There’s some odd sounding things in this review. He says they have malfunctions about every 200 rounds? That’s… quite a lot. I find that hard to believe. Second he says that the gun doesn’t lock back because there’s not as much backpressure. What? The physics of that doesn’t track to me. The direction of the gas exiting the muzzle is diverted. But the back pressure should be higher, if anything. Then he says the slide cycles faster, which tracks, but not if there’s less back pressure. It sounds more like the slide is hypercycling and not locking back because the follower is not pushing up the slide stop quickly enough. Sorry to say, but I doubt this guy knows what he’s talking about.
I got this for my G19.3 when I lived in California. I agree completely with everything he said. Negligible reliability issues. Looks really good. Not worth $400. Just hold the gun better more better and save $400. But if you can afford it then its pretty neat, fun to have, and will be an interesting piece of firearms history in 20 years.
Got one on my G45. Shooting next to my 17, I can definitely tell the difference. My dot stays in the glass. I don't notice any more concussion; maybe because I'm shooting outdoors. Shot it next to my PDP Pro full size and can really tell a difference.
Nice video thanks ! One thing bugged me : Brandon says that trex's glocks have a failure every ~400 rounds. Is it supposed to be a "normal" failure rate ? I have two gen5 9mm, 5k rounds through them and litteraly zero failure. Maybe are you issues ammo related instead of guns related ?
Im dont own any glocks but wanted to hear about the product. Im more of a Canik fan then glock. That being said Blast 45 makes a comp for $210 for Caniks specifically and i believe it will out perform any comp on any glock. Basically turns a tp9 into a TTI
For future testing, it may be worth it to you guys to measure the length of the spring before during and after testing. Especially once it begins malfunctioning. AR15 carbine action springs have a TDP spec length of no less than 10-1/8". When new they should be closer to 11-1/4", thats what my colt ones are. The most recent PSA one I got was about an inch shorter at 10-5/8", so not yet out of spec, but it won't be long before it is. That spec is for round wire only, tubbs flatwire are longer so the spec isn't linear. I say this because I imagine that the "compressor" spring lost some decompressed length during those cycles which makes it weaker. While Radian does say that the compressor is using a flatwire spring, it does not specify the material. They could probably improve the design by upgrading to chrome silicon like sprinco or a different form of stainless like tubbs.
@@ReCyclops1232 this video is about the radian ramjet compensator for a glock my friend. I was talking about buffer springs as an example of spring decompression as cycle count increases. This happens to all springs, some worse than others depending on construction. Some of the malfunctions they were encountering at higher round counts could be due to the spring weakening.
I think the performance was excellent when I had mine. However, there is far too much impact shift between different ammo types. With most oem barrels my carry ammo and range ammo are within 1-2” at 25 yards. With the ramjet it was 5-6” off. Huge pain for training.
@@BananarchOfTedKacistan I’m not the best shooter, but I regularly score mid 90s with my g45 on a b8 at 25 yards. The ramjet was throwing other rounds even of the same grain weight 3-6 inches off depending on the load. A shooter more experienced than myself that regularly scores in the high 90’s with his G45 also had the exact same issue.
@4:42 It's not just NODs that create an issue with comped pistols. Don't assume that, in a real fight, you'll be able to get your high-speed, low-drag tactical range firing stance (First Rule: Look Cool) on before you have to shoot. If you have to shoot from a retention position, you very well may "notice the flash, or care about the flash" when hot gas blows into your own face.
Besides competition & fun at the range. Wouldn't a comp on a pistol be pretty blinding in a low light to night situation. Which is where you most likely would need it in a self or home defense situation? I'm curious to see what the pistols look like shooting at night with & without the comps? Maybe I'm wrong & it's gonna be a big flash anyways? I would think the comp would make it worse pushing all gasses upwards
I like my 60 dollar wilson combat comp for my 1911, but 350+ for a comp and a barrel system seems way to steep. Thanks for your evaluation, and thanks for getting me the new chest rig 7 days after black Friday!!
