Yes she was our Floor Jansen back in the late 70's. I'm not sure now a days but up to 10 years ago she still had it. Just listen to her during the Led Zeppelin induction to the Kennedy Center Honors.
Ann Wilson (the brunette) was the singer. Nancy Wilson (the blonde) played guitar. But they had another guitarist Roger Fisher. Nancy played the phenomenal acoustic intro. I think Roger played more of the electric guitar parts.
My uncle who hardly ever listened to rock, thought every female rock musician that came on the radio was Heart. "Is that Heart?" I can still hear him say. (he passed away 5 years ago at age 80)
Jamel, seriously. Please check out the Kennedy Center Honors tribute to Zeppelin featuring Heart. You won’t be sorry. Obama & Michelle were there rocking out too. I saw Heart last year at The Hollywood Bowl and sound the same 40 years later. Beautiful and ridiculously talented women.
If you've never seen it, watch them do Mona Lisa's and Mad Hatter's live in Seattle in 2000. Nancy puts on a stellar performance that makes Elton proud.
They performed "Stairway to Heaven" in front of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones at the Kennedy Center Honoring Led Zeppelin. You need to check that out. Robert Plant sheds a tear.
Tahoe Mike YESSS! Seeing someone experience a song that feels like a close friend to you is what makes music such a gift. It also helps that Jamel knows how to feel the music!
Heart was told women cannot headline auditoriums. So they said screw you, literally invested every penny they had and financed their own tour. If it failed they would have walked away. They basically paved the way for women to be equal to men in the 70s. And yes, they were so damn beautiful. And proved that they can hang and even out do many acts. In fact, many male bands refused to be on the bill because they were not the headliners and they could blow most bands off the stage. Almost every woman after them said Heart was there major influence.
Actually there was a tribute to Led Zepplin in Washington and Heart/Anna performed Stairway to heaven for Robert Plant and the attending members of the band it was pretty awesome its on youtube.
Heart were one of the post- Zeppelin incarnations that permeated the mid-seventies, but DAMN!! they really stood above the rest along with Rush. So...those vocals make sense in context. This was their debut album ' Dreamboat Annie '1976
What I like about you is that you make a distinction between just letting music be a pleasant background (hearing it) and trying to dive into it, absorbing the sound and attending to the meaning of the lyrics (appreciating it). I think too few people now give music the respect it deserves, opening themselves to it and trying to receive everything it has to offer. Huge respect to you for that.
that song hits me hard, my mother died in 2003 and Heart was one of her favorite bands, I can still see myself riding in the passenger seat of her truck and her singing along even now. Damn onion ninjas

You gotta watch the live version to truly appreciate Nancy's guitar playing in the beginning. She said she's never played it the same way twice. One of the all time best woman guitarists!
Ann Wilson has so much power in her voice! There is a live version of this, not the midnight special version either. It was 1977. The beginning guitar is Nancy playing.
Saw Ann doing a live concert tv show in 1978. I was 15 and fell in love. My wife, of almost 36 years now, and I saw them about 4-5 years ago.....fell in love again. Seeing them live for the first time with my wife was such a treat. Ann's voice is still BIG!! It fills up a room! Wow!
I'm so enjoying your reactions. I'm kind of on a Jamel binge. I haven't listened to some of these songs for so long but it's like meeting up with an old friend. The amazing thing about Heart is how they can be so hard and so melodic at the same time. Not an easy task.
Yes, that is Ann and Nancy playing guitars! This was 1976. Yes, they were sisters! And they are both fantastic singers. I'm sure the men were intimidated by Heart's talent, but it wasn't an easy road for these girls to break out during that time. It's too bad you couldn't have gotten a video of them performing this. My generation is so blessed to have grown up in the 1970-80's listening to amazing artist like these. No computers, no sampling, just hard rocking jamming music. Ann and Nancy Wilson, fantastic vocals, and Nancy, one of the best guitarist to have performed, and also a great singer. Check out "These Dreams", Nancy does the vocals.

This is their debut album released in 1975/1976 (US). I absolutely loved and still love it. Meant a lot to us young high school girls to have the Wilson sisters to look up to. They are Goddesses. Beautiful inside and out and so talented. From their 2nd studio album, ‘Little Queen’ comes my 3 favorite songs from Heart and probably all 3 on my top 10 list of my favorite songs period. ‘Love Alive’ and my favorite 2 which MUST be played together are ‘Sylvan Song’ and ‘Dream of the Archer’. The first of the 2 is an instrumental leading into the 2nd song (Dream....). Lyrics a must. ☮️💟 Nancy plays electric, acoustic and also plays the mandolin. Ann plays some guitar and the flute.

