CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Susan (Claire Forlani) and a young man (Brad Pitt) share a special moment together after meeting in a coffee shop.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The cycle of life on Earth hangs in the balance when Death becomes emotionally involved in this romantic fantasy. William Parrish (Anthony Hopkins) is a tremendously wealthy and powerful man who oversees a worldwide multi-media empire. Despite the loss of his wife, whom he dearly loved, William is content with his life, and he's very close to his two daughters, Allison (Marcia Gay Harden) and Susan (Claire Forlaini). One night, as William is fighting a hostile takeover of his company and Allison is planning an elaborate party to celebrate her dad's 65th birthday, William begins displaying the symptoms of a severe heart attack, and he is visited by a mysterious stranger, Joe Black (Brad Pitt). Joe is actually the angel of death, who has taken the form of a man who recently passed on to pay William a call. It seems that William is due to move on to the next world, but (no great surprise) he doesn't want to go. Joe, on the other hand, is curious to know what life is like for mere mortals, so the two men strike a deal -- William will have some time to get his affairs in order, and Joe will wait and see what it's like to be a human being. Joe decides that he likes it very much when he falls in love with Susan, but negotiating the slippery slopes of romance is no easier for Joe than for any ordinary man. Meet Joe Black is an updated version of Alberto Casella's play Death Takes a Holiday, which was adapted for the screen in 1934.

When she likes you, she’ll let you know in one way or another. She’ll chase you, you don’t need to do nothing.
There's nothing better than meeting the sweetest person in your life. And the other person feeling the same way.
yeah then getting ran over by two cars speeding through in the intersection just makes EVYTING GWAN BE IRE
calm down memphis, it is a movie. Not everything is humor related, this was an excellent declaration by Gravics.
People are not just sweet though. You have to live with somebody.
i just met the sweetest person.. but he doesn't feel the same. :)
gravics It is without question THE most intoxicating thing on earth. Nothing like it. Closest thing to actual magic there is. And my God it hurts when it is gone or unrequited.
i still get so upset the times they miss each others' lookbacks...
Agreed with your comment. I felt the same way.
The script really made this film special. I mean, the casting was brilliant, but the script and the way the characters speak really captivated me. It's kept me coming back to this film year after year. The score also... I mean it's paced very slowly, but each scene is just filled with incredible depth. Great film!
It would’ve been better if they just made a love story between these two instead of bringing death into the equation. The chemistry here is 🔥
Same here
@@umtum I was disapointed when I found him speaking as death and acting like Mr Bean afterwards...clueless, however he did grow on me, and overall the film was great.

Brad Pitt getting smoked by those two cars remains the single most surprising movie moment of my entire life.
LOL
I remember it was an early UA-cam video, and for those that thought it was real was because we didn’t see this film.
Just like him getting shot in Burn after Reading when he was in the closet that was so crazy lol
I have to say, your use of the term “ smoked” made me laugh very hard lool. I agree w you too
my most surprising movie moment happened in The Crying Game--anyone else?
especially given the tone of the movie and how almost comical that was. because they ever focused on it like a normal romantic movie with a death. it was just there and done and moved on lol.
I used these exact words to charm a beautiful woman, me being a short, fat, bald man i thought i stood no chance, but i got to tell you it worked. She ran me over with a car.
Great Success (Borat's voice)
I'm sorry but I laugh so damn hard at ur comment xD

damn watching this from 2021, makes this scene out of some other universe, the feeling, the music, and the way they talk, no movies do that now, its crazy....

I introduced my sister to this movie just a couple months ago. She’s OBSESSED with it now. She’s seen it twice already and said it’s her favourite movie. Well.. she’s probably just obsessed with brad Pitt but then again who isn’t lol
I love older movies from all decades of the 20th century but I'm very glad this type of maudlin sappy movie stayed in the 90s.

