SPOILERS!!!!!! Actually for the most part when stand users weren't being controlled by DIO or Yoshikages dad they weren't that bad, in fact Tonio (the stand user whos a chef in part 4) is really cool his stand can help you get rid of physical imperfections by eating delicious food, Yuya Fungami even though he tries to attack Josuke and the others at first isn't a bad guy after he decides to help Josuke, not to mention Okuyasu literally becomes Josukes best friend after fighting Josuke.
+Ookler Actually, when you think about it, that is almost a good stand. You can hug water, *any* kind of water, even the one in the human body, and potentially amplify the hug to any given strength, so you can crush your enemies to death.
Dio's stand looks like a diver. Also his awekening made Holly sick. He was underwater for 100 years, in other words: he's been down too long in the midnight sea. Gotta love the references.
Yeah pretty sure it was a tree, and any living thing can have a stand so yeah. Since the stand user has no actual mind in the same sense as we do anyone could use the ability to their advantage of they knew how as well.
Part 3 also has some of my favorite endings. Walk Like an Egyptian works well as the energetic beginning of the quest, showing off the tarot cards, and Last Train Home reminding us that the end is near, and nothing lasts forever
Clint Eastwoods gun point in Dirty Harry inspired Jotaros famous gun point gesture, which in returned inspired Clint Eastwood to do it again in real life. Comes full circle yo!
Dreamcast Spirit no just 2 greats. Joseph is his grandfather. Josephs father (George ) is his great grandfather. Jonathan is his great great grandfather.
Maybe it was because I was going through a really hard time in my life but I totally lost myself in Stardust Crusaders. I couldn’t stop watching it. The humor, the way the characters bonded and worked with each other, the humor, and the art kept me fully invested for the whole season. Jojo part 3 will stay with me forever
Goddamn i just got into Jojo very recently... And just seeing that picture of all of them instantly brought tears to my eyes. Such a fantastic series, and im glad it was as long as it was because man it was such a journey.
I loved Part 2 of Jojo, IMO Part 3 and 4 were the worst, especially part 3 and addition of stands... Ranking: P2 > P1 > P4 > P3. I hated how they suddenly made Old Jojo a completely useless character, basically a stand-in for Speed-o-wagon. Jojo wasn't a particularly strong hamon user, but he had wits, cunning/trickster skills on his side, and suddenly he lost it all for the sake of commentating. And bullshit deus ex machina wild new stand skills appears.
"With no offensive capabilities except that his stand can turn you into a child, oh, and that he has an axe." You say "except" as if that doesn't fall into offensive capabilities, when axe murdering in general is a very effective tactic, especially against children.
I'm calling it, we're gonna get a part 5 announcement as well as the part 4 J0J0niums on January 1 which will be the 30 year anniversary of J0J0's Bizarre Adventure
There was a part 5 teaser in one of the intros of part 4, and considering how big of a financial success part 4 was as a whole part 5 is literally guaranteed to happen.
A way to describe JoJo's: A story about a rich kid and an Italian punching his vampire brother with the sun, Which turns into a story about a Englishman and an Italian defeating 4 gods, one of which is the ultimate life form, Which turns into a story about 4 buff men, an edgy teen, and a dog beating up a vampire, Which turns into a story about a ghost asking a few teens to hunt down a serial killer, Which turns into a story about the son of said vampire wanting to become a GangStar, Which turns into a story about prisons, And that turns into a story about horse racers with steel balls that do things when you spin them, So yeah JoJo's is the most insane anime of all time. P.S. Jotaro is my favorite JoJo and I love parts 3,4, and 7 equally.
I want to like the anime but I can't. The over the topness kills me. Its like Yu Yu Hakasho meets One Punch Man meets Space Dandy. I hate melodrama too.
The thing I loved the most about part 3, is the stands started getting so Ludacris, every episode I was looking at every situation like " bruh that's probably an enemy stand "
I just started watching JoJos Part 1 yesterday. Glad to see you're continuing this series. Even though I'm gonna watch Stardust Crusaders no matter what, I still like to hear what you have to say about it.
