    1) The on/off action might not be so stiff if you coated everything with silicone grease during installation.
    2) I couldn't get the round metal top part off either with a adjustable plyers. Thanks for tip on using a pipe wrench, as I didn't care if it left marks. When applying torque on the piece to loosen it, hold the faucet spigot with an opposing force so the faucet mounts are not stressed.
    3) Thanks for the excellent video.

    Adjustable wrench (aka Crescent wrench) or Knipex Pliers Wrench also work. If you can't find brass jaws, smooth jaws also work but avoid toothed jaws on typical water pump pliers. The wide side of the included wrench can also be used to adjust a top nut that appears on some models.

      @@shanesmaineshop thanks for your reply. I look forward to the video. The set my parents had was in place for about 20 years and likely leaking for about 6 or 7. Rarely used, they have been leaking consistently so there was quite a buildup of calcium around the handle. Allen nut and the top of the serviceable parts. As a results it was impossible to take off the in this case knurled fastener. When I gave up using the strap wrench and moved over to the water pliers... All I did was damage it. There was nothing to get it off. It was at that point that my mom told me they had the same problem in another bathroom 2 years ago! The smallmative good news is that the adjustment wrench did reduce the amount of water leaking out of the top while the faucet was in use. So this is a suitable repair until my parents replace the faucet in the spring.

    Thanks ! I’ve been putting off fixing my delta knock-off dripping faucet for “8” years now. Gonna go to local hardware store and hope they have a universal kit like the one you used. I’ve been concerned over the water pressure tank switching on more than normal. Like everything that is overused, there’s a wear and tear issue. Not to mention my super costly well pump being over used. So thanks again! God Bless you!

    This is a great video, thank you. I do have one question though. My faucet is not dripping but is leaking at the base of the oblong silver piece of the faucet that sits on the sink itself. Will this fix you have shown us fix that problem.

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  Рік тому

      Possibly but not always, it depends on where the leak is coming from. If it’s leaking internally it could be dripping back down and running out from where you’re talking about. Unfortunately the best thing to do is to take it apart and take a look at it better yet the part that I replaced is not that expensive so it might be worth just changing it anyway. Good luck and let me know what you find out or if you have any other questions I’d be happy to try and help.

    Hi Shane. I have a leak that is pooling underneath the base of this faucet, basically where the faucet sits atop the sink. I'm trying to disconnect the water lines from the faucet but it looks like the only way to get to them is through the knob. Can you confirm this?

    • @shanesmaineshop
      @shanesmaineshop  9 місяців тому

      There should be a way to disconnect them from underneath sometimes it’s very difficult because behind the sink basin way up directly below the Fossett on the underside of the cabinet. I’ve never had to disconnect a faucet from the top if you try to remove it from the cabinet itself. Hopefully I understood your question correctly.

    • @everythinghomerepair1747
      @everythinghomerepair1747 5 місяців тому +1

      You should not need to remove the handle to get to supply lines. Some older faucets have permanently built in supply lines which means they are part of the faucet and you need to disconnect the lines from the valves below the sink.
