Thank you, Jeremy, for new and fresh information. Your sound in all registers is as good or better than all players I've ever heard. Amazing!! At 82 years old and still love practicing and playing this the trumpet, I congratulate you. You're doing it right. I have to consider doing a Zoom lesson with you, when I can muster up the courage, best wishes, Mike.

Thanks for taking your time to demonstrate your technique regarding upper register playing. At 75 I think that I am happy playing with my local band and doing the best I can with the little skills that I have. Again I applaude you for reaching out to trumpet players to help them achieve greater abilities,

Hey there, thanks for the nice comment! And I applaud you for continuing to do what you love! I have many people in my community that are your age, and these techniques are greatly helping them play with less effort in and out of the upper register. Give them a try and please let me know if they benefit you in any way. Best regards, Jeremy…

Thank you Jerry. Thank you for what you are doing here on your channel.
Im 77 and started with cornet when I was 12 and played it for 3 years, but stopped because my embouchure did not devellop in a good way.
Bad sound in the low register, cracking tones and poor attacks now and then. Nevertheless I could play up to high A above high C.
Offcourse I studied long tones, slurring notes, intervals, staccato and all these things from the books.
Later I v picked up the trumpet again, did all those exercises to train the embouchure, but no progress, but I played 10 years in a big orchesterI on the second chair.
Then I stopped again, because of shoulderproblems.
I v been with great trumpeters and teachers, but none of them can really tell me what I do wrong.
They observe me, listen to me and they actionally can,t tell me what to do.
Everything looks good, but I dont sound good sometimes.
There are days that a part of my register sounds reasonable for a short time. I start on a G on the second line of the staff and play softly, whispering notes untill it sounds good and full as it should be.
Then slowly higher and lower. But I also have "bad embouchure days", then ......well everybody knows about that.
Maybe somebody wants to comment on this. I really would appreciate this.
    Thanks in advance

Hi Willem! I know it can be frustrating, but what I learned from William Adam helped me to overcome embouchure problems, and it will help anyone willing to try a new approach. The good news is that you can actually get better as you get older - Mr. Adam told me that in my very first lesson with him back in 1993, and he was 75 years old at the time...
I put together a Free on-demand masterclass that addresses how to do exactly that. It's about an hour long and very thorough. You can take a look here:

If you enter your email address, you'll receive the link to view it Free, and you can even book a Free trumpet chat with me to talk further. Sound OK?

Spot on with the air demonstration. For so many years I tried the wedge breath and it created so many problems because of over tightening in the abs which cause tension/restriction in the throat.

@@jeremymilos Can’t wait to see it. In the wedge breath explanation, Bobby Shew talks about pinning your stomach to your spine and firming your abs as if you’re about to take a punch. That wrecked me.

@@MarkMorganTrumpet The wedge breath technique has been a revelation to me. There seems to be no connection between abs and throat for me. The thing is, though, Bobby Shew learned the "wedge" technique from Maynard Farguson who learned it from yogis in India with whom he studied seriously. It's not just "abs" it's a specific chakra it's weird but it works.

      @MarkMorganTrumpet 2 роки тому +1

@@alexcarter8807 No doubt it has been beneficial to some. I studied with Bobby for about a year and followed his guidance on it, but in the end, it caused more problems than solutions. Speaking with Jim Manley, he had the same experience.

Hi! I totally hear you because I’ve been there myself. I watched a little of your Mount Wolverine video (great work on that!) and I would equate the upper register to climbing a mountain. You’ll get there eventually, if you keep at it. Sometimes you need a guide, and I think Charley Davis is a fantastic trumpet teacher. Some videos might contradict each other which can lead to a lot of confusion. The approach I use, and the approach Charley teaches, tries to eliminate that confusion! I have another upper register mindset video I’m going to post within a week. Look for it and that might help a little, hopefully! Good luck!

What's the deal with high notes on the trumpet? Unless they are done absolutely beautifully (which is super-rare), they sounds like mosquitoes on meth. Truly bad. I don't know why players even bother. They should stick to notes that sound good.