What? Part 3 is great. Part 4 is the 'slice of life' aka filler trash series.Later on Araki's between fight slices of life become well done, but Part 4 has great stands, decent enough fights, and then just standard naruto/one piece style anime filler.
yeah, i guess you are right. but i just ended up skimming through the most "important" moments in stardust crusaders and watching the other episodes later. it really felt like a drag for me at times
You forgot to mention the part where Part 3's characters are super boring though. The only character with any memorable personality or development is Polnareff. Part 4 and onwards has much better character writing.
I think an amazing thing about the whole roadtrip feel of the part is the end credits song for the second half. Last train home really captures this feeling of quiet contemplation and nostalgia of looking back on a journey or event and remembering the things that you went through along the way. It's both a warm and melancholic feeling. Hence why I listen to the song periodically to this day mostly because of how it makes me feel.
I remember how when I finished Part 2, I watched the first episode of Stardust Crusaders, and couldn’t even get through it because of how much I hated Jotaro. I remember thinking “is Joseph, the clever trickster, really going to be replaced by this thug?” I actually put down JoJo’s for about a year before deciding that I would power through this arc. Needless to say, I got more hooked than ever, and the character of Jotaro Kujo stands (HA!) as one of my favorite characters in fiction.
I liked jotaro the first time he was introduced because i love anti heros protagonists. But Jotaro was not what i expected and i saw that in the second episode, he is a really good person but wants to act tough because he is a introverted and wanted people to leave him alone. He is not a anti hero, but even so i liked him.
I felt this way at the start of every part I've watched so far - at first I hated the brash nature of Joseph compared to how honest and honourable Jonathan was, then I hated how cold Jotaro was compared to how fun Joseph was, then I hated how naive and and irrational Josuke was compared to Jotaro's level-headedness and pragmatism. Each time around, I'd come to love the new JoJo by about 5-10 episodes in but there was always that hatred at the start
@@konkey-dong Thoughts on Giorno ? I think he gets a lot of unwarranted hate just because his character is more subtle and nuanced , he's my third favourite JoJo behind Johnny and Joseph
Here's a fun thing I've found out a few years ago. Final Fantasy 6 of all things has at least one blatant JoJo reference. When you go with Sabin to Duncan's House to learn his final blitz, Sabin and Duncan start sparring, basically jumping all over and doing Ora-Oras at each other. And when they stop and you learn Phantom Rush, Sabin and the rest of your current party strike a pose for the camera.
7:14 “no two stand battles feel the same” Mista: “does the same thing every fight and gets shot by himself everytime” I make fun of mista for a living basically
JJBA: Diamond is Unbreakable and Persona 4 - Both are the 4th parts of their respective sagas -Both are set on a small japanese town - Characters use physical manifestations of the soul (stands/personas) - The main villian is a serial killer - There's a character named josuke (yosuke) in both series - Both have a more colorful style than their predecesors
Persona part 4 based itself on jojo part 4, it should also be noted that both the persona games make a lot of tributes to the jojo series, but both franchises actually started up at the same time without knowing about the other. The idea developer for the Persona series and Araki had an interview together as persona 4 was in the works I believe, they both actually developed the idea almost at the same time without much influence from one side at the start. The first Persona games just used assets from previous Shin Megami Tensei games as well, they worked quite differently back then actually, but both sides actually ended up influencing the other over the years, Persona started taking the demons they had and started giving them very original designs like those found in jojo as an example, and I am pretty sure Araki is a big fan of the art that Kazuma Kaneko does for the series, and you start seeing slight nods here and there as you read jojo and play the persona games. Here is the interview btw :) dijeh.tumblr.com/post/56081922481/remember-that-one-araki-x-kaneko-interview-its
DecoyBlackMage hey thanks :) (there's also the fact that in part 3 and in the entire persona series they use the tarot cards to represnete stands/personas)
Diego Mendoza The shooting each other in the head is a direct reference to the start of part 3 as well :) The camera shots are actually quite similar in some of the promotional material and the cutscene. As for the tarot cards, well, megaten games have always been very into stuff like that actually, they have used the tarot since the first game, the big difference though is that Persona bases its powers on the persona theory by Carl Jung and jojo bases its stands more on Chi, mana or spiritual power, which itself has been a thing in Human history since before the written word.
