They really do! I feel like I must have really taken my sweet time with them before. Already 1/3 of the way through the Human campaign! Pretty crazy. Later missions will be longer though for sure.
I see Dwarves are one of your favourite races as well, with the beer and all. Mine too. Man, I miss original Jaina. The way they played her character in WoW expansions feels almost disrespectful to her, even moments where she was meant to be "cool" were either negative to her character or kinda wasted and leading to nowhere (or both). Sure, it can be argued she's a tragic character, but there's a difference between tragedy and using her like a chew toy for shock value and moving on. But it's little surprise - by the point it started happening to her, the original Blizzard was mostly gone and they were soft-rebooting it all with Cataclysm. That all aside, I love how experimental Blizzard was when they were designing WC RTSes. It's evident all through from 1 to 3 - the no-build missions in 1 and hero unit developments in 2 build up so very well to blending RPG and RTS more completely in 3. It's cool to see a path into RPG starting from RTS. Sadly hadn't played WC1 back in the day so I didn't realize just how much of a flex Jaina starting out with a water elemental was implied to be. And having done so now, I see why the elemental was shown to be so OP in the mission cutscene - a callback to its status in 1.
Most of my time in WoW was spent playing as a Dwarf Protection Paladin 🍻 Jaina's expedition to Kalimdor and the founding of Theramore was supposed to be the future of the Human Alliance. I'm definitely disappointed with the direction the lore was taken in WoW. Yes I agree the Warcraft campaigns are amazing. I'll be exploring more on this channel at some point the Warcraft 3 alpha and what that gameplay would have looked like. Yeah the power of the Water Elemental was ridiculous in WC1. I was excited to see their return and also that demonstration of what it can do. Thanks again for your continued viewership! 🍻
13:11 the reason why dispel "failed" is that skeletons here are regular units and not summoned ones. But it does work on skeletons brought up by Necromancers.
Jaina... well, the real reason that Jaina didn't go with Arthas to Northrend is because even Blizzard couldn't justify that outfit in such a frozen landscape. That and they didn't want to bother giving her a new model. As a kid, I was quite disappointed about what they did with the water elemental. It was partially how much weaker it was, but also I knew that it was supposed to be more humanoid (not that I expected it to be quite the same as the Warcraft 1 artwork). What we got was a kinda funny blob that flicked water at enemies. And then blizzard! The spell... well, it wasn't as impressive as in Warcraft 2. But still, overall, despite some setbacks, I was quite in awe of the game. Marie Claire Antoinette? Fetchez la guilliotine! They really did lean into the Elves kinda being jerks later, didn't they? But here they're rather generous and helpful.
Haha - that's probably not too far off. I found it interesting that she actually died in this mission late into development. They definitely changed it up quite a bit - I wonder if part of that was due to limitations in what they could do with 3D at the time. The radius of Blizzard feels quite small now, especially with the camera zoomed out more it really hits. Marie Antoinette let them eat cake 🎂 Yeah the elves are quite nice in Reign of Chaos as far as I can remember. I actually feel bad for them during the undead campaign. Thanks for watching!
Love the water elemental 🌊
💙💙
These early missions feel so quick but i never remember them being like that

Jaina got it going ON

Jaina is incredible 💙💙💜💜
Agreed! 💙💜
Arthas with that rizz 😂 - For the alliance
Just wait until he acquires the Rizz blade Rizzmourne

Ah makes sense! I guess I'm used to dealing with the summoned ones

Can you get us a side by side of the water elemental, attacking like a grunt or peon from each respective game?
at least as a short or something
Definitely! I'll put that together this weekend
