This reminds me beautifully of the time I was sitting on your sofa at 2am, and you were explaining in passionate depth why FF7 was one of your favourite things ever. Feels like this game was made solely for you.
dcd X89 I used to wake up early before school to play every day lol also my uncles had a strategy guide that I used to read before I was actually able to play lol
@@RubedoURTV666 I see what you did here ;) Also, Rubedo means you're a fellow Tenno, so you have my Respect! (even though you are not pure, coming to this place)
Yes...im not a fan of the title because its a bait and switch. Even calling it "Remade" is better than "Remake". I honestly feel marketing got involved and messed up the title.
i agree... i think that this game is actually a continuation of the original game, because S and A don't actually die...in fact, i suspect that all those times S has appeared in other games have been him attempting to return, like he did through GEOSTYGMA, and this time A is trying to make sure he stays DEAD dead...
I wish there were more people like you. Sadly I see far more complaints about the game than anything positive, and those same negative people berate anyone who dares be optimistic about the game's direction.
I thought this game was phenomenal so much so that the ending made me get up, pick up my switch and download FF7. I need to know this entire story. And now I have started my journey of exploring retro final fantasy titles.
Some good titles on the switch. I’m currently playing 8 as it’s the only one I haven’t finished. Although not a big fan to be honest. 9 is incredible, 10 is first time voice acting and beautiful!
I should totally do the same...been a tic since I played the original....though I have a few other games on my plate that I haven't played before so it'll prolly have to wait.
My friend played the Remake I played the Remake Got super curious Played Crisis Core Played the original Watched Advent Children twice Proceeded to watch every gameplay out there Restarted the game That’s how I discovered FF7 and now I’m obsessed :’) Good job Square
This is a PlayStation game. Through and through Sony is and always has been the main focus of final fantasy. It is where the majority of fans are still due to financial restrictions. Lets be honest though. PC players, playstation players and xbox players are all different breeds.
@@chriskirk9708 Its coming to PC next year. And I was talking about this type of loading mechanic in general, as MANY games and franchises use it nowadays.
@@klonoa7560 ah I see. Well this game played through no issues while others that have hidden loading screens have crashed. Although I played those on xbox (which I regret. Xbox blows for RPGs)
Honestly, the slow walking (my favorite of which was the scene right after Chapter 1, walking through the rubble and civilians getting from the reactor to Seventh Heaven) is everything I could've asked for. No joke. The atmosphere and the people of Midgar are such an important part of why that damn pizza stuck with us so much. Final Fantasy VII is a game about life. It always has been. So to see the place in which different kinds of people live life, and how they live their lives, and how they react and can somehow find a way in their crumbling slums... it's so powerful. It's amazing. I love it.
Same I'm 28 but I didn't have many consoles growing up and it's not really a game you can play at a friend's. But I definitely recommend going back and playing the og and watching advent children if you like it a lot
You'd enjoy the original. It is turned based, but it is enjoyable. The story is fantastic and despite not having voice actors, you can tell that each have their own personality with great character growth. Mind you it is blocky graphics, but it's a ps1 game. Hell it pushed the ps1 to the limit with what was considered amazing graphics. So yeah, you'd enjoy it. You can download it on ps3 and I think ps4
I've played most of the main Titled Final fantasy games I honestly think 7 is one of the weaker entries in the series (2 and 8 being worse) it's a decent game though the only reason I'd recommend playing the original over the remake is so that players know what the story is but the Remake in my opinion blows the original out of the sky in basically everything including story and writing and music and it's honestly my top 5 final fantasy
No its far from a reboot. Its basically a sequel and remake in one.. Keeping the original story intact and this is sephiroth attempting to ensure he beats destiny (that chosen by the world itself who is a character in its own) and Aerith understanding this aswell trying to beat destiny to deter her own fate and stop sephiroth. This takes place after advent children. Red XIII and the other members have a vision of the future which is a retelling of a ending scene in advent children after the world wipes out all of humanity to prevent the potential destruction of itself ever again. This isn't a reboot but a continuation of the ffvii compilation taking place after the events of all other ffvii stories told in a remake.
Ff7 remake was my first ff game ever. I came into this not knowing what to expect and by the end of it I finally knew why people liked it so much. The story is beyond amazing and better than anything I’ve ever seen before in any other game, the gameplay and challenges are great and kept my attention, and I EVEN CRIED when I thought someone died. Ff7 remake made me feel like I was actually in the world itself and like I’ve known the characters for years, like I’m living their life. I am currently playing through the original but I can’t wait to see what the other parts of remake has to offer considering the differences between the original and the remake
Here’s what I think in regards to the ending. First off, the whole thing with Zack is an alternate timeline, as hinted at with the chip bag with Stamp on it, on that bag Stamp is a different breed of dog than what you’d remember in the early chapters. Zack’s surviving against a fight he was supposed to die in is one of the side effects of Cloud and friends beating the Harbinger of Fate. Their victory not only changed their fate, but also the fate of many other people across time and space. That was the whole point of showing Zack surviving his fight and I wouldn’t be surprised if we never revisit that timeline in the remake miniseries. A spin-off, maybe. Also, the subtitle “Remake” likely refers to the characters choosing to remake their fate. Again, kinda meta.
My theory is the timeline where Zack lives is the timeline Sephiroth wins as Cloud never becomes Cloud. At some point the timelines have to converge and Sephiroth wants the Zack timeline to become reality, so there will be a Singularity event where the timelines co-exist (like the end of Part 1) where Cloud and Zack will defeat Sephiroth together. Zack will accept his fate, because he's an awesome guy, and allow himself and his timeline to be erased and the one we know to continue.
@@LagunaX1 For there to be a winner, there does not have to be a loser. The whole point of defying fate is Zack, Aerith, and many others don't have to be sacrificed.
@@KouriRyu No, I think the whole point is defying fate benefits Sephiroth and not Cloud. It's purposely misleading you into thinking you'll get a happy ending just so their deaths will hit harder.
LagunaX1 I'm hoping that's the case. With how much the theme of "defying fate" has been a foundation for the stories of the last few Final Fantasy games, I'd like to see a twist where it turns out it was better to follow destiny's path.
I'm listening through the soundtrack right now, and literally this song just started as I was reading this. I was thinking, "which song is this?" and looked at my playlist and this one just started up. But I actually don't like as many of the songs from this game. Don't like many of the new songs, and there are too many remixes. Some of the new versions of old songs are better IMO, such as Sephiroth's song, or Under the Rotten Pizza, but some are not as good. Aerith's song, Trail of Blood (which is now called something different), even the boss battle music, those just aren't good arrangements.
@@systemafunk A lot of the arrangements work best within the contexts they're played in-game, so I kinda get where you're coming from "soundtrack" soundtrack-wise.
Artificial Fears - Fight On but if we’re talking original soundtrack only... that’s a hard one but the opening soundtrack - Prelude ... it just introduces the “feels “ before they get your blood pumping
One of the things that really has me interested in the sequel, is that Sephiroth seemed to understand his destiny and be able to deviate from it, but not escape it. Then he brings in Cloud and his team who kill Destiny and this appears to be exactly what Sephiroth wants. Cloud and the team also don't truly understand what their fate was supposed to entail, so there's so many possibilities for this new story to play on it
We dont know what is going to happen next, but we do know its going to be different from the original game, because this is not a remake anymore, its a sequel.
@@johnnybadass1328 I'm assuming he couldn't for some reason. Like he clearly leads them into that realm and egged em on. I'm hoping they elaborate more on that in the future. There's also the fact the 3 whispers that you fight to damage the giant one have that whole battle intel line about protecting their future, and they all have a parallel to Cloud, Tifa, and Barret, so maybe that's part of it
@@johnnybadass1328 I'm not sure if he could have. It seems like Sephiroth is not part of the proper timeline here, which means the Whispers would have immediately went to delete him as opposed to needing the heroes alive to act out the proper course of events. He helped manipulate them into fighting the Whispers for a reason, and it's possible that he was only able to weaken them and seemingly usurp their power after fate had been freed from its original path by the main characters.