DecoyBlackMage Could you point me to the " idea at same time part", because from what i know SC came 7 years before than Revelations: Persona, 5 or 4 if you count from the development
If you want to be generous you could say that Personas were started in 1994 with Shin Megami Tensei If...'s "Guardians" since they're very similar to Personas and both are MegaTen games. That still means Stardust Crusaders predates it, though. Even if If... did predate Part 3, that still doesn't work very well because Guardians are a far less stand-like than the later Personas. A Guardian is simply a guardian spirit (that awakens on the death/revival of the user) and not a reflection/manifestation of the soul of the user like Stands and Personas are. So I believe Kaneko perhaps came up with the idea for the Guardians co-currently and they are their own original thing separate from Stands, but they became Stands later on with Persona.
Huh... it's strange that you feel the consequences of the last arc to be negative. You do realize the same thing happens in both Jojo Pt 1 and 2. Every major fight has consequences and not everybody makes it out alive. That's why the final fights feel so heavy with tension. It's the reason why they're so nail-biting good. Unless you have been spoiled to tears or have read the manga, you don't know who lives and who dies. I mean, can you name any (non-horror) manga where the main character dies in the first few volumes and then just jumps ahead to another main character?
Jotaro is one of my favorite characters in manga/anime just because of how he was developed. Went from a seemingly simple badass to this intense and complicated beast that you just want to keep watching.
I'm happy araki switch to use stands since hamon powers were getting a bit repetitive. Stands allow him to introduce characters with really wierd and diverse powers, which ia what a long running series needs to keeps people coming back for the next season.
Jotaro vs. Dio is probably the best final battle in any manga/anime as far as I'm concerned. And it does it without requiring them to become so powerful their "power levels" are measured in galactic levels or having cheesy dialogue about power of friendship or the human spirit triumphing over evil.
Unshaved Malevolence Nah, they took liberties for sure, but they weren't that bad. It was more fist of the north star, sure. But it introduced me to the series.
Young Oldman I enjoyed Jotaro vs DIO. But my favorite final fight is probably Naruto vs Sasuke. It was kinda abrupt in the manga, but in shippuuden it was brilliant. The only thing anime did better than in the manga along with Kimimaro'characters and Shikamaru's episode after Asuma's death.
But yeah man I adore each opening and have grown into the newer 1's from part 4. Part 1's OP feels more like an anniversary celebration since you see the manga pages and brief cameos from future protagonists before Jonathan burst right through the panels. The sound FX give it an extra layer of creativity. I think David Production decided to depart from the CG OP's in part 4 because that's when the series starts to take on a more Seinin'esque formula. I could be wrong though.
I honestly love the amount of culture involved within the Southasian and Middle East countries. As a Pakistani raised in KSA and someone who has travelled quite a lot, I was always so thrilled to see how accurately Araki portrayed each culture. Pakistan was quite accurate in my opinion. I also like that he acknowledges that there are quite a lot of beggars in various parts of the world they visited (it's unfortunate that there are so many). He even made a character whose job was to pretend to be a beggar, which is a very real thing.
can someone here explain Jojo's influence on One piece, I fail 2 see it, sum1 said Stands influenced devil fruits but I fail 2 understand their similarity
I can't say for sure if Devil Fruit powers were based entirely on Stands but the major reason people may make that claim is that prior to shows like JoJo Part 3 and One Piece, someone's powers in a battle shounen was derived almost entirely through training and becoming stronger over time. Stands introduced a novel idea of having a super power with no previous training whatsoever, meaning anyone could have a power (even a dog for example). Similarly, Devil Fruit powers only require one thing; the user just eats some fruit.
This is less of a “why you should watch” and more of a “these are all the awesome things that happen in Stardust Crusaders” All said, these are great analyses and summaries/recaps
Looking back on part three the journey was amazing I knew everything you were going to say before you said it. But still the journey really set up for the destination which was just as great as every part of part 3.
