CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Ed (Ewan McGregor) makes a grand romantic gesture for Sandra (Alison Lohman), and when her fiance beats him up, she decides she likes Ed better.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Tim Burton directs the fantasy drama Big Fish, based on the book Big Fish: A Novel of Mythic Proportions by Southern writer/illustrator Daniel Wallace. Billy Crudup plays William Bloom, a young man who never really knew his dying father, Edward (Albert Finney) outside of the tall tales he told about growing up, making his way, and meeting his mother (played as a young woman by Alison Lohman and in older age by Jessica Lange). During Edward's last days, William and his wife Josephine (Marion Cotillard) hold bedside vigil as the old man recollects elaborate memories of his youth (in which he is played by Ewan McGregor). Still doubting the the legends and folklore, William makes a journey to meet a mysterious woman (Helena Bonham Carter) from whom Edward had bought property. Steve Buscemi and Danny De Vito also star.

Her smile is beautiful. Burton made Lohman look angelic in this film.
spam?..a lot of hoop jumping towards what end?...jumped through a few and never saw the light..
Yes she’s ridiculously gorgeous and angelic
I know man I fell in love at first glimpse
Don't forget his. :D
She IS angelic!
I love the fact that they planted the daffodils for this scene instead of using CGI!
Seriously, cuz Tim Burton is obsessed with CGI !!! He goes overboard. That why I hate some of his works. 😅
@Ks CGI usually ages poorly compared to practical effects/props.
@@Guah00unless done right of course
@@MilaMila20240He has only used it more in latest work because he's grown more lazy, but you can see that in most of his work he doesn't like to use CGI and always prefers practical effects, he continued to use stop-motion animation in the early 2000s up until 2013 with Frankenweenie, when most studios were already using CGI, he always prefers to do things practically, the only films in which he's overused CGI have been Alice in Wonderland and Dumbo, the Disney remakes he probably didn't care that much about.
Exactly....
I feel like every role he plays he's always a sweetheart
ahaha even in Birds of Prey he played a VILLAIN and I couldn't help but love him
starry eye vibes you haven’t watched trainspotting
Space Cowboy his best role and most powerful
In sunset song he was sweet until he wasn't...
Ah, watch trainspotting)
the imagery from this movie is just stunning
Poor David Denman, always the jerk losing his fiancé. First Sandra, then Pam.
Wait, he's from the office? I thought I recognised him but I wasn't sure
Oh yea...he was Roy...
+Emmett Del He doesn't deserve any girl in his life.
Andrew Wilson but he did get married another woman in 6th or 7th season

I love this scene because Edward Bloom kept his promise
A yo hope you met someone keeping promises now
Most people are human, Silvver. Ed Bloom was...well, he was something a little more than most of us.
Like James Andrew, I hope you've met someone that's kept their promises.
He always does😢
It’s crazy how much she looks like a young Jessica Lange. They casted everyone so perfectly.
The way she talks, how she moves her hands. Incredible.
I love this scene. I wish someone will propose to me in a field of daffodils ...especially if he is as charming as Ewan Mcgregor!
***** Not even in my dreams does this happen lol
and your right
Haha u'll find someone..
there's always some charming, handsome or some rich guy......no one look at the average looking, shy ones who are actually more loving, caring and romantic than the charming ones
I hope you find him ❤️

2:00 that bloody smile is to cute, I mean what’s not to love about ewan mcgregor 😍💖
There are not enough words to describe how much I love this film.
Man if only Dwight had been there with the pepper spray
This was in the late 1940s so Dwight wouldn't even be born until 1966.
Dwight's grandpa failed to show up
Honestly Ewan McGregor is always the best part of all of his movies even he always the master of trolling.
Poor Roy keeps getting his girl stolen
Andrew Pinay 😂
Andrew Shepard thinking the same thing
I just can't resist how charming he was and still is😍
I never understood why Allison Lohman retired from acting....I mean I understand that she wanted to raise her baby but still she was sooooo talented and beautiful
Sodapop246 8 apparently Justin Long and Sam Raimi have talked about doing a sequel to Drag Me To Hell. So there’s hope for a return!
You know how Hollywood works....
Personal decisions are personal decisions. No explanations needed.

