Danny Carey | Artist Spotlight (Dutch TV)

- Опубліковано 7 сер 2020
- Researching a documentary project I came across this old Dutch television show featuring Danny Carey. A fantastic insight into a drummer at the height (Still up there) of his powers.
Thanks to Barry Tomà for converted from VHS and sharing with the world.
Check out his page @ / @sena-76
My Brother met him and completely "fanboyed" out. Gave Danny the typical "I'm the biggest Fan!" Etc etc. Long story short Danny bought my brother a beer, offered him a special brownie and just talked to this random fan/my brother for about an hour before parting ways. Definitely not a Gene Simmons type.
that’s awesome. it’s so hard to find humble celebrities/successful people. i bet he’s such a chill friend too
Not surprised. Seems like a pretty down to earth guy. I hear that he likes to play open mic nights at certain bars for fun.
He's such a sweetheart.
It'd be hard not to geek out around any of em.
@@jamesnorton7601 (More back story) My brother didn't know it at the time. But, the other person Danny was talking to when he went to introduce himself was none other than the Drummer of Mastodon. *TMZ* out.
Love Danny Carey. He's so awesome. Best drummer ever and seems like such an awesome, super nice guy.
@Rubaida Allen - Yeah, when he’s not calling other band members a junkie.
@@danielwade1978 He called Kobain a junkie, and he was right.
Zurp :3 - And that wasn’t being very nice. I’m trying to understand your point . . . 🧐
I was in the military with a guy who was Maynards cousin. He told me that Maynard was a huge heroin guy. This was in 98 mind you. Point being, if one of the greatest drummers of all time calls as it as he sees it, he ain't lying...
Daniel Wade You don’t need to be nice when you’re calling a turd “a turd”.
15 minutes 43 seconds of pure bliss. Thanks so much for uploading this.
This shit has been on youtube for ages besides this re-edit. The whole video includes Adam talking about his guitar and they did a Radio Concert (pretty rare) on a local station in the Netherlands: ua-cam.com/video/kkOILv2EWHc/v-deo.html
@@Liberteh Awesome! Thanks very much for the link!
So they were mastering/mixing or whatever one of these 90s concerts, but after more than 20 years still It didn't get release. And Danny says they have tons of live material.
For the love of humankind release a freaking live dvd and album.
Seriously
I honestly think that they're a self aware enough band to know that their studio output isn't particularly vast but that when the day comes they decide to end the band or retire from touring that they'll have a lot of live material to release to fans. I think Salival was the faintest tip of the iceberg.
@@InAverySilentWay I think it would be fair to say at this time that moment has come....or came up with Fear Inoculum

Tool takes forever with everything, they showed us a new version of Opiate with Justin on Bass, with a new music video at the Tool clinic in 2018, and that's the last time I heard about it. Lol Adam rolled out a big screen TV like in HS and everything.
Because of Tool I sought out the mighty King Crimson and thus the rabbit hole of Prog... from listening to gangster rap and limp bizkit Tool was my gateway to such awesome musical adventures!
I’m so happy to hear that mate
Have you heard King Crimsons, 21st Century Schizoid Man yet?
867 5309 Yessir!! I first sought out a double live album and totally wasn’t into it... then I believe it was actually larks tongues in aspic that got me hooked... but that song is absolutely brilliant
Franklin Farwell How about Emerson, Lake and Palmers stuff?
Give the Mars volta a go if you haven't.
I am so glad technology allows us to preserve old tapes digitally! 🖤 Thank you 😊
Danny Carry is the one person I’d love to meet someday. I never geek out over anyone … except for him. I like his attitude and his amazing talent.
He’s been my “if you could meet any famous person who would it be?” pick for a long time.
Such intelligence, a strikingly gifted percussionist to be hailed in the likes of Buddy. Danny is a living legend, no doubt.
Absolute legend of a band with an absolute legend sitting at the kit! TOOL for life!!
Best drummer in the world making use of so many songs to enhance music...
He's a creative genius!
The best band ever. The best drumms in the band ever.
I was at that show at The Garage at Caddy’s Complex in Cincinnati. November of ‘96. My first Tool show. Psychotica opened and sucked. Then Tool came on and opened with Third Eye. They absolutely blew my mind and I’ve been a total Tool fanatic ever since.
I want to meet Danny Carey so bad he’s so great and so humble...