Thats one of the reasons i love JoJo's since the introduction of stands. Stands are tailor made to not only be reliable vehicles for the plot to advance that keep the series fresh but also little puzzles the main JoJo of any part since 3 must analyze to find weakspots so they can exploit them before the enemy stand user kills them. The best fights hands down are the ones where the stand is somewhat weak in the traditional sense but has such a niche, hyper-specific ability that has been carefully honed and set up in advance by the enemy stand user to make it so their constraints work with them rather than against. Stands in JoJolion arent even that broken, they just have a really particular set of skills and conditions that the user min-maxes for maximun effect and i love it
My biggest problem with Part 3 is simple, length especially in the anime. Part 3 really does drag it's feet in the middle and it really doesn't help it and they didn't need to make each fight in the anime last 2 parts. I feel like this is corrected in Part 5 along with most of Part 3 problems and we get better feeling story. But now we must wait because "when Part 4?"
crzyboy190 Yeah....how though? Because if your talking about those old bad translations I do consider that flaw of Part 5(btw Part 5 is one of my favorite parts).
No it isn't. Complain about Giorno all you want, but there is nothing that can convince me that Jotaro was any better. As for the side characters, Bruno. Nuff said. Mista and Narancia are also better than the Stardust Crusaders. Not to mention that the stands and fight of part 5 were, probably, the best in the series. Give me anything in part 3 that's better than Grateful Dead, White Album or Green Day.
Does the new scans fix jotaro not being there? The dio plot point being irrelevant? Giorno just being support and uninteresting? The anti-climatic final fight? Trish and fugo?
Can't wait for you to talk about Diamond is Unbreakable. I think that's my favorite part and Josuke is shared best JoJo with Joseph. Though Jotaro is still the most badass solely on the credit of his fight with D'Arby
Greil9 Josuke never hit home to me sadly:/ Jotaro althought broody and angsty in part 3 seemed "more" developed as a JoJo than Josuke, he was kind of a "generic" hero to me, dunno. Im more of the old school so goody two-shoes Jonathan is best JoJo to me :)
hidralalo I heavily disagree with saying that Josuke is somehow less developed than the Gary stu edge lord. but I won't bully you for your opinion,if anything I respect it but I'll disagree with it. Also josuke is about as much of a goody 2 shoes as Jonathan.
Crazy Diamond maybe I used the wrong arrangements of words. I know Jotaro is EDGY and "too cool for school" type of character (he is like the Clint Eastwood character in The good, the Bad and the ugly). Since the beggining I knew he was going to be the punching guy who don't look at explosions yadda yadda. The thing is he had a good set of supporting characters who where rich in personality (althought there were ones who were more overshpwed tha others I admit) Each part was different to the other, so their JoJo's. Part 4 made a drastic change from the epopeyic adventures to a slice-of-life type of show (I accepted it and kept watching) and the introduction of the new jojo made me confused: he is dressed as a "criminal" but he is good natured but not really because his hair-trigger (who's origin is quite sudden and silly and leads to nowhere) and is a money-grabing sometimes and also a school teen who goes to scool and boondogle sometimes...wut? That's the protagonist, well ok. Lets see his companions: a dumb guy who never uses his powers, a grumpy artists who is a douche but has a good heart beneath, a gang leader who smells periods (lol), an alien with a cool name, the previous jojo but mature and a shouty guy who just so happen to have a terrible luck but is a badass (I listed from worst to best). Ok, a mishmash but I will keep on with part 4 The Villain?....awesome. Nuff said Jotaro was clear, he's a "bad guy" type in part 3, Josuke is a mix of personalities in one and also tend to say clichés phrases to it's enemies that fall into a generic hero and is very underdeveloped in the part 4 (it almost seems as it's not his story at all, the villain is the one who more emphasis has) he only have like 3-4 arcs for himself in the entire series. I dunno, part 4 has it best and worst. But the main JoJo is nothing to write home about for me, Koichi steals...the show, so does Yoshikage; but Josuke, not so much. I hope that clears it :p Part 4 is not the worst, but not the best either, just average (with some good things in it).
