Thanks Mac,you took the mystery out of why our local parts dealer couldn’t match my friends 2013 Passats plate lights. It’s an aftermarket led. Thanks again,Lester

Yeah the dealerships only know OEM part numbers that are specific to the cars VIN, so if there is anything aftermarket they won't be able to look that up. I am glad that I was able to be of assistance and help out.

I have a question, if one of the housing units doesn't have the Wire connected when you take it out, how would one replace it, and find the power connection to make it work?

I know this is an old video but would appreciate any kind of advice, I have a vw scirocco 15 plate and have tried replacing the reg lights with the LEDs. I can manage to click in the new ones to the car’s port, but in doing so it pushes the connectors out of the LEDs port. Any advice on how to make these fit as every video I’ve seen on UA-cam no one is having this issue, they simply click in job done. I’ve ordered some new LEDs off carmodshop so hopefully have more luck with those, I even tried using a flat head to reposition the connectors but to no avail. Cheers mate.

It seems like you're encountering an issue with the connectors popping out when you insert the light. If that's the case, there are a few potential reasons behind it. One possibility is that the connectors may not be of high quality or lack a secure locking mechanism, causing them to dislodge easily. Alternatively, there might be an issue with your car's factory harness.
To address this concern, my suggestion would be to consider investing in higher-quality connectors that firmly click into place, ensuring a secure connection. This could significantly reduce the likelihood of them coming loose during installation. Make sure to choose connectors known for their reliability and secure fit.
As a quick fix or workaround, you might want to try wrapping some electrical tape around the connectors before inserting them into the car's port or hole. This additional layer can provide extra grip and stability, minimizing the chance of them popping out.
If the issue persists despite these recommendations, there could be a more intricate problem with the car's wiring or harness. In that case, seeking professional assistance or consulting with an automotive expert might be the best course of action.
I hope these suggestions prove helpful. If the problem persists or if you have any additional details, please feel free to share, and we'll explore further solutions together.

@@MACSDIYmate I have to say not only is yours the best video I’ve seen demonstrating this process, but I really wasn’t expecting such a detailed and extensive response. Thank you so much I will try all of what you recommended. I’ve ordered some new LEDs and will try using some strengthening tape, if that doesn’t work then yes I’ll have to find someone with experience. If it helps your grasp of what I’m struggling with at all, my car is a facelift vw scirocco.
If I struggle again even with the new LEDs, would it be possible to send you a short video of the issues I encounter? If not I understand and will go to a technician. Thanks so much for your reply again!

@@keenansmith2509 Absolutely, no worries at all! I'd be more than happy to help if you encounter further issues, and sending a short video would definitely aid in understanding the specifics. Feel free to reach out if you need assistance - I'll do my best to guide you through it. If it comes to that, just drop me a message, and we can take it from there.
Of course, if you find it more suitable to consult a technician, that's completely understandable as well. Best of luck with the LED replacement, and don't hesitate to ask for help if needed.

@@MACSDIYspot on mate really really appreciate it, I think they might’ve arrived today but I’ve been at work so can hopefully give it a go fitting them in the morning. I’ve been told that autoleds product quality isn’t great and that the website I’ve ordered these new ones off is much better so fingers crossed.

@@MACSDIYI’m also quite confident these next ones will work as if the lights that were already in the car fit, then logically the car’s harness is okay and could fit another set of lights.

If you order the ones that I have then no you don't. Plug and play. I believe I purchased these from ECS TUNING.
