I remember when this song came out. It was all the rage. This was one of the first rock groups featuring girls, to kick it with the big boys, making a name in the rock world. Thank you for playing this. It's a timeless song, that still sounds great today. Ann, the lead singer, had that great rock/blues edge to her voice, while her sister, Nancy was more soft spoken. Yup, you got it right. One of the best female vocalists in rock - Ann, with the dark hair. One of the best female guitarists in rock - Nancy, the blonde. What a pair of musically talented sisters.
The first concert I ever went to was Heart in support of Dreamboat Annie opening for The Beach Boys (yes, really). Try to imagine the impact of the Wilson sisters on a 13-year old boy. Not just physically, but musically. Dreamboat Annie was the first album I ever bought, and I still have it to this day, some 44 years later. I’m pretty sure my preference for guitar-oriented progressive rock / metal is because of this.

One of the best female rock voices ever! Love me some Heart! She can still saaaang too!
It's a MOOG synthesizer to be specific that's giving the "futuristic" sounds that you found so thrilling.
Yes saw them and an outdoor concert back in the eighties and even though I passed out in the mud for Thoroughgood I woke up to Nancey playing above me on the stage Barracuda and she was kicking her leg at me while she was in between guitar riffs and pointing out beer tickets on the ground next to me....fell in love with her that day.
Me and my brother from another mother often watch you on the big screen and we really love some of your awesome shirts with those sayings. You always make us laugh and brighten our day. Good job and God bless. Wear more awesome shirts with cool sayings on them!!
I can't get enough of her voice. It is rock and roll. I can't think of anyone with a better voice for rock.
Yeah, Ann has, no doubt, one of THE BEST voices to ever exist.
It's gorgeous and, just, full of power! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💜💜
[Nancy's isn't bad, either, b.t.w.!!!! 🧡💜💜💜💜💜💜]
18 years old, male, and going to a Heart concert in the late 70's....yes, it was MAGIC!
I really think Jamal would get a kick out of the 80’s gloriousness of the ‘Alone’ video. It doesn’t hurt that the song is fantastic as well.
Their glam stage was right at about puberty for me, so I remember it well and fondly.
@@chrisd7047 I hear ya loud and clear my man. :)
"Them sisters was fine..."LOL! Tooo true. Check out the cover of their album Little Queen and it's no secret why they were in all the boys dreams. The beauty and the musical talent were a great package, and still is.
"Dog and Butterfly" is a beautiful acoustic tune from Heart!
That performance was ridiculously good. Timeless song. Beautiful, super talented ladies 😍
Authentic 70's wipes, you only see that in Star Wars movies nowadays
They are magical. I've loved them since I was 10 yrs old. ♥️
Three more songs you can't miss by Heart:
Straight On
These Dreams
Alone
I remember when this song came out. It was all the rage. This was one of the first rock groups featuring girls, to kick it with the big boys, making a name in the rock world. Thank you for playing this. It's a timeless song, that still sounds great today. Ann, the lead singer, had that great rock/blues edge to her voice, while her sister, Nancy was more soft spoken. Nancy preferred being a up vocalist. Her joy came from playing her guitar with the band. Nancy did an excellent guitar solo on one of your other video reactions, called "Crazy On You". A very talented sister team, They still sound great today.
Can't deny the smoothness of the track.
I got to play in a band with my son. Some of the best memories in my life and I've had an incredible life. Watching him shred on his guitar while on stage with him had me beaming with pride.
Imagine Ann and Nancy performing Stairway To Heaven live at the Kennedy Center in front of the remaining members of Led Zepplin, with a star-studded crowd. Also, John Bohnam, who's the original drummer to Zepplin, his son is playing the drums! NOT TO BE MISSED!! ua-cam.com/video/LFxOaDeJmXk/v-deo.html
When you see Paige react to the guitar playing, then the big choir reveal. AWESOME tribute!!!
So awesome!
That needs to be a tour. Led Zeppelin & Heart!
@@kindredjeff and Plant literally crying because after decades he finally was hearing the song covered properly.
Mistral Wind from the Dog and Butterfly album(1978) highly recommended by me. Builds from a gentle start to a tumultuous climax.
Would be interesting to see you react to another keyboard-heavy tune from the old school days of rock... “Styx - Mr. Roboto” 👍🏻
I'll add my voice to the other comments about their performance of Stairway to Heaven at the Kennedy Centers honors for Led Zeppelin. Fantastic!!!!