If we ignore that it's ridiculous, ruins the gradual build up that made people love him and that all of the new additions clash with the main story's theme and progression, I guess it's cool. But then again most people play games to do cool shit, not experience well told stories, right?
@CK Gaming Channel still better than the Xbox one s which was released after the one then they released the one x... But how dare sony not put a new system out for cash grabs.
Yep, and thats has been a core design of videogames since the original FF7, the start of the 3d graphics. Thats exactly what the next generation of consoles is trying to solve, to finally get rid of those slow segments that give the game time to load.
@@Carlisho maybe thats why I don't care. I dealt with dial up. Although I do sometimes wish I could not be controlling a super slow person after I have beaten the game.
Uhm, isnt crawling and moving through tight spaces used so the game can load the next section? Its a hardware restriction, not a game design choice as far as i know.
The fact that this was the free game on PS+ a few months ago is mind blowing. I probably wouldn’t have played it otherwise, and I’m so glad I did. One of my favorite games that I’ve played in a minute.
I can explain why it was free, because gamers did a boycott on buying it, since the company broke under the western influence and propaganda, mods will fix it, but mods can't fix the reputation of enix
Ps Plus is the shit right? I've only actually bought 2 games and the rest I got were free haha. And they say Sonys like the rest of the companies, I dont think so lol.
All of the sub characters that got 5 minutes of screen time in the original and now are fully fleshed out made me feel for them. I cried at those special and specific moments...
"Despite its linearity". Sorry but I had to point this out, Im tired of people associating linearity with bad. Linearity is GOOD. Persona 5 is 100% linear and is AMAZING, even won RPG of the year. So Id love if people stopped looking at linearity as a bad thing, to finally realize that its a GOOD thing, with linear games you can focus way, WAY more in the story, while in open world you have to focus to much on the open world. So fewer open world games please and more linear or at least semi open games, thats what I hope, and I hope the next parts keep on being linear.
The original was pretty linear. I was just thinking this. Ffx also linear yet one of people’s favorite ff. There’s enough room on the map that it doesn’t feel like ffxiii. I agree in an experience like Skyrim the lack of linearity can be fun but that’s not what this game is
@@georgeparkinson1314 I only disagree with you on 13, I love it and dont care about how narrow it was, the scenarios were amazing anyway and the story was dope, to me thats enough. But I agree with everything else, and this just shows how linear is great but people keep on promoting the stupid idea of open world.
@Little Yankee Yep there are many amazing games that are linear (with my bias I would say that most linear games are better than open worlds but I know that are a few open worlds that are good), I would even say that the games that have the most amazing stories are in the majority linear, because linearity let the devs focus on story way more.
Seriously, most open world games now result in more content but almost all of it is the most mind numbingly boring content. The Witcher 3 is the best open world experience I'd say I've had in a game in terms of quality of content spread throughout a game world.
I always felt that the Giant Whisper was a Whisper Weapon. You can see it even made twisted versions of ruby and emerald. It was like we had to kill a Weapon version of our expectations, and then got a cool advent children combat as a reward. For what it is worth, that was my feeling.
I know I’m 2 years late but this is a great take. Never thought of it like this, but I love the idea. I’ve played through it about 6 times between when it came out and now and I missed the emerald/ruby detail you pointed out, but he’s definitely weapon-ish lol.
Here's my take on the game. What if the "remake" in it's name is actually a subtile. That would then actually make FF7R a sequel, and not just an HD remake. The remake in the phrase would mean they're remaking their destiny.
Except SE said before that they didn't wanna add a subtitle to the title because they didn't want people to think it's a spin-off or a sequel...and then SURPRISE! It's actually a sequel lol.
i agree... i think that this game is actually a continuation of the original game, because S and A don't actually die...in fact, i suspect that all those times S has appeared in other games have been him attempting to return, like he did through GEOSTYGMA, and this time A is trying to make sure he stays DEAD dead...
The Completionist is seriously the best/most enjoyable show here on youtube. It is just so well made and i really appreciate the time Jirard and the other members of The Completionist team put in to each episode to make something so great for us all to enjoy. Thats all
I went into this game blind since I've never played. I got it for $10 so I wasn't gonna be upset if it was just overhyped and dumb. The first thing that caught me and immediately made me excited were the visuals and character designs. It was such an astounding thing for me that I sometimes forgot I was playing a game. They looked so real and it was easily the best part for me. The second were the characters themselves. Very well written and all of them are believable. I wanna mention Barrett real quick because I've seen people complain that he's just an angry black man, but he was so much more. He was a very smart man who gave a damn about his planet and was doing everything to protect it. I had so much respect for his character and to top it all off, he was a father of a small child. A damn good one at that. Finally, the story was actually very good. Cloud dealing with these thoughts of Sephiroth believing the man to be dead stood out to me since Sephiroth is such a badass villain. Cloud's panic and doubt made those scenes better. And I'm not gonna forget to mention the best part of this entire thing. Just staring at Red 13 and admiring the work amd detail that went into his design. All and all this game was a phenomenal game and I am more than excited to continue this (in my case) new adventure.
I absolutely ADORE this game. Square really put a lot of love into it. Personally, I'm glad it doesn't really "end" here, because I've a feeling the next installments could be even better. This is more a companion to the original than anything, the detail is astounding and special kudos to the voice actors for bringing the FF7 cast to life.
Nathaniel Foga I don’t know if you know this but the game started development in 2015, somebody spread the news that they started development of a Ff7 remake and they had to announce it soon so that people can witness the announcement of a remake of one of the best games ever naturally instead of via a leak. The directors said it was announced too early, almost right after they started working on it and it was not the initial plan. That’s why it felt like a long time. Also I think that the next game will be releasing in 2 or 3 years as they have the engine and battle system already and just have to work on the locations and environment.
Saif Al Hammadi It would make sense to assume that the second part is coming soon, for the reasons you pointed out, and also, the game is already in development.
Gabe García Excellent. I honestly can’t wait. I personally prefer the Fantasy part more than the mechanical part of FF7, so this is very exciting. I also hope that the remake is only split into 2 games, Midgar part 1 and the rest part 2. I don’t want to wait for a third time. I think it makes sense because we fought one winged sephiroth in this game and the next game it will be god sephiroth, so I wonder what will they do with the second game’s final boss if there were three. I don’t mind how long they work on it but I hope the next installment is the final one. Two games is enough personally.
Matthew Fronsoe Oh I didn’t know about that. I’m in my late teens right now so I was a baby back then. I started looking into video game media, Nintendo directs and state of play and E3 etc in 2017 so anything before that I have no idea about. Thanks for the info, I’ll do some research on that right now.
Matthew Fronsoe The remake was indeed my first Final Fantasy game. I always wanted to play 7 because I played the Kingodm hearts series on my ps2 as a kid and most of the FF characters came from FF7. Sadly I didn’t have a ps1 but a few years later the remake was announced and I swore that I would buy it. I’m now working through chapter 13 in hard mode. This game is so great! I also started playing the original on the switch a few days back to compare it to the remake. I just beat the gold saucer level and stopped playing, because I want to keep surprises for when the remake comes out. Barrett’s back story made me stop playing because I knew that the remake would make the scene way better in terms of visuals, emotion and voice acting. So I. Decided to stop and won’t continue it until I finish the remake series. The remake expanded on areas like the train graveyard which was previously two rooms that you would get through in 2 minutes and fleshed out all the characters, Cloud has emotions, Tifa cries, aerith is a bit cocky, Barrett is a loving father but very committed to destroy shinra, the avalanche crew have personalities! Biggs loves children, Jessie wants to be an actress at the gold saucer and wedge is really into cats. That’s a few examples but almost every character was developed extremely. They also made certain cutscenes emotion like the sector 7 incident. I honestly can’t wait for the next game.
