Well done, Dave, you are putting in the graft !! Looking forward to seeing you making the riceballs !! I'm enjoying the wonderful scenery especially the sequoias in Episode 4, wow !! Best of luck for the coming week ! 😘
Thanks Nigel, I can’t wait to see myself 😂 but as I always say, “the journey is the reward”. The race will be over in one day but I’ve had the pleasure of training in the hills for months. Now let’s see what happens 😉
Ha ha yes indeed, it was one of my first ultras and like all good newbies I blazed through the first half…and died a thousand deaths in the second half. I love SA so I’ll be back again some day to give Comrades another rattling. Thanks for tuning in 👍
Thanks Alex, my longest continuous run will probably be next Monday/Tuesday and will be no longer than 22 miles. There is no physiological benefit to running longer than about 3.5 hours. Sure it’s good for your head and for checking your pack/nutrition/footwear etc but I am happy enough with all that. I find longer runs steal from the quality of my runs later in the same week. In my opinion it is cumulative mileage that gets you to the finish line. But don’t get me wrong I do think it is very important to get a long run in…just not crazy long 😀
@@filmmytrailrun thanks for that, I'm running the CCC in September and for previous 100km races I've always tried to run a 50km long run before the event, but always ended up picking up a little niggle. I was toying with the idea of not pushing the long run this time and maybe doing a 20 mile run on the Saturday and a 15 on the Sunday instead.
