my rough interpretation of the lyrics to duality. the duality of not wanting to be blind to the truth of reality and its corruption. the truth hurts so bad you try to look away, to close your eyes, it helps ease the pain, but it always works its way inside, once your eyes are opened to the truth looking away is impossible. your stuck in duality wanting to know the truth but also wanting to escape from the pain it causes. the pain is maddening sometimes you just wanna give up, you feel powerless, you wish things were different, you wish you could change things, but you cannot kill what you did not create. all you have is your voice and all you can do is say what you see even though you know people wont like it. you don't know if you can take it anymore so you push your fingers into your eyes again to stop the ache, but it never ends, it works its way back inside. i love that song, i feel i can really relate to it more and more the older and wiser i get.

I think our generation still hadn't gotten to the point of being in tune with how we feel and we turned to music from bands like Slipknot that allowed us to channel that rage and emotion we wouldn't normally show. I think what a lot of these kids aren't doing is feeling the music and instead focusing on just the aesthetics of it. Which btw, a big point. The 90s and early 2000s was a breakout point in culture for us.
That is a great parenting win. I’m so thankful my parents brought me up on metal. What these kids don’t get is most metal songs are about a release of a Emotions in a constructive way. A lot of metal has a very positive message. Unlike a lot of other genres.
Do these kids not realize this IS them letting it out? This IS a band's therapy. And it was my generation's therapy growing up and sometimes it still is. Most metal and rock bands are done of the sweetest, most down to earth ppl too.
That's exactly what I mean! People who have a dark or painful side and confront it in a form of art are the best people because they are able to let it out instead of hiding it like people who don't let it out. Wish my generation understood what it was like to struggle, just so they would understand...
Maybe that's why our generation is so messed up, we never had proper theraputic activities and outlets. Yeah loud metal, but nothing else really. Unless you wanted to go down the drug path.
Slipknot fan since 2000, was my fav band in Grammer through High School, people didn't understand the music back then either. Somewhere along the line they became respected and hailed as one of the most iconic metal bands of all time. They are still rocking, breaking rules and letting the maggots out there know they are not left behind.
It just proves the band's point - everyone talks about their looks and how their music sounds, but not about the message, which explains a lot about today's music industry.
I love the evolution of this channel. He started off as a hip hop head, trying to expand his music taste. Now he's s full blown metal head and I love it.
It's been a journey. It's kind of crazy I was on the exact same path at the exact same time. A few years ago all i knew was rap, couldn't have named probably more than 3 metal bands tbh. Now as a full blown metal head these types of videos make me cringe more than anything. I love alex's reactions so much because he fucks with the exact same songs and bands that I do.
i found funny that everytime i started banging my head you are also doing it haha. My lil bro (hes fourteen) is raised by a different dad that doesnt hear a lot of rock/metal and since when he was litte i started showing metal to him but he was always like "i dont really like metal". A couple months ago he came to talk with me . "Hey you know this band ? It sounds great " and sent me a link of slipknot haha proud of him
Im so happy my dad made me grow up on rock (started off with red hot chili peppers and guns n roses as a 5 year old...) that made me love metal as well. Now i'm here with slipknot. I'm SO glad my dad hated mainstream music and made me listen to this absolute beauty and i'm so happy that my mom completely supports me liking this stuff because she understands that some people let their feelings out in this way.
The amount of pain we have to suffer by listening to these kids.. Edit: This is my most liked comment I've gotten on yt lol, thank you all! I appreciate you, even if you disliked it! :)

More painful then the actual pain we suffered growing up, and coping/venting to the music they consider cringe. In all truths it's somewhere between Ironic, and funny. 😂👍🏼 Let's keep on it. 🤘🏼
Same bro, every time I show people some of my favourite bands they think its weird, loud and "too aggressive" Even with bands that are really quiet (compared to slipknot for example)
Man- As a Gen Z, I fully grown up around metal because of my parents being metal heads and Slipknot was one of the bands. It is now one of my favorite bands. A lot of this generation is truly missing on absolute masterpieces of music. I gotta thank my parents for introducing me to rock/metal when I was just a lil kid.
I love how now that you've been on your metal journey, you can see the other perspective. You can understand how annoying it is when people just say, "It's noise," "it's screaming," or "who would listen to this." Meanwhile, all these songs have deep meaning, are composed by extremely talented musicians, and just make you want to rock out. Sometimes, I prefer metal not to be mainstream. It helps filter out people with closed minds.

"Emotion is everything to them." They don't even understand their own emotions, or at least these individuals. Slipknot is about the anger that builds up inside through your struggles and instead of acting out through anger, these songs release that said anger that we have built up. They are the voice that other people don't have. They are a deep band because of their own experiences that is written through their songs. Slipknot will always be immortal. Just look at their past and look into why they do what they do. This all being said, I do enjoy that they like seeing Craig.
Couldn't have said it better. Honestly i gotta give credit to Slipknot and Mudvayne for getting me out of situations where i was depressed or angry and here I am today still listening to both bands. I listen to others like Metallica, Slayer, Deicide, Avenged Sevenfold, Cannibal Corpse, etc.

The funny part is corey really is one of the most talented vocalists in rock/metal too. He can sing like a damn angel when he wants to...also these kids dont realize that screaming takes way more talent cause you can so easily decimate your vocal cords if done incorrectly.
And that is because they are ignorant children who wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass. If I'm not mistaking the lead singer of slipknot has a five-octave range which is insanely high even for a woman let alone a man. Truly a gifted and very talented musician.
@@thestig007 Most female singers and some male singers are lucky to sing at a third-octave range so his being able to sing at a five says a lot about his voice, ability, and training. Mariah Carey can hit notes comfortably within five octaves and can sing from octave 2 to octave 7. I think seven octaves may be her whistle note. While Dimash Kudaibergen can sing up to a seven-octave range as a classically trained opera singer. Human beings can't even hear a ten-octave vocal range and the man who can do that holds the world record. The lead singer of slipknot is halfway to the world record that only a single human being holds.
That is all music for the most part dipshit. Most songs usually follow a rhyming pattern. That is the level of stupidity I expect with slipknot fanboys.

you also gotta differenciate between music back then and music now. today its most people who are getting bought by labels who have to have certain releases and focusing on new gen style artists who actually make good music is harder than in the past. you gotta listen niche if you wanna have real music where the artist 100%identifies with what theyre doing. i can refer to german rap scene where we have really talented people who get ruined by labels to make them popular for the mass (which is important for them because money), then drop out of the label and suddenly making fire releases after that again. all in all, taste's a funny thing
forgot to mention: their reactions are cringe af though.. oof. def not a good idea to let people react who have no clue about the whole culture behind it

If you call yourself a metal head, then slipknot is definitely not "your" music. Slipknot was one of the nu "metal" pop bands that came onto the scene when actual Metal went largely out of business in the 90s, making music for angsty teenagers. They also paved the way for the later Insert-the-blank-core bands in the early 2000s that popped up everywhere. Just saying, it's quite an isolated pop culture phenomena similar to Grunge and subsequently died in the same way. Luckily, actual Metal received quite the revival in recent years.
@@Asto508 "metal" not a specific sub-genre, just metal. "actual metal" never went out of business, at least not to us. The 90s and early 2000s was a breakout point in culture for us.
Nope. Nope. Nope. It had nothing to be with not being in tune with out emotions.
My 17 year old daughter's favorite band is Slipknot. I find this to be an ultimate parenting win.
oh yea
thanks
me and my friends are 18 years old. We can belt out slipknot and avenged sevenfold lyrics like nothing. However, we still hate our generation.
You did gone done gooood yo.
That is a great parenting win. I’m so thankful my parents brought me up on metal. What these kids don’t get is most metal songs are about a release of a
Emotions in a constructive way.
Slipknot is and always will be my anger management class.
@@outrageous-alex Yeah, it's sad how a lot of people end up...but I try not to generalize, give me an inkling of hope for the world lol
Kids these days don't express their anger. They express their sadness in a melancholic way. Sign of the times mate
Slipknot fan since 2000, was my fav band in Grammer through High School, people didn't understand the music back then either. Somewhere along the line they became respected and hailed as one of the most iconic metal bands of all time. They are still rocking, breaking rules and letting the maggots out there know they are not left behind.
Dude, you are so held back from what you really want to say. I feel that!
It just proves the band's point - everyone talks about their looks and how their music sounds, but not about the message, which explains a lot about today's music industry.
Gen-Z stuff. It's always the aesthetics first.
I love the evolution of this channel. He started off as a hip hop head, trying to expand his music taste. Now he's s full blown metal head and I love it.
could not agree more.

Once you go Metal, you never go back 🤘😂
i found funny that everytime i started banging my head you are also doing it haha.
These kids are the perfect reason to get a vasectomy
I feel that pain and I'm 14... Fuck
Those kids do not represent the gen Z. They are NPCs to be honest
@Villainy Outsider short for non-player character. NPC (/ɛnpisi/; each letter separately; also known as the NPC Wojak), derived from non-player character, is an internet meme that represents people who do not think for themselves or do not make their own decisions; those who lack intrapersonal communication.
More painful then the actual pain we suffered growing up, and coping/venting to the music they consider cringe. In all truths it's somewhere between Ironic, and funny. 😂👍🏼 Let's keep on it. 🤘🏼
As a guy born in 2004 I grew up with Slipknot, I hate that most of my generation will never understand and experience this great music

What metal journey?
Man has barely delved into it and instead went full Hot Topic/Warped Tour mallcore.
Alex is literal tourist.
@Dragon Ball fans can't read seriously? Hes been reacting to music videos for years now, has actually been to concerts, trying to learn guitar, bought all kinds of band merch, and introduced friends to it. I think it's safe to say its influenced him quite a bit.

"Emotion is everything to them."
They don't even understand their own emotions, or at least these individuals.
This all being said,
I do enjoy that they like seeing Craig.

He's one of the few singers with that range. I think Dani Filth is also on that list.
@@thestig007 Vitas and Dimash are also up there as well but they are classically trained opera singers.
The lead singer of slipknot is halfway to the world record that only a single human being holds.

you also gotta differenciate between music back then and music now. today its most people who are getting bought by labels who have to have certain releases and focusing on new gen style artists who actually make good music is harder than in the past. you gotta listen niche if you wanna have real music where the artist 100%identifies with what theyre doing. i can refer to german rap scene where we have really talented people who get ruined by labels to make them popular for the mass (which is important for them because money), then drop out of the label and suddenly making fire releases after that again. all in all, taste's a funny thing

Luckily, actual Metal received quite the revival in recent years.
and all the emo kids i knew turned into hipsters lol
@@Asto508 "metal" not a specific sub-genre, just metal. "actual metal" never went out of business, at least not to us. Amen mine raised me on black sabbath and lynyrd skynyrd and dr hook and the medicine show then one day he gave me a kiss album when i was 14 back in 1985 , ive been a rocker ever since , im 51 now ,still rockin hand of doom by sabbath and im diehard into zakk wylde ans the black label society
Ain't a father to be found in none of these kids homes. They all sound like their mommas.
Same.
@@CBourn48223 nah don't blame it on being fatherless, I was raised by all women and I love slipknot
i remembering falling in love with "Wait and Bleed", Corey's voice is amazing, it's been 16 years since then and i am still listening to them some times especially their "Vol.3: The Subliminal Verses" album! 🌞
That was the song that got me into them freshman year :)
Wait and bleed is also got me listening to them Its my favorite in the self titled album
I got a full on hip hop listener to switch to metal because of wait and bleed
Wait and Bleed is my favorite Slipknot song. It just hits all the right buttons for me.
I watched the original video and expected someone would appreciate Slipknot's music the way I did when I first heard Slipknot when I was 10 and now I'm 31. That's why I really love the way Alex enjoys Slipknot.
slipknot is my 16 year old daughter’s favorite band! just took her to see them in concert last month ❤️

Fun Fact: Margot Robbie is realy a Slipknot fan. her quote on Jimmy Fallon show in 2016:
Singling out Slipknot for particular praise, Robbie continued: “I went to a Slipknot concert and to this day it was probably the best concert I’ve ever gone to. They’re just amazing performers - even if you don’t like metal, I think you would appreciate a Slipknot concert, cause it’s just incredible to watch.”

"Robbie Reyes" Aside from Slipknot, she enjoys Bullet for My Valentine as well
Btw Alex have seen that piece from the Fallon show when reacted to Loudwire's "TOP 10 MOST SURPRISING CELEBRITY METALHEADS!!"
Dude before I forget got me really headbangin
Im an older gen z, early '05, and i love Slipknot! 🤘🤙🔥
I was freshman in high school when I first listened to Slipknot. And I remember all of my metal head friends calling them too soft and “posers” mind you we were cannibal corpse, morbid angel fans and Slipknot was “soft”. Crazy how times have changed. I was always very eclectic. My musical taste varied a lot after I started to play guitar.
I first listened to Slipknot in 6th grade, I remember not telling anyone because they would have probably think I was a weirdo, but now idc what others think of my music taste, honestly because I can still respect someone even if they don't like my taste of music.
Slipknot is an introduction to metal for children and teens. It's just a fact
Agreed, I think these kids would suffer from PTSD if they had to listen to Deicide, Death, Morbid Angel, Mortuary, Or Obituary 😂
@@bubbytumby8509 Na, that was Rob Zombie.
I miss those days, glad I am a Millennial and not a Zoomer.
I'm so proud of what Alex has become, from a hiphophead to a truly majestic METALHEAD.
"I'm honestly really terrified of this"
GOOD
7:24 " is that a dead animal.??" 😅😅😅 my fav
I 110% agree with you! "That kid annoys me the most". I couldn't agree more! I seen Slipknot last September and many others and crowd surfed to slipknot too and it was a damn blast but also rough in that crowd too but so worth it! Slipknot and Korn are who really got me into heavier music when I was a kid. 20 years later I'm still rocking out to them!
This gave me a stroke. please think about learning some kind of punctuation
@@lanelillard5815 ...She has punctuation. 5 Forms of it actually. Grammar Nazis just want to hate on anything
@@lanelillard5815 you must be weak
07' here, I've listened to many different genres, but metal will always have a place in my heart. Bands like a7x, slipknot, soad, metallica, sabaton and get scared get me through my day.
SOAD is my favorite 🥹
15 years old, and i still love METAL!!!
