I love it when someone restores a VW Beetle so lovingly. For me, a VW Beetle is the best car in the world. No Ferrari or anything else comes close to the Beetle, most likely a Porsche 356. Thank you for the restoration and for the video about it.
My brother worked at a VW dealership for several years before opening his own shop. During the oil embargo, I needed a cheap, dependable car for work. When I told what I wanted, he "made" one for me from stuff around his shop. It was orange, blue and grey, but it had a rebuilt engine and transmission. I took it to a local trade school and had it painted. My total cost was $600. I drove it for several years then gave it to my mom who drove it for several years. She ran it for about five years before it went to my brother's son. They have become so sought after as to be unaffordable; loved those old cars.
My dad bought a 1962 Beetle when he was stationed in France. Brought it back to the states and brought it home to Philly and drove it to his next assignment at Glasgow AFB, MT. Drove out there in January 1963. Made a couple trips in it back and forth to Philly with me in the back seat. When he was in Montana, his car was the only one that would start up in the winters buried in snow. He would drive around people to look for their cars buried in the snow. Respect to those who were sent out to Guam then Vietnam and to those out in Saint Marie. One day I’ll get a black 1962 Beetle. Awesome channel,
Had a 66 beetle in Germany, got a 67 back in the states. 1970-1972 You are a excellent craftsman! I used to remove the engine in 4 min. That was a long time ago. Thank you!
I used to watch the mechanics in Munich drop engines rolling under the back and letting it come down on their chest then rolling out , it was incredible.
Totally mesmerized watching you save this awesome Beetle. Very expensive and difficult to find nowadays here in South Africa. I love the older models with the sloped headlights and small taillights. Awesome job so far, I can't stop watching lol.👍👌🇿🇦

That sir was an amazing tutorial, I have to confess I would have just bought a new chassis front to back and bolted that beautiful patina-ed body to it, you have an amazing amount of knowledge and the energy to get it done and it will be 95% original to boot.

Most interesting dichotomy in that vintage VW is that the only filter in the oil system is a screen in the pick up, yet the two halves of the engine block fit together without a gasket.

Back in the 60's and 70's I owned a 1967, 1968 and 1971 Beetle. A 1961 and 63 buses and a 1973 914 like the one in the background of this video. Later I bought a Rabbit. My favorite of all was the 1967 Beetle. Great cars and well engineered.
Thanks for showing the proper way to weld in floor pans to the tunnel lip. I had a ‘58 VW type 1 while in college in the 90s. I am going. Got spare the embarrassment of how I attached mine other than to say I didn’t drill holes on the edge of the pan, burned many holes with the rented mig, brazed per of it on and screwed some of it on and construction adhesived the entire pan in. Using all atttachment methods it held - I think in a crash the seats would have tore the pan off. lol
My cousin have a 67 vw and they call it a classic and they name it after the movie and he still have it in good shape i admire these vw bug and the van also with the twin cabberraiter you are doing a good job keep it up

Amazing how you got so much work done in such a short time. You have mastered a lot of skills over the years. The fitting of those floor pans alone would have taken you a week or more a year ago. It's proud to see my favorite tires, Petlas PT311 Elegant, I've just recognized it from its pattern. It is non-directional and its wet and dry grip performance is better than any Michelin I've used.

Little concerned about the baby powder, apparently asbestos has been found in this stuff, think it's a bit late in the day but hey there's always something that gets us😂😂..nice vid.

Every time I do that, I'm able to organize and do a beautiful job. The inside of the pit is also clean and it's great to work with your bare hands by focusing your senses directly.🎉😮
This is the right way to own a vintage car, do a full restoration. When you are done it will be like new or better. Then you know every inch of it and can work on it yourself. I did a full restoration on a VW Dune Buggy.
I had a friend who told me he had a Beetle that he special ordered in '68. He waited 2 weeks for it to come from Germany. He said it was the first one to have...(fuel injection, or a turbo. Can't remember which one). He drove it every day for 33 years and sold it for $600. I told him he should have got $3000 for it.
With all the time and money you have put into this project can't believe you haven't invested in a sand blaster to clean up the rusty metal it does a much better job

The job you are doing is Amazing and very professional I was going to say very good on safety till you released it and bounced lolol ! But I loved the way you work , the only recommendation is for people they start doing stuff like that is for your next video try to explain some stuff so also your videos could teach rookies for example when you use penetrating lubricant to release bolts to don't damage threats and bolts etc or diesel to remove grease just some examples! Will follow you thanks for sharing!!
Had a 71 super beetle back in 1991, loved it, wish I still had it. Love to find an all original 66 beetle, powder blue original paint if possible. That's my goal.

What a great car to restore. I learned to drive in a 1964 VW Beetle in the Rose Bowl parking lot. It was dirt then.

My 1973 VW beetle with the gene burg case counterweighted crankshaft. 041 heads dual 2 barrel carter carbs. I miss that car.

You should invest in weld- through primer. It will prevent corrosion in seems and provide a step up in your welding quality.