Considering I'm on my 4th playthrough now the game was a bargain and the game is excellent and I'm still coming back to watch videos and streams of it... Suffice to say I'm obsessed with this masterpiece
The way the emotions are conveyed on the characters is masterful. Great job by the mocap/voice actors. This makes the game even better than before, which was something within itself.
Landi Smith god the voice actors are SO GOOD. I adored them, I think they all conveyed their characters perfectly. Specifically Aerith, Barret, and Hojo. Turks as well. God damn I love all the voices in this game. I played with English voices for reference.
@@sniperbrosky I'll go so far as to say Britt Barron put out an AWARD-WINNING performance in this game as Tifa. If she doesn't get some kind of award for this, I'll be pissed.
Just got my platinum at 105 hours. Hard mode was tough and mentally taxing at times, but I moslty had fun with it. It really brings out the potential of both the combat and materia system. This remake is everything I wanted and more, as a diehard fan of the OG I simply cannot wait for the next game... which is gonna take a while.
@@phant0mdummy No not really. They're not going to produce the game from the ground up, but instead use some resources and assets from the first part to ease things better.
@@jojoversus1100 Yeah, but it would be stupid not using the assets and going from the group up. Because it's gonna take ages. Something to expecr from SE themselves lol
I feel like they might be going a similar route to the ReBuild of Evangelion movies, where the first movie was mostly the same as the first part of the series but with just enough little changes to show something's not quite "right", from there the next movies went totaly off the rails from the original Eva series.
One of the reasons why I love this channel so much is that you can see how much Jirard loves games and for FF7 especially, you can see it in his eyes, he’s in bliss talking about it and it’s so contiguous, it’s makes me really happy to see I creator actually love what he’s doing 😊
When you are crawling through stuff the game is actually loading. I think with part 2 being designed for machines with SSDs and far more ram this shouldn't be an issue.
I think the best word to describe this is Reboot. They acknowledge that the original game happened, and this is a new story based on that one and even sort of interacting with it. Also, those crawling sections? Those are loading screens. It's not so much a mechanic of the game as it is a device for the devs to hide loading screens. And I appreciate it, even though there were a great many of them through the game.
I'm so happy to see someone gush about this game. I'm really sick of spoiled fanboys nitpicking aspects of the game, be it presentation gameplay or *gasp* that it dared to go outside the box and not repeat the original verbatim. This is an unprecented (seriously, what other classic massive jrpg has been remade to AAA standards in your lifetime?) breathtaking accomplishment. The amazing characters of FF7 came to life in a way I never thought I'd see, and the respect for the source material is evident in every nook and cranny of this game. Midgar was recreated in epic fashion, and all of the locals are brimming with details and nods to the original. The soundtrack is incredible, and they went further with it then they had to with the OST being a whopping 6 cds long, for just the first part. Some of the gameplay was just OK and parts of the exploration and puzzle solving was tedius and not fun, but so what it was an amazing game and i will be replaying it for the rest of my life. And with the *spoilers* fact that we don't know what direction the story will go on for part 2 I an actually be excited for new suprises and events.
I think this looks like a very good game. But I'm not buying it. Because if I do I'll want to buy part 2 and 3 for full price as well and I'm not wasting my money like that. I'll wait for a collection
@Snow begone I'm a bit confused. Are you mad that fascism is portrayed as evil or that an oppressive undemocratic government is referred to as fascist? Because, you know, both are correct using current vocabulary.
@Snow begone Makes a suggestion about skill trees that makes no logical sense. ...Complains about the RPG elements being thin. (Seriously, what do you even mean with that, a tree where each skill has six different descriptions depending on which weapon is equipped?) Not all RPGs need to use the western branching self-insert character morality model for dialogue. Sometimes you're just given a role and have to play it out like in a stage play. The jRPG subgenre in general is more about the ensemble cast than the single main protagonist's decisions. (And unlocking weapon abilities for general use takes almost no time at all if you just want to stick to one weapon, and aren't required to beat the game in the slightest anyway.) Also, an insurgent eco-terrorist group fighting a dictatorship run by a corporation that has a monopoly on all business within the government and beyond that wants to use said group as a scapegoat to reignite conflict with a foreign power isn't political at all, but saying the word "fascist" is? Right, sure. The original story, particularly in the Midgar section of the game, was political by its very nature to begin with. Are you trying to say this somehow changes the dynamic from the original game, or do you just not like the concept itself? I'm not even sure if SJW was a term yet when FF7 classic came out (not that the ideology described by the term SJW didn't exist all the same anyway, just a statement on how out of touch blaming the game for something integral to its core concept as if it were an additional element really is). Finally, finding dead bodies with Sephiroth's unique blade sticking out of them in the original game was kind of a plot hole in original, or at least kind pretty ridiculous in retrospect, since logically if Sephi were to actually do that, he must have had to backtrack after the party passed through each time to go pick his weapon back up. From the party's perspective, believing Sephi to be the actual person with a real weapon, that would be the logical scenario of what was going on. Other things do legitimately take the story off the rails, but the simple act of Sephi stabbing the president in front of the party instead of offscreen or of Jenova leaving a goop trail instead of a trail of slain bodies hardly really effects things at all (and saves the game from getting an M rating on the ESRB with the higher fidelity graphics). Sorry I rambled off on your statements so much, but they just didn't make much sense to me as actual complaints. The game has plenty of things that can be points of criticism, and I agree with you that criticism can be a good thing when properly applied, but I don't feel like your comment was a very good example of that.
@@elias.t That line was jarring for me as well - mainly because fascism as a concept shouldn't exist in the FF7 world. Shinra may be de facto fascist, but it shouldn't be described as such in-universe. Fascism is a real-world political ideology that is rooted in our own history and doesn't belong in a fantasy world. The same would be true of communism if some NPC were to randomly quip about it in another fantasy game. It just takes you out of the experience.
What I really love about this review is that I can feel the passion from you. I think that makes it worth it, from your voice to the way you describe everything. It feels like I was listening to a friend rather than a reviewer and I love that, because if you like a game, I like that you aren't afraid to show it. Thank you for such amazing content all these years
Man, you can just feel the love for Final Fantasy 7 ooze out of Jirard in this video. This kind of passion, combined with explorative, critical thinking about the game, is what we need to critique video games as its own art form, á la literature or movies. Thanks, Jirard!
I played this through my parents divorce when I was 12. I put over 100 hours in, and had a gold chocobo with all the summons. I was clueless what I was doing but I wish still had that save file. I still had so far to go
Why do people complain that average 50 hours is short. It's nowhere near short. 100 if you want to do everything. Also. Not everyone has that much time to play games. It's fine. It's long enough. Not everygame need to be 100s upon 100s hours. That's really unfair towards Devs to develop stuff that the majority of players will not play. Imo.
Because people are desperate for faults so they can continue their crusade against those "EVIL" monsters at SE who only care about lining their pockets!! SO EVILLLLLL
@@corn8542 shame its price=time. It should be more about quality vs quantity. It's kinda mental to think some people want games to offer like 100h of gameplay for 60$\50£ etc. Kinda unfair towards Devs.
What I loved: -Character models and animations are beautiful -Voice acting is great (Although I miss the old cast, I love the new cast as well) -Character dialogue/interactions are charming and feel more natural in comparison to games like KH -Expansion of Midgar -Aerith -The music -Combat is a lot more fun than expected -Customization (I love switching equipment around to suit the situation) -Decently challenging -The ability to restart from BEFORE an encounter really saved my skin if I wasn't prepared. -Game overs bringing you to before an encounter also alleviated my chronic save-scumming. -The ability to save anywhere -Aerith What I didn't love -Pacing forced to a crawl with all the forced walking & sidling -Chapter 9's arm cranes. There is a lot of variable things in Wall Market, and the cranes are annoying to go through every time you want to try a different route. -The entirety of chapter 11. "Oh man, we got to hurry to help Barret and co, but let's take our time slogging through this out-of-place ghost stage. -Dementors/Heartless (Couldn't the changing fate aspect be done in a different way?) -I wish there was more Roche -Game overs are little more than a slap on the wrist Although there were plenty of things I wasn't a fan of, this is probably one of my favorite games now. No game is without flaw, and there are definitely games with fewer flaws imo, But as with all things one loves, I acknowledge the shortcomings but love it all the same. Can't wait for what's to come.
