One like isn’t enough for this. I’ve given up on explaining my “favorites” of music to others because often it is something as minuscule as a two measure flip of a hi-hat pattern that ignites whatever makes my life worth living. You did a great job of pointing out some of those little things that Danny does so well. Full disclosure: Danny Carey is my favorite drummer, and I could type for hours on the reasons why he brings me to my knees as a musician. You could react to any tool video and any tool member and I’d fangirl over it.... but honestly, there is a darn good reason.
You say that there is a lot for a drummer to learn from Danny Carey, and I would add... there is a lot that ANY type of musician can learn from Danny. I watch his drum cam videos and it makes me want to work on being better at everything I do. He’s a beast.
Not sure if he specifically studied music in school, but it wouldn’t be surprising. I know that he travels the world NOW going to universities to share the things he has learned and also to take classes and learn. He applies a lot of these “uncommon to the western ear” rhythms and patterns into Tool’s more eclectic songs.
There are a few other decent Danny videos out there... I’d love to hear more of your take on his work!

Another Great video and Happy Birthday. When it comes to Tool, there aren't a lot of videos of any of them playing very much. I know they use to do this on purpose. They use to use lighting tricks to hide the members so you couldn't recognize them. Which is very unfortunate. I'd be very interested to get your opinion on the Kids Cover of 46 and 2 by Tool from the O'Keefe Music Foundation. It isn't a video showing only the drummer the whole time but it does so a lot of the important bits on the drums.

You mentioned "Sober"... I participated in a fun competition a couple years ago at the local university bar called "The Pub". The competition was called PUB also, but was short for Pick-Up Band. Individual musicians sign up by name and instrument. They create 4-5piece bands by random selection, but the catch is that you don't know who you are matched with until 24hours before your performance. In that 24 hours, each random group must prepare two covers and one original. The guitar player INSISTED on doing a Tool song, and we landed on "Sober." I've played hard rock for a long time, but the idea of pulling off a Danny Carey groove in less than 24 hours had me nervous!
Worse was that the rehearsal had to be quick runs thru covers to give more time for the original. When we tried it, my left foot did not want to cooperate at all. LOL. So as I sat waiting for our turn at the competition, I toe-tapped through the foot patterns under the table trying to force muscle memory. That must have worked because after our set everyone thought I nailed that song, and my bandmates asked me how I pulled that together in the hour between practice and the show. ( I know it wasn't up to my standards, but it felt good to know I had everyone else fooled!)

This is harder then most other bands hardest song and this song is on the lower end of there difficulty. Tick and leeches, the grudge

If you like Danny you should check out out Blake Richardson. His bands music is a bit heavy for most, but he has instrumental play throughs that will blow your mind. Very similar to Danny in style.

I have a few drummers to see ur opinion on. Mike Wengren - Disturbed. Tommy Lee - Motley Crue. And the Mastodan drummer (just started listening to him). Maybe another way to die for disturbed? U already covered my favs in Danny and Neil :)

Dude great analysis! You have to check out the drummer Paul Seidel who used to play in the band War From A Harlots Mouth. There is a video play through of him playing the song “To The Villains” here on UA-cam. I think you would really appreciate his playing and I’d love to see you do a drum analysis on his style. He is the perfect blend of technicality and groove at the same time. Thanks 🙏🏽

Great video man. Can’t believe they skipped the best part of the song (or any Tool song in my opinion), that locked in tom/bass groove in the bridge.

No idea why you popped up in my recommendations but glad it did. You already covered my top two so now we need Bonham, Copeland and Grohl.
Agree so much with your assessment of Peart being the best compositional drummer around but as a bit of an odd ball for that title, how about Phil Collins?

10:16 I have received that exact reference from a couple of sisters. I think it's because my head is relatively still while my arms do most of the moving.

Love how you get interrupted by a sudden drumgasm at 08:52. That's how I feel every time i listen to Tool. :D
Here's a top tip for your next reaction video. Morgan Ågren. Here performing on a show on Swedish national television, with Fredrik Thorndendal from Meshuggah, a show where he taught and talked about drumming. I guess you could call him a jazz/fussion/prog guy, and he plays like an animal...