You can find them for about $300 when demand isn't super crazy like it has been. It's not just a comp but a barrel too so factor that into the price. What they didn't mention, is for those who like to disassemble and clean their pistols, this is the comp for you. What I don't like about standard comp/barrel combos is that the barrel is extremely hard to clean.
@@mutiracialbeatdownPB what? How do you put it in the slide then? All comps besides this comp are for threaded barrels with bottom set screws. There's literally no way the comp is part of the barrel brother.
@@2amichaeljpretty sure that's what he means. Typical comp is attached to the barrel and is stationary. If the wilson 1911 comp is anything like most cheaper 1911 comps, it replaces the barrel bushing and attaches to the slide rather than the barrel. Its moves with the slide as it cycles, likely reducing its affectiveness relative to a barrel mounted comp. Think that's what he's getting at anyway.

Well done and 100% agreed. WAY too much $ for what it does. If someone really wants their face blackened with burnt powder, they can do a $60 comp on a threaded barrel for a fraction of the price with likely the same or close to the same results. Does look really good though.
I got rid of mine. My G45 MOS and my G19 MOS neither liked the Radian setup. It fed so much grime and what appeared to be brass shavings into the frame. Gun got so dirty so fast.
I can also buy another Glock for the price of an EOTech or Trijicon red dot….so how are those optics price points justified to be sold on your website when there are plenty of cheaper better options on the market? Especially when those two brands have fallen way behind the curve in terms of features and innovation?
At the price point of the Radian system, you can pick up a legit KKM Barrel and Comp or a Parker Mountain Barrel and Comp that will give you better performance and match the overall length of a G19/45 with an X300 attached. Granted, you're talking overall length similar to a G34, but if you're running an X300, you're already at that length anyways.
I’m not sure if it’s urban legend or not, (still, I heed the warnings) that Glock doesn’t recommend a metal guide rod as it has now flex and can eventually cause slide damage. I’m a prepper of sorts so I always have a spare oem rod and spring…and also a spare oem striker assembly. $20&$50. And that higher than oem spring rate should only be needed for +p ammo. So the fact it eventually failed during your testing makes me very wary. I want it as it’s beautiful. Have threaded barrels already….now I’m thinking PMM.
It’s a cool mod to a g19 but yeah, buy a glock 47 and stick the longer slide on a 19 and you get the same benefit also. If these go less than 300 bucks I might get one down the line
@@Rubeless the 17&19 have the same proportions. But the 34 is 0.8" longer slide on a 17 frame. The Glock 49 (17 length slide, 19 frame, or a 47 slide on a 19) is only adding 0.5" to the 19 frame. Seems pretty sensible
Finally someone addressing the price point of this freaking thing. You can get a ported barrel and slide for cheaper and just swap that out on whatever your carry setup is. Unreal.
Good, honest assessment. I think you made the right call. The Ramjet is awesome, but for the price I'd rather just buy a Glock 17, considering I'd have to buy a G17 holster if I went with the Ramjet, anyway!
In the case of just getting a Glock 17 rather than a radian comp I think is actually kinda valid generally I think retail is now 549 599 around that and there’s always that used option from the local pawn shop think it would be really cool to see a comparison between the radian comp and say a PMM comp on a 17
Consensus... it does what it says it does if you have the money for it... But we wont sell it because we disagree with the price.... However buy our Radian charging handles ETA: After you bought your G19 you should go buy G17 as opposed to a comp for your G19. ETAA: Other videos have shown how this comp handles at night..
Good comparison, but I was surprised to hear you claim a malfunction every 2-400 rounds with Glocks. That's a LOT and I'm wondering how the heck you guys are eliciting that number of failures.
He said a failure to slide lock was considered a malfunction in their parameters.. I’m almost so used to that happening I don’t personally see it as a malfunction but I think that’s why the stated numbers are high
I see, but that's still not a fair assessment as that is typically a user error - putting upwards pressure on the slide release while gripping. @@patrickavondale8653
The price seems quite excessive compared to the cost required to produce something like that. If they have to charge that much to cover employee compensation, then I need to go work for them.