I have one issue and that is after doing the combat simulator, I finally realized how fantastic the mesh between the classic turn-based and action rpg really is. I had a distaste at first, but after unlocking everything and all the weapon abilities, I realized how often I'd menu and it started to feel turn-based and fell in love. What's the issue? Now that I'm in love with the combat flow, there is no good or consistent end game bosses or activities to use all the fantastic combat on. However, this is not entirely a take away since there will be further installments for the game, which hopefully has a great and meaningful open world expanding upon the fantastic openness feeling the original FF7 still holds up very well ~20 years later.
I just have to say this is the first final fantasy game I’ve ever played, and it is now my favorite game ever. I am in love with film, and I found the way this story was crafted used a lot of techniques normally used by some of the greatest directors and screenwriters in the industry. I was so invested throughout and feel as though the characters are close friends of mine. Cloud has become one of my favorite video game characters, as watching a merc with no loyalties change in a realistic and well paced manner to someone who is more concerned about others than himself was incredibly well executed. I love this game and it will probably always be one of my favorites, so glad to have the opportunity to play it when everything else in the world seems bleak.
I bought the original 1997 game on PS4 and it's running very well, I'll probably get this remake after I get my taxes or something, but the original is only like $8 right now and I have no nostalgia attachments to it at all. I used to tell everyone I didn't like turn based combat games when I was a kid, played endless amounts of Starcraft and Goldeneye 64 then Diablo Counterstrike etc. But the original FF7 is actually really nice to play, it's simple and slow but in a quaint way, nice to play in the background if you're doing other stuff on the computer etc, but then it gets going and its very addictive, moreso than many new games I play. Might be worth a try while you wait for the next FF7 remake
I have played red dead 2 and also loved the story and gameplay of that, haven’t played Uncharted yet but did play The Last of Us and it’s also one of my favorites. Thanks for the great recommendations!
TEFFT PATTERN ya after falling in love with the characters I will definitely be playing the original FF7. I just started playing Final Fantasy 4 and and am going to try and work my way through the series. I’m about 75% done with IV so far and am pretty surprised by how much I like the story, the turn based combat is also good and the system they use is sort of face paced witch is great. Overall, just really excited to get into Final Fantasy as a series, and have a new found respect for the creative genius that goes into the games. Not to mention the music is incredible, even the SNES Final Fantasy IV music has some haunting tunes that got me in the feels at certain times
I’m surprised you didn’t mention biggs’ voice actor making a reappearance from a previous final fantasy when talking about the voice actresses, but Biggs is Balthier from 12
Maximilian really did go out of his way to stay spoiler free too, he even lied to everyone and said that people already spoiled him a little to make people think they would be wasting their time trying to spoil him, I'd if you did the same, but that was a big brain move. Glad to see the two of you had really enjoyed it.
And I love how he refused to watch the final trailer before release, so I did the same since I could tell the marketing team was ruining stuff. I've never been more invested in a youtuber's journey with a game than i have with Max and his love for FF7. And I'm a fighting gamer too lol
i did the same because square has a habit of spoiling entire plots/key points in their trailers... like KH3 even tho it was still bad, it probably would have been slightly better if i didn’t watch all those trailers. ff7R trailer free for me was sooo satisfying and i will never watch any close to the release ever again
Ok so after beating the game last night I watched the "final trailer" for the first time just now.......HOLY FUCK what were they thinking!?? Can you imagine being a storyteller/director and handing all these clips of your hard work into the hands of a marketing team that just does not give a shit!? Seriously Square?
Grey hair can happen anytime, kind of genetically related. But it could also very much be stress, i dont even want to imagine being an American right now lol
I personally never grew up with Final Fantasy, so I don’t have a strong nostalgic attachment with 7 personally, however I have become a huge fan of the series throughout the years, I played 4 on the DS and loved it and I really enjoyed 15. I am currently 18 and I am very excited for FFVII remake to be my first true experience with the game, I do have the original on my switch and I played through half of it so far, and it’s a ton of fun, I’m gonna try playing them back to back, but I was really looking forward to the remake being my true first experience with the story! I am currently downloading it from my disc at this very moment, and I cannot wait to get started!
One of the more brilliant aspects of this game I think is the entire feel of the pillar sequence. The game actually managed to convince me I might stop it this time around. By this point in the game I had kind of cottoned onto the whole "things are slightly different, something is off" aspect, and everything with the whispers, and even a few lines that Aerith says- it all manages to add up to a feeling that you might change fate this time. This pretty much trebled my anxiety and desperation as I climbed the pillar. Made it a very exciting sequence and I'm pretty sure I would just have been depressed playing through it otherwise. Also serves a dual purpose of making you absolutely resent the whispers to an incredible degree. Like I didn't hate what they represented or that they were in the game, I just really wanted to put the boots to them and possibly save some of these characters I've been invested in for 20 years. Which, credit where credit is due, seemed to have been the exact intent. They make me excited, about the possibilities of a better future for these characters.
This was my first FF game and..... i fell in looooove, haaard. I'm somewhat glad i didn't play the original because i went in not expecting anything and was completely blown away. I'm so happy this game exists. I can look forward to trying out other FF games :D
@@AzumangaFan13 It was redesigned back then to show how important this sword is, and why Angeal never used it, to give the "used" look it had later on more of a weight. Storytelling with objects you could say. But it's okay to not like that version.
i had a feeling this was gonna be filled with spoilers so i finnished it right before starting this video and i will now continue to complete ff7 remake
This was my first time really playing FF7 . I played the original for maybe an hour on a friend's PlayStation. But this game blew me away. It's been a long time since I've played a game that actually made feel so many emotions from it's story. I can't wait for part two.
And now we're here today, with Rebirth already announced and the second part almost put amd around the corner. Have a great day. I love both the old and new ff7 😁👍
I am a firm believer that there is no such thing as "too linear". People complaining about linearity has never made sense to me. Linearity is not, nor has it ever been, a detriment to rpg games. People don't play rpgs to explore, they play them to experience a well told story. If you can put in open world exploration like in Skyrim or The Witcher 3, that's great, and it can certainly have a huge appeal. But that does not, by default, make all games that lack those elements inferior. FF7 remake and Final Fantasy X are my two favorite final fantasy games, and they are both two of the most linear games in the series. Linearity is perfectly fine so long as the rest of the game makes up for it with characters and narrative, and Remake in particular does that in spades.
agreeded but i do hope by the end of this whole series we can explore more of midgar and the world that ff7 has to offer. even if it is an on the rails experience
This is absolute nonsense. Original RPG games were all about exploration, and little about story. And JRPG games came well before Western style RPGs. FF actually shifted the series from focusing on gameplay to focus on story (which in turn influenced later JRPGs), however until FF7 and afterward, most of the FF games had quite a bit of exploration. Even OG FF7 had a lot of exploration past about the 6 hour point. OG Midgar was a glorified tutorial and once you got out of the city for a while, there was a decent amount of exploration. FF games actually were notable in that they did a wonderful job gradually opening up the world for exploration while also telling a story. So don't say "People don't play rpgs to explore". That's simply not true, especially not historically.
FF7R was my first FF back in April. Best decision I’ve made. Got me back into gaming and weirdly into Souls games lol. Recently played the OG and watched FF7 compilation and is a huge fan now
