I have a question. Nothing to do with the Drifter tho. My question is this. In Destiny 1, base game, there is a mission to the Ishtar Archives ( I think) in which a computer welcomes you- the gaurdian- back and calls you Dr. Shin. Any lore about him/ us?
I wish Ghosts played a larger role in the story. Hearing about the Drifter and the other "dark" Guardians who walked away from the Traveler and used their power for more nefarious purposes just makes me wonder what their Ghosts are like. What personalities do they have? They chose this person and continue to serve beside them after they've gone down this path and I'd like to see them. One of the things I really liked about the Osiris DLC was that his Ghost was a major character. I like Sagira and was happy to spend some time with her. I think Pulled Pork is an interesting character as well and I hope that we get to interact with him as much as we interact with Uldren. Now I want to meet the Drifter's Ghost and get to know Zavala and Ikora's Ghosts. They're characters who should be fleshed out like any of the Guardians.
There is even the collection of lore tabs called "Ghost Stories". Most of them revolve around either ghosts who never found their guardian, things they and their guardian do, or even ghosts deciding to not bring back what was supposed to be their guardian. Some of it is tragic, a little funny, and quite interesting. It's all up on the Ishtar Collective if you haven't gotten them all yourself.
Ghosts have huge roles, they're the ones selecting the resurrected...our Guardian wouldn't even have a story if not for our Ghost and nobody here would even be a part of the world we love in Destiny. David Cross Xol had to have his sword logic proven by us Guardians killing him, hence why Whisper of The Worm exists. My theory is that whatever is on the Drifter’s ship thingo has to consume the ‘soul’ or darkness of the Primeval.
I was playing Gambit right before fighting fallen and The Drifter said “show them why The Traveler left them and chose us!” I know it has been mentioned in lore previously that the traveler was with the fallen but just hearing it from an actual character in the game is so much cooler and knowing that it is now confirmed is pretty awesome
My favourite line from the drifter is, “I haven’t seen a fight like that since an Iron Lady named Efferdeet ruined my bar.” This implies the Drifter is at least as old as the iron lords, if not older. It also shows that for one reason or another, the iron lords saw it was in their best interest to go after him. What do you think of that?
Got into destiny 2 after a long while of not playing, found your channel and have listened to a majority of your lore videos as a way to chill and relax, and what better way than to listen to some lore. You're the best byf, keep it up!
The only really hard part about getting Dredgen is killing Invaders while in their super. They have to first use their super in the first place, and secondly the super they use really needs to be a roaming super. I have 3 kills to go until I get dredgen

The drifter is the personification of doubt. Doubt the Light, doubt the Traveler, doubt the City, the Game, the Dark, what we think we know, and even him. That's the point. He himself is doubtful of the Light, and doubtful of what we think of the Dark. It would appear a thinks we require both, or has some inkling. The Gambit says it on the tin: it introduces Guardians to the Dark, how it feels and works. Perhaps some will be seduced by it, but others... they will use it. Take it for themselves, and can you imagine the power of a Guardian, or a person capable of walking the line of light and dark with so much grace and precision?
Kyle Harlequin We should. Dredgen and the Shadows has their powers. Drifter does. Far as we know Guardians can do whatever they want and maintain their Light. Warlords in the Dark Age did nasty stuff.
I don't think it's the Darkness itself, but it certainly is intrinsically linked to it and the Light. Remember, the Hive also had Light-consuming swords, but they are not the real Darkness, only pawns to it and to the Worm Gods. I'm sure Byf will address that in time, though.

(If you’ve not got the full lore book, spoilers ahead, don’t say I didn’t warn you) The lore book described a formless, betentacled mass, inexorably drawn to the Light. It sucked up a Guardian’s light, and killed him in the process.
@@paintothemax7126 Yup! The main problem here is that we simply don't have enough information from the lore to accurately say what true Darkness really is. It may well be that Darkness simply never manifests directly, just as how the Light needs the Traveler as its medium. I'm very keen to see if the next season will give us more information about those things hiding in Drifter's Derelict.

Valus Tu'arc, from what I can gather he commands the Seige Dancers from an imperial land tank outside of Rubicon. He's well protected. But with the right team, we can punch through those defenses, take this beast out and break their grip on Freehold.

