@@DarkWolf-gj9ty but don't you have to be a Guardian to take on the dare? If so then Uldrin might not be the Hunter Vanguard because he didn't remember killing Cayde then he can't be the Hunter Vanguard not only that us Hunter mains can get Caydes cloak/Hunter Vanguard Dare cloak suggesting that us Hunter mains are the Hunter Vanguard because that Cloak gets passed down to Hunter to Hunter. But I could be wrong Uldrin could possibly become the Hunter Vanguard but I would prefer if it was someone from the lore or someone from Destiny 1.
I wonder how Cayde would react if he knew Uldren, his killer, came back from the dead and a Guardian no less. He'd probably laugh and tease him about it, but most importantly, he would give him a chance, because Cayde knows what it is to come back knowing nothing about yourself and about what you did before in your previous lives, and I think we should do the same and give Uldren a chance.
@@BigPanda096 Yes, you're right! I think with a Ghost like that he'll turn out an actually really nice person, might even add a bit of humor to the dialogue between him and the other Vanguards, them being salty and him not sure how to respond xD
for REAL! I hadn't had the opportunity to do the dreaming city quest when in my youtube subscription list a thumbnail of the spoiler showed up and I STRAIGHT unsubbed to that group. I will say though, I didn't get spoiled on the how and that was still mindblowing.
"Cayde's role in The Taken King was originally possessed by Uldren Sov in the original story of Destiny. Cayde's personality is how Sov would have been portrayed." This is straight out from the destiny wiki, and I'm speculating that Bungie wanted to give the Cayde-ish Uldren Sov version a shot, its just a shame that they had to kill off Cayde for this. Just imagine if we got two carefree, sarcastic hunters being best friends or rivals. That could've spiced up Destiny 2's character roster in terms of personality a bit more.
This comment aged well-ish, seeing as how- AHEM SPOILERS Seeing as how Crow acts and speaks, especially in interactions with us the Guardian, I definitely see Cayde in him ;-;
To answer your last question to us; I would forgive him. He killed my friend, I killed him back, I later found out he had been corrupted by the Darkness and wasn't thinking entirely of his own will. But he's different now, debatabley someone else entirely. He isn't the man I killed. He's a Guardian, and now he has a second chance. And honestly, he could use a friend; he won't have many.
Well, we don't actually know if we killed him in that final scene when a gun shot went off the second we saw a black screen, or if it was Petra. Byf mentions that in the video. For all we really know it could have been Petra that killed him when we couldn't. Not saying it isn't possible for us to kill him, we just don't know.
@@themajesticspider-man6116 I think we did. It was the same gunshot sound as the Ace, same as when Uldren killed Cayde. At first our Guardian second guessed our cause after Uldren asked us what Cayde would do, then we see our resolve harden, square up the sights, screen goes black. Then the unmistakable thunder of the Ace of Spades.
@@thedefenestrator2994 Then why would Bungie make the screen go black to make us think about who could have shot him? It would be pointless, would it not? That is why I stand by what I said. Also, Petra could have yanked the Ace of Spades from us for hesitating, and shot Uldren with it herself.
@@themajesticspider-man6116 I still feel like that's all too speculative. Cut to black is a common use in film for dramatic effect, not as a literal pulling of blinds to cover up a switchthat really doesn't make much sense, considering the whole story was about us and Uldren. There's just more evidence that points to the Guardian pulling the trigger than anyone.
As a Hunter main, I would like to ask: What is wrong with Hunter Vanguard we have now? I have visited the tower as often as everyone and I say the Colonel has done a wonderful job as new Vanguard mentor. She has already proven herself a useful ally by pulling and kitting Cabal during the red war. No nonsense from her. No annoying opening lines filled with self pity. All she needs is good bounty list and we are set. (And hey I would rather have a chicken than annoying prince Uldren. Did not hate him. Still don't. But really think he is just annoying. Won't be leveling if i have to hear him everyday. The only thing I do hate is the "meatball" boss fill in for the ending that Bungie gave us - after all the build up).
Not gonna lie - the meatball tag-match actually made sense. It's the sole reason i was willing to put up with the complicated and unclear process of getting access into the dreaming city, because it set up a mystery to explore. Simply shooting Uldren in the head and him having been completely malicious of his own will wouldve been SUCH a boring revenge story with no possible way to continue it further.
Uldren cant be a hunter vanguard he is green and fresh he needs to be trakned first before he can train anyone. And caydes dare is still up in the wind. No one knows who he did the dare with before he went to the prison of elders. EV hunter armor suggests the players hunter. But i wouldnt think so.
Oooooooooooh!!!!! YES THE GUARDIAN SLAYER PUT HIM DOWN YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSS!! Zavala is next for not wanting vengance
I mean, Uldren is a new person now, as Byf explains when someone comes back as guardians they don't have a clue about who they are. Maybe he's to redeem himself
oxymoron224 that’ll be pretty darn good storytelling. That question at first was directed at us but now if he gets to be vanguard he’ll just ask himself
Have you seen that old footage from destiny 1 reveal that was cut that showed Uldren in the cosmodrome? The footage shows him pointing a gun at our guardian and asking why the entire city is “breathing down his neck” I feel like this fits perfectly into whatever story they might go with

