There is not too much to add to the conversation around the Glock 17 Gen 3. It has been one of the most proven and tested handguns of our time. It's not the flashiest gun, it doesn't have best trigger, and it's not the most ergonomic handgun out there. But, it just runs and refuses to stop running which is why it is elevated above the competition in my opinion and the opinion of countless professionals.

Inherited my dad’s Gen 3 G17.. a great gun. He was a 30yr retired MGYSGT (USMC) and that was the gun he kept in his nightstand until he passed at the good age of 87. Boy, do I miss him. The G17, eats anything, and points like a good bird dog. I’ve done a few minor mods: lighter trigger spring, smooth slide release, and Trijicon sights. It now is in my nightstand and will be there until one of my 3 sons gets it.
Awesome to hear it!
Thank you for your dad's service my friend. Mom passed this year (2022) in January from covid 19, my Gen 3 17 was on her nightstand too at one point. I miss her dearly, but I know she's with The Lord now because she was and is a soldier in His army. Amen
Shout out to your dad...now hold it down with g17 its my favorite glock
rahhhhhhhhhhhhh
When will you decide which son gets the *THE Glock* ?
17 doesn't refer to the capacity. It was Glock's 17th patent.
I knew it was something weird.
@@FocusTripp It's cool. They had the 33rd sticks available for LE when the 17 hit the mkt.
good to know
Just bought a g3 today as my first ever gun. I’m stoked about it.
Me to 😎
Welcome to the club!!!!
im in the 10 day waiting period, glock 17 gen 3 is my first handgun as well. And cant wait.
@@scottishvikingmafiosog17 is definitely best size handgun for man
@@scottishvikingmafiosohope you like yours I just got mine 2 weeks ago
I’ve had my g17 gen3 for 6 years now and it’s my home defense pistol and I’m so glad I got it when I did and then I heard it was the ak47 of pistols which made me feel even more confident that I purchased it
It's a great way to go.
Absolutely a super video. My gun is set up pretty much the same way. I did notice your lens on your light looks a bit smudged. I always tape mine off before practice. I've found the lens will get slightly pitted if you shoot enough. Keep the Glock videos coming.
I have the same one. I love it. All I did was swap out the trigger spring with a new Glock 34 trigger spring. Slightly better pull. Next is the green guide rod laser. I like keeping it stick looking because to me, they look awesome as is. Very industrial. It's the AK of handguns, so reliable
I picked up the Glock 17 Gen 3 yesterday. Took it to the Gun Range this morning. Great pistol . I was a little worried about it at first. I have small hands . I read about the 17 Gen 3 grips The groves in the grip people don't like.. I think it fits very well in my hands, no problems at all. They were very comfortable . Only shot 100 rounds . It's so hard to find ammo these days. I haven't shot my .357 .38 revolver in about a year now. Because of the ammo problems.
But the Glock is Great.
Robert A> Johnson
I got small hands too and I actually carried the 17 for a couple years. I have no problem conceal carrying it just bulges more than my g26
Try find some ammo online I never have an issue and it's a lot cheaper than going to a store or a pawn shop
@@micahmarrietta2059 same for me, just bought my first glock yesterday was really stuck between the g17 and g19, I don’t got the biggest hands but the 17 just shoots so nice and still feels perfect while holding
@Da Coldstone I'd honestly go with the 19. I carry that more than my 17 now. I'm able to shoot well with both. But something is better than nothing
@@micahmarrietta2059 I ended up getting the 17 haha, it was the one I wanted the most anyway and I like how it shoots. But now I’m stuck between a g19 and a g45
another great video. well done
I just bought a Gen 5, Glock 17 a few weeks ago. I love all of the improvements that Gen 5 has brought to the table, but even I admit that it has a LONG way to go to catch up to Gen 3’s legendary track record and for taking the US gun market by storm.
Love my gen 5 17 .
I thought my “Goldilocks “ glock was a 19, but I’m enjoying the 17 much more
Me too.
I have 2 glock 19 gen 3 and a glock 17 gen 3 I love 19 more
That was some good shooting there.. and great reloads
Great video, thank you for sharing. I completely agree with your assessment of the G17 Gen 3. I have all Gens except 4 and I find them all to be reliable and pretty much the same . I do also shoot and sometimes carry the 19 Gen 5 but most often it is a 17 in appendix carry.
Great video. I have this pistol. My first hand gun.
absolutely amazing video !
THANK YOU SO MUCH !
this video truly made my day ! ❤
Exactly,I MC and Firearms SWAT instructor and use my Glock Model 22 all time is my concealed, With a Tagua Holsters, very professional your video , Continue Son !
My Glock Gen 4 has it's factory trigger and without added parts the trigger pull is now 4 pounds thank to my gunsmith. I also replaced the factory sights with TruGlo TFO, which I recommend.
Hey man you should do a video of all your intros edited back to back. Just you shooting hard and fast every gun you ever featured. That would be awesome❤
I bought my first glock its a 17 gen 3 after years of being a s&w collector and a week later picked up a g26 I carry both
Great video … I love my Glock 34 Glock 26 and Glock 21 all GEN 3’s because I live in California but the only upgrade I do is talon grips because they are just too damn slippery without some sort of grip texture
at least you have em!
Very true
GØØN tape actually works well too and you can always wrap more or less to give the cushion or palm swell you desire🤷🏽♂️
Outstanding review.
Love the Gen 3 G17. I plan to upgrade to match trigger and match barrel.
good idea.
Bought mine used year and a half ago, I paid 250€ for it and it has been worth every cent. I have done some few minor modifications on (triggersprings etc mag release and slide release) but it's mainly still stock
Very nice Video. I concur sir. Thanks
I have the Glock 17 RTF2. I love it. I have taken it to the gun range in Marietta, Ga. I also did a review of the gun on my youtube channel. I was able to go to the Glock Corporate Office and that was VERY Interesting. All repairs are covered by glock in there free inspection.
That's sick man!
thanks for you video next week will buy my first Glock but I don't know which model Glock 17 gen 3 or gen 5 ( semi ) or not. which is your recommendation?
I love the gen 3 G17 aswell.
First new pistol I'd bought myself, been carrying it for years, a bit uncomfortable but no other pistol I carry daily.
I was a beretta 92 boi for a long time but I got this clapped stock 17 gen 3, put some ameriglows and new springs in it and hands down best shooting most reliable pistol I have ever owned even in its stock configuration minus the sights. Always by my side.
Glad it's working for you.
Hardly any muzzle flip...damn good shooting dude. I need to get some practice in after watching your barrel lay flat!
It's 9 mm.
take a drink every time he racks the slide.
Well took yer advice and needless to say, am just returning from the hospital.
I have a gen 3 17c. Love the pistol
Just bought my first pistol today. I chose the Glock 17.
Springs don't wear out with compression alone. They wear out with use.
Thank you for the review, it was excellent
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@gundeals I have never owned a gun before, but you have convinced me that this is the one I am going to get (when I buy one in the future).
Is someone doing the Lucas Botkin special, super speedy edits or can you really shoot that fast ? : ) And you are looking very thin and handsome in this video btw.
Got my first Gen 3- 17 as a police trade in a couple months ago. It’s now my favorite pistol and my primary carry. I can’t believe I’ve never owned one..
That's an Awesome Brass trigger shoe that you have on your G17
Yeah it is!
I just ordered an OD Green Gen 3 Glock 17
I’m about to buy this on Tuesday at a gun store in my town. Hope it goes well
Update I got it. I shot it the other week I love it!!! 🙏🏻
I've had my Gen3 19 for 8 years now, honestly only ~1400 rounds through it. Plenty of failure to feeds, one stovepipe, never any out of battery or failure to fire malfunctions. Runs steel case 115gr generally fine. Sometimes it fails to chamber dropping the slide on a single round in a magazine. I don't think of it as unequivocally reliable, and I've seen plenty of videos of cops having minor malfunctions as well, but it's definitely as reliable as I need it. When I read Beretta/P01/Mk23 military test results I have serious doubts my specific glock 19 could pull off a
sorry to hear that man!
Glock 17 gen 4 made in 2019 for me. I know the earlier gen 4s had problems but never had a problem with mine. Gen 3s are nice too, probably the peak of the utilitarian Glock before they started going more the proprietary road with gen 4s and gen 5s imo
10:25 If it has a modified short reset trigger, of course is going to be faster in follow-up shots
So far the g17 gen 3 is the only polymer handgun that comfortably fits my bigger hands its comfortable smooth shooting and very accurate from my experience
Why does it look like your front sight fell off during the intro😂
(Edit) glad you hit on the fact that the fight broke during the intro shoot😂😂
yep haha
I noticed that also
My first and only gun is my gen 3 G17. I’ve had it for a year and I don’t even want another one.
