What you're seeing Jamel is one of the greatest Rock Bands ever! Their debut album sold off he charts and is still one of the best selling albums of All-Time! This album and still stands the test of time. Do some research on founding member Tom Scholz. He wrote the first album while working as an Engineer with Kodak. He wrote it and recorded ALL PARTS in his home basement! The only instrument he did not play was the drums. He also did not sing lead. Tom is also known for inventing many amazing guitar related effects, most notably the Scholz "Rockman". SUCH an amazing album, and band. Bravo on your pick!

Yep. Possibly the most homemade multiplatinum album in history, certainly before this current home recording renaissance. The only musicians credited on the first album that actually play on the first album are Tom, Brad the singer, and Sib Hashian on drums. Tom Scholz played every instrument besides drums, and Brad Delp sang every vocal.

So the debut album you buy is not Tom and Brads original "basement" demo. Another fun fact(s); Tom has a Masters in Engineering from MIT. When they were recording the demo, he worked at Polaroid and is rumored to be one of the creative minds behind the one step Polaroid camera. He also took a break from music for over 6 years ( a court ordered stipulation of breaking his contract). During which time, he concentrated on his inventions, including, the now much sought after Sony Rockman Amp. After the 5 year ban on recording, the band reunited for Third Stage with the hit Amanda. Absolutely! Another great line is: "So many people have come and gone, their faces fade as the years go by. Yet I still recall as I wander on, as clear as the sun in the summer sky". I think of all the people I've met since 1976....some of them becoming best friends that I had amazing times with.......and then it faded away and I have no idea what those folks are doing these days, or if they're even still alive. But the memories are still legendary!

Yeah, I caught that as soon as I heard him sing "I see my Maryanne walking away". In the original chorus, he sustains the lower note rather than going up the way he does on the second chorus, featured on this version.

Boston stormed the airwaves so heavily with their 1st album. They almost couldn't get past the monstrous sensation it caused. Drop was a master of the loud voice that seemed to no end did you notice the album cover? For the longest time I thought it was a spaceship!!
FINALLY, More Than a Feeling!!!! TURN IT UP, UP, UP!!!!! I was just 11 when this came out. That was some primitive head banging there. Please check my comment to the Edmund Fitzgerald. Take it easy, brother. Donnie Iris, Ah Leah!!!!!!
Donnie Iris "Ah Leah" yes! I was on my daily 4 mile walk in the park on my phone with earphones on listening to random bands here on you tube a few days back. I was done listening to "Driver's Seat" By Sniff N The Tears (another great song BTW) scrolled down the page and Donnie Iris "Ah Leah" popped up. I hadn't heard that song in ages. Its one of the best songs that came out of the early New Wave movement! I highly recommend this song @Jamel_AKA_Jamal!
When you listen to this song you have to remember Tom Scholz recorded this in his basement. He played all the instruments but the drums and the only voice on the whole album is Brad Delp. What a genius Tom Scholz really is,AMAZING. Just so you know I am 54 and still have the hair 😎
Boston is my older brother's music. But he shared it and much else with me. And taught me how to fix 70's beater American cars. I took him to see Rush. He took me to see Van Halen. More Than A Feeling is a really special song.
That's hilarious - when he was describing that, I could literally see myself walking through Target with this quietly playing over the speaker and out of nowhere erupting in an off-pitch "close my EYES!" meanwhile my wife is humiliated and walks 20 feet in front of me for the rest of the trip :)
No one had heard guitar sound like this before "More Than A Feeling". From Wikipedia: "Scholz is an MIT-trained engineer who designed and built his own recording studio in an apartment basement in the early '70s. A rock fan throughout his teen years, Scholz began writing songs while earning his master's degree at MIT.[2] The first Boston album was mostly recorded in his basement studio, mostly using devices he designed and invented. After the success of Boston, he founded Scholz Research & Development, Inc. to develop and market his inventions, many under the Rockman brand. Scholz holds several patents[3] related to his work at SR&D over the years."

