MK7 Golf/GTI/R LED License Plate Lights Install

- THESE BULBS DO NOT HAVE RESISTORS, YOU WILL NEED TO USE VAG-COM TO CODE OUT THE ERROR -
In this video Mk6 Miles shows how to install the license plate LED bulbs onto Deren's MK7 GTI. This is a very simple/straightforward installation but it’s always useful to have a video to reference. All you'll need is the bulb, and something to pry the light housing out of the trim with. We recommend a soft trim removal kit.
This install was performed in a 2016 GTI. However, the same concepts and procedures hold true for all MK7 cars and is very similar for MK6. Of course, it is recommended that you verify fitment of the LEDs prior to purchasing. Lastly, please subscribe! We're trying to get to 100 subscribers so we can lock in our custom URL.

If I were to do this on my 2017 VW Golf Wolfsburg, are the LEDs simply Plug N Play, or does a system setting also need to be adjusted? Thanks!

Hey Brandon, since these were cheap bulbs without resistors, you need to code out the light error this would result in using VAG-COM (VCDS). If you don't have access to a computer/the software/the cables required, you can buy ones with resistors from a reputable seller like deAutoKey: deautokey.com/product/mkvii-gti-license-plate-leds-error-free-plug-play - you'd want to be sure to choose the "Resistors to remove errors included" before adding to cart.

Loosey goosey is how these things fit. Gonna have to put some tape on the end or something. For fifty bucks this shouldn't be an issue.

The LED bulb? Who did you buy them from?
Our deAutoKey bulbs fit fine. I imagine you could shove a small screwdriver into there and bend the prongs so it fits tighter.

Thank you for your comment. Yes, we had to use VCDS to resolve the license plate LED error (thank you for reminding). As for the specific brand, we're not allowed to disclose in the video but if you'd like to text us at 4152729399 we'd be happy to point you in the right direction.

Unfortunately we do not own a VCDS cable, we borrow ours. I can however, email you the text-based guide I used? It's not as good as a video, but I think it will suffice.
