Thanks for uploading this today, the way I would have spent my 41st birthday. This is one way to put a cheerful grin on the face of me, the Birthday Girl: capturing two GWR tank engines crossing paths at Williton Station. It would have been my best birthday present.
Hi Mike thanks for the invite and a lovely morning. I really enjoyed our morning together and reminiscing of past events. Great video to add to my collection. It is great to have these memories of the time we have spent together. Hope to catch up with you.and Val next time I am down this way. Steve.
Hi Mike, splendid video as always. The tractor was a Massey Ferguson 135 mk 2 from the early 70s, the original 135 from the late 60s has much more rounded rear mudguards with no lights on them. It was probably the worlds best selling tractor and there are many hundreds still working today. My favourite tractor and hopefully restoring one will be another retirement project for me in 13 years, not that I'm counting!
Nice to hear that info from an expert. I believe it also belongs to Mr Martin but its the first time I have seen it. He has three of the original grey Ferguson tractors.
Mike great video, down to the topiary if I may call it that in the garden. It's peak season for you in UK, but surprising to see so many boarding/alighting at Williton, as I hadn't though it was used by many compared to say Blue Anchor with its seaside. At 3:42 I couldn't understand what you said. As an idea for a future video, could you film from inside Blue Anchor or Williton signal boxes (preferably the latter, as it has regular crosses) and show viewers the entire process that the signalman goes through including bell codes, insertion of token(s) and withdrawal, plus pulling of interlocked levers?
I was invited in to film the whole process in the signal box at at Bishops Lydeard some time ago but the WSR management later asked me to delete the video. That was sad as it had many viewings and comments said it could be used as a good signalman training video. In recent times a friendly signalman did invite me in to the box at Crowcombe, but of course that is a very less active signal box. The video of that is still on line.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER Not just sad, but shortsighted. There are various other videos on UA-cam worldwide about signal boxes: what was management thinking? Worried about vandalism? I'd have thought railways like WSR need the positive publicity that you constantly generate, as this leads to more patronage.
@@ADMIRALSCORNER Given health concerns, I'd hope you are treated with respect. Not every staffer/volunteer will know you given the turnover (despite you having been one) but some must recognise you, even if only from watching these topical, engaging videos. Perhaps I'll say 'hi' in September if you're not having a medical appt. No mistake - Val and you are of help to WSR.
Great video Mike..really enjoyed this one
Very enjoyable- what lovely hanging baskets- they do make a show. Thank you!
Yes they do look good!
Nice video Mike.Good commentary as usual -so natural !
Thanks Al. I wish I could get better wind protection on my little camera!
Yet another great video Mike, good to see the two trains crossing from a good vantage point.
Thanks Terry. It was good to show my friend what happens when two trains cross there. That doesn't always happen.

Many happy returns Kelly! We are glad you are happy!

Thanks Steve. It's a pity you didn't have your magnificent classic car with you that morning as it certainly is worthy of more video!
That box hedge in the garden adjoining the station looks amazing but very time consuming . So green and healthy.
That style of maze like greenery is known as a Nott Garden. It certainly does involve a lot of work!
I’m heading here tomorrow

At 3.42 I was saying it was refreshment time for the crew as the on board buffet staff member handed then drinks.

@@edmundcarew7235 Sometimes I get the feeling that I am intruding and stealing something rather than helping the railway!

I spied Steve Lewis on the up train Mike, did you not spot him. Clive
I did wonder if it was him but couldn't be sure. If so I am glad his new job allows him time to be back on the railway.