Samee except i do want a g40 10mm
@@itdontmatter4419 same or a g20
Great video. I have a gen 3 26 and 17 and gen 4 19. Between these 3, they are about the only guns I have carried over the last 17 years.
Nice, Glocks are still about the only guns I carry.
Keeping a magazine loaded doesn't wear down or weaken a magazine spring. The loading and unloading or compressing and relaxing of the spring is what weakens springs over time.
Truth.
Could please share trigger information, Where can I purchase one brass model
I just picked up my second Glock. Went with a G17 Gen 3 a few days ago from an estate sale auction for $350 NIB.
Great price!
Considering I payed 550 for mine
I have a gen 3 glock 22. I converted it to 9mm, which makes it essentially a glock 17. When I first saw it, I was like "Meh", but after I shot it and then field stripped it for cleaning I was like "Now I get it". Simple, reliable, and a great shooter.
Hey, look at that, it’s one of my favorite spots in Lewis County!
That's the one.
Awesome vid FT.
Saw the 30 round magazine and knew he understood
You dash well.
GLOCK 17 GEN 3 ALL DAY!
Would you recommend gen 3 over the other four gens?
@@djudson367 i like the gen 3 best just personal preference!
THAT TRIGGER THOUGH! 🔥
;)
Trigger smooth as butter once broken in.
I’ve got a Keltec Sub2000 Gen 2 that takes Glock 17 mags. I bought some 33 round Glock mags for it. Will the 33 round mags fit in a Gen 3 Glock 17 ?
Yes they will just bought a g 3 17 because i have a sub 2000 gen 1. 17s just wont fit a glock 19. But the 33 round happy sticks will fit glock 17s and 19s.
Best 2 handguns are the Glock 17 gen 3 and HK USP .45acp.
No berreta 92fs?
Hell yes.
I feel the same way, have you replaced any parts/springs? Besides mags
I am using newer OEM recoil springs and sear springs.
I love the 19-X and G45.
Did you lose your front sight ?
Got mine today 😎
Nice video
Thanks!
Got a stock flat-face trigger job and a 5.2 inch threaded barrel alpha wolf and I can touch a pizza box at 100yrds but I'm no sniper
Love my gen3 22.
In 7-10000 rounds, could you break down parts replacement, specifically which parts, slide lock spring, trigger spring, etc that you have replaced in that time, thanks.
I replaced the trigger and sear springs.
@@gundealsYes trigger spring is a common part to replace on gen 1-3 glocks and the rsa at those round counts, thanks for the reply.
Great Video 🔥💪👌
Am I able to buy from your site and have it shipped to CA? I will go for the CA compliant of course, but I want to verify that it is legal for me to do so
They sell that gun in Cali just buy it at your local gun store
I agree, and in my opinion if some say they can't shoot a GLOCK with stock sights and stock trigger, believe me they probably can't shoot.
Exactly
Indeed.
I just inherited this one last year, but haven't taken it out to shoot a second time to form an opinion on whether I wanna keep it or not.
I just had a cheeseburger for lunch which is the closest thing to Glocks I own so haven't formed an opinion on it either.
If I could only change one thing it would be the vickers carry trigger on the oem trigger bar. Oh wait i have that already 😂 and its incredible I love the glock trigger. The vickers upgrade is astonishing. If i had the money id just buy the vickers glock 17.
My Gen 3 17 has never had FTF 2,000 rounds plus. Always runs.
Wearing down on the spring?
I'm a Glock fanboy and proud of it!!❤
I agree awesome video.. Go Glock 17!!!💪🏾
Toss up between my Glock 22 and my Beretta 92FS
Love my gen3 g17 and g21sf
I own 2 glock 19 gen 3 models and a glock 17 gen 3 all black i love them its my concealed carry guns and home defense. I use speergolddot 124+p- same ammo as N.Y.P D and Georgia state troopers use among thousands others law enforcement and security professionals. What ammo brand and grain you use?
