Powdered ginger tablets work wonders for settling the stomach, you can also get ginger energy gels from active root as well, although i haven't tried them. Good luck with the training.
Yeah, I’m of a similar ilk Phil. The training videos are nothing without an epic race video to cap it all off. I have a feeling this one is going to be off the scale
That’s one of the pieces I need to figure out. I’ve never used a pacer before so I’m not quite sure how I will like it…however, given that your pacer can carry all your gear in this race I’d be a fool not to explore the opportunity.
Try drinking peppermint tea as soon as you wake up on a training or race day. And during the race l find the peppermint and ginger based drinks from Active Root great for the stomach.
Thanks John, that makes sense. People have used ginger for years to counteract sea sickness. Don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. I’ll definitely add it to my aid station list. Thanks again 👍
Hi Dave. I suffer from the exact same issues after 60/70 miles, stomach refuses to take anything. A couple of weeks ago I did the Norn Iron 100, 70 miles could eat but after 20 miles of surviving on sports drink I discovered ambrosia rice and milk went down easy and the stomach settled, meaning I could eat again. I think introducing more solids or really foods and less gels could be the key. If you figure it, please let us all know and good luck for Leadville 💪👍
Thanks Aaron, yeah I agree with introducing more “real” foods but it is determining what will work best and not just sit in the stomach. I guess that what training is for 😊. Thanks for reaching out and passing on what you have learned.
Just catching up and I see you're on strava. Advice I've heard about Leadville: learn to burp yourself, apparently it's a big thing at that altitude after drinking/eating. Let me know also if you ever need a pacer, if I can I'd be honored to join you. And of course if you ever visit central Texas, reach out!
Thanks Thierry, yeah someone had mentioned the burping thing to me before. A bit strange but I guess the altitude does funny things to a fella. Have a think about your pacing proposition and if you think it adds up touch base with me and we’ll talk further 👍
Well done Dave, unbounding enthusiasm as we have come to expect from you !! Good luck with your prep for Leadville ! I’m with you all the way !! 😘
Cheers Murs, I’m looking for a pacer so lace up your boots 😊
See you in Leadville, mate! I'll be on the lookout for ya.
Ah good man, thanks for touching base Eric. I hope your preparations are going well and you are shaping up for the race of your life 🏃♂️💪

Thanks Alex, yeah will definitely need to add ginger, in one form or another, to my pack list. 👍
@@filmmytrailrun it's worked for me, although it could just be a placebo.
Good luck!
Thanks Johnny, I have a feeling Leadville is going to be really special.
Wow an epic race. I’m not a huge fan of training videos but will LOVE seeing your race video.

@@filmmytrailrun Will you be going it alone or taking along someone to help crew/pace you?

Leadville is going to be a criac
It sure is Hein. My body feels strong at the moment so with some solid training it should be EPIC!!