With the Followers of the Shadows Of Yor around the centuries being killed by The Last Word Bearer, Shin, we can guess that the Drifter is running from Shin, and his "Crew" or "Band" and he mentions in many ocassions is being hunted by Shin to kill them all like he did with Callum Sol, and by this he forged the Malfeasance with our help to kill Shin Malphur; because he said his crew needs a gun as powerful as the 'Thorn' of Dredgen Yor to defeat Shin Malphur commonly known as "The Gunslinger"...
Hopefully, Bungie gives more importance to this kind of Lore and introduce us a good quest of "The Last Word" returning on Jan. 29. With many lore introduction and more information about Shin Malphurs' intentions and The Drifters true purpose.

Within gambit, the drifter can be heard saying something along the lines of, “ you put us titans of the twilight gap to shame.” Not exact wording, but somewhere along those lines. This shows that, though he may not look like any class in particular, he classified himself as a titan.

Byf...dude. We collect Motes of Light and bank them. The “bank” turns the Motes of Light into Motes of Dark. That’s a HUGE reveal. Light turning into Dark with a machine with a weird lump of metal on top. That hints to the nature of the two...
The last entry in the Drifter’s lorebook, the one you get for Malfeasance, is by far the most interesting and casts the truthfulness of all the previous entries into doubt.
I really like the quote "the most dangerous games are played" a possible reference to the short story "the most dangerous game" which is about a rich man hunting other humans on his private island.
I am still working on the Malfeasance quest line only having gotten it recently. The Drifter says something along the lines of "If you cross me..." etc basically making a serious threat towards us. That did not sit well with me. To any young Guardian maybe they would brush it off. But for one who has slayed Hive Gods if my character could only talk i would pull out the line, "Do you know who I am?" And by playing his game of Gambit I will show him who I am. And know that if he wants to make good on his threat he will have a fight on his hands.

Im 100% shure that the drifter is not on our side hes just using us and im looking forward to penumbra because thats whem hes plan is gonna unfold, when you are on a match he apears in you radar as a enemy, all he really cares about is for you to summon the prime evil, but why if they are at hes disposal, whats the big deal? Aldo when you archive Dredgen he says now you are one of my friends they usually choose their name but your shall be Dredgen since it fits so well.
The radar thing was fixed, but I think that he is not evil but a chaotic neutral.He is trying to master the dark to fight the darkness in the future after seeing those totems in the icy planet.
It feels like every guardian is just a means to an end for him, and I don’t think there’s a mission with him where he personally didn’t get something out of it
Notice that the music from Gambit and that plays when the Drifter is onscreen is a corrupted, synthetic version of Destiny 2's main theme. I think that's a big hint at who he is. They did something similar in The Taken King, where the Taken had music that was synthetic and electric, but when you played through the mission "Regicide," certain aspects of the Taken music were replayed--but this time, am orchestra did it, signifying the purity of the Darkness that you were facing.
1:33 this hunter... this is the true legend right here. Stories will tell of him learning blink where no hunter could. The stories of him evading death by throwing his router into a toilet and putting a toaster with it. The man who surprisingly interested byf enough for him to be put in his video. The true MVP of gambit right there. No invader shall defeat him.
“Everyone’s favourite game mode, other than crucible” in lore, maybe, but by the community/meta? Absolutely not. (I hate Gambit, others may not, but I do) This is a really cool story, Byf! Warframe, yes please. Gambit yes please. There are times Drifter mentions: "Every mote you bank brings drifter closer to salvation" When you side with him in the Vanguard or Drifter quest, you're told he have a seat for you, in the ship, when things go "bad"
The drifter, knows some about the taken as the Malfeasence reward, he says a short dialogue about a special taken heart. The drifter is a lightbearer but decides to stay in the dark. Many connections are being put together to say that he may know the location of Eris Morn and that he may be an agent of the Nine.
I'm still waiting for Lysander to make his reappearance at the Last City to sway the Guardians to his way of thinking. It would be interesting to explore the concept of a Guardian Civil War. Not sure if there is any connection between the Drifter and Lysander (I doubt it but it would be very cool).
the question of "can we truly trust him?" is one of the reasons i haven't turned in the seething heart, mainly i'd like to see if it makes a difference in jokers wild, and if the time comes for a showdown i'll gladly take up my golden gun
My titan started falling after the hunt of prince uldren. The drifter gave him a way to express his anger and frustration. Safe to say a redemption arc is in his path whenever jokers wild comes

4 years later and theyve abandoned him and his story line. My favorite character delegated to the basement of the tower, such wasted potential.