Omg the beauty of Claire is not a joke she is outshining Brad
no she is not. brad looks better. if she was angelina jolie tho maybe.
You watch your mouth! Brad is a national treasure lol
Yea she looks better than him, but I mean she's wearing much more ambitious make-up than he is, I'd like to see this scene shot with both fresh out of the shower. It's crazy to compare someone to someone wearing a ton of make-up. Like comparing your benchpress to a dude's who is wearing a bench-shirt
This scene gets me everytime. Everyone knows that "should i?" " what if" feeling?
Exactly
“Shall we?”
“Sure hope a car doesn’t run into me while I’m just standing in the middle of the crossroad during a red light”

those feelings are the worst and mostly responsible for people staying alone, just do it and dont look back, no regrets
These are the types of movies that keep me single, waiting for a moment like this, even though it's never going to happen.
Keep waiting for Chad
@@cosmicdust7098 actually, his name is Brad
I don't understand why society tells women to wait for the their dreams to come to them. Nothing or no one of great quality just walks into our lives, we need to earn those things that are highest value because everybody else wants the same. Those who wait around will always be the losers

These two were at their prime. Almost everyone who had watched this film had fallen for them.
I just finished watching this movie on netflix, I've never thought that this movie is such an amazing one. The message is so deep and the love portrayed in this movie is so strong. Makes me wonder what I have done in my life and also with the people around me 🥺

@@Sophiechicit's okay whatever false fun we want to have here with intoxication, s*x, relationshis but we should live our lives in such a way that at the time of departure there are no regrets, at the end we say that "I've lived a satisfying and complete life and show our gratitude for being born" Thankful that we were given a chance to experience all the colours of this life" But sadly most go with regrets and without experiencing life in it's true form. They mistake the accessories of life as life and keep living in a trap of money, luxury, women, relationships, drugs, alcohol.. and when the time gets over we regret that we've wasted our lives on such meaningless things 😔😔

To me, this movie had the most chemistry between 2 actors that I've ever felt. It blew me away how great the acting was. It felt real🥰
Top Gun Mav & Charly might be the best
I thought the chemistry between Lloyd and Harold in "Dumb and Dumber" was the best of the best.
The fact they’re both ridiculously beautiful helps!
Because they both slept with each other on set
Couldn’t agree more. There have been great couples on movies but the actors in this movie used the pause, the short silence sooo well that you can feel the depth of how they feel about each other vividly. And it’s just making you feel like you are in the movie and watching the couple
The chemistry between the cast is amazing from beginning to end

Very underrated movie, don't get all the hate at the time of release or after, it's a very special and moving story and film, and features one of the most evocative soundtrack themes ever created, whisper of a thrill.

This movie is quite meaningful actually. It talks about love from different aspects: love from father ti daughter, daughter’s love to her father. Romantic love, family love, selfish love and selfless love. A very rare topic that nowaday’s movie would explore
"Blue pill" idea of what romantic love is
Easily one of the most underrated films ever made. A 3 hour movie that didn't feel 3 hours. Claire Forlani was one of my celebrity crushes growing up. So gorgeous.
*stands in the middle of a busy road with fast moving cars*
Hmmmm now would be a good time to contemplate the meaning of my life, love and the universe....
+heshm9 I went from feeling shocked and sad after watching that scene - to laughing my ass off.
hahahahaaha
+heshm9 I laughed, your comment is *killing* me
+heshm9 In some grand idiotic magnificent way it kind of is tho. For example I think we've all had some pretty deep thoughts while driving, but really we should focus on the driving. If those profound distracted drivers coulda focused they wouldn't have hit poor profound lover-boy there heh he XD
Have to admit i laughed, get out the road you pillock haha!
This is such a sweet subtle scene actually (not the end bit lol) but i think everyones had a moment where you have a connection with someone and it feels slightly otherworldly and amazing and a bit scary and you're not sure wether to act or not, and the indecisiveness that goes with it, eep.
+Chloe Lane I concur
true. I like to think she's actually turning around when I'm not looking. but I guess I'll never know.
It is superficial, insubstantial. This is just a matter of
attractiveness and seduction. That is not the life. That is not the
Love. Human beings like to be flattered and admired but it means
absolutely nothing. This scene is just about squeamishness and Ego.
Chloe, Good point. There has lots of meaning in this movie. It is really beautiful one.
Well said, this is very true. It doesn't happen often.. but it does.. it's magical.
The accident part is so goofy and sudden I kind of love it
This is one of the legendary and most beautiful and same time hurting scene in the history of Cinema ever... Especially that heart melting background music 🖤
Claire Forlani's performance in this is to me unforgettable. She took my breath away in this movie & became one of my favorite actresses. Love you ,Claire!
@Yvonne Cheung What an incredibly rude thing to say! I think she still looks great..everyone ages, does Brad look as gorgeous now as he did in this movie?, ugh no. People look their best when in their 20's and 30's generally speaking. You would be lucky to have ever looked as good as her.. just really rude!!
Gal Gadot looks like her
Claire's performance in this movie was worthy of an Oscar nomination and should have been given some serious consideration. Unforgettable. Her inner beauty augmented her outer beauty here. What a gorgeous woman!
I saw her last week working at El Pollo Loco. She still looks great!
I’m not usually the type of person who sees lots of movies but this was the first time I saw this actress. would love to see her doing more stuff, she’s incredibly talented and very beautiful.
I can't tell if this scene is supposed to be super depressing or super funny
man how can u watch the movie an say that, the angel of death took his body, the guy talking to her wasnt death.
Context is your compass.
this movie was intended to be a dark comedy instead of a sappy melodramatic chick flick

