THANK YOU so much for this. I've been going to the gym for 2 weeks now but only using the treadmill. The machines are so intimidating, especially when you aren't sure how to use them or adjust them. I finally started using them after watching your videos.
I totally feel the same way! Its really nice to be able to watch him adjust properly. I feel like I can be more successful with my weight/core workouts now! Thank you.
Thanks for putting these videos on here. i peeked in at Planet Fitness and so many machines, it made me feel intimidated so I walked on treadmill and left lol
That's what I did my first day. I knew how to use an elliptical so I just did that the whole time, but then I found these videos and I feel comfortable using a lot more machines now.
Franco Herrera yes that’s why I was intimidated at first. I didn’t want to read it in front of everybody. But later with these videos I joined and now I do it like nothing lol
Your videos have really helped me a lot in understanding how to use certain machine and overcoming beginners intimidation (especially for the person that works out alone). I just wanted to say thank you so much!! ❤
This is perfect, EXCEPT do not keep your knees above your feet, try to keep them in line with one another to remove as much force from the knees as possible. Great video
This is not perfect, far from it. He totally locked his knees in the demonstration. That will damage the knees in the long run tremendously. Very unsafe technique and failed to mention it.
I'm 62 years old so I sit further away and only use 80-85% range of motion to reduce strain on the knee joint. I can max it out at 400 lbs and I can do 105 straight reps. I'm not shitting you people 105! That is my last exercise in my workout and the extra cardio has produced incredible results. It revs up my metabolism and makes me feel like I'm in my 20s. When I first tried to see how many reps I could do in a row I did 50 and surprised myself. Then I kept adding until I reached 100 and now 105. My goal is 200 by May. Using the biggest muscles in your body like that is the best exercise in the world!
How much of your own body weight is added to that, if any? I injured myself with that, I maxed out the weight on the machine a while ago, and I had accidentally shifted my foot, which put the majority of the weight on the outside part of it, so I haven’t been able to walk for about a week, but im curious as to how much weight I actually lifted so when I heal, I can switch over to the plated leg press.
I've heard if you fully straighten your legs you can bend your knee backwards. I've been doing the full extension like in the video does anyone know of that's dangerous? I'm a little scarred by the video I saw of a guys leg going the wrong way at the knee.
I am here to say lockout your legs while warming up with like 1/2 the weight of your PR you can lock those legs out when you start getting heavy only do it when your gonna put it on the lock and don’t try holding the weight
What about positioning of the feet? I saw a trainer tell someone to position their feet by turning them out like a slight “v” shape at the top. Seems like that would strain your knees. I’m new at machine weight training so would you please comment. I don’t want to start off on the wrong foot. Pun intended😂 thank you.
When using this machine do you take into account a percentage of your upper body weight since your moving it as well as the chair and the stack. I'm a 325 guy pushing 12 reps of 330 on the machine plus a percentage of my body weight is there a formula to est what I'm really pushing?
If your feet are too close and the seat is too far back, you'll feel as though you're activating your back more than your quads. You want to be in a position where your calves are almost touching your quads when you start. Have your feet spread out a bit. You'll thank me later
I've always done some form of exercise and my father was a marathon runner but for the most part I'm just an average middle-aged truck driver in decent shape so take this for what it's worth. For my back, I prefer the sit down leg press where you sit down and the seat is almost on the floor and you put the weights on a rack. Hopefully you know what I'm talking about, they have them at every Planet Fitness. Now the bad thing is you'll have to bend over to move the weights on to the rack and I don't know if that will hurt your back but those leg presses seem to be the easiest on my back when actually performing the exercise. There's normally two seating positions and I like the seating position to be completely upright. If you can't move the weights on to the rack and have to use the machine like in the video, what has helped me is again if it's an option, make the seating as upright as possible and then I only use my legs. I don't use my hands to grab onto the side rails. Because what happens for me is that I then put all that strain into my arms, it goes up my shoulders and right back down my spine to my pelvic where the legs are trying to push upward so I don't use my arms and I only do what my legs can comfortably do without trying to use my upper body. In fact I just criss cross my arms across my chest. I also go for lower weights and focus on squatting as far down as I can as that seems to work my hamstrings and buttock a lot better then if I just go down to a 90 degree angle. However going down that far might be harder on your back so I would do like he said in the video which is go about 90 degrees. Again I'm just a truck driver but I'm just telling you what has seemed to allow me to work out my legs without hurting my lower back. Good luck.
This is exactly ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxUHHotQRjIQnfuxEeVotlkHVYWH0DXZoS what I needed to get some exercise while I'm stuck at my desk all day. It's just the right size. Only downsides are that the right oeddale unscrews itself while I use it and increasing the tension causes it to squeak while in use. Both are minor issues that aren't that important to me. So I give it 5 stars.
Everybody saying don’t lock your legs😂 if you’re not an idiot and using challenging but weight that you can CONTROL, locking out is fine. If you’re ego lifting the full weight stack then no shit u will get injured.
Brandon Ibeawuchi lmao nah just what’s your deadlift dose it match near a 1,000lbs or squat? Yea it’s good and all until “lifts 600lbs breaks all joints”

I almost did the same thing today, but I searched in youtube and I find these videos, very helpful,I used like 6 different machines in my first session

Yea thanks a damn lot. I started doing the leg press with one leg listening to you and let out the loudest fart ever from straining.
Cheniqua Brown that's not his problem or fault
They gonna set off the alarm. Lol 😁
Cool
@Maafa 1619 🤨🤨🤨
Lmao 😂 imagine if your fart set the alarm off. That’d be amazing.
Started doing lower body workouts and your videos helped figure out these machines. Thanks!
I have used your videos to learn my way around the gym. Thank you so much.
This is one of my favorite machines. I always feel the burn after using this one.
great video !!! i always watch youtube videos for motivation and this year i started my own fitness channel :)
I go to other gyms but these are still so useful for us newbies
Thank you so much for this! I am a beginner and have been watching your videos while I’m at PF 😭

This!

Excellent point. I also heard that you try and lift with your heals instead of your toes and that helps.

knees above your feet can emphasize the quads more though
@@remymane901 Quads won't matter so much if your knees are destroyed lol

We’ll go full range and that 400 will reduce by double.
Now try deeper and full range of motion gramps 😂 before you end up on an ego lifting compilation
BRO youre a KING for making these.
Very helpful!
Thanks. I couldn't figure out how to adjust it so I had to search for this video.
I know there’s a picture to show what muscles are being used but I mostly feel it on my quads
This machine is also excellent for a calf workouts.
What are the pros and cons of seated leg press vs linear leg press? Which is most effective?
Thanks bro

I literally just watched a video saying knees cant go past toes and here goes a planet fitness showing me that exact form
My dumbass had been doing it all wrong this whole time 😭 glad I ran into your video
I love that one, I did 5 sets of 100 reps. 🔥
Is this good for a beginner to build my legs?
No cap leg pressin be bussin yo
Would everyone agree this is like the leg press version of of the hack squat
Omg thanks i was pissed because i could not adjust it to be closer

Yeah, don't fully straighten / lock your knees. Can cause injury.
How much is the max
Please don't lock your knees...bound to cause knee pain.
i put all the plates and turn knob to 10.. but i wanna know whats the real weight im pushing on that thing,,,

How much of your own weight is factored in?
me too
Why are u locking your legs
Because it's obviously not heavy enough to snap them

Matt carter I've been wondering the same thing since my planet fitness just got this leg press.
I weigh 215 i use 320 on this but on the 45 angle leg press i can leg press 420

Is this machine safe to use with severe disk herniation if careful?
That would be a question for your doctor not the guy showing you how to use machines at Planet Fitness lol

Scott herman for the gym beginners at planet elementary school
Keep your leg at a 90 degree angle. He is pushing with his knees and never fully extend your legs

Don’t lock ur knees
When doing leg press (specially with a lot of weight) NEVER lock your knees, you always want to keep them slightly bent
Doesn't work for me. Legs are too long 🤦♂️
Adjust the seat…
Do NOT lock your knees
DO NOT extend your legs all the way locking your knees!!!
