It's actually amazing how Kirk is so addicted to a guitar, always with it, just getting on a stage from dressing room - with guitar, in a dressing room - with a guitar, after concert in a dressing room - with a guitar, giving an interviews - with a guitar, an example of a pure love haha
I think that really shows how genuine Kirk is if that makes sense. Like a lot of famous guitar players only play guitar at gigs cause they have to snd they have no interest.
Kirk himself said that guitar was really a good form of therapy to him when his dad would beat him and his mom, so he fell in love with it

Ppl who play instruments especially for a living have this ability to play an instrument and multi task and be aware of everything around them or hold a full conversation while playing. Hence able to play and sing at the same time.

I'm my opinion, Kirk was one of the most humble guitarists.
I love the montage going on as Kirk plays “Villanova Junction” by Hendrix. It’s just like in the Woodstock film where the music is playing in the background and they have that montage of all the carnage that went on at the festival. 🎶

When they played in Alaska the over head speaker blew up and caught fire, they paused the concert then came back out and tore it up...awe so awesome...
//At 1:25, Kirk recounts the 'Monsters of Rock' tour. Kingdom Come, Dokken, Metallica, Scorpions, and Van Halen. This was summer 1988. I saw them in Alpine Valley Wisconsin. By far, they stole the show. I'll never forget the scene when they played Creeping Death; absolute mayhem!!! Crowd went into a FRENZY! Sod flying, lawn chairs, inflatable doll.... From that moment on, as a 19 year old, I've never seen a band get a frenzy like that EVER. By the way, they took the stage in the afternoon. What a memory. Kirk is way cool!!!
I saw that show in Seattle. My daughter wears the shirt I bought from that show. Metallica destroyed the place. Blew away everyone else. Best part was that about 10,000 hard core head bangers were there for Metallica and knew what to expect. The rest of the stadium had their faces melted off \m/

I was living in Honolulu in 1988 when And justice was released, I remember buying the Cassette listening to Battery on the way down the Escalator in Ala Moana shopping center, I was 19, I remember later that year learning many of those covers.. I moved back to Cali after living there till Jan 2000 good times..😁

Lot of people criticising Kirk, yeah, I'd agree that his lead guitar playing has been poor for a while now, he did give us some good solos in the early days, but now way too much wah, phrasing and note choice uninspiring....but don't forget he goes stroke for stroke with James as a rhythm guitarist every night. He's still a good metal guitarist, even if his best leads are behind him.

I was there at the MoR @ the LA coliseum! I thought it was creeping death they were playing their first song when all mayhem broke loose! After the chairs were out of the way, everyone got the chance to move up closer to the stage. Metallica by far dominated the show! Half way of VH set, I was done, I've already seen the best band play. 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼
