compare my hair to is silky and highly frizzy, although my hair is also high in sheen as well when I’m wearing twists
We definitely need to make our own hair chart frfr. Make it simple focusing on the hair patterns and leave off the other stuff. Those should be separate from the chart as that’s more individualistic whereas the chart should be the BEST generalized representation of 3c-4c
Thanks for commenting and I agree this is a nice base chart but I also feel we should focus more on hair patterns. I would personally like to get rid of the numbers and the letters with discussing hair patterns and replace it with cute names. What would you like to see? And I will definitely add a depictions of the 3c/4a mix because a lot of the subscribers have that hair type and majority of us have a mixture of hair and as long as type 4 is within that mixture I will represent it 🤎
@@CoffeeCuties777 I seen a video of side by side pictures of black hair next to trees. Idk if it was your channel or Chocolate Squad or Cocoa Club. But, the comparison of our hair shape and curls to the different trees was so beautiful to me because many compare our hair to plants that need all that tlc to flourish.
I typed “black hair and trees” on Pinterest and it definitely popped up 😂 We don’t have to do the tree references but those would be cute names
I love the new chart mostly because all types are what they are - not what is first or last.
i don’t knowwww 😭 this chart requires you to know a lot about your hair and i just took mine out of braids after coloring it
if i had to guess, i’d say i have a mix of fine o and s coils + a spongey hair texture but i kind of related to all the categories tho 😭 idk… but it’s almost wash day so i’ll probably update this then! 🎀🩷
edit: i’m not in *looove* with this chart but i do prefer it to the andre walker chart 🩷
Thanks for commenting and I agree this chart took a little more brain power to comprehend lol 😂 and yes please update me once you wash your hair🤎
I’m not in love with this chart either. Right now I like a mix between the 2 but a subscriber just recommended a third chart so I will be discussing that alternative as well.
I’m still leaning more towards creating our own but I want to see what we can learn from each existing chart and come up with the best chart that represents us.
What would you like to see highlighted in a chart made by us? Do you want to stick with hair patterns only or add all the additional details like the LOIS chart. Also I would like to get rid of the letters and numbers and replace it with cute names but what are your thoughts?🤎🤎🤎
I am here for this! You did a great job explaining this. There is definitely a change in the wind and this video ( and many others) will change the way the girlies look at their COILY hair. It’s about time!!
Thank you so much and thanks for watching 🤎
YAYYY i’m so excited!!! 🩷💕
I have o, l, and s
Nice🤎….what is your current hair routine since you have a mix of all 3 letters?
@@CoffeeCuties777 oiling and curl creams (for thick and low porosity hair)
This chart... I'm with it! 😊
Thanks for watching🤎Did you figure out your hair pattern, size and texture?
Yes! I'm type 0, fine, thready, with sheen (very high shine when stretched) ❤️
i have o and L
fine hair
thready
Nice🤎what is your current hair routine?
i got the same results. definitely prefer this system more
@@CoffeeCuties777 i put my hair in mini twist and i water and put oil in the in the morning and night. it has help my hair growth a lot
Love this 😀 ❤
Thank you 🤎🤎🤎
Is there an actual need for the segregation of hair?? Must everything have a label and checked in a box??
The purpose of the hair chart is so we can properly educated ourselves on how to take care of our hair so yes the separation and labeling is necessary because their own many different hair textures that require different types of care 🤎
My hair type is O, I have thick hair, my hair falls under sheen, and it’s spongy.
Nice 🤎🤎🤎
Every single black woman would just say they are O type instead of L type
Edit: it also is far less good because it makes O be extremely specific but S be extremely huge. This makes people be delusional.
Thanks for commenting and idk I think a lot of natural women are comfortable identifying as L as well. I know personally I’m majority L but I do agree it lacks nuance between the letters🤎
What would you like to see on a hair chart if you wanted one to identify your hair?