There is this extremely old cutscene from before Destiny 1. In it we see Uldren in the Cosmadrome holding a gun to the guardian. Ghost says; we're here to talk. He replies; Out here, this is how we talk. I think we're going to finally get this missing cutscene.
Can we also all appreciate the little shimmy Pulled Pork does after he scans Uldren? I'm super excited for this twist and hoping for a redemption arc. Happy that a snarky angstmuffin was found by a little bundle of positivity.
Archie the Bat I feel like everybody is overlooking that, he was driven insane with grief and was pressured by Riven to do things he never would do. But everybody is dead set on uldren doing this by his own free will.
Everyone is thinking about how Zavala and Ikora are going to react. 10$ says Shaxx just goes apeshit on him, snaps off his other horn to stab the ghost before FoH'ing Uldren into dust.
@@GonAdventures You seem to forget that shaxx is a veteran, older AND much, much stronger than any vanguard in the longest time. Zavala and Ikora are Mentors, but shaxx is a Lord. As old as saladbowl and the rest of the iron lords. Twilight gap, most wars, etc all had shaxx there
Zavala told us, that, when we killed Uldren, the day would come when those actions had consequences. But consequences isn't always a bad thing. This guardian who just got resurrected with hate on almost every side, who knows nothing of his past or what he did or didn't do. This guardian shouldn't be linked to Uldren. Just like how we shouldn't be linked to whoever died in the cosmodrome all that time ago. This guardian doesn't deserve any of our hate, even if he wears the face of a murderer. And Agu said it herself "Who knows, maybe [Pulled Pork] will get lucky and find the greatest guardian of all time" for all we know, Uldren will be the next legendary vanguard to be remembered for millennia.
Emotional Potion funny enough the part before the pulled pork quote I ended up hearing in Zavala’s voice in my head lol. I would not be surprised if either him or Ikora say something very similar to that.
Connor Mac or Nathan Fillion so Cayde can live on in some way passed Forsaken and into the next game because I doubt they will allow us to port the Ace of Spades into the next installment.
Hero Mania Not if his Ghost is shot by a Weapon of Sorrow. It’ll end up like Sundance (Cayde’s Ghost), with pieces it’s shell being shattered. Weapons of Sorrow are an extremely powerful weapons that Guardians using them must be aware of
I finished Forsaken a couple of weeks ago, then went to do the Oracle Offering and watched the cutscene and I felt mixed emotions. Forsaken was so fresh in my mind and in my heart, I felt so much anger when I saw Uldren alive, but at the same time I was amazed. Bungie nailed it with this plot twist. I hated Uldren and what he did, but I also understand he wasn't really himself when he killed Cayde, but I would lie if I said I didn't feel relief when I heard that gunshot at the end of Forsaken. Yet, I'm fascinated by that character and I'm glad Bungie decided to bring him back because they can do so much with him and I can't wait to see what they have in store for us. It's hard to see him again, but if the new Uldren has a chance to be a good person and redeem himself, I'm willing to give him that chance. If he ends up been evil, I will spend eternity killing him over and over again (sorry, Pulled Pork, you'll have a lot of work to do) Before I end this comment, I justst wanted to mention that I started playing Destiny 2 only 3 months ago. I never playing Destiny 1 (I'm planning to start it next year) but I love this universe and I've felt in love with all of the characters and their stories, and I felt in love with Cayde right away since the very first cutscene at the start of the game. I didn't know anything about the game and yet my first character was a Hunter Exo, like some part of me was connected with Cayde since the beginning without me knowing about it. Sadly, I started playing D2 after Forsaken was released, so I never got a chance to explore Cayde's part in the Vanguard in D2, but I enjoyed every little moment that he gave me, and still replay his heroic missions whenever they pop up in the Vanguard. Sorry for the long comment. I needed to let it out. If anyone read the whole thing, thank you!
If i saw him I'd ultimately tell him this: "Get in nerd, we got taken to kill, hive to slaughter, and fat space turtles to kick out of our system brother."
so your telling me “pulled pork,” receives a reef shell as a gift, not mentioning from who. and then the cut scene where our ghost tells Mara that her brother did everything he did to honor her, and she seems to have predicted his death, and yet we are not suppose to think that him being revived is part of her plan? come on
Honestly coming from the future, they called it. Mara basically says as much during season of the Lost. Somehow she knew he had it in him to be resurrected. She planned to scoop him up and use him as her pet guardian. Didn’t quite work
I never really hated Uldren. Even when he killed Cayde to me it was just tragic. Here you have a powerful Awoken, brother to the Immortal Mara Sov being pushed and prodded by a cursed Ahamkara. His loyalty to his sister and his people was warped and twisted into setting this grand plan in motion. This is going to be a very interesting storyline especially since he also kinda has to take over as the hunter vanguard via the Vanguard hunter dare kerfuffle. Have to say Destiny is looking mighty juicy with characters like Uldren and Misraaks being fleshed out and hopefully expanded upon in the future.
So on the Dare, I think Uldrin won't be the new Vanguard, or at least not at first. Him being a brand new Guardian, he has a whole lot he knows nothing of, plus if he never actually gets to go out and be a hunter, how can he lead his fellows? More than likely he'll spend some unspecified amount of time roaming and all that, with someone more experienced taking the mantle in his place until he's actually qualified.
I think byf idea would be great if that he would be an important character in the next bigger expansion that he maybe proof himself worthy. And honestly i didn't liked him but now he is a different guy can't wait how this goes on well done bungie well done
Fun fact that I can finally mention that this cut scene is now officially in game. If you read the lore tab for the Dreaming City rocket launcher Sleepless, Sjurn actually had a dream/vision involving Uldren that hinted at his return. I'll leave the tab below but if the events mentioned do come to pass then we're defiantly in for some cool stuff. Sleepless "I see our path ahead, full of despair and hardship, and I will walk it with joy in my heart." -Sjur Eido Sjur snorts and coughs as she wakes herself up from a sound sleep. "You were drooling," Mara says. She's perched in a divan nearby. There are books open all around her. She has dog-eared dozens of pages. "I was dreaming," Sjur says, wiping her mouth off with the back of her hand. "I saw you on a great black triangle. You split it in two with your bare hands." "Mm." "And I was dead, I think." She cracks her neck with a deliciously loud pop. "Or… trapped? Like in a maze. But pretty close to figuring my way out." "Mhm." Sjur stands up to stretch. She does not mind that Mara is not listening. Let her read. "And there was another woman with you." "On the triangle," Mara murmurs. "Mm. Yeah. She was helping. Then your brother showed up, and…" She shakes out her arms, frowning thoughtfully. The dream is already fading. "He said, 'Tropaea.' Or maybe it was, uh, 'Tropical.' Anyway.