"And lookin' at this album cover here, they was fine, too." And you are so right, Jamal. Fine foxes, indeed. And Heart burst onto the scene in the Seventies when every band or singer held their own with their own sound--and those sounds were wonderfully diverse and creative. Turn on the radio and hear Heart. And then the Ohio Players. It was great.
Okay you def need to see a recent live performance of this Song. CUZ they Still Kickin It! And, seeing it is Better than just hearing this band, for Sure!
Crazy On You was on their debut album, Dreamboat Annie (Canada 1975, US 1976). Nancy played the acoustic guitar on this track and Roger Fisher was the heavy lead guitar, with Howard Leese on rhythm. Ann was the lead vocalist.
I saw Heart in concert in 1975 as they were they were the opening band for April Wine’s Stand Back tour. It was a real treat and I was hooked from day one. April Wine was amazing as well.
Thanks soooo much for checking out this Heart song! My favorite of all time. Still get goose bumps when I hear it. I even remember where I was singing it back in the 70's 😎. The Wilson sisters are a treasure to me for sure. BTW have you ever listened to Adam Lambert sing the Queen song 'We Are The Champions?" He's got a lot in common with Anne Wilson"s vocal range. TY again Jamal. Love your channel & your honest reviews. "Keep 'It Coming Love" - KC & The Sunshine Band ♥️
Ann Wilson is my favorite rock voice ever including the men. Nancy is very talented as well. Love Heart!!! This song is a classic. React to "Even it up" good up tempo rockin tune by Heart.
They were really mad about the Dreamboat Annie cover-- said they wanted to be heard and appreciated for their music, not their looks. You KNOW they had a fight on their hands! Really grateful to have finally been able to see them last year with Joan Jett (their predecessor) and Elle King (their descendant) -- the women of rock
Great choice, you should watch this live version, phenomenal performance. When Heart hit the airwaves back in the 70's, they were huge. Ann and Nancy Wilson are epic.
In the 1970’s you bought a record with no idea how good the entire album was except for the single releases. With Heart there was no guessing. Their album Little Queen had a song “Say Hello” the Song would have been a hit for anyone else but for Ann and Nancy Just another day at the office amazing talent.
My brother was in love with both of them. Yes. They were all over the radio in the 70s and had new material on into the 90s. Very talented and beautiful sisters.
I saw Heart in concert for the first time when I was 19. Watching Nancy Wilson step to the edge of the stage and play that acoustic intro made me pick up a guitar and learn to play.
OMG yes. That song instantly converted me to an Ann Wilson worshipper. Dream of the Archer and Mistral Wind have to be her most outstanding vocals. She's a GODDESS
Hey Jamel another one you should do is These Dreams .. the blonde sister Nancy who is also plays guitar she sings it and it one of their best song .. also there is live versions of this song Nancy does the guitar work on the intro on this song .. yeah to speak to what your wondering they were the first female rock group to be huge .. from Seattle Wash .. yeah they are incredible ladies
Saw them first time about1978-79. Incredible performance of course. What made it extra special was that, so many concerts with guy bands would be great listening for other guys while the girls would crowd down at the stage, was just the opposite at a Heart concert, where all us young guys would crowd down at the stage lol. I was 14 that first time, then saw them again about '81-'82. Great memories and they are always a great favorite.
Heart had it all. Powerful, beautiful vocals, enough guitar mastery for 3 bands. Great songs. They could rock out as good as any band out there but could also slow it down and deliver the most beautiful ballad. Plus, yes, they were nice to look at. Beauty and power!
Yay! Two Canadians in a row! Heart and Gordon Lightfoot! Love these ladies. I use to party hard to their music!! LOL This music was the late 70'sAnne, the lead vocalist performed at the Kennedy Centre singing Stairway to Heaven in the tribute to Led Zepplin
Heart are actually out of Seattle. For some _weird_ reason they never got as many cross-America tour dates as they did up here, so we just adopted 'em. ;^)
Jamal, just came across you today... I really like your take and reactions to all of these songs that people want you to check out and listen to. You have a very likeable, friendly and cool demeanor and personality... Always liked Heart, and Ann Wilsons singing/vocals from way back in the mid 70's... I would rate her in the top 5 all time best female rock vocalists... the band was very good as far as the music and instrumentals to back up her powerful voice... of course it didn't hurt that her and Nancy were both very attractive and easy on the eyes! Music is and should be multi cultural... does not matter what your ethnicity or background is to appreciate and love great songs, music and band... although most of the songs you get requests for seem to be of the "rock" genre... (which includes classic rock, softer/ballads, and even a little "metal" and "head" music/songs)… I think it is great thing to include all this variety... well done my new found You Tube friend! Health, Joy, Peace and Blessings.
Their Dad was a Marine, and while he wanted a classical music path for his girls, he supported them in what they wanted. Their Mom was a pianist; I think it shows in their arrangements!
These lady's have enormous talent! Great reaction. Try a reaction to Lita Ford or The Runaways/ Joan Jett, she was in the Runaways and went solo. You won't be disappointed 😉
The is one of my All Time Favorite Bands! This song is from the Dreamboat Annie album released in 1976 when I was 15 years old. Wow! I am almost starting to feel old but, not yet! These woman were possibly the first females to front a band like this. Rocking, music! Thanks again, Jamal!
If you enjoyed Heart, maybe you should try a bit of Fleetwood Mac - The Chain or any of their songs. Stevie Nicks from this band is also another fantastic female artist.
Not only do they make excellent music, are badasses, they do the best Led Zeppelin covers of all time. I saw them in concert 10 years ago and they KILLED IT.
Jamal: "sounds a little country"
Nancy Wilson: "hold my beer"
😆♥️
My thoughts exactly! I was just sitting here like "wait for it!"

