  • A chopper is a terrible idea, where do you start? Chop a Harley Davidson or start from scratch? I think it's time, but there are a lot of questions to answer first. Donor bike or roller? Maybe pick every part separately? Am I going to be made fun of (not by anyone that matters). This is what I have learned having build a full custom bike based on a ‪@harleydavidson‬ sportster, and what I am learning while building a ground up ‪@paughcoparts9816‬ Dirty Biker frame using an ‪@SSCycleInc‬ stroker motor.

The need to critique a stranger online to feel superior about yourself is part of the Human Condition that can only be fixed within, do not give your energy to these types and be happy knowing that the majority appreciate and respect your efforts and results, I'm a trade qualified metal fabricator that respects anyone that makes an effort to create and will offer help if asked, the real chopper community is great for a reason, peace.

I like the stuff you do. Billy Lane is awesome, but with a career, 3 kids and a wife that wants to go for rides on our off time, I prefer to upgrade my bikes and have the work done in a day or two and be back to riding. I don't have the patience to fabricate like those guys and probably don't have the skill to make it worth a crap anyway. It takes more dedication than most of us have. Keep on doing what you're doing

    How to build a chopper:
    1 buy a 300$ beater
2 let it sit for 3 years
    3 sell it for 100$
4 profit - the extra garage space
Love seeing your down and dirty commoner buildin. Shows us how easy or potentially painful an upgrade can be!

Coming from Hawaii and seeing some dubious frame creations and having known Arlen Ness when I lived in the Bay area, if you make your own frame, you will need to make your own attachments. Arlen didn't seem to mind that obviously. Use the frame you have and you have more options, less "I can build a frame bragidociousness"

You can pick up an 883 evo for $3500 all day. (maybe more @ $4000 for a 1200) I got a weld on hardtail through Bitter end old school choppers. You'll need an oil bag and figure out your mounting. You can reuse your batt. tray and existing mounts with a little fabbing. (It'll face the rear) From pulley to pulley will be further apart. Converting to chain is cheaper than a new belt. (yes, even with both new toothed front and rear) Bars, seat, tank, (must be a peanut.....jk jk, run what you want) rear fender and tail light of your choice........that's about it. Wasn't bad at all and WELL worth it. I hope this puts a fire under someone's ass, springs coming soon. Chop on... ... ...

Lots of people see the wide tire 2000s choppers for a good deal and pick one up. Next thing they know they can't find the parts they need to fix their bike. I built a custom wide tire chopper with my pops back in the early 2000s. Most of the parts that we used to build it are no longer available. Most chopper businesses went out of business around 15 years ago. Like you said in your video go with Pachuco and build one from the ground up. They have been building frames for decades and are very knowledgeable and can always help you with any questions you may have.

I have been riding for over 50 years and I love your channel and have been watching you for several years and always learn something from you. Something happened last year that concerns me. I ride with a group (not mc) that is an affiliated with an international men’s organization. We have (had) a cut with a top rocker, bottom rocker and center logo. A well known MC notified us to get rid of our rockers because both groups share a single word in our names. Our group has had the name for over 25 years and someone tells us to remove our colors. I’m so offended by that group and disappointed that our leadership called in our colors. Any thoughts?