You guys are missing the “Trianlge Part” and or if you’re not the Sleepless rocket launcher is pretty much painting the future. Holy shit this game is getting better and better with its attempt at the story.
I read lore about Eris recalled her life previous. Was a woman who froze to death swimming in a cold ass river. '"Is it you?" -Truth to Power' is my reference
''this could be a great way of giving uldren a redemption arc, maybe he will help us against the darkness or maybe against savathunn'' me who is watching this video because it got recomended and is just going to start playing the Season of The Hunt: uhhhh ... This man predicted the future
I felt bitter when Cayde died, hit me a bit harder than I thought it would. But when I listened to Uldren's chats with the false Mara, I started feeling different about my anger. The last mission didn't help, with his doubt about opening the gateway. At the end of the campaign, when I saw his broken self, I wanted him dead... But out of mercy. Truth be told, I saw a bit of myself in him. Sounds cheesy and many won't agree with my statement... But dammit I didn't want to kill him over the death of Cayde after seeing the shit Riven did. My focus on Riven tripled. I wanted her gone. I wanted all Ahamkara gone since the theory about them being related to the Worm Gods because I don't want to believe something so absurd to me (says the guy who thinks the Nine are agents of the Deep working to destroy us). Now I wanted them gone because of this. Riven deserved so much more than what we did. I'm fine with Uldren being back. It's a chance for redemption not many get. Plus, now that he has the Light, he's effectively removed from the cycle. We've cracked it, now we must exploit that and BREAK IT.
Promethean, Archival Mind Haven’t there been bad Guardians? Plus, I have a feeling the new ‘Uldren’ is going to be ‘The Crow’ from pre-D1 cutscene who might not be part of the Tower but as an outcasted Guardian
@@Zack_Zander I mean there were bad guardians. Before the era of guardians. The warlords and such. I mean look at Drifter too. But still. He could both the pre d1 Crow and he can be the new Crow. Being part of the vanguard but having a different understanding on things due to his personality. He is a natural leader really. And we know risen retain their life skills but not their memories. So he can still be a vanguard who doesn't follow the traveler blindly, but still has his motivation to do right. I mean realistically, he is finally free of Mara and his desire to make her surprised. It IS something he wanted. To shock her once, to gain her approval. He is finally free from being his sister's brother.
Promethean, I echo your sentiments. I found myself so attached to the character of Cayde-6, I looked forward to every interaction with him. Even replaying story missions just for the feeling of adventuring with him again. Part of this is most likely due to my obsession with the original voice acting of Nathon Fillion (also a huge fan of Nolan North, not taking anything away from his work as Cayde-6) paired with my love of Mal Reynolds and Firefly. I switched mains to Hunter to keep Cayde's spirit alive (so to speak), I've never taken the Memory of Cayde cloak off my hunter, possibly to the detriment of my resources and light level. It's a deeply personal fan journey that seems really silly but makes me enjoy playing the game more. The sadness and loss adds an element that helps me push through the awful time-gated content and frustrating amount of grinding. Uldren's culpability in all of the goings on weren't originally from an "evil" place. Seems like a person who found the road to hell is, in actuality, paved with "good" intentions. I, too, found myself identifying with the character a bit. I'm excited to see where this goes and all of the questions Byf raises being answered. Eyes up, Guardian.
I was conficted to begin with, at first I was like lets kill this d**k, then by the time we get to him I felt sorry for him. He lost his sister, corrupted by the darkness and was manipulated into horrible acts
@lgd661 I don't see them doing that, because of two reasons, one: That's a huge step down, and move around lore wise that cracks everything, though I can see him LEARNING about who he is and what he's done in the past. And two: We need reason not to kill him on sight, and having him as a fellow guardian just about does it.
My reaction at the end of Forsaken was sadness. Seeing Uldren returned as Guardian: laughter at the ludicrous irony & absurdity of it all. But I'm still keeping the Ace of Spades, because I shot him.
Well if uldren becomes the new hunter vanguard you have to give ace of spades to uldren coz uldren killed cayde and uldren will have to follow the vanguard dare
It seems like a lot of people are glancing over the end of Pulled Pork’s card. At the end, it says “shoot, he might find the greatest Guardian of all time.” I believe this was put there on purpose, to foreshadow Uldren’s importance. I believe he will be a major factor towards the war with the Darkness. On top of that, it would fulfill Destiny’s original vision of Uldren before the story was scrapped for a new one. In that original story, Uldren was the Crow, who played an important role in trying to steer us away from blindly trusting the Traveler.
in order to become the greatest guardian of all time he'd need to kill god knows how many gods lol, because there's currently one guardian who ended wars and slayed deities on their own, which is us
@@ermutanda3802 it sounds like you're describing this using sword logic. following that, I'd say he'll be considered a great for being able to take down Cayde
@@ermutanda3802 amico il tuo nome è leggenda. But you have to consider that unlike in warcraft there is no single hero that does everything. Most of everything else was always a fireteam
@@checkmate1860 Yeah Riven's death is canonically established in even loretabs as 6 guardians. Sure THE guardian was probably among them since we are all THE guardian in our story. But he/she brought a team. 6 people slew riven. But anything else before that in d2 was one guardian. And from Eva we also know that a lot of guardians are dealing with spider now, even though it was only supposed to tbe the one guardian meeting him in forsaken. And in the lore books I think there are multiple god slayers in references. Not just one.

