Thank you so much for doing this talk. I didn't realize until you started giving symptoms that I am extremely dehydrated. That's why I have been so sick. I do drink a lot of water. I am going through the USA heat wave right now and hot flashes. I adjusted my water intake for the heat wave but not extra for peri. Thank you again. I just subbed a few weeks ago to the channel. I have read the AVogel site for years even before I started peri. I love your dress.
Hi Safyne Hopefully, the extra water will help now! Great to hear that you've joined. Thank you for your lovely comment about my dress; this is one of my old favourites. I've had it for about 15 years and never want to let it go! Best Wishes Eileen
Thank you have been really good for two years with my symptoms all of a sudden have got burning feet and tongue for the last month really horrible. Remembered I used to watch your blog when my symptoms terrible. It was really reassuring to sit down and watch a few of your blogs and know other people have the same symptoms and I am not going mad. Going to drink more water and only one coffee in the morning. I can’t tell you how much better I feel from watching you. 💚👍🙏
Can't thank you enough for all the information you're supplying. I'm going through a tough time that has been made much easier by you. God bless you. ❤
This was so helpful! I am 43, and am definitely noticing that, especially the week before my period, I struggle with staying hydrated! It’s something that I need to be more mindful of, and stay ahead of it! Otherwise I feel SO tired, get headaches, and don’t want to do anything! I had no idea that estrogen actually helps with hydration!
Thank you! I upped my water intake a while back since I took this advise from you in other talks..It has made a huge difference for me going through menopause..💗
Thank you for all of your great information. It is very helpful. I do get some light-headedness and headaches. Keep the videos coming Miss Vogel !!!!!!!
Thank you . I don’t see a glass of water is boring , for me it gives a cool refreshing feeling because my mouth and body seems to feel hotter than most people. I am always drinking cold water .
You look beautiful, I love your hair, I drink alots of water, plain, everyday, I have uptake my water too, I drink first thing in the morning, I have none of these symptoms, warm water is working too, thanks for helping us, you are a godsend, I view all your videos, they have help me so much, thanks Eileen
I was doing just fine in my mood and all of a sudden I turned spiteful for a second, but what came out of my mouth was meant to cause grief, I felt bad and still do. I think; how many sorrys does one take before they can't take anymore? My poor boyfriend. My "excuses" as some would say, (he doesn't) being menopause, low on water, hunger, I just don't know what to do for him. He says he understands but I know he's a very sensitive guy.
I understand patty cake I say sorry so much to my husband, he understands as well but I try to check myself more often before I speak, I can be really short fused.
Brilliant video thank you so much. I am really struggling with a think anxiety at the moment, I have these horrible lurches in my tummy and then butterfly's, which often leads to a hot flush and palpitations, not sure if linked to the hot weather xx
Hi Helen Yes! The hot weather will dehydrate you further, impacting on the nervous system triggering the anxiety, flushes and palpitations. Best Wishes Eileen
Love your informative videos !! I will try the little shot glass of water before bed instead of my big glass of 💧 I drink lots during the day too!!! You look great too by the way!!😊
Do fruits and vegetables that have a high water content count as getting enough water like berries, cucumbers, tomatoes, pineapple, honeydew, grapes, colored bell peppers, cantaloupe, watermelon, etc.. along with drinking water?
It's good to have plenty of foods like these in the diet to get enough water naturally but it may not be quite enough without adding the extra glass or two Best Wishes Eileen
when i first went into menopause i got so dehydrated that I ended up with a kidney stone OUCH I still battle getting enough water at times even my gums will hurt so bad
Hopefully my tips will help! You could also take a supplement called CoQ10 which is known to help with sensitive or bleeding gums; you should be able to get this from health stores. Best Wishes Eileen
For me, I tick off how many mugs of water I have every day, as it reminds me how much I need to have each day...I take a beaker of water into work with me and take sips and I make sure I drink it all... A slice of fresh lemon in water at home is good too...
Hi Marie If you're feeling thirsty a lot and are drinking plenty of water, it is important to check with your doctor. Diabetes can often develop in the menopause and this can cause constant thirst. Your doctor can test for this just to rule it out Best Wishes Eileen
I feel like I am drinking too much water to the point where my pee is clear like water. Yet I'm always dehydrated. Could this be because I am going to the bathroom constantly. I find I cannot hold my urine at all so I think everything I put in comes right out right away. Is this possible. Do I still need to drink more?
Hi Saedene, If you are drinking lots of water but are always thirsty then it is wise to get this checked by your doctor. Some health issues such as diabetes can cause this so it's always best to get it investigated first. Best Wishes Eileen
... & not just during menopause, the uncomfortable, inconvenient, disconcerting & sometimes surprisingly frightening physical symptoms can happen at any age ... what percentage of the blood is water? is it 75%? I've kept the cardboard carrier for a six-pack of my favorite beer filled with my water bottles for the day. Thank you for your very helpful videos & your reassurance that there is quite a lot we can do to care for ourselves.
Hi Lambylambcurly It' just depends on your own personal preference; I tend to do a bit of both. If I have a really busy day I tend to drink lots at a time just in case I forget! Best Wishes Eileen
Liquids are important, but most water does not hydrate you. Hydration comes from electrolytes. These are found in mineral waters, vegetables, fruits, sea salts, even beer, ha! You could easily dehydrate yourself by drinking too much regular processed or tap water. Yes, dark urine can mean dehydration, but a very light urine can indicate too little electrolytes. 😐
Hi, eileen lately my teeth are gone very sensitive can ther menopause affect your teeth ? I dont know if you have a video about this , also my lips feel different .thanks a mill
Hi Breda Yes, this can happen, falling oestrogen can affect the gums and lips. If your gums bleed or start to recede, this can also cause loose teeth or even tooth loss. Yes, here's a link to one on mouth issues. www.avogel.co.uk/health/menopause/videos/mouth-problems-during-menopause/ Best Wishes Eileen
How much electrolytes for menopausal women that works out daily? My labs show I’m low sodium. Apparently progesterone is a diuretic-which I take in evening.
Hi K C I'm sorry but I don't have figures for this. It may be that you need to consult a fitness coach who may be able to help, taking your age, fitness level, weight etc into account. Best Wishes Eileen
Hi Sophia I trend not to recommend intermittent fasting in the menopause as it can cause huge dips in blood sugar levels, which in turn can trigger a number of menopause symptoms such as anxiety, nausea, headaches or flushes. Also, if you fast for too long every day, the body thinks there is a famine so will lower your metabolism rate, making losing weight much more difficult. If you feel better on the diet maybe incorporate the foods you are eating now but have regular meals to keep your metabolism steady. Best Wishes Eileen
Water IS all I drink. Anyone dealing with dry mouth should eat to whole cloves, not ground but whole. Chew 2 in the morning before you eat. You may try this Eileen, you seem to have a time with it in this video. People WATER is ESSENTIAL, we are made of water.... DRINK Clean Purified water out of a Glass NOT plastic..