I've got close to 12,000 rounds through my Ramjet/Afterburner over the course of a little over a year, and I'll say this... If you're buying the Afterburner, go ahead and do yourself a favor and buy the Compressor guide rod. You will thank me later. I was having a weird double feed issue with mine until I put the 15lbs spring in and it's been running like a top for at least a few thousand now. EDIT: I want to add that the double feeds with with Blazer 115gr and 124gr, didn't have the issues with other ammo, if I remember correctly. Could've been an ammo issue, but it has ran fine with all sorts of other crappy 115gr (even Tula steel cased and some weird Turkish ammo that has seemingly has zero flash suppressant in it). I've found that the Badlands Ammo Co's Jello-Shots are the best shooting rounds for this set up in my experience.
@@TheRedArrowExpress It depends on what you want. I feel like a Glock 17 is a better all around option and is much cheaper, too. I would recommend the 17 if you plan on carrying it, too, because I typically want my carry Glocks as stock as possible (though I'll admit I do carry my G with the Afterburner). If you want something that shoots super flat and fast, go Afterburner. It was def worth the investment for me, but I also use this same set up to shoot USPSA, steel challenge, etc.

The price is comp and barrel. You make it sound like it is just a comp. Im lucky to be able to afford a few guns and accessories to go with them. As an owner of over a few dozen Glocks in various configurations, I think the Radian comp is a great buy.
@user-vv9lr2rw5d I think he's asking what the benefits of a barrel upgrade versus stock barrel are? And does the cost justify it? The barrel alone doesn't at all, but to your point, in order to get the benefit of the comp, it attaches to said barrel.
I think I’m fairly alone in this opinion…but not sure why it matters how the price of the ramjet compares to the Glock. If the Glock cost 2k, would you find the ramjet a better proposition? As in…increases performance edge to whatever degree, for a relatively ‘low cost’ in comparison to cost of gun. I mean it’s kind of great that Glocks are ‘cheap’…but not sure why that should influence so heavily what you’re willing to pay for performance increases. And maybe buy the case of ammo AND the ramjet? Great review, just the economies logic doesn’t lead me to same conclusion.

Wow, you’re really good at putting the gun in the holster fast! Is that so you can put handcuffs on patriot?
I got this for my G19.3 when I lived in California. I agree completely with everything he said. Negligible reliability issues. Looks really good. Not worth $400. Just hold the gun better more better and save $400. But if you can afford it then its pretty neat, fun to have, and will be an interesting piece of firearms history in 20 years.
It looks cool. That's half the fun.
Rule #1 - Look cool. LOL I do like mine on my MR920 @@GTFBITK
Why didn’t you change the springs to see if that would fix the no lock back? You had the springs. That makes no sense
Got one on my G45. Shooting next to my 17, I can definitely tell the difference. My dot stays in the glass. I don't notice any more concussion; maybe because I'm shooting outdoors. Shot it next to my PDP Pro full size and can really tell a difference.
Compensate that pdp pro, it’s soooo good when you do, zero malfunctions on mine
Nice video thanks ! One thing bugged me : Brandon says that trex's glocks have a failure every ~400 rounds.
Is it supposed to be a "normal" failure rate ? I have two gen5 9mm, 5k rounds through them and litteraly zero failure.
Maybe are you issues ammo related instead of guns related ?
Yeah I thought that was crazy too. I probably haven't had a malfunction with glocks in several thousand rounds and even that was a bad primer.
Thank you for an honest presentation.
Im dont own any glocks but wanted to hear about the product. Im more of a Canik fan then glock. That being said Blast 45 makes a comp for $210 for Caniks specifically and i believe it will out perform any comp on any glock. Basically turns a tp9 into a TTI
All evacuations have been complete. It’s perfect and truly works. I have one in five different pistols. 😎🇺🇸👍
@@musician445 you are correct haha multiple UA-cam tabs open I guess ahah
@@ReCyclops1232 No problamo, i'm right there with ya lol.
So ported 17 or 45 ramjet?
I was just made aware that Radian has changed the design of the ramjet/afternurner. So which version did you get?