To me the "upgrade system" reminds me a lot of Final Fantasy 9, where you have to equip weapons and armors and use them long enough to learn the skill they possess before moving on to new weapons and armor. They then also combine THAT with ff8's upgrade system of upgrading weapons like the gunblade using those volumes and parts. It's kind of a cool nod to 7, 8 and 9
I've always wondered how cloud, aeris, and yuffie found themselves in traverse town, this reboot will show us! We are going to meet our ol' pals Sora, Donald Duck, and Goofy!
I am absolutely not a completionist. I like to play a game's main scenario and maybe do some side content if it catches my interest, but I almost never come close to anything resembling completion. This game is an exception. I'm going FULL FUCKING COMPLETIONIST on this game and loving every moment of it.
Been playing this for 15 hours now and I like it but the amount of padding is crazy. The shimmy walk, my god the shimmying between crates and holds drives me mad! The hold triangle for 5 seconds just because is also silly but I do love the way they flushed out the world of midgar.
@bronchoped1 Will probably just as long if not longer. While processing power increases, so does graphics and fidelity. And on consoles, they usually focus on the latter first anyways. And of course thanks to these hallway load screens, it make even the PC version load at the same speed as any console, regardless of how much more powerful that PC might be.
@@klonoa7560 the leap in graphical fidelity probably won't be that much compared to the increase in loading speed. So I would say loading would be faster, not the same
@@PlagueJ I think they were referencing the "hidden" loading features making the game feel like it is dragging to go anywhere. You want to visit the moogle kid? Time to shimmy for 10 seconds while the game loads. I'm undecided on the newer loading method vs. the old fashioned loading screen though.
I wonder if the whole thing with the whispers and the remake was to try to stop the game from deviating from the original and whispers disappear at the end of the mig guard chapter which is the end of the game does that mean in the next installment or later installments it's possible for areth to live instead of being killed by Sephiroth?
@@miamisasquatch is that really what you want? Aerith in remake is such an engaging character I can see the appeal and I'm not necessarily against it, but I'm not so sure how that would work in the final act of the tale. Would it ruin the theme of the game in some ways?
Was thinking the same thing. Maybe they'll set it up in a way where your actions determine what happens to her and maybe someone else dies instead? That'd be a first for a FF game and pretty cool
Love your videos man! But I’m gonna wait a couple days for this one! Almost on chapter 18 and I have not been anywhere with spoilers for this game since day 1. As soon as I’m done, I will watch this and can’t wait for it. A 55 minute long completionist episode! Thank you! Keep up the amazing work!
Just finished it last weekend it took me almost 4 months since I only play on the weekends but I really liked it, I never played the original and im not a final fantasy fan but this was a great game.
An ex friend had a falling out with him and threatened legal action unless his likeness was removed from all content Jirard owns, including completionist and beard bros
I’m just going to add on because it wasn’t just a friend, but really his former business partner who wrote large portions of the script split off since he felt he was losing creative control to Jacques and Jirard. Huge falling, and then years later he threatened legal action because he felt that it was unfair that his likeness, acting and writing were still generating income without any royalties for himself. It’s a complicated situation, and I don’t really like to take a strong side either way, but I’m happy with how Jirard handled things
nah, they are building up a way to make you THINK you can save flower girl just to take her away when you think you have. and THAT is how you recreate the heartbreak of an iconic scene
MrBlueeyes575 they’re building up for a way to make you think you can save her but what they’re gonna do is they’re gonna show you that even if you defeat destiny aerith has to die in every timeline so they’re not only gonna kill her with cloud but in zacks timeline as well making it hurt even worse
I doubt it, makes more sense that since people tried to save aerith in so many ways I think it's a pretty obvious fake out, so that aerith seems like she'll be saved but probably willingly gives up her life because her existence is screwing things up in the world. It's a pretty tired time travel trope. The whole point of the game is dealing and accepting loss, so its doubtful but she might live in a different timeline with zack.
@@XLR108 - Yeah, he actually tried to complete Persona 5, but the game pulled a bullshit card and decided that the game must be finished 6 times to be technically completed.
I LOVED this game so much! I was already a pretty hardcore fan of Final Fantasy 7, so I was beyond hyped for the remake and it just blew me away. It took me exactly 1 month to platinum the whole thing. I just couldn't get enough. The game is GORGEOUS and I cannot get enough of the soundtrack. I haven't been this thirsty for Cloud since 2007 when Advent Children came out. I adore all of the expanded content. Especially the entire Wall Market section. I never thought I would see the day where I play as Cloud Strife...dancing. I was nervous because I was wondering how they would handle the Cloud-in-a-dress subplot, but oh man....they nailed it! It went from being a dated, vaguely homophobic joke to an all-out celebration of not fitting into gender stereotypes. It's honestly quite beautiful and made Cloud and Aerith's relationship that much more endearing to me. Although.....the Hell House broke my sanity. I don't know how I coped with Hard Mode, but I did! The whole experience actually inspired me to finally play Final Fantasy 15 now all the DLC was out for it and I'm a bit obsessed with it....currently on 500+ hours and that's not including the time I spent 100% completing each DLC.
43:06 Wait, what? People are actually saying this about the Remake? Bruh, I have a 100% all achievements run of the OG VII on steam that clocks in at around 91 hours total playtime. My time spent on 100% the Remake took me 110. There is PLENTY to do here if you wish to GET everything the game has to offer, just like with the original game. Sure the remake has A LOT of busy medial tasks that can be seen as a slog after the first time you experience them. But so did OG VII when it first released. Not many people seem to remember just how HARD it was to control most of the mini-games in VII. Sure it was great that they existed as a challenge for something to do, but almost all the side content in Golden Saucer was broken AF, save for Chocobo racing. The snowboarding game, the holo-fight game, the submarine game etc. And even with racing you had to level up and breed better chocobo's to stand a chance on the harder difficulties of racing. So I can't really take that teh game was too short as an rpg seriously. If anything games like P5 DON'T allow for you to just do the main story beats because of how the game is structured around a calendar based system. You have to literally play it one day at a time and then in the down time between palaces you have to do teh sidecontent basically. a regular playthrough of P5 takes at least 100 hours mandatory and imo is the REAL slog LOL
@@AlessandroAltosoleChannel The sephiroth you fight def. has to be from the future or even just a manifestation of the whispers. I'm leaning towards from the future. At least his consciousness possessing the jenovah clones. Remember that current timeline Sephy would still be entombed in the northern crater. The fact that he grows his signature one wing from advent children kinda cements this also. The three whispers you fight are also confirmed to be a manifestation of future kadaj, loz, and yazoo.
I'm surprised this is such a big deal for all these naysayers. What else would you call it? "Final Fantasy VII In-Depth Story With Twists And Better Combat And Graphics Part 1" doesn't exactly roll of the tongue.
I finally beat the game a few months ago and now you're reminding me how much fun I had, I do want go back and play hard mode now, except I'd rather do it with Intergrade, bc if I'm going to replay the game, I might as well have some new content to experience. Still though, amazing game. I will admit there were moments where my love of the original got in the way of me enjoying the remake. Certain scenes, little details here and there, some of them felt off for me initially. But part of that is just me, not really an issue with the game itself. I do agree though, the train graveyard dragged ass.
you know, that would actually be a good way to explain why you are back to being weak in the next one. you start the game with several maxed matiera and summons for the 1st chapter and then you get to chapter 2 going through a forest to the next location and boom, Yuffie (maybe there are several other Wutai with her) literally steals all your good weapons armor and matiera and you don't find her again until at least halfway to 3/4 of the way through the game at which point she has either already sold your stuff or it has been distributed among the Wutai forces (also you've pretty much replaced most of it by this point anyway).
I didnt go into ff vii (original) blind on my first playthrough (it is impossible to do so in the modern era with such an iconic game), so even getting yuffie ASAP i had no issues. My deep pockets paid off, so who cares about the lack of magic when you've accumulated so many items that do the same thing on your way through midgar? :P
This reminds me beautifully of the time I was sitting on your sofa at 2am, and you were explaining in passionate depth why FF7 was one of your favourite things ever. Feels like this game was made solely for you.