Phillip Garney In my opinion, him starting out as The Crow without any memory of him being Prince Uldren would be interesting. I doubt that he would arrived at the tower right away and I don’t believe that he would do anything evil yet. Even though there is no chance that the Hive Taken or Scorn would be on his side, there are still the Fallen on Earth. And that was where we were suppose to meet The Crow... In the Old Cosmodrome
I know this is a month late, but Prince Uldren was known as "The Master of Crows" due to the reefs covert intelligence service he commanded, I think him being "The Crow" in the beta is an offshoot of his later title.
Uldran: Hey guys. I'm the new guy. *every Guardian pulls out their guns* Uldran:...ummmmmm-- Hunter: Wait! He killed Cayde, right? Ikora: Yeah. Your point? Hunter:...he's Uldran no more. He's the new Hunter Vanguard! *all Hunters cheer* Zavala:...did i miss something?
“Reader” *just reading random comments* finds this one “ hmm okay where’s this one gonna go” yes yes yes kill him!!!!” *continues reading* *busts out laughing* “ yes yes THE VANGUARD DARE! the absolute perfect punishment”
I think most Guardians would rather give him a broom and tell him to join the sweeping robot, when he's not being used for target practice in the crucible. I think the major hurdle for Uldren becoming the next Hunter Vanguard aside from the fact that everyone is going to be hating his guts is that he will be very fresh with little to no experience as a guardian hunter. This whole discussion of past lives does beg the question of our Guardian's own past. Were we like Uldren before we were resurrected? Will there be people or records who could shed light into what we were before our ghost found us?
It's a quiet, dimming afternoon in the tower..a trans-mat effect fires off nearby, and a next guardian stumbles into the main landing zone. Carelessly guardians hustle and bustle from place to place, collecting post-master Items, screaming at a blue bastard, dancing while cloaked in red energy. This new hunter glances around, an alien world of life. Of light. Small things click in his head but nothing concrete, nothing to really identify why this place sorta makes him uneasy. After a few moments of silent gawking, the formerly reef-blooded awoken reaches up and slips off his mask and torn bandanna..and there is a chorus of guns cocking from all directions. Weapons oozing with the fury of a thousand spent rounds waiting to land one last between his eyes. "...not the warm welcome I gave you the pep talk about, but ah..show them what you can do?" ..the little light, his only friend, his newest friend, chirped from his 'backpack' In one fluid motion the new-found gunslinger pivots, bends his knees, and...well, you know the rest. A golden gun can start one hell'va party. ( -Ball room Blitz, by The Sweet begins to play- )
I can’t wait there to see ikora’s reaction when she sees him step into the tower..Her rage will probably worse than shaxx (during the moments he’s shouting at the concentrating tower people to *RELAX!!!*)
Titan: "I don't know what I might do. Cayde was a dear friend to all of us and Uldren pulled the trigger, but his actions were not his own. They were Riven's. I just...don't know." Warlock: "I wasn't that close to Cayde, but that didn't stop me from being upset over his death. Not upset enough to hunt Uldren down, but enough to feel a piece of the tower is gone." Hunter: "If that bastard comes anywhere near me he is going to get two golden gun shots on him. One for his ghost. One for his head."
Uldren Speculation in 2018: How will we ever forgive him? Crow Appreciation in 2021: IF ANYBODY TOUCHES MY SWEET BOY THEY WILL BE SEPARATED FROM THEIR ARM!
There's something else that's confusing me. In the prodigal armour set lore, an awoken talks about a 'new player on the field' that calls himself 'crow', and that as if it was rubbing the death of uldren in their faces. Is it talking about when uldren went missing in the taken war, or did this lore foreshadow the plot twist?
In the Prodigal cloak, it says: "It's from 'Paladin Oran.' 'Use less data, route electron notices forward over Uranus-Neptune divide." -Paladin Hallam Fen Paladin Oran is the name Petra used before sending secret messages. Read the first letter of each word. "Uldren Found"
Incoming destiny 2 cutscene: Uldren gets dropped off in the tower plaza, guardians start to gather, murmuring things to each other. Zavala and Ikora arrive, see Uldren, and lose it. They advance on uldren, he begins to retreat in fear, trips, falls, braces for the incoming death... Then looks up, and sees our guardian, standing between him and his would be killers. Us glaring at zavala and ikora, and them glaring at us. But not willing to try and get past us. Slowly the crowd dissipates, zavala and ikora the last to go. Our guardian then turns to uldren, helps him up, and says: "Come with us" as our own ghost appears by our side. "We have a lot to talk about..."
Id actually really like to work with guardian Uldren. There are so many possibilities on what may happen that I am excitingly looking forward to what will happen next.
I mean he literally wouldnt make sense as anything else but a hunter. And by those rules he fulfills cayde's dare. And why cant he be the vanguard? No sane hunter wants that job, the dare exists to force them into it. They belong in the wild, they sre adrenalin junkies living for the biggest loot, best shot and the wittiest story to tell. They hate being stationary. Cayde hated being stuck in the tower, and according to him even Andal got weary after a while. So Uldren by all means can relieve every other hunter of the fear of being forced into the most dreaded position of their class. The vanguard is not the highest position for a hunter. Its the worst job they could ever have. So he can have it.
@@pcrassen4975 i understand what your saying but he killed Cayde 6 and everyone like him no one will listen to Uldren plus if he does become hunter vanguard then ok but im sure that everyone will kill him the moment we all see him
CodCoolerYT he can’t be the Hunter Vanguard though...first, he wasn’t a Hunter or even a Guardian when he killed Cayde, so the Dare doesn’t apply to him. Second, he a brand new Guardian. No memories, no experience, no name. He’s a newborn child in a man’s body. To make him the Hunter Vanguard is really stupid.
Guys, I think we're all forgetting something. Uldren Sov IS dead. Our Guardian and Petra killed him and our vengeance was carried out, everything that Uldren was and whatever he did in the past are now... gone. Lost to the ages. Because who we have now is a newly awoken Guardian with no name to call his own, little-to-no friends in this galaxy and seemingly the entire cosmos is out for his blood because of the deeds of a dead man for whom everyone claims him to be. Hot damn, I am seriously excited to see where this goes and the emotional shitstorm of rage, shock and bewilderment this will inevitably bring!
He will find out his name and past though, everyone knows and hates him, his sister will bring him back up to speed and a more likeable guardian version of Uldren Sov will be born.
Jack Healy I’m calling it now, Uldren Sov is going to be an outcasted Guardian who is called the Crow... However... it is possible that he could become the Hunter Vanguard in the future...
Nate Barcum I’ve just always called him North, after the name of the voice actor, and because he acts like a little compass. Always telling me where to go.
I think Mara met with ghosts without a guardian ‘my next audience would find the presence of the traveler’s chosen... disrespectful’ Next thing you know pulled pork resurrects her brother with a gifted reef shell. Coincidence?
In here court I saw that tetrahedron triangle ship on is table , not that building . But if that's the case she left us a clue . Because that was the last image on her table . Meaning our fifth enemy is probably the architects
Despite popular opinion, I think Uldren's completely innocent. He was being mind controlled. He doesn't deserve the hate. Any guardian could've been the target, meaning any guardian could've killed Cayde.
@@allrequiredfields I will agree that manipulation & mind control are two different things though that changes nothing. Although, there isn't a difference between being manipulated and "controlled" my friend. If you're being manipulated by someone into doing something, are you at fault? Does that person not have a level of control over your actions? My point being that any guardian could've been manipulated by a Taken God, some more vulnerable than others, though Uldren just so happened to be the victim.
@RadTheLad Yes, he was just manipulated, but by an Ahamkara with very powerful deception and reality-magic. Riven sensed his desire to bring back his sister, and fed on that desire. If Riven had just been an Ahamkara through, that would have been less destructive, but she was tainted and controlled by the darkness itself, which is why Uldren's actions were so destructive and harmful.