I love this series. It really gives a proper appreciation for the some series and the history of anime. I started to watch JoJos part 3 (having not seen any others) and saw it as a comedy, what I didn't realise was that a lot of the tropes started here and not that it was just a show using similar ideas I've seen elsewhere.

Fuck, if a street can control a stand then why can't Holly?
Probably Dio I think it was tree not a street but is that any better?
Yeah pretty sure it was a tree, and any living thing can have a stand so yeah.
Since the stand user has no actual mind in the same sense as we do anyone could use the ability to their advantage of they knew how as well.
I thought it was the leaves.
Kevin Pereyra They are the stand power, but the user is tech the tree they come from, best way to explain it would be " because Araki " :D
God, Jojolion is so delightfully weird.
Part 3 also has some of my favorite endings. Walk Like an Egyptian works well as the energetic beginning of the quest, showing off the tarot cards, and Last Train Home reminding us that the end is near, and nothing lasts forever
Last train home omg

Maybe it was because I was going through a really hard time in my life but I totally lost myself in Stardust Crusaders. I couldn’t stop watching it. The humor, the way the characters bonded and worked with each other, the humor, and the art kept me fully invested for the whole season. Jojo part 3 will stay with me forever

I'd love to see your breakdown of Yu Yu Hakusho or/and Kiddy Grade. I know they're both a bit old, but quite good . . .
"With no offensive capabilities except that his stand can turn you into a child, oh, and that he has an axe."
You say "except" as if that doesn't fall into offensive capabilities, when axe murdering in general is a very effective tactic, especially against children.

"Stand Proud just might be my favourite OP of all time."
To hear those words from you was absolutely beautiful.
A way to describe JoJo's:
A story about a rich kid and an Italian punching his vampire brother with the sun,
Which turns into a story about a Englishman and an Italian defeating 4 gods, one of which is the ultimate life form,
Which turns into a story about 4 buff men, an edgy teen, and a dog beating up a vampire,
Which turns into a story about a ghost asking a few teens to hunt down a serial killer,
Which turns into a story about the son of said vampire wanting to become a GangStar,
Which turns into a story about prisons,
And that turns into a story about horse racers with steel balls that do things when you spin them,
So yeah JoJo's is the most insane anime of all time.
P.S. Jotaro is my favorite JoJo and I love parts 3,4, and 7 equally.
And part 2 is basically Competitive Breathing
Part 8: Identity mystery becomes a fruit smuggling ring

I just started watching JoJos Part 1 yesterday. Glad to see you're continuing this series. Even though I'm gonna watch Stardust Crusaders no matter what, I still like to hear what you have to say about it.
to be brutally honest, its probably the second worst part in the series. once you hit part 4 or 5 you'll realize this

@Snoi Med Star Platinum is cute af
I felt this way at the start of every part I've watched so far - at first I hated the brash nature of Joseph compared to how honest and honourable Jonathan was, then I hated how cold Jotaro was compared to how fun Joseph was, then I hated how naive and and irrational Josuke was compared to Jotaro's level-headedness and pragmatism. Each time around, I'd come to love the new JoJo by about 5-10 episodes in but there was always that hatred at the start

JJBA: Diamond is Unbreakable and Persona 4
- Both are the 4th parts of their respective sagas
-Both are set on a small japanese town
- Characters use physical manifestations of the soul (stands/personas)
- The main villian is a serial killer
- There's a character named josuke (yosuke) in both series
- Both have a more colorful style than their predecesors
Here is the interview btw :)
dijeh.tumblr.com/post/56081922481/remember-that-one-araki-x-kaneko-interview-its
DecoyBlackMage hey thanks :) (there's also the fact that in part 3 and in the entire persona series they use the tarot cards to represnete stands/personas)
In the JoJonium edition of Battle Tendency I purchased, Araki's note states that it was indeed a risky move to kill off Jonathan at the time
Jotaro is one of my favorite characters in manga/anime just because of how he was developed. Went from a seemingly simple badass to this intense and complicated beast that you just want to keep watching.