Yes...im not a fan of the title because its a bait and switch. Even calling it "Remade" is better than "Remake". I honestly feel marketing got involved and messed up the title.
I liked Jim Sterling's take on the title "Remake" - that it's actually Sephiroth attempting to remake the events of 7 and undo his destiny of failure
Mario Castaneda ooh I like that because I had a similar theory due to the subtle and not so subtle references to the original story
i agree... i think that this game is actually a continuation of the original game, because S and A don't actually die...in fact, i suspect that all those times S has appeared in other games have been him attempting to return, like he did through GEOSTYGMA, and this time A is trying to make sure he stays DEAD dead...
Exactly, it makes perfect sense, its not remake as "Square Enix is making the game again", but "Sephiroth trying to make another fate"

The crawling and slow walking parts are masking loading screens and I'd take slow walking over a load screen any day.
On the down side, it makes even the most powerful PCs load these sections at the same speed as the slowest console. A bit of an interesting situation.
I love it.
I'm a new fan... Didn't play the old one (even though I'm 40) but I'm LOVING the remake. I just hit chapter 17
Glad you're enjoying it! :)
I really recommend the original game. But the remake is still great
I've played most of the main Titled Final fantasy games I honestly think 7 is one of the weaker entries in the series (2 and 8 being worse) it's a decent game though the only reason I'd recommend playing the original over the remake is so that players know what the story is but the Remake in my opinion blows the original out of the sky in basically everything including story and writing and music and it's honestly my top 5 final fantasy
The first video game adaptation... of a video game.
GENIUS NOJIMA
No it’s a reboot