One of the thoughts running through my head is this: There is nothing except circumstance that makes guardians into the heroes we are. In Destiny 1, when we are first brought back by our Ghost, we are immediately thrust into the war between light and dark, and the city we protect propels us into the role of hero. Yet in the dark ages after the collapse, Guardians were nothing more than warlords fighting each other over territory until one man made a decision to unify the light bearers into what we are now. And this says nothing of what Guardians may have been in their past lives. For all we know, the Guardian may have been a mass murderer, a thug, or a coward before the light found him. Who is to say that Uldren cannot have redemption, and who better to help him on his way that the Vanguard themselves? (Or, in another light, who better to keep a close watch on Uldren than his supposed new fireteam and the Guardian?) For some of the reasons Byf brings up, I think it would be interesting and beneficial to the story for Uldren to be made the Hunter Vanguard, even if I hate his past life. It would very much help the character development of the rest of the Vanguard and others at the tower, and help us see the process of what a new Guardian goes through (told by someone who can speak).
Ghost: “He killed our friend..” Mara Sov: “Yes. I’m sure you miss it.” Me: *points a Garden Progeny 1 at Mara Sov, brimming with unbridled rage* “I will rip out your fucking jugular and feed it to you if you ever call Cayde an ‘it’ again. Cayde was a good man and he deserves to be remembered and referred to as such.”
We were all memory-less, friendless, aimless guardians once. We've had our revenge. I think this is a true test of guardians holding up our fellow guardians. Even if they were once our enemies. As much as I hate Uldren, it puts a heavy weight on my heart that he's so alone now. I hope we get the chance to help him. I hope that he gets set on a good and just path before he learns who he was. I hope he becomes a great guardian.
As a hunter main and someone who has been waiting for this since the video leaked, I’ve gotta say that I’m okay with Uldren being next vanguard. And if he needs someone to show him the ropes or simply watch his back from hateful glares, then I’ll give him that chance. I think that there’s a good man in there and always has been, but his devotion and stigmas made him cold and disdainful. But now, I think he has a chance to be better, and I will totally back any redemption ark Bungie gives him. I can’t wait!
You're lucky. I was in a party with my friends and one of them just goes "Hey, did you see that cutscene where Uldren got revived?" and I screamed WHAT
When you come back to the tower after completeing the forsaken campaign and speak to Zavala he says in another life he may have been the one to hunt down Uldren. So it wouldnt suprise me to see Zavala lose his cool and attack Uldren when he enters the tower.
@@morganpriest7726 If only Zavala were a Striker instead of a Sentinel... Can you just picture a Striker ult hurtling its way across the courtyard? Sentinel can just go all Captain America on his ass.
Yeah, I do see one vanguard being the one embodying the rage of the public against Uldren, whereas the other would be "That guy isn't even Uldren anymore. He's just a poor man who happens to have the body of the most hated man in the Solar System." I can see Zavala and Ikora being both, likely just depends on how strong a relationship Ikora had with Cayde and how much would Uldren coming back would blind her rational thought. Although I do see, either way, the other reminding the angry one of the point above.
No... Ikora said in CoO that she had many teachers since the Red War, and she feels like she has learned new things about herself... She will not break because she has grieved for Cayde. But Zavala will break due to his belief about Guardians not being allowed to investigate their past life. He will have to let go of the fact that Uldren is not Uldren, he is now a Guardian, and he has to look at this man in a different way. But I feel like he wont be able too, and he will break.
The last time I was this early, UA-cam was better at processing video quickly so it wasn't in 360p. I was wondering when you'd do this video, Byf! Looking forward to watching this one.