"So many people have come & gone.
Their faces fade as the years go by.
Yet I still recall as I wander on
as clear as the sun
in the summer sky."
I thought I was the only one. Yeah, not complete without the second verse before the instrumentals.
Didn’t even catch that. Best part of the song.
Yeah, I caught that as soon as I heard him sing "I see my Maryanne walking away". In the original chorus, he sustains the lower note rather than going up the way he does on the second chorus, featured on this version.
"This song makes you feel like you can sing" yep! "then your lady looks at you and says don't do that" also yes.
Thanks for that...I just lost my cousin up in Brooklyn...she was a nurse at a hospital up there....the Coronavirus took up....this song helped a lot. Thanks again.
Douglas Cuffee sorry for your loss.
So sorry to hear that. I don't know you but hope you and your family peace.
Be well Doug.
Thanks all.
Prayers up 🙏
Last song I got to listen to with my mother before she passed. Will always hold a place in my heart.
One song I'm pleased to sit on a couch and rock with ya brother. Oh man those days of old. Most Saturdays I play this to do my cleaning. it takes me away to yesterday!!!! love ya borther
Brad Delp was a unique talent and he died alone in pain he couldn't console...Shameful when the brightest stars fade away in dissolution of life itself.
As a band manager I can tell you from experience, this is the one requested song that all other bands fear...wait for it.
LoL! Omg you had me rollin' about that whole "this is one of those songs that make you think you can sing". I love your personality!
That's one of the best quotes ever in a reaction video!!!! SO true
Lol....love his this is why I wanted to see what these guys look like so I could get a better picture of what y’all look like!
I could have swore every person on earth is born with this song in their head
Boston stormed the airwaves so heavily with their 1st album. They almost couldn't get past the monstrous sensation it caused. Drop was a master of the loud voice that seemed to no end did you notice the album cover? For the longest time I thought it was a spaceship!!
FINALLY, More Than a Feeling!!!! TURN IT UP, UP, UP!!!!! I was just 11 when this came out. That was some primitive head banging there. Please check my comment to the Edmund Fitzgerald. Take it easy, brother. Donnie Iris, Ah Leah!!!!!!
Ah! Leah! YESSSSS!!
If Jamel hasn't listened to The Animals yet, I'll settle for him experiencing Donny Iris.
@@KK-ex5zu Love, Driver's Seat. Crank it up!!!
When you listen to this song you have to remember Tom Scholz recorded this in his basement. He played all the instruments but the drums and the only voice on the whole album is Brad Delp. What a genius Tom Scholz really is,AMAZING. Just so you know I am 54 and still have the hair 😎
And an MIT grad too.
@@palmsquad4 - All that and a VEGAN too!!!
The first Boston album I owned- yes, on vinyl!!!
Me too!!! First album I ever owned!
Still have 3 versions, vinyl, cassette, and CD...
Boston is my older brother's music. But he shared it and much else with me. And taught me how to fix 70's beater American cars. I took him to see Rush. He took me to see Van Halen. More Than A Feeling is a really special song.
I am hooked on your channel. Love Boston and your facial expressions ❤️
My favorite band of all time - my God the sound they had was unparalleled - you cannot listen to them and not be taken away!
When the 1st album came out, my first reaction was: "I never heard this quality sound" before.
I first heard this when it came out on 8-track in my brother's Mustang. RIP Sib and Brad. Boston will live forever.
"One of those songs that make you think you can sing" hahaha aint that the truth.
Stay safe, Stay healthy.
That's hilarious - when he was describing that, I could literally see myself walking through Target with this quietly playing over the speaker and out of nowhere erupting in an off-pitch "close my EYES!" meanwhile my wife is humiliated and walks 20 feet in front of me for the rest of the trip :)
70s teen, bell bottoms, white, tight jeans, truckin’ felt shoes. Know every word🎶💙🎶💙🎶💙
When a song can STILL give you goosebumps. The only thing this band did wrong was not getting the help the members desperately needed.
True fact: this band was so epic that they named a city after them.
yeah it's definitely the studio version showed with concert footage. one of the very best debut albums ever
Except this audio is a little warbly. Probably from a cassette tape. But still preferable to live audio from that time.
100% The studio version.
Boston's first album is a MUST HAVE for any lover of music. PERFECT is all that can be said for this album. From start to finish - amazing!
I look forward to your videos every day! You've got the best sense of humor and positive attitude. Thank you for giving us some happy in our day. 🙏
Hair down below my shoulders, wearing turquoise choker and sporting a cowboy hat about the time this song was out. Always jeans and tee shirts though. :-)