My question is what is that swervy black thing in the glass container behind the drifter when you are about to transmat into the arena.
Within gambit, the drifter can be heard saying something along the lines of, “ you put us titans of the twilight gap to shame.” Not exact wording, but somewhere along those lines. This shows that, though he may not look like any class in particular, he classified himself as a titan.

I really like the quote "the most dangerous games are played" a possible reference to the short story "the most dangerous game" which is about a rich man hunting other humans on his private island.
The Nothingness/Void seems to be an eventual major enemy. With Darkness and Light we can defeat the enemy Calus saw. The perfect void.

The drifter is by far one of my favorite characters because he is not blinded by light or dark propaganda and has his own style

I am still working on the Malfeasance quest line only having gotten it recently. The Drifter says something along the lines of "If you cross me..." etc basically making a serious threat towards us. That did not sit well with me. To any young Guardian maybe they would brush it off. But for one who has slayed Hive Gods if my character could only talk i would pull out the line, "Do you know who I am?" And by playing his game of Gambit I will show him who I am. And know that if he wants to make good on his threat he will have a fight on his hands.

Im 100% shure that the drifter is not on our side hes just using us and im looking forward to penumbra because thats whem hes plan is gonna unfold, when you are on a match he apears in you radar as a enemy, all he really cares about is for you to summon the prime evil, but why if they are at hes disposal, whats the big deal? Aldo when you archive Dredgen he says now you are one of my friends they usually choose their name but your shall be Dredgen since it fits so well.
The radar thing was fixed, but I think that he is not evil but a chaotic neutral.He is trying to master the dark to fight the darkness in the future after seeing those totems in the icy planet.
It feels like every guardian is just a means to an end for him, and I don’t think there’s a mission with him where he personally didn’t get something out of it

Notice that the music from Gambit and that plays when the Drifter is onscreen is a corrupted, synthetic version of Destiny 2's main theme. I think that's a big hint at who he is.
They did something similar in The Taken King, where the Taken had music that was synthetic and electric, but when you played through the mission "Regicide," certain aspects of the Taken music were replayed--but this time, am orchestra did it, signifying the purity of the Darkness that you were facing.
Why does no one talking about him not picking up motes. I don't understand why you don't want to pick up motes
1:33 this hunter... this is the true legend right here. Stories will tell of him learning blink where no hunter could. The stories of him evading death by throwing his router into a toilet and putting a toaster with it. The man who surprisingly interested byf enough for him to be put in his video. The true MVP of gambit right there. No invader shall defeat him.
“Everyone’s favourite game mode, other than crucible” in lore, maybe, but by the community/meta? Absolutely not. (I hate Gambit, others may not, but I do)
This is a really cool story, Byf! Really interesting to see his lore. Lore-wise, I don’t want Malfeasance, because I love Shin Malphur as a character and I don’t want to kill him :(

I know this is somewhat unrelated but Can I point out at this stage that we have no idea if it was us or Petra who killed uldren when the screen went black? I think it was Petra though, listen to the gunshot sound, I'm pretty sure the ace of spades dosent make that noise
Warframe, yes please. Gambit yes please. There are times Drifter mentions: "Every mote you bank brings drifter closer to salvation" When you side with him in the Vanguard or Drifter quest, you're told he have a seat for you, in the ship, when things go "bad"

The drifter, knows some about the taken as the Malfeasence reward, he says a short dialogue about a special taken heart. The drifter is a lightbearer but decides to stay in the dark. Many connections are being put together to say that he may know the location of Eris Morn and that he may be an agent of the Nine.
Absolutely love these videos. Be it Destiny, Monster Hunter, Warframe or any other lore video, you can be assured that I’ll excitedly consume it!
I'm still waiting for Lysander to make his reappearance at the Last City to sway the Guardians to his way of thinking. It would be interesting to explore the concept of a Guardian Civil War. Not sure if there is any connection between the Drifter and Lysander (I doubt it but it would be very cool).

the question of "can we truly trust him?" is one of the reasons i haven't turned in the seething heart, mainly i'd like to see if it makes a difference in jokers wild, and if the time comes for a showdown i'll gladly take up my golden gun

My titan started falling after the hunt of prince uldren. The drifter gave him a way to express his anger and frustration. Safe to say a redemption arc is in his path whenever jokers wild comes