"Cayde's role in The Taken King was originally possessed by Uldren Sov in the original story of Destiny. Cayde's personality is how Sov would have been portrayed."
This is straight out from the destiny wiki, and I'm speculating that Bungie wanted to give the Cayde-ish Uldren Sov version a shot, its just a shame that they had to kill off Cayde for this.
Just imagine if we got two carefree, sarcastic hunters being best friends or rivals. That could've spiced up Destiny 2's character roster in terms of personality a bit more.
Haha pulled pork
This comment aged well-ish, seeing as how-
AHEM SPOILERS
Seeing as how Crow acts and speaks, especially in interactions with us the Guardian, I definitely see Cayde in him ;-;
To answer your last question to us; I would forgive him.
The Defenestrator Well said well said indeed
It's the only Chicken to stand against the Red Army & Live
I love this comment
I prefer to think of the meatball as a riven mcnugget

Zavala told us, that, when we killed Uldren, the day would come when those actions had consequences.
But consequences isn't always a bad thing. This guardian who just got resurrected with hate on almost every side, who knows nothing of his past or what he did or didn't do.
If he ends up been evil, I will spend eternity killing him over and over again (sorry, Pulled Pork, you'll have a lot of work to do)

Sadly, I started playing D2 after Forsaken was released, so I never got a chance to explore Cayde's part in the Vanguard in D2, but I enjoyed every little moment that he gave me, and still replay his heroic missions whenever they pop up in the Vanguard.

More than likely he'll spend some unspecified amount of time roaming and all that, with someone more experienced taking the mantle in his place until he's actually qualified.

"You were drooling," Mara says. She's perched in a divan nearby. There are books open all around her. She has dog-eared dozens of pages.
"I was dreaming," Sjur says, wiping her mouth off with the back of her hand. "I saw you on a great black triangle. You split it in two with your bare hands."
"Mm."
"And I was dead, I think." She cracks her neck with a deliciously loud pop. "Or… trapped? Like in a maze. But pretty close to figuring my way out."
"Mhm."
Sjur stands up to stretch. She does not mind that Mara is not listening. Let her read. "And there was another woman with you."
"On the triangle," Mara murmurs.
"Mm. Yeah. She was helping. Then your brother showed up, and…" She shakes out her arms, frowning thoughtfully. The dream is already fading. "He said, 'Tropaea.' Or maybe it was, uh, 'Tropical.' Anyway.
Other woman is Savathun
@@philm9863 No, it was definitely Petra
You guys are missing the “Trianlge Part” and or if you’re not the Sleepless rocket launcher is pretty much painting the future. Holy shit this game is getting better and better with its attempt at the story.
Tropaea is Plural of tropaeum which is ancient Greek for Victory.
I read lore about Eris recalled her life previous. Was a woman who froze to death swimming in a cold ass river.