I think the performance was excellent when I had mine. However, there is far too much impact shift between different ammo types. With most oem barrels my carry ammo and range ammo are within 1-2” at 25 yards. With the ramjet it was 5-6” off. Huge pain for training.
I've had zero shift.
Idk how, several tests with different grain bullets have shown to have zero shift in comparison to stock barrels.
You’re cappin, check your skills
@@BananarchOfTedKacistan I’m not the best shooter, but I regularly score mid 90s with my g45 on a b8 at 25 yards. The ramjet was throwing other rounds even of the same grain weight 3-6 inches off depending on the load. A shooter more experienced than myself that regularly scores in the high 90’s with his G45 also had the exact same issue.
@@jonah8133 me or Bananarch?
The failure rate on your stock glock is 1 out of 200 or 400 rds. Isnt that bad?
lol that’s horrible. I shoot thousands of rounds of LAX reman 9mm and never had a malfunction out of my gen3 19
8 months late, but yes, that’s terrible.
Are you evaluating the Gen 1 or Gen 2 version? The teardrop barrel or the round barrel? They recently changed their design.
That's not a real comp, just a weight on the end of the slide. A real comp is part of the barrel
@@2amichaelj 1911/2011 barrels come out the front lol!
I havnt had any malfunctions yet but I have kept lubed i really like the way it looks concussion dosnt bug me and the flash looks pretty sweet .
For that price point, you can definitely buy a CZ P-09/P-10C. Interesting compensator though!
Yes but do you need another handgun or is it better to upgrade the one you have. No wrong answers.
@@islas357I'd say another handgun would be a better choice tbh. Two solid and shootable handguns are better than a single soft shooting handgun.
That said I'm still interested in these.
@@robertparis5680if you have several guns already there is no point to buy more guns just because it cost the same as a gun. You could buy 4 hi points 😂
Nice to see someone being honest.
Why didn’t you change the spring out to the other one to see if it was the 15lb spring?
Glock OEM is 17lns for 17 length slide & 18 for.a.19 length slide.
Please balance the audio so the gunshots are not louder than the talking.
I hope to see more similar stuff where Brandon breaks down his thoughts, he conveys the information and his experience well.
Well done and 100% agreed. WAY too much $ for what it does. If someone really wants their face blackened with burnt powder, they can do a $60 comp on a threaded barrel for a fraction of the price with likely the same or close to the same results. Does look really good though.
They are little pricey but what a night and day difference on my G45
Ammo to use, 90 95gr, 115gr, 124+p - 147+p grain?
Maybe when the demand begins to slow for these, they'll offer better dealer pricing? Thanks for your review.
I feel the same way about TREX products prices! Save your money and buy ammo!
Just a heads up noplace else is it 470 for the conplete kit. Its been 350-400 always.
I'd rather buy ammo. Thank you for being thorough in your opinions!
I don't personally feel more concussion from it.
One thing to know: don't know use Magtech 9mms. They will not chamber and could get stuck.
Same with Fiocchi 115
Would it fit on one of your Raptor Holsters? Glock 45 + Ramjet?
I got rid of mine. My G45 MOS and my G19 MOS neither liked the Radian setup. It fed so much grime and what appeared to be brass shavings into the frame. Gun got so dirty so fast.
Does the "cover threaded barrel" option on a G19 sidecar fit a G19 with ramjet? or should one order a G17 sidecar. Thanks!
I can also buy another Glock for the price of an EOTech or Trijicon red dot….so how are those optics price points justified to be sold on your website when there are plenty of cheaper better options on the market?
Especially when those two brands have fallen way behind the curve in terms of features and innovation?
Appreciate the information and honesty
I thought stock Glock 19 recoil springs are 18lbs. The 17’s are 17lbs, aren’t they?
Correct.
Shouldn't switching down to the 13lb spring resolve the slidelock issue?
No one is gonna ask what happened at 4:12 ?
Homie clacked one off
What ammo did you run? I have found I have to run 124’s to get it to feed on a stock Glock spring.