Assuming you've finished the original game by now, which one did you like better, remake or the original?

I'm hoping that's the case. With how much the theme of "defying fate" has been a foundation for the stories of the last few Final Fantasy games, I'd like to see a twist where it turns out it was better to follow destiny's path.

Have you played it yourself, peeb? I'd be really interested in watching you talk about it in a video
This game reminds me more of a reincarnation than a remake, blows my mind.
Yeah it greatly expands on everything and midgar feels like the massive megacity that it is
The remake's soundtrack is just phenomenal. Collapsed Expressway is my favorite so far.

@@johnnybadass1328
I'm not sure if he could have.
45:35 That's what happens when they make games so high fidelity. They need to make a bunch of crawl segments to hide their loading times.
Its also likely due to the ps4 being very dated hardware at this point
better then having to load every room with a black screen like OG ff7
@CK Gaming Channel still better than the Xbox one s which was released after the one then they released the one x... But how dare sony not put a new system out for cash grabs.
Yep, and thats has been a core design of videogames since the original FF7, the start of the 3d graphics. Thats exactly what the next generation of consoles is trying to solve, to finally get rid of those slow segments that give the game time to load.
@@Carlisho maybe thats why I don't care. I dealt with dial up. Although I do sometimes wish I could not be controlling a super slow person after I have beaten the game.

Other non-RPG games such as The Last of Us and God of War were also linear as hell but people still loved them nonetheless.
I'm sorry sir, the mental gymnastics are over there.
Well, in the Ultimania interview with Nomura, Nojima, and Kitase, it's confirmed that the "Remake" title has dual meanings, so you're probably right.
So more so remade?
i agree... i think that this game is actually a continuation of the original game, because S and A don't actually die...in fact, i suspect that all those times S has appeared in other games have been him attempting to return, like he did through GEOSTYGMA, and this time A is trying to make sure he stays DEAD dead...
The Completionist is seriously the best/most enjoyable show here on youtube. It is just so well made and i really appreciate the time Jirard and the other members of The Completionist team put in to each episode to make something so great for us all to enjoy.

Ive never played any FF games. Would you recommend it for a complete noob to the series after playing it?

Play the original
I absolutely ADORE this game. Square really put a lot of love into it. Personally, I'm glad it doesn't really "end" here, because I've a feeling the next installments could be even better. This is more a companion to the original than anything, the detail is astounding and special kudos to the voice actors for bringing the FF7 cast to life.
It feels like it's been 84 years since this remake was announced.
Nathaniel Foga
I don’t know if you know this but the game started development in 2015, somebody spread the news that they started development of a Ff7 remake and they had to announce it soon so that people can witness the announcement of a remake of one of the best games ever naturally instead of via a leak.
Gabe García
Excellent.
Matthew Fronsoe
Oh I didn’t know about that. I’m in my late teens right now so I was a baby back then. I started looking into video game media, Nintendo directs and state of play and E3 etc in 2017 so anything before that I have no idea about. Thanks for the info, I’ll do some research on that right now.
Matthew Fronsoe
The remake was indeed my first Final Fantasy game.
I played with English voices for reference.
yeh
@@sniperbrosky I'll go so far as to say Britt Barron put out an AWARD-WINNING performance in this game as Tifa. If she doesn't get some kind of award for this, I'll be pissed.