Hey J, check out Heart doing a real live version of another big hit - “These Dreams” - the live in Seattle version. It’s more recent AND you get see Nancy Wilson take lead vocals, and Ann sing backup.
Not only were these sisters fine, they sang stories many of us lived through. they perfectly described my 'Magic Man' from the late 70's. A great learning experience.
Try some Patti Smith and Because The Night. Also Her version of G LO R I A and Horses.
Nancy Wilson is the blonde and guitarist and back up vocals and Ann Wilson is the vocalist
Ann ran off to Vancouver B.C. with her boyfriend, thus prompting mom to say come home.
Ann and Nancy Wilson!
What a talented pair of sisters! Ann Wilson’s vocals are incredible! Nancy Wilson’s singing and playing is amazing too! And they both harmonize so well! That are legendary at this point.
👏🏻😎🎸
keep doin' what you doin' Jamal
This song has such a funky groove! The mix of that funk with the hard rock guitars and vocals is like the Stone Age predecessor of Rage Against the Machine. Heart kicks ass!
I 100% agree that "they was fine!" I was always partial to Nancy, but Ann was hot in those days too.
Yup, you got it right. One of the best female vocalists in rock - Ann, with the dark hair. One of the best female guitarists in rock - Nancy, the blonde. What a pair of musically talented sisters.
Ann and Nancy Wilson. You're rite Ann is the dark hair and Nancy is blond. 😍
Digging your reviews Jamel. Check out another old school group called Orleans performing Dance with Me (Living Legends) version
LMAO! You always make me laugh. I was 17 in 76 and they were my heroes.
It's a Mini-Moog [pronounced (well, I'm pretty sure you know how "mini" is pronounced 🙄😋
"moe-g" ...Just like the inventor's name.]. The first synthesizer ever produced.
The band:
Ann Wilson: Lead vocals, harmony vocals, hand percussion
Nancy Wilson: guitars {electric and acoustic, rhythm and some lead), backing vocals,
Michael DeRosier ['duh-rozhe-yer']: Drums and percussion [One of the ultimate bad-asses. - Truly! -He is an under-appreciated rock legend!]
Roger Fisher: Lead and rhythm guitars (electric)
Steve Fossen: Bass, backing vocals
Howard Leese: Keyboards, Guitars (electric and acoustic), Mandolin, etc., etc., etc.
[Leese was never, really, listed as a "full member" of the band (for whatever reason); he was, like, a "back-up"/additional player (until their '80s reboot, when he, basically, took Roger Fisher's place.), but he toured with Heart and played on every album, I think (up until the Passionworks album, maybe🤷♂️🤷♂️ - I forget what the line-up was, then. Sorry.)]
THAT is yo' BAND! ...And they are bad-asses!!!!!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘⚡🤘
-As you can see, here: Roger Fisher (the guy with the Les Paul) and Howard Leese (the guy with the modified Tele - who, also, plays the Moog part!) are the guitar players trading leads and harmonies on this. 👍
"The first synthesizer ever produced." I'm sorry, but that's not correct. It may be the first affordable synth produced on a commercial scale. www.vintagesynth.com/timeline
@@neptune9 We knew that.
@@neptune9 ...what would one do with an UNaffordable synth, of which only one was ever made??
...Not, really, useful for most musicians.
[And, NO: you CAN'T bring up "T.O.N.T.O." 🙄🙄 - It was built out of Moog parts, and others ...and was a, completely, unique development.]
(Funny: I nearly always get negatively criticsized for NOT "shorthanding"" things! 😂🤣🤦♂️🙄🤷♂️)
@@neptune9 ...Also, the term "produced," clearly suggests or implies: mass production.
...I'm "nit-pickier" with words than you seem to be, here; generally ...however
...That should have been an easily understandable, acceptable intent.
Been a tough day...and really needed Jamel to bring some light into my life. .....mission accomplished. Thanks Jamel!!!!
814 likes. Zero dislikes. Someone knows how to UA-cam.
This sister act was at the top of the Rock world in the mid to late 70s. They continued to tour and write excellent music into the 80s. Great Band to see live in concert. Anne and Nancy Wilson are very talented artists.
BTW "Soul Of The Sea" is a Masterpiece, Heart has many
Ann ,the Brunette is the Singing Wilson and Nancy the Strawberry Blonde, is the Guitar Strumming Wilson. been rocking to these sisters since I was 14 yrs old. that would be 1974. enjoyed every second.