It’s a cool mod to a g19 but yeah, buy a glock 47 and stick the longer slide on a 19 and you get the same benefit also. If these go less than 300 bucks I might get one down the line
Long slide in a short grip? Makes no sense
@@Rubeless not really my vibe but theoretically putting a ramjet on a 19 makes it a Glock 49 😂
I’ve been curious about these. Glad to see y’all doing an evaluation on them.
Do people normally have a lot of malfunctions on regular comps? I’ve never had one.
I’ve shot thousands of rounds out of my gen3 19 and never had a malfunction. How are you having malfunctions every few hundred rounds?
Just found a g45 with a sro , x300, magwell, +5 base pad , this radian ramjet and after burner , stock barrel and 2 mags for 1400$ 🙌🏻
Do you know if you guys are going to be coming out with one for the Glock 21 Gen 5
Finally someone addressing the price point of this freaking thing. You can get a ported barrel and slide for cheaper and just swap that out on whatever your carry setup is. Unreal.
but i can't do that in my state :/
Good, honest assessment. I think you made the right call. The Ramjet is awesome, but for the price I'd rather just buy a Glock 17, considering I'd have to buy a G17 holster if I went with the Ramjet, anyway!
My G45 Ramjet fits fine in the origin holster I bought for it. It’s not a 17 holster.
In the case of just getting a Glock 17 rather than a radian comp I think is actually kinda valid generally I think retail is now 549 599 around that and there’s always that used option from the local pawn shop think it would be really cool to see a comparison between the radian comp and say a PMM comp on a 17
For someone looking to get one of these comps on a 19, would you recommend your 19 holster or your 17 holster?
One think I don't like about the compensator is its too short and doesn't protect surefire light.
Consensus... it does what it says it does if you have the money for it...
But we wont sell it because we disagree with the price....
However buy our Radian charging handles
ETA: After you bought your G19 you should go buy G17 as opposed to a comp for your G19.
ETAA: Other videos have shown how this comp handles at night..
The OEM g19 spring on gen 5 is 18 not 15lbs
What's the repair for the slide lock?
Since you have 12,000 rounds do you think it's better to get a Glock 17 like the video suggests? Was the price point worth it for you?
@@TheRedArrowExpress It depends on what you want. I feel like a Glock 17 is a better all around option and is much cheaper, too. I would recommend the 17 if you plan on carrying it, too, because I typically want my carry Glocks as stock as possible (though I'll admit I do carry my G with the Afterburner). If you want something that shoots super flat and fast, go Afterburner. It was def worth the investment for me, but I also use this same set up to shoot USPSA, steel challenge, etc.
@WheelchairOperator
Thank you for your insight and with the familiarity you have with the product and if this were available for the Glock 17 would you buy it? Assuming that you did not have it for the Glock 19 or had the funds to buy it for another handgun.
Radian is coming out with the 17 version and I have pictures of it somewhere if you'd like them. I would definitely buy the Ramjet for the 17 if I had one. I really love the unit.

Ah sweet, I'll probably get it for a stripped build then.
Thank you very much for taking the time to answer my questions.
Machine shop I work at is making some pretty cool stuff for radian right now. The parts aren’t out yet so I can’t say what they are but I will say I’ll be buying a new pistol just to add these parts 🤫
May you please review KKM stainless precision barrel?
The price is comp and barrel. You make it sound like it is just a comp. Im lucky to be able to afford a few guns and accessories to go with them. As an owner of over a few dozen Glocks in various configurations, I think the Radian comp is a great buy.
Why do you need a barrel upgrade in the first place?
@@TREXARMORYin order to use the comp…or a comp. You can’t just stick it on with bubblegum
@user-vv9lr2rw5d I think he's asking what the benefits of a barrel upgrade versus stock barrel are? And does the cost justify it? The barrel alone doesn't at all, but to your point, in order to get the benefit of the comp, it attaches to said barrel.
What was that at 4:20...?
I’m surprised they put that clip in….
I don’t know what company he is taking but I’m going to buy from his. The price point is super important
I just got mine the weekend of Black Friday, I got the ramjet + afterburner for $330 with shipping, you said $480? That’s a pretty penny
The price on these things are pretty up there. Spend the money on ammo and practice with what you have.
