This is without a doubt the most stable lineup to date.. And I think it will go on to outlive the rest.. All the guys are on the same Megadeth page...
Ellefson could have been there.. But stupid decisions in his personal life and an obsession with bigger and bigger cuts of the Megadeth pie whilst being distracted with endless side projects has seen him squander his place. I assure you LoMenzo will not. He did a great job during 06-10 and will probably do an even better job now he has Dirk and Kiko.. I sense that James has a real creative relationship with them both already and likes being around them and this lineup..
I don't think its meant to be a dig at Shawn, Glen and Chris.. But its no secret that they didn't have the star power or the 'creative' talent to last.. I believe he actually left because the environment with Shawn and Chris got frosty and they were pressuring Mustaine to get Ellefson back and when James got wind of it he just stepped down.. Not at any request to do so.. Just didn't feel wanted thanks to Shawn and Chris.. Not Mustaine. But now he has two guys he can really musically bond with jam with and chill with and he's enjoying it.. He is enjoying his craft on stage because he is doing it with people he has a good relationship with.. And thats the same for all of them.. Especially Dave.. Who I feel he really didn't and doesn't want to hurt Ellefson.. But was given little choice.. And Ellefson was making him miserable and the band environment miserable.. There has been hints at back stage arguments largely driven by Ellefsons grievances with his position and his lack of control, say and credits/royalties.. Just stuff thats not making the environment a healthy one and one of good intentions..
The reason Mustaine ended up not going back to the RIP lineup was because they were all obsessed with the money and having their ego stroked with cash and bigger cuts.. They weren't there for good creative reasons because they felt they had something to bring to it.. It was money.. And because of that it collapsed the talks each time.
Kiko and Dirk came in with the right intentions.. To bring something to Megadeth and become part of Megadeth to add something significant to the legacy of the band. I think both have done that and will continue to do that.. They feel as much members as Marty and Nick did in the 90s to me and will pass both of their time in the band as well.. So its exciting.. Megadeth has found its solid lineup and arguably its creatively best lineup since RIP.. And without a doubt more successful lineup than RIP now.. As this lineup has gotten two back to back number 3 albums in the US and just cracked a number of number 1s elsewhere in the world.

@somethingelse04 Yes, I know that Lomenzo replaced Ellefeson, and Chris Adler was replaced by Dirk. However, that doesn't change the fact that both of them didn't play on that album. Hence, they can't really be responsible for the success of it, as the person I was responding to was claiming. That's like giving Robert Trujillo credit for St.Anger, even though he didn't play on it. Perhaps you should take some of your own advice. 🤔

Regardless of Dave saying "I f##ked up" about what was a pretty harsh way to fire a band member, just remember this Dave, if that never happened, and probably in some weird way helped you with your struggles, we wouldn't have MEGADETH one of the big 4, one of the greatest thrash/metal band in the world. And let's not talk number's of album sale's, time spent as a band. Let's rather talk about a man who kicked cancer in the ass, has the most original vocals in metal, absolutely shreds on guitar, writes amazing lyrics, 61 years young and still gets on that stage and melts faces in every live show. I think everything happens for a reason, you're destiny wasn't to be a second fiddle to anyone else, you're destiny as it shows is and was to be the front man to one of the biggest metal band's in the world. And you did that, it was all you Dave, and you have amazing band member's. The world in metal needed you, you was the hero we never asked for but just is, a true fighter, a warrior if you will. A man who shows us what ever life throws at you, you can succeed. And man you've surpassed that. We love you Dave Mustaine, you are the inspiration to never give up..May you have many more years infront of you, and i sure can't wait to grab the new album. Countdown to extinction is still one of my favourite metal albums, the track Symphony of destruction is one of the greatest metal tracks I've ever heard, keep on keeping on, Because A WORLD NEEDS A HERO pun intended. 🤜🤛🤘🤟🫂

Absolutely, and Dave has stated many times that for him he is a better guitarist than Marty Friedman. Which i to think that's true, in many way's. And a man who stood by Dave when he was going threw chemotherapy and helped him on stage in a huge way, there's only a frew real special people in this world of metal, and Kiko is certainly one of them 🤟🤘

Where did i write that he doesn't? We all know Dave has an ego bigger than a planet, and often that's his downfall. That angry part of Dave comes from how Metallica fired him, and tbh i don't blame him for that because it was harsh, it was also harsh that kirk kept playing Daves solos that Dave wrote, and explicitly stated "don't play my music" but kirk did, and if that was me i would be pissed off to. I've followed Daves career since Metallica, and yer he's a loud mouth. Even Kerry King said he doesn't know why anyone could be in that band for 5 minutes lol, and he left the band after 3 tours i think. So yer no doubt Dave will say other wise because that's how dave is. I have no illusions on Dave as a person, he's arrogant the band megadeth IS Daves band and god help a band member to suggest Dave do anything different. But i don't live with Dave, nor do i socialise with him, but i admire his guitar abilities and writing abilities, there's also two sides to every argument. Lars still likes Dave, always has, and neither have had a bad thing to say about each other. If you watched the interview where Lars sat down with Dave and spoke about what happened Lars agreed that it was very harsh what they did to him, and regretted being apart of it. These days they are all friend's apart from kirk, but then kirk isn't a very nice guy either, resents the fact Dave is a better player, thus chose to steal his solos which by the way was no where near as good as Daves renditions of them. So yer Dave can be an asshole and very hard to work with. But he still makes great music. I've got the album The sick, the dying and the dead, and it's an amazing album, the tracks Life in hell, killing time, Night stalkers are absolute bangers.

Mustaine is far from it.. Guy is currently working on his 5th martial art with Brazilian Jujitsu.. You’ll find videos of him and the other band guys engaging in it out on the road.
Plus there are few at the age of 62 out there doing as many shows as he is.. Cancer takes a toll.. Many don’t survive it.. Mustaine beat it in a year with 72 blasts of intensive therapy.. No normal person can withstand that much.. Mustaine is a rare case.. His stubborn attitude and desire to fight won’t let him quit no matter the challenge ahead.. He’s an inspiration to us all.

@@jeffreymercado2082 He has said he wants to do another 10 years at least.. So around the 50th anniversary he will probably look at hanging up the guitar.. But due to the level of success the band is seeing right now and the fact he is topping achievements of the past I think it’s giving him even more energy..
But he has said in recent interviews that he does have to think about the end of the band and his active music career but that it’s still a little while out and as long as he enjoys playing and his band is as tight and fun to be with as it is now.. He will keep going.
I think we’ve got a good few more albums left from them yet.. I hope they get it up to 20 albums total.. So that would be another 4 more albums.. We’ll have to see.
Mustaine also said that they put ‘We’ll Be Back’ as the last song on the album for a reason.. To tell everyone.. We’ll be back. 😉