*Why watch Jojo Part 3?*

I'm happy araki switch to use stands since hamon powers were getting a bit repetitive. Stands allow him to introduce characters with really wierd and diverse powers, which ia what a long running series needs to keeps people coming back for the next season.
The answer to all of these questions is easy: dolphins.
Jotaro vs. Dio is probably the best final battle in any manga/anime as far as I'm concerned. And it does it without requiring them to become so powerful their "power levels" are measured in galactic levels or having cheesy dialogue about power of friendship or the human spirit triumphing over evil.
The APP OVA was brutal and bloody thats how you do a shonen anime
+Omio Rahmen The OVAs are awful though.
Unshaved Malevolence Nah, they took liberties for sure, but they weren't that bad. It was more fist of the north star, sure. But it introduced me to the series.
There was no steamroller. So it was bad.
WRYYYYYYY
Young Oldman I enjoyed Jotaro vs DIO.
But my favorite final fight is probably Naruto vs Sasuke.
It was kinda abrupt in the manga, but in shippuuden it was brilliant.
The only thing anime did better than in the manga along with Kimimaro'characters and Shikamaru's episode after Asuma's death.
Why to watch JoJo part 3:
There’s a character named Vanilla Ice
Who kills a third of the crusaders
@@clickboat4790 Laughs in Diavolo who killed half of Bucci Gang
Honestly the OP’s are a good enough reason on their own
Yes😮
I hope you get to cover all of the JoJo's parts eventually. I think Araki's writing has greatly improved as the series went on, for the most part.
I will, and im gonna edit them all into one big 4 hour video
Super Eyepatch Wolf Sounds good. I'll look foward to it.
can someone here explain Jojo's influence on One piece, I fail 2 see it, sum1 said Stands influenced devil fruits but I fail 2 understand their similarity
The WCI arc introduced the Hoya Hoya no Mi.
It is literally a devil fruit that gives you a stand, but with a genie twist.
I already watched part 3 why did I click on this
To see everyone else talk about how much they loved part 3
I love how JoJo's villain arcs go from vampires, gods and godlike vampires trying to take over the world to basically some people harvesting fruit

BOI WE HAVE BEEN WAITING ON THIS LML
Thomas Tiger You are right the pacing of part 3 was fixed in part 5 but Vento aureo is more flawed than SC.
crzyboy190 Yeah....how though? Because if your talking about those old bad translations I do consider that flaw of Part 5(btw Part 5 is one of my favorite parts).
No it isn't. Complain about Giorno all you want, but there is nothing that can convince me that Jotaro was any better. As for the side characters, Bruno. Nuff said. Mista and Narancia are also better than the Stardust Crusaders. Not to mention that the stands and fight of part 5 were, probably, the best in the series. Give me anything in part 3 that's better than Grateful Dead, White Album or Green Day.
mking199 Jotaro became better because of part 4 and 6. Giorno only had one part he never had the same luck as Jotaro to improve in later parts.
Greil9 Jotaro is the Legendary Hero but Josuke is your Senpai.
Greil9 Josuke never hit home to me sadly:/
Jotaro althought broody and angsty in part 3 seemed "more" developed as a JoJo than Josuke, he was kind of a "generic" hero to me, dunno.
The thing is he had a good set of supporting characters who where rich in personality (althought there were ones who were more overshpwed tha others I admit)
Each part was different to the other, so their JoJo's.
Ok, a mishmash but I will keep on with part 4
The Villain?....awesome. Nuff said
Jotaro was clear, he's a "bad guy" type in part 3, Josuke is a mix of personalities in one and also tend to say clichés phrases to it's enemies that fall into a generic hero and is very underdeveloped in the part 4 (it almost seems as it's not his story at all, the villain is the one who more emphasis has) he only have like 3-4 arcs for himself in the entire series.
I dunno, part 4 has it best and worst. But the main JoJo is nothing to write home about for me, Koichi steals...the show, so does Yoshikage; but Josuke, not so much.
I hope that clears it :p
Part 4 is not the worst, but not the best either, just average (with some good things in it).
Crazy Diamond Also Josuke is just a good guy with malicious things from time to time. Jonathan was a literal angel, a gentleman in all the right.