one of the most beautiful scenes Tim Burton ever created.
Jerk: whatsamatter? are you scare to fight back?
Ewan: i have the higher ground
Ewan: I have the moral high ground!
I liked how he smiled knowing his teeth were bloody. 😃
Why didn't you use the force, obi-wan?
maybe he was weakened by the dark side?
Because it would be "unnecessary use of the force"
BigNoseDoggie he did, the force of LOVE
@@UngwaUria SCUMBAG ALERT
Because he's the master of trolling.
The fun part with his stories is trying to look through the exaggerations to find what really happened. His werewolf boss was probably a mean drunk. His friend who robbed a bank probably shoplifted, or tried to. He lost the fight cause Don was bigger, but Sandra had probably asked them both at the get-go not to fight, so he used that as his excuse. On the one hand, I kind of wish the father had just told his son the real stories, but it is cute at the end when the son realizes his Dad did at least tell him real things that happened, he just stretched them.
Like every other writer/storyteller that hides their truths in the shape of stories
My legs would've flown open so quick, oh my god.....

This is my favorite film from Tim Burton, lovely story and love the moral
it's all about that "look" when she smiles and looks down out the window
This movie is a masterpiece 😍. I watched it when i was 8..now i'm 25..the love scenes from this movie are absolutely gorgeous same goes Alison Lohman.. Pretty woman ❤️
i love Ewan McGregor more than anything
same. and james mcavoy too. 🤍😫
As much as I love Big Fish, the one thing I hate about this movie is that Don never gets to have anything he deserves. He finds out from an early age he'll die young from looking in the witch's eye, and since then Edward overshadows his life with achievements far greater than his own. Edward is the teen hard-throb of Ashton, adored and loved by everyone, whilst Don is mediocre at best - a sad characiture who, try as he might, can never quite do as well as Edward. The whole scene depicting Edward's domination of sports testifies to that.
But what makes this truly unfortunate is that when Don finally finds someone he loves, Edward - who could have ANY girl he wanted - had to come in and ruin it for him. And whilst Sandra rightfully doesn't belong to anyone, you can see why he's so possessive as Edward has belittled him his entire life and now shows up out of nowhere to steal his girl. I mean, what did Edward expect him to do? Just say 'Hey Ed, cheers for making my life look like crap, take my fiancee please!"? Edward just can't let him have anything, and as a result Don dies a humiliating death.
It would have been fine if Don had been the primary antagonist but he wasn't. They should have at least made Don's character more of a dick if they were going to rob him of happiness. It's never really explained why he's one of Ashton's 'biggest jerks', so I don't appreciate how he loses everything so Edward can be happy. It only sends the message that if your efforts are overshadowed by someone else, that someone will likely continue to rob you of a happy life until you have nothing left.
I am going to watch the movie again to see if I agree.
Yeah, I felt bad for Don Price. From the way I saw it, Edward is the true asshole. Even in his own story.
You know I hear where your coming from but I think that's what their characters were always trying to represent, Edward from a young age had always been a person who was optimistic and decided to reach his limits and push beyond those to live his life in a way where he can't be defeated by himself, vs Don who was always trying to compete to beat Edward at something so he could have SOME pride for himself it's a classic Man Vs Himself situation. I think What the story was trying to say was the man who tries to conquer another can only get so far while the man who tries to conquer himself can achieve literally anything ^~^
Wow spot on! That's what I felt too. Don would've done much better if he would've stopped comparing himself to Edward.
Don was considered the town jerk. He lived a life of jealously. Even though Edward was the all-star player at least his teammate cheered while Don sat jealous that he didn't have the spotlight. The point of Don was uncontrolled rage and hate can do harm to yourself. During Jennifer's story you learn that she is considered the witch in the beginning of the movie. Seemingly impossible because it happened when Edward was a young kid but that is how you learn that story is one of Edward's tall tales. Don did not actually know how he was going to die. Edward knew because when he told the story Don had already died. Hence why you don't see Edward's death because he truly does not know how it will happen.
I loved this film when I was a kid, and seeing it again and finding out that David Denman (Roy from the Office) was playing the bully is just hilarious. Roy never gets it right 😂
If Obi Wan had his lightsaber, Don would be a dead man.
McGregor is one of the most amazing actors.
Oh my... God... She is the most prettiest angelic girl I've ever seen
I remember seeing this the first time and it just taking my breath away. So beautiful and SO romantic!
"I have the rest of my life to find out" ballsy af
Ewan Mcgregor's smile is sooooo cute 😳❤️
She is so beautiful and innocent! ❤
It's been many years since I've watched this film but this scene has always stayed in my subconscious....
My guy Roy stay taking L’s. First Pam, now Sandra.
The way this movie has me in an emotional chokehold after all these years. 😭
I've never seen this in my life, but this scene is adorable
He has the high ground.
0:07. Come on, pure beauty of a shot. This is flim making.
I really want to have a future husband just like him :(
This movie changed me.. lol
aww those two are so cute. i felt so bad for him when he didn't fight back.
I love the fact that the guy got hit by a massive dose of karma while on the toilet.
I've been confused with what he says in the scene before this. He says that she was engaged to his town's biggest jerk. He was only a jerk to him when they were kids, but he kept to himself as they got older.
Just seen it. This is my favourite Tim Burton movie.
she did a great job at incorporating some of jessica lange’s hand mannerisms
Can’t believe Roy beat up Obi-Wan. That wasn’t very civilized of him
Roy just never catches a break.
Don beated Edward because he is taller, he had the high ground
Now, to be fair, look at this from Don's perspective. He was shown how he would die at a young age. Throughout his high school years, he constantly lost to a guy and was never appreciated. Then, the same guy shows up years later and steals his fiancee. I would probably want to beat Edward up too. And he also dies at a young age, yet we are supposed to cheer at that. I honestly felt bad for Don, I wanted him to get a happy ending.
That scene reflects my impossible dream!!
I love Alison Lohman
I’m not a huge movie person but I love this one.
Watched this when i was young. I still consider this the best film i ever watched.
It occurs to me now more than it used to that Edward Bloom is a rather self-absorbed guy. Being nice and being self-absorbed are very different. lol
0:03-0:09 I honestly cry from how beautiful it is. The yellow daffodils and the instrumentals. It’s like how love feels when you know you have found the one.
0:30 I need someone who will be this loyal and sweet.
I'm going to propose next year and I want to do it exactly like this. I just don't know how to get my hands on this many daffodils
call everyone you know who has daffodils

1 of the greatest films of all time
She's an angel 😍
Poor Don first this girl then Pam.. man can’t get a break.
Beautiful cinematic moment, I love this 💖🤩❤✨
You can kinda understand Don Price’s anger here. Just when you thought life was going good and you meet a woman you love and get engaged to, the guy who did everything better at you in life just shows up out of nowhere and tries to steal your girl and ends up succeeding 😂
Either way, Don never would’ve been able to enjoy life with Sandra because he saw he would die young and kept pushing his limits until his heart valve ceased functioning.
@@quinna5537 exactly what makes this story more sad
Poor Roy keeps getting his fiancé stolen from him.
I live everyday to do right by her. Idc that she doesn't feel the same all I care about is that her heart is taken very good care of. I love you Caiti.
This is really beautiful.
Sometimes you don't need to fight . U Need patient 🙏
i love this movie so much
it's sad to see that Roy's girl has once again been taken away.
And later on he losses Pam too 😂
Well at least Edward took the moral "high ground" if you will :D
my most fave scene ever! ♥
Such a great movie
The fact that blue could’ve whooped him and didn’t gets me every time
Where's Dwight when you need him?