This is somewhere else on UA-cam already. But hell yeah I'll watch it again.
Danny's ideas of using sacred geometry and building your kit around Phi to sync with the proportions of your body changed my drumming forever.
I applied the concept to my kit build and it came out looking alot like Danny's.
I'm a weekend warrior so to speak but man, I feel like a legend when I sit behind it. As they say, it's the thought that counts 😉 imagination is creation
Dude! You’ve literally perfected the explanation of how I feel as well. DC’s drumming alone inspires me to be the drummer I am today. Such great stuff
I wish i would understand that. The building your kit around Phi i mean.
Time will always reserve a huge spot for Danny Carey and Tool.🤟🤟
Nice to see they are mixing their live CD in this, they seem to be right on schedule with the rest of their releases.
I'd say by Fall 1998, we should have the long-awaited Live DVD!!!
Can't wait, bro!
he seems like such a chill guy. i would love to sit and smoke with him and just jam
At 8:55 you can see Billy howerdel from a perfect circle who was the old guitar tech from tool
Danny you are an Angel.
Fantastic drummer really over the top amazing talent
Nice find, Cosmic Dawn. Thank you!
Danny Carey should have a "Art and Science of Drumming" channel... the guy can drop some knowledge...
Sucha boss.! 🙌 The more Danny the better :)
Very cool! Thanks for posting this. Danny is the GOAT!
Yes, humbled once again. Man I miss those shows.
Thank you so much for uploading this.
Loved this! Thank You .
Another gem. Thanks for the content!
Loved this, thank you, so inspiring.
Being a drummer myself and following DC for years, I'm proud to say we were born in the same hospital in Paola, Kansas. DC is a legend of a drummer. Huge inspiration.
Great video!
Thanks for the upload, appreciated!
This is amazing, thank you my dude
Echt mooi om te zien!
Hadn't seen this before, thanks to you both🤘!
King crimson’s discipline is unmatched alienated inhuman rhythmic art that will maybe never be matched.
There’s some stuff that just changes music forever like Hendrix, zeppelin, nirvana n tool. Incubus science is another album that is like no other, was their best and they never captured that lightning again
Thank you for sharing!
Welcome 🙏
Good stuff. Thanks!
Daamn! That 3rd 👀 section just slaps. 🔥🔥
03:00 fucking KING CRIMSON DISCIPLINE! Such a great album!
He was young and a master then and older and a god now,,
Discipline!
It's hard to pick a favourite. One day it's THRAK, the next it's Larks' Tongues... such a great discography start to finish.
I grew up listening to the same stuff.
Gday ftom Oz.
Drummer as well from age 7.
Noiiiice, brotha🤘🏼🥁🤘🏼
Would love to see the full Third Eye live on a drum cam, the live version they put out on CD is one of the best live songs I've ever heard.
Such a cool dude….
100 years from now shit like this will be archived , studied by musicians and artists and historians. Tool to me is the real life Wide Stalins.
Am i the only one who loves his voice? Its just soothing😊❤ Love that guy❣️
Me too!! Would love to meet him!
@judyannlance5368 girl I'd love to do more than that 😉LOL
@@susiejo143 yep! 😍
Metronomes practice to Danny Carey to improve their time.
Aenema tour was the best.
They sounded so tight.
To think for yourself... Is to question authority!
Think for yourself, question authority.
You are watching a documentory about a new discovered species of octopus
🤘🏽 dope Af, ty ty, Aloha 🤙🏽
Danny Carey created Earth so He'd have somewhere to drum.
Dude love this comment
🤘🏼🤘🏾🤘🏿🤘🏻
Wonder if that Cincinnati footage in full lies around somewhere in a dusty closet...
Dan is a collector. He for sure has it. Along with those Jeff Buckley recordings🎛
If you could, kindly ask Danny to share this with the world. Its a crying shame how little professional live video exists for this band.
@@toolbandtube The world needs to hear those Jeff Buckley recordings!
Recorded on a DA-88? Crazy!
We are in the Age of Danny Carey.
1:20 at first I was like who is this goofy guy swaying in front of Danny's kit? Is he a photographer or something? And then I realized it was Maynard lol!
He has great biceps.
Damn I wish I could’ve seen them from the beginning.
Yep and Tool last album is the prog metal Discipline album ;)
So glad he mentioned lenny white, , h
