@bellyacres7846 I haven't found a ratchet adapter yet that will work. The ones I've tried always locks in both directions when used in a drill because of the high speed. I've come close several times of having my wrist broken.
Just remember to use ratchet adapter so it doesn’t tear up drill or nut on mower. I been using mine for years. Use on mower, chain saw, generator and weed trimmer. Works great.

This was a very good build. Thanks for the upload. I'm going to do this myself, but I'm going to use it on a predator generator and add a remote control for the motor so that I can crank it up during this winter without having to go outside into the cold to hand crank it. This is a very good and useful idea. Many thanks to you!
great idea, recycling parts of systems to make anothers. It make me smile, as i have also take the motor and transmission of the old same toy 3 years ago ;) I don't know for what purpose at this time, but i will see ;)
People are fascinated with letting electricity do all the work. The beauty of a standard car is you can push start it. Doesn't matter if the battery dies. I like to use muscle power. It's more reliable.
Going with this person's ability, they are not a novice at this as the quality of the build is professional standard,i suspect they have had training or work in this industry,as most of us are handy but this is the build quality that goes into things like Dyson or landwirk companies
That was a nice job but why did you remove the filters from the starter motor? With all of the dust mowers produce I would think they would be very important.
That's pretty clever and nice work by the way but back in my day I would just use my cordless drill and a socket and extension and spin the flywheel nut
Do the fly wheels on these little engines not keep running when the engine is running? because if they do, that electric motor will still be attached to the spinning fly wheel just moving.
The flywheel does, but the motor and gear disconnect. Those two little spring loaded arms extend due to centrifugal force once the rope is pulled/motor spins. That makes the connection to the flywheel. After pull/spinning, the arms fold in again.
Awesome job but you Shouldn't use heavy grease in the dog leg spring area as it stops them retracting properly and i think thats what that awful squeely noise was when the engine was running
I toyed with the idea of fitting a starter motor to my mower but Aldi was selling one with electric start and self propel for A$280.......how could I not get excited?
Good idea. But when you use the battery without safety electronics, you can destroy it if you drain it completely. There is an electronic device in the battery, but it does not protect against reverse polarity on the cells.
Although I'll need to do some things differently I'm going to attempt this with my 5.5hp cub cadet engine. Ist off is my recoil start housing is made from steel instead of plastic. Next is the fact I've picked up 3 different power wheels cars for free but all have the 6v motor and single wheel gearbox. All have the cog type gear that mates with cog made onto the wheel. I shouldn't have a problem with making the set-up work. I also have two 12v motors from another power wheels car. I think the gearbox will stand up to starting my engine and I know others have replaced the 6v motor with a 12v motor. My biggest concern is will the 12v motor and 6v gearbox stand up to a 20v Dewalt battery? Will the 20v battery burn up the 12v motor or if it doesn't burn up the 12v motor will it create to much torque and strip out all the gears in the gearbox? Now for my main questions of preventing this. One should I use a 20v to 12v step down converter or should I use a speed controller with the 20v battery? I could dial down the speed enough to where it doesn't trash the gearbox. Both the speed controller and the step-down converter are fairly inexpensive with not much difference in price between the two. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
And then you take the risk of breaking your wrist. Also if it stalls then you need to go get your drill to start it again, unless you wear the drill on your waist like a handgun 😅

The company that produces that glue should pay you money - I went and bought that glue after I saw it in your clips - you use it at everything :))
Kidding aside, this glue is really great my Friend🙌🙂🤝

It's not Glue it's Grease to lubricant the moving parts it's just in a syringe.
Would have cost less to pay attention and buy a better mower, not too bright.

Ingenious but very complex and model specific.
Check the valve clearances on this mower. If you set them up well, it will fire better.
Been setting mine by what Teryl does 4 thousandths. Does fire better.
I imagine the gearing from the Power Wheels gearbox is really low. Gives you more torque, but it turns slow.
Good job BUT, you didn't finish it. you forgot to put a cover over the little starter motor. it will get dirt and dust inside.

About as long as that micro switch pulling 10 to 15 Amps to start the mower...
After watching this video I think I’ll just go down to the local Home Depot or Lowe’s and just buy a battery powered mower 😮

Hello
This is a two-component adhesive "Mitre Apel"
That's pretty clever and nice work by the way but back in my day I would just use my cordless drill and a socket and extension and spin the flywheel nut
That's a really excellent way to break your wrist (if you don't have an adapter that prevents rotation feeding back to the drill).

Установка аккумулятора над цилиндром не очень удачная идея. А так отлично 👌 придумано🎉
This has inspired me! Do you know what rpm that motor ended up turning the engine at? What rpm does the crank need to be turned at to start engine?
Please cover the starter motor.
The motor badly needs a cover but other than that I like what you did.
İ want to make my 110cc ATV engine starter like this but with this reduction its to slow to turn the engine
That's exactly why I used a 20V battery.

what is that spray that you use? brakekcleaner?
It is a two-part adhesive with a spray hardener (Mitre Apel, Akfix 705 etc.)
What's that spray after the glue?
Without a bendix to disengage the gear, the gear will wear down fast.
It does disengage all he did was motorized the pull start mechanism which disengages by those metal pins and springs that he installed twards the end
Re watched the video. missed the clutch install before.
Good idea. But when you use the battery without safety electronics, you can destroy it if you drain it completely. There is an electronic device in the battery, but it does not protect against reverse polarity on the cells.
