      His views don't represent the views of Americans, because the Americans are full of sh*t, and can't look at themselves honestly. That's why his views don't line up with the views of an average American.

      For crying out loud, I emigrated to Britain, I'm not white and I fucking love this place.
      I've yet to have experienced any racism from white people in this country. In the more than 20 years I've been here the only racism I experienced was when I was a teenager living in South Kilburn and that was from Afro-Caribbeans (we were the only South Asian family in our block at the time). You want racism? Try being an Algerian in France (close of mate mine has stories to tell), or a black person in parts of Spain.
      We ain't perfect, there's lots of room for improvement - always will be, but we are better at this than just about the rest of the world that's for sure.

      Like I stated we ain't perfect but we are better at this than just about anywhere else right now. Take that how you want. One way to look at it is to realise how much worse it is in most other places. Basically, to be an ethnic minority in any country in the world that is not a Northern European nation fucking sucks for the most part.
      I have Algerian mates who've backed this up, Muslim mates who grew up in Spain who could back this up, I've also experienced it myself when travelling through Spain last year for example.
      Also, Brighton is overrated; Bournemouth for the win 😋😁

    This left/right, pro/anti immigration thing is soon going to be overshadowed by automation anyway.
    If you think the threat of cheap labor from immigration was an issue just wait til automation really takes off.
    Whats currently feasible yet underused, or in its infancy at present - automated manufacturing (including modular home construction), automated warehousing, automated banking and retail, automated transport.
    There'll still be SOME jobs of course in, but it will be for 10 times less general workers, a few engineers and a skeleton crew.
    Just as there used to be 100 men with shovels on the building site til diggers and cranes came along, or 100 typists and admin staff til printers and pc's arrived.

    • @diegowushu
      @diegowushu 9 років тому +2

      Doubtful. You can't penny pinch a machine: you have fixed costs in materials, maintenance and engineering that can't really be avoided. With minimum wage workers, you can always get them to work for less, or work more hours (or else they'd be out of work, and there's 20 other guys waiting for that one job). There's limits to automation.

    • @tedcrilly46

    • @richardcrooks6713
      @richardcrooks6713 6 років тому +2

      @@diegowushu, every argument you've used applies equally to a machine. You can always pay a person less you say? You can always reduce the costs of running your machines by buying more efficient machines, which will be developed when employers start using them and creating demand for them. You can get staff to work longer hours you say? Well you can get a machine to work 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

    When do you have better payed jobs? When you have limited workforce pool or unlimited?
    If you have limited workforce the employers must fight for workers and must innovate, so they can do as much work as possible with less people (automated lines). Or you just have shitty jobs because you know you gonna get workers from unlimited pool of immigrants.

    This was years before we all had smart phones, and alternative media was not like it is today. Back then the BBC was like a Big Brother corp with the newspapers all singing from the same song book. Those corporate comedians kept a media silence on the r'pe gangs around the uk commintes by the immigrants. As did the polititians.
    Ironically, Charlie Brooker wrote a brilliant Netflix series similar to Hunger Games were they allow atrocities but keep the glare on fluffy bunny dancing and comediens like Doug and Charlie laughing of the mob😮

    Saying that immigrants don't steal highly skilled jobs is irrelevant. We can't all be doctors or lawyers or engineers. There aren't anywhere near enough high-skilled jobs for everyone. So when immigrants are willing to work for a third of what you require to live your normal life, that's ruining for a tremendous amount of people.
    I don't mind joking about it, but it's a serious problem with no easy solutions. Ignoring it or telling people to "just get educated" or whatever is wholly unhelpful.

    • @youwinoneinternets
      @youwinoneinternets 10 років тому +2

      Agreed, pisses me off how people make it into a race or prejudice issue when in reality it's the blatant fact that there's not even enough jobs as it is in the UK right now, something like 4 people unemployed for every available job, and on top of that the security of welfare is being stripped away, it's just madness to let more people in.

    • @MinesAGuinness

      "So when immigrants are willing to work for a third of what you require to live your normal life", that is a sign that they are willing to work a lot harder for it before signing on. Yet here I was being led to believe by the press that immigrants were coming here to take our benefits. I won't side with people who think your way until you decide as to which of these mutually exclusive justifications you subscribe. Apart from which, I thought that we were all supposed to be supporting Austerity Britain, where we have all agreed to scoff at socialistic notions such as a living wage and unions, sign up for zero-hours contracts and support business competitiveness. Did I miss the last UKIP memo?

      MinesAGuinness "I won't side with people who think your way until you decide as to which of these mutually exclusive justifications you subscribe"
      I don't see how they're mutually exclusive. It's possible for a group of people to not act 100% the same. Immigrants can simultaneously be willing to work for very little and be content with the support they can get from government assistance. I don't see how this could be a problem for you.
      I'm not from the UK, so I'm unaware of what you're referring to, and you aren't forced to hold certain beliefs just because you acknowledge that you simply cannot let 100% of people into your country. It's unreasonable to think otherwise.

      Yes, and willing to live in much worse conditions, like renting a dilapidated oom and sharing it with half a dozen other guys.
      Which means you and your family would have to accept a similar living standard if you are to stay competitive.
      Basically you're getting outcompeted into poverty.
      That's the reason why labour unions were created in the first place back in the day, by the way - to prevent this exact thing from happening domestically.
      Otherwise it's a spiral of "willing to work a lot harder", and a lot harder still.

    Doug is hilarious as usual, but on this issue he's missing the real point. Poorly educated immigrants just saturate the unskilled jobs market that's already struggling under huge unemployment rates, and being willing to work insane hours for less than minimum wage if the employer gets away with it gives them a huge advantage over natural citizens.
    As for those of them who won't find employment, Britain's welfare net is being torn to shreds by your friendly neighbourhood conservatives, leaving the already poor and disabled in state of suicidal misery, more immigrants is just going to make the issue worse.

      Oh sure, it is always good to see a smart big person. Yes, the logic, which Stanhope presents here and which many other people share is a manipulation. In any society there will always be people, who will do jobs requiring low skills and consequently paying less. However, a 40-year old low-skilled worker, who lives like anybody else paying his taxes, insurances and mortgages and feeding his kids, can not compete with an illegally hired person, who is ready to live in slums and work twice as much for an amount, which is three or four times less than a legal worker gets. This worker is not to blame. And it is an idiotic position to blame this on the actual people, who lose their job. I guess understanding the root of the problem will not be too hard to such a smart guy like yourself

    • @TesticuliDomini
      @TesticuliDomini 10 років тому +1

      He is making a very stupid point here, because it impossible for all people in the country to have a college degree or highly payable skills. So there are bound to be people, who will have to ear their living by hard labor. And these people are by far not the minority of the work force. However, when oligarchic capitalism starts widely using illegal immigrants as work force, people, who are this way losing their jobs are at least not to blame. The claim that only "uneducated" losers complain about immigrants is just as idiotic.