this happened to me the other day. worst feeling in the world. when you can just look at someone and connect so deeply with them and know that this is the last time you’ll ever see them
vaniteen well hopefully everything is all good
Antonio Matthews hahaha thank you
yeah, or when you know you'll never have a chance with them or ruin multiple friendships and your relationship with the person for being too sudden with them. I met a guy that I crushed on the first time I met him, I find it really hard to form connections with people but everything felt right with him. Fast forward I didn't see him for months, I was at my friends 18th and he was there, for some reason people thought we were a couple, we barely even talked to each other the whole time at the party. I get very anxious in social situations and I prefer to stand back, but as the night went on we spent hours and hours talking to each other, we had so much in common, morals, interests and ideologies it was actually scary. I would start to say things and he'd legit guess what I was going to say next to the point where we were laughing so much from how similar we were. Since then we've become really good friends and it's kind of strange because my friends mum thinks we'll get together eventually. I've caught up with him a few times since and I was so scared to think I like him, I mean, we connect so deeply on so many levels but at the same time he's not the guy I ever thought I'd find myself falling for. But I just don't see how it could ever work out, we have quite a vast age difference and because he's practically family (a really close friend and family friend) I could never ruin our friendship.
@@pemmialcantara8040 You just friendzoned him..
@@pemmialcantara8040 Good luck finding another connection like that! Should just for what you want. If more women did that, we'd all be better off!
Where in the hell are guys like Brad Pitt's character? Why can't I have a coffee shop scene like this is my life, just once???
+FeelinErie Same here. Such a subtle romantic scene. And ignore the naysayers...you aren't suppose to look...the guy is suppose to find you....and he will:-)
+FeelinErie Damn, some of these comments are rough. I would have just said that all of them have be hit by cars.
+salmonking007 I agree. I forgot that I commented under this video, so maybe my initial comment was somewhat over emotional. I have had worse said to me in the past, so negative comments about my appearance mean nothing to me now:)
FeelinErie No, your comment wasn't over emotional...it was a legitimate comment...every girl would like to have that 'coffee shop scene' like the scene in this movie. This is the guy finding the girl (like I mentioned in my comment above). The guy finds his lady soulmate.
+MsVanillaSugar took me a long time...but its important that i am here now...you can grab my hand, but before everything,we will stand still for few seconds like Titanic long way down there in the cold water, just for few seconds to let our souls fly together, just for few seconds to see how high they can reach...time to shine, don't let bullets take our fame, let our emotions penetrate the clouds like no bullet can...

Besides dying, this happened to me 3 days ago. I was sitting on the tram on my way home, and outta the corner of my eye I kept noticing this girl who was more or less staring at me. I had the gumbo to look at her and oh my god I swear this girl was an angel on earth. I was supposed to get off in a couple minutes, and she never really stopped looking at me. When I pressed the stop button I saw her jolt for a split second, as if awakening from a trance. When I stood up to get off, I stopped for 3 seconds and looked her in the eyes. I could tell she wanted to get off with me, or for me to at least ask or nod at her. But I just panicked and got off. As the tram started leaving, I was walking and cursing at myself, I looked up and her hand was on the window and she was looking right at me. It turned the corner and I've hated myself ever since.
I live in a city with 200,000 people in it, so the chances of me ever seeing her again are slim to none. But God do I hope so
You’ll meet her again if it’s meant to be

Everyone can fee the sadness in Pitt’s eyes when he believe he’ll never see her again. The loss of love.
A very well-made scene, the part in which they both turn around continually without meeting each other's sight is a masterpiece, and it is so because on the paper it's something that has 90% of chances of being ridiculous or hilarious, but here you see the skills of a director!

"Meet Joe Black", an All Time Favorite movie of mine but very underrated. Both Brad and Claire looked stunningly beautiful and their chemistry was electrifying.
Really, lighting strikes!
the most beautiful scenes of the entire movie. just so beautiful
Always loved this movie...I remember going to the theaters three times to see this movie when it was released. Then buying it twice on VHS tape and even have the DVD copy. Something spiritual about this movie. And oh so romantic too. Don't watch it much nowadays, but this movie will always be one of my favorites.
Keep in mind both leads are non-religious. The central message of the movie is love, for life and others. That transcends religious beliefs.

Bought the VHS twice!? Damn, you were hardcore.
Fruit Farm Factory 😂😂😂...yes I was...and don't forget I have a DVD copy too👍🏽!!!
smurfyday Hmmmm...you make a good point about 'love transcending religious beliefs.' Funny how just this week I had this same conversation with a Pakistani Muslim guy friend who asked me (being that I am a Christian), if given the chance to marry a Muslim guy would I convert to his religion, Islam. I told him 'when GOD ordains two people to marriage, regardless of religious differences, GOD destined those two people to be together and with that they will love and respect each other in spite of their religious differences.' I told him that I would not convert and that I do not expect or will not ask him to convert. If religious differences is the issue, then they aren't meant to be. One must listen to GOD for HE is the deciding factor🛐. Always GOD first IMO.
I think we can all agree that Brad Pitt is phenomenal actor
Best of the best
To me Claire Forlani will always be one of the great beauties of the 1990's
1:21 smile though 😳
Everytime i see this moment in that movie, i got tears in my eyes. I don´t know, it touches me. And she got that look, so authentic, so scared, so fragile. Love that movie.
If this scene was in this "era" (2020):
Brad: Smiles and says good mourning
Claire: Headphones on, looking down checking her instagram
So dam true!
You've said it sir.
So much of life is missing
Wowo I guess we really live in a scoiety
Brad: Smiles and says good morning
Claire: Looks up, says "will you quit harassing me"

Brad : Smiles and say good morning
Claire : Call the police, army, navy and RPG 😂😂
It's like seeing someone for the first time, like you can be passing on the street, and you look at each other for a few seconds, and there's this kind of a recognition like you both know something. Next moment the person's gone, and it's too late to do anything about it. And you always remember it because it was there, and you let it go, and you think to yourself, 'What if I had stopped? What if I had said something?' What if, what if... it may only happen a few times in your life.- Jack Foley(Out of sight 1998)
Everything about this movie is the best. The actors, the beautiful score by Thomas Newman, the script; everything.
This scene has such shock value! Going from soft romantic to... well, you know what
Hello my lovely fan. How are you doing nice to meet you here. I really love and appreciate your comment thanks for your love and support. For how long have you been watching my movies❤️💐💋
These two would've had incredible looking children together.
I think she's prettier than ol' Angie.
And maybe the marriage would last
you still would have said the same thing if brad had married her and Angelina was thr in this movie.
@@Priyanka-hy5qs no he wouldnt. Point is angies too bright
Most beautiful moment of brad pitts film career
I love this filming; -how they stretched a moment we all face regularly and made it see through with such outcome!
I rarely came across such a comment section. Just mature genuine people who tell us about their missed opportunities in love. Shows even though we live in this superficial era some people just are looking for love, the real deal.
Brad the way hd looks..doesn't even need to open his mouth to get a girl
Hell yeah!
@@musiclyricluver9855 but from the other side, i love the fact that most of gorgeous women are into confident guys..not really superficial like us ..men.
rami romi nope, women are as superficial as us men. Only in movies hot women are attracted to confident men, in real life hot women are attracted to hot men.

Please do not characterize all of us on equal level, in terms of how we judge others. Now, "looks" may be important to you, but not to me. It does nothing for me.
Why
I love this movie. I don't care if it's long. The music is gorgeous. It's so heart wrenching in the end that I cry every time.
Wat is the tittle

To meet someone like this , and have it click from the get go. Its so rare. Especially these days when everyone is just swiping left or right. I miss this kinda meeting. I miss this fated kinda magic so much
I saw this movie with my ex wife and it immediately became my favorite movie ever. my wife was my world . we laughed together , cried together . If i had never met her would not know what life is.. she has been gone for 13 years now.
So sorry. I hope you find someone as special as your ex wife someday if you already haven't since I'm responding 6 years later. Best of luck to you.
sorry for the late question , but how is it now? have you found someone you like?