Cutoff Levi's and white tube socks up to my knees in the summertime! As Archie and Edith Bunker famously sang.....those were the days! BTW, off topic but Carroll O'Connor as Archie Bunker and Jean Stapleton as Edith Bunker are the greatest TV characters of all time! They were brilliant together.
John Sanders I had a pair of yellow, bright yellow bell bottom pants that had HUGE bells on the bottom of them!!! I was so ‘ far out’!!!lol
@@bostonwhofan How do you put your socks and shoes on? ua-cam.com/video/prRtcQz8Uqk/v-deo.html
Every song off Boston's first two records were played on the radio.
Dude, you are picking some bangers today.
I've posted some things he'd love on a few past posts. I hope to see them!!!
All WEEK!
The vocals never get old. Love this song Every.Time. !!!
Love you brother...you've got the music.in your heart and mind . I saw Boston with Journey together when they only had 3 albums between them....magic ! 😊
Brad Delp had the most amazing voice. There are some live clips on UA-cam too. 😊❤️🎤🎸
gives me chills, what a voice, music is fantastic, brings back memories for me😊
I have watched reaction vids before but yours is the best I have seen , seriously , I was pretty peeved off at what my government is doing and had a hard time to calm down till i started watching this and I cracked so hard . I'm feeling much better so thank you and stay well .
Puffy Jo Thanks 🙏🏾
@@jamelakajamal you just made my day tyvm
Right off Route 128 in Boston there's a sign on the stone cliff that says "RIP Brad Delp". I go by it sometimes.
One of the most underrated bands in history!!!! Great great great band!!!
Anytime I wanted to really test a pair of speakers in a store in the ‘80’s, this was the tune. such range, you could hear the weakness in any thing it was played through. Great song an love Boston all these years later.
I grow up to listen to the greatest bands of all time to many to name. Late 60's all the 70' and 80's.
More than feeling: " American anthem of the american society of the seventies"
The 70's man. That's when music was GREAT. Will never be like that again I'm afraid. Got to see Boston 3 times in the 70's .
I always told my Son, if I happen to fall into a coma, just play this song, I know I'd wake up, lol. Love their music.
Single greatest voice In rock & roll!.... RIP Brad Delp!
I believe that drummer is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s father in law
He is. Sib Hashian. He passed away on a rock & roll cruise ship that he was performing on a couple of years ago. Great drummer.
@@vegasbeersales yes indeed that was the one and only John
Drummer is dead but yes
Lol, i was watching a reccommended wwe video about the rock accepting john cenas tag team request, then after watching that, this was recommended, now i believe this comment is why.
The caveman on drums...!
This song always takes me back in time and never fails to boost my mood when I hear it. Growing up in the 70s was the best 🎶😊
IKR, RIP Brad Delp, and RIP to my friend John B.
Love your channel love your reactions. You should have press passes and travel the world reacting to live musicians. I have always loved Boston .
I am a very old hippie, fo' sho' . I am still a raging liberal who prays for peace every night. I am 74 and great music of all kinds makes me feel joy.
When this album was released I was sporting an Afro with metal pic in the back...lol
🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Can't have the fro without the pick!
I was only 6 years old, when this song came out. Great group and song.
See...I know that particularly in the past live stuff tended to be sonically inferior....but personally I would always rather watch a live show....And yes I had the long hair and "big bells"....Now I wear a baseball cap to cover the bald spot...But I still love to rock!!...Man those vocals are just amazing!!!...Pretty much the definition of Classic Rock right there!!...Jamal...you are like a gift from God right now!!! Thankyou so much for all you are doing!!!...
Brad Delp. One of the greatest vocalists in rock history. Pure power and control.
He has nice smooth vocals
The guitarist in the silver outfit is the genius behind the whole thing.
Rest in Peace Brad Delp! You will live in in our hearts forever. Thank you for your gift of beautiful songs. How can 17 people not like this?
"This is one of those songs that makes you think you can sing." Funnyman.
@Debbie Gum In the future you will take voice lessons.
I'm rockin the long wavy hair and with the stache and sideburns and I occasionally rock the colorful outfits and I'm only 20 years old
Tom Scholz actually gave my youngest son one of his picks at a show a few years ago..
Nice, I wonder If I'll ever catch a Boston concert
It's so awesome watching you experiencing the music I grew up on. I always enjoy seeing a new generation enjoying great tunes!
Boston is my definition of the quintessential 70's - 80's band. Pure musical genius!