''this could be a great way of giving uldren a redemption arc, maybe he will help us against the darkness or maybe against savathunn''
me who is watching this video because it got recomended and is just going to start playing the Season of The Hunt: uhhhh ...
Promethean, Archival Mind
Haven’t there been bad Guardians?
Love your music man!
also note riven wasnt bad either... it was the taken / darkness that youre pissed at.
If Uldren could remember I wouldn't even hesitate, but with his memories gone I don't know.
Well done indeed Bungie, well done
I was conficted to begin with, at first I was like lets kill this d**k, then by the time we get to him I felt sorry for him. He lost his sister, corrupted by the darkness and was manipulated into horrible acts
can we kill him one more time just for fun. no harm done if he can be revived.
Chris Gerhardt I'm still not he's shot on sight. Him and his ghost. I have. A golden gun with his name on it
Seems more like mara is going to guide him and inform him on what he needs to know?
My reaction at the end of Forsaken was sadness. Seeing Uldren returned as Guardian: laughter at the ludicrous irony & absurdity of it all.
But I'm still keeping the Ace of Spades, because I shot him.
Well if uldren becomes the new hunter vanguard you have to give ace of spades to uldren coz uldren killed cayde and uldren will have to follow the vanguard dare
kashaan Ali siddqui nah fam I’m holding onto it
It seems like a lot of people are glancing over the end of Pulled Pork’s card.

Uldren should be barred from the Crucible for his own safety at bare minimum.
That would be a funny detail to have. Just overhear it from some NPCs in the Tower.
He would be attacked so hard he would return to the title screen

I wonder if Uldren will become the character who we know as ‘The Crow’ during the beta cutscene.
Now that's what i call coming full circle.
Phillip Garney
In my opinion, him starting out as The Crow without any memory of him being Prince Uldren would be interesting.
Phillip Garney
Well *sh*t*
Now that Bungie is free from Activision’s grasp, I can definitely see Uldren becoming The Crow
I know this is a month late, but Prince Uldren was known as "The Master of Crows" due to the reefs covert intelligence service he commanded, I think him being "The Crow" in the beta is an offshoot of his later title.
Watching this in the game was kinda surreal not gonna lie
Zavala did have the line that he would've killed Uldren himself given the chance. I can see him freaking out about this.
He is either going to chicken out, or annialate him. Either way it'll be hilarious.

Zavala:...did i miss something?
Also Zavala: *sees Uldren*

I think most Guardians would rather give him a broom and tell him to join the sweeping robot, when he's not being used for target practice in the crucible. I think the major hurdle for Uldren becoming the next Hunter Vanguard aside from the fact that everyone is going to be hating his guts is that he will be very fresh with little to no experience as a guardian hunter. This whole discussion of past lives does beg the question of our Guardian's own past. Were we like Uldren before we were resurrected? Will there be people or records who could shed light into what we were before our ghost found us?
Man, crow is really becoming what you speculated he might be Byf. It's crazy to see and I personally love his character
"...not the warm welcome I gave you the pep talk about, but ah..show them what you can do?" ..the little light, his only friend, his newest friend, chirped from his 'backpack'

In the prodigal armour set lore, an awoken talks about a 'new player on the field' that calls himself 'crow', and that as if it was rubbing the death of uldren in their faces. Is it talking about when uldren went missing in the taken war, or did this lore foreshadow the plot twist?

Then looks up, and sees our guardian, standing between him and his would be killers. Us glaring at zavala and ikora, and them glaring at us. But not willing to try and get past us.
Slowly the crowd dissipates, zavala and ikora the last to go. Our guardian then turns to uldren, helps him up, and says:
"Come with us" as our own ghost appears by our side.
"We have a lot to talk about..."
Then we take uldren by the colonel and whip out our ace of spades and hit it on him

I swear to god if he becomes the new hunter vanguard.

I will delete my Hunter if that happens and make a 2nd Warlock.
Guys, I think we're all forgetting something.
Uldren Sov IS dead. Our Guardian and Petra killed him and our vengeance was carried out, everything that Uldren was and whatever he did in the past are now... gone. Lost to the ages. Pulled POOOOORK, you got some 'splainin to do.
(Or, in another light, who better to keep a close watch on Uldren than his supposed new fireteam and the Guardian?)
For some of the reasons Byf brings up, I think it would be interesting and beneficial to the story for Uldren to be made the Hunter Vanguard, even if I hate his past life. It would very much help the character development of the rest of the Vanguard and others at the tower, and help us see the process of what a new Guardian goes through (told by someone who can speak).