Ann Wilson - One of the most powerful voices in rock - male or female.

and the only one that can keep up with Ann vocally, is Nancy..
I agree totally legendary band and artists !!!
Ann supposedly had classical training: opera... thus the great vocal range.

This song came from the album Dreamboat Annie which came out in 1975. I saw them in concert in the 70's. Nancy Wilson is an amazing guitarist.
Dreamboat Annie was Heart's debut studio album, released in the US (orig Canada) on Valentine's Day 1976.
You should do a live version. Nancy kills the intro with acoustic guitar. She’s amazing
Okay you def need to see a recent live performance of this Song. CUZ they Still Kickin It! And, seeing it is Better than just hearing this band, for Sure!
The Wilson sisters are a force to be reckoned with. Nancy kills it on guitar, and Ann’s vocals are phenomenal.
Crazy On You was on their debut album, Dreamboat Annie (Canada 1975, US 1976). Nancy played the acoustic guitar on this track and Roger Fisher was the heavy lead guitar, with Howard Leese on rhythm. Ann was the lead vocalist.
Seattle has put out so many talented musicians.
I saw Heart in concert in 1975 as they were they were the opening band for April Wine’s Stand Back tour. It was a real treat and I was hooked from day one. April Wine was amazing as well.
Jamal: "sounds a little country"
Nancy....Not in this lifetime :)
Loved that reply about Ann Wilson.
Have to watch a recording of this performed live, Nancy shreds the intro guitar solo on her acoustic!
Their album Little Queen had a song
“Say Hello” the Song would have been a hit for anyone else but for Ann and Nancy Just another day at the office amazing talent.
My brother was in love with both of them. Yes. They were all over the radio in the 70s and had new material on into the 90s. Very talented and beautiful sisters.
Yes, the song you were singing at the end is "Barracuda." :)
I saw Heart in concert for the first time when I was 19. Watching Nancy Wilson step to the edge of the stage and play that acoustic intro made me pick up a guitar and learn to play.
Ok Jamel. You wanna here Ann's "range"?? Sylvan Song/Dream of the Archer is a must.
Amen Brian....was just about to suggest that wonderful song....probably my all time favorite from them.
That transition from acoustic to electric still gets me after all these years.
Legendary ladies of rock n roll! LOVE!
Lots Ford "kiss me deadly" the Runaways "Cherry bomb" and Joan Jett " I love rock n roll"
Lita Ford I ment
Was just thinking about Kiss Me Deadly the other day.👍
tammy barlow Lita Ford “Gotta Let Go” is also a good one.
If I Close My Eyes Forever
That was the 70's. Saw them in concert multiple times. Talented ladies.
Best female vocalist of all time no doubt about it. And they were from the 70's
Agreed. There has never been a more amazing female voice to hit the airwaves.
Heart's first #1 song... These Dreams... was sung by Nancy !
"There's nothing left to do at night, but go crazy on you..." Words that sound like they were written for a lockdown.
Sharing 😂
Lol truth!
For some _weird_ reason they never got as many cross-America tour dates as they did up here, so we just adopted 'em. ;^)
@@BoojumFed Really. I met them in Vancouver in 1977. That's where they were living.
@@myowndrum286 yeah, they were from Seattle. We Canuckistanis recognized their talent and adopted them, like BoojumFed said! :P
@@myowndrum286 Nancy said in an interview that her "Magic Man" was a draft dodger so she went to Canada with him for a while
Jamal, just came across you today...
(which includes classic rock, softer/ballads, and even a little "metal" and "head" music/songs)…
I think it is great thing to include all this variety... well done my new found You Tube friend!
Health, Joy, Peace and Blessings.
It definitely has a partially Spanish guitar and blues style intro. I love it.
Patty Smyth & Scandal. The Warrior and Goodbye To You.
The first time I saw them was on MTV. The video was These Dreams. They will forever be the greatest female group.
When you hear music that good, it's a safe guess to think it's from the 70's or 80"s.
This was the 70s Though When Heart ROOOOOCKED Enough said
Leaves you speechless - such an amazing song
This song is from 1976 or 1977, I believe. I think you should respond to "Alone" next. It's probably one of their best-known songs.
Not only do they make excellent music, are badasses, they do the best Led Zeppelin covers of all time. I saw them in concert 10 years ago and they KILLED IT.
You really need to check out their performance of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven from The Kennedy Center Honors. Amazing.
I second and third that ;)
One of the best performances of "Stairway to heaven" i've ever seen or heard.
so much talent in this band , and she has such an amazing voice!!
You’ve got to watch Heart - Tribute to Led Zeppelin- Stairway to Heaven.
Nancy is a guitar beast! Always watch them live!