@@ALSuspiria-sh1ss 147 gtain hp
185 grn hp for the g21
Perfect combo..excellent weapons
I prefer the Gen 2 mainly for the lack of finger grooves but I would agree that Glock 17 gen 2-3 is the best pistol ever made. I edc my Gen 2 g17 that is a Washington DC metro police department trade in. Bought a new oem slide for it since the old one was quite worn and it runs like a top. It’s a boring blocky thing but it’s what works for me🤷♂️
Picked this over a AK for my first firearm think that was a great idea imo
It is easier to stick in your waistband than an AK.
Love this Video! Glock 17 gen. 3 is my duty gun and its the perfect gun for me!
@D on duty no, off duty yes.
Is speergolddot 124+p good duty ammo?
@@ALSuspiria-sh1ss nypd uses it I don't see why not
@D I run the TLR-1 on my 17g3 with 148gr+p hst
@AL Suspiria 2018 Yes. I however run the 148+P hst
I literally don’t understand why ppl sh*t on the g17 over the g19 I mean their literally twins just one has finger groves and the other doesn’t either more control or less on my eyes 😭😭😭 best most reliable 9mm variation ever in my OP !!
What trigger?
Filling my jelly jar with money to buy one of these bad Larry’s
I actually prefer the gen 2 but yea it’s pretty friggin great. Not a big fan of the grip angle tho. Imo best handgun ever made is the m&p 2.0 compact.
Love the MP2.0
What kinda holster is that? I need one that’ll fit laser flashlight combo
Nevermind lol
I see more and more police officers carrying the Glock 17 Gen 3 the Gen 5 that came out really doesn't make a big difference it's just more money that they put us stainless steel spring in there and a larger mag release and that's about it plus the front has serration sign it so you could slide it back you really don't need them in the front only the back it's just the gimmick it's one of the best guns out there Glocks been around for more than 20 years now you can go wrong with it I wouldn't waste money on anything else and you could get parts anywhere 💯👍
Flared magwell aswell on the 5
Gen 5 has a better trigger
@@micahmarrietta2059 That is subjective. I prefer the rolling break of the gen 3.
Agree with Gen 3 models is better and cheaper for LE, Glock generations model 🔫 are same just with a except with upgrades components only. Gen 3 is better for price and more components.
Ya Im not a fan of the front serrations on the gen 5 models that had them, nor do i like the cuts on front of slide rounding it....I sorta like the blocky front of slide...the nostalgic glock look ;) , I went on a glock spree for a bit so I got a handful of em, probably like the 10mm the best .
What kind of Glock 26 is that? I've never seen one like that with a light rail.
it's a P80.
Yes
Anything
Shooting dynamics do not change between 17 and 19 for me at all and barely slightly for the 26
I like the finger groves. Gives u a better GRIPP
if they fit your hands, great.
Talon Grips make any poly gun a better gun.
My edc was my first gun and I love it
Opinions great and plentiful. Take Beretta 92 ,VP9 ,M&P over any Glock made. My duty gun is Glock 45 shoots really well but my still not my personal choice.
What ammo brand and grain do you use on duty
I have 3 glocks, g22 gen 4, g45 gen 5 and a G19 gen 3, that last one is my choice to go in my off duty days... the size and shape of finger grooves are perfect to my hands, additionaly the size of the slide and barrel do not disconfort me, picking in my balls when I carry at appendix...
I do like my G45 as well because the slide size, and the trigger, who is in the gen 5 improved a lot, making the gun more accurate and soft to shoot... G17 and G22 are good for LEO service or military personal, is too big im my opinion for IWB carry in summer times, its printing a lot in a T-shirt..
What holster setup do you have ?
I have several. Safariland ALS and Blackhawk L2D
HEY! Who in the hell gave you permission to become a pistol badass? 🤣😂🤣🤣
Good shootin Tex. Keep up the good work.
Ha, thanks!
I have the 19 gen 3 and love it but want the 17 gen 3
Big fan of both.
I have both and I absolutely love my G17, just feels more right in my hands. I like the longer barrel and the balance of the G17 is just perfect
I can’t wait for him to discover the Glock 21.
Same height and length, just a bit wider.
i agree gen 3 is the sweet spot. the gen 4 is nothing special and the early model jamming issues were enough to dissuade me, and the gen 5 is too "tacticool" with its front serrations and beveled slide. as a man with very large hands (6'5'' 280lbs) the finger grooves are a big plus for me.
Agreed. Gen 1, 2, and 3 is where it's at.
You don't get slide bite?
Literally anything