Playing "Hollow" in the background still makes me sad... the feels man.

I feel like they might be going a similar route to the ReBuild of Evangelion movies, where the first movie was mostly the same as the first part of the series but with just enough little changes to show something's not quite "right", from there the next movies went totaly off the rails from the original Eva series.

It's a sequel

(And unlocking weapon abilities for general use takes almost no time at all if you just want to stick to one weapon, and aren't required to beat the game in the slightest anyway.)
Also, an insurgent eco-terrorist group fighting a dictatorship run by a corporation that has a monopoly on all business within the government and beyond that wants to use said group as a scapegoat to reignite conflict with a foreign power isn't political at all, but saying the word "fascist" is?

Also, the slow crawling parts I've heard are actually a hidden loading screen.
What I loved:
-Character models and animations are beautiful
-Voice acting is great (Although I miss the old cast, I love the new cast as well)
-Character dialogue/interactions are charming and feel more natural in comparison to games like KH
-Expansion of Midgar
-Aerith
-The music
-Combat is a lot more fun than expected
-Customization (I love switching equipment around to suit the situation)
-Decently challenging
-The ability to restart from BEFORE an encounter really saved my skin if I wasn't prepared.
-Game overs bringing you to before an encounter also alleviated my chronic save-scumming.
-The ability to save anywhere
-Aerith
What I didn't love
-Pacing forced to a crawl with all the forced walking & sidling
-Chapter 9's arm cranes. There is a lot of variable things in Wall Market, and the cranes are annoying to go through every time you want to try a different route.
-The entirety of chapter 11. "Oh man, we got to hurry to help Barret and co, but let's take our time slogging through this out-of-place ghost stage.
-Dementors/Heartless (Couldn't the changing fate aspect be done in a different way?)
-I wish there was more Roche
-Game overs are little more than a slap on the wrist
Although there were plenty of things I wasn't a fan of, this is probably one of my favorite games now. No game is without flaw, and there are definitely games with fewer flaws imo, But as with all things one loves, I acknowledge the shortcomings but love it all the same. Can't wait for what's to come.
I loved aerith too. Very much.
Lucas Crane I’m glad you feel that way
You should play Uncharted 4. Bet movie like game... or red dead 2
Those "little cutscenes" i belive they are intended to load up the new scenes while doing them.

“Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 2: The First Soldier”
I really wish that was what The First Solider ended up being xD. I don't think anyone could've predicted what it ended up as.
The music in this game is the best I ever heard. I beat it on hard and beat the secret boss. Best $60 spent

If a game is fun you wont notice how linear it is, but if its boring then you'll notice it and wish it wasn't as linear.
Some of my favorite games are extremely linear. Having a big world just for the sake of it is boring. The world should big as big as it needs to be
I play RPGs to explore to so speak for yourself
FF7R was my first FF back in April. Best decision I’ve made. Got me back into gaming and weirdly into Souls games lol. Recently played the OG and watched FF7 compilation and is a huge fan now
Early enough Jirard might see this! Been a fan for years! Love you dude!
It's kind of a cool nod to 7, 8 and 9
As a massive fan of the original FF7 I absolutely hate the remake & the changes that Enix did. Absolutely fu**ed this once iconic game.
The shimmy/crawl is how many modern games do loading screens. Tomb Raider, Fallen Order, FF7R, etc.
So I would say loading would be faster, not the same
Padding? What the fuck are you playing? Lol There was very little.
They've at least given us the hope
@@miamisasquatch is that really what you want? Aerith in remake is such an engaging character I can see the appeal and I'm not necessarily against it, but I'm not so sure how that would work in the final act of the tale. Would it ruin the theme of the game in some ways?
yes there is a chance she will live, but there is also a chance she won't or someone else will die.
Didn't get into Final Fantasy till FF8. I played all the main games since but never went back for 7 till this game came out and I'm loving it.
Just finished it last weekend it took me almost 4 months since I only play on the weekends but I really liked it, I never played the original and im not a final fantasy fan but this was a great game.
Let's be honest, this is much more of a reimagining than a remake
You're not wrong, but it's still an amazing game.
You know how much fan outrage there would be if they were completely honest?
It's more of a sequel for me
or a Remix
Edward Him oh yeah. Because “let’s lie to them” is so much better lmao
I still can't believe they gave that guy from Smash his own game. Cloud has come a long way since then...
Idk bout you, but I'm waiting for them to make a game about joker
@@christopherherr7561 Well he's already got his own movie. Although it really deviates from the original character.
What about that Snake guy? Might have potential
That Buster Sword in the background is damn sick!!!!
I’ve always been curious. Why did he have to delete his first 120 videos?
An ex friend had a falling out with him and threatened legal action unless his likeness was removed from all content Jirard owns, including completionist and beard bros
I was about to say he should get them back
@@theguyinthere he's doing it with New Game Plus
I’m just going to add on because it wasn’t just a friend, but really his former business partner who wrote large portions of the script split off since he felt he was losing creative control to Jacques and Jirard. Huge falling, and then years later he threatened legal action because he felt that it was unfair that his likeness, acting and writing were still generating income without any royalties for himself. It’s a complicated situation, and I don’t really like to take a strong side either way, but I’m happy with how Jirard handled things
@@Ampion1337 thanks for adding for clarity. Im not good at explaining the whole sitch.
They are totally building up for a way to save flower girl
That's my fear.
nah, they are building up a way to make you THINK you can save flower girl just to take her away when you think you have. and THAT is how you recreate the heartbreak of an iconic scene
or tell the player that its just something that has to happen. the moment is iconic but its iconic because of its place in everyone's memory.
Just got the Platinum and completed the Play Log. One of the best completion experiences I've ever had with a game. Great video Jirard!
Speaking of Persona, when are we gonna get some completions of Shin Megami Tensei games Jirard?!
in fairness those games are really long so it may take some time
@@XLR108 - Yeah, he actually tried to complete Persona 5, but the game pulled a bullshit card and decided that the game must be finished 6 times to be technically completed.
Isaac Swindle he would never get through them , they’re too long
I LOVED this game so much!
Sephiroth is from the future and it's a 'REMAKE' of the past, hence the title.
No, he knows the future, which the game tells you it's written in stone
He changes the future because he already knows how things should happen
@@AlessandroAltosoleChannel The sephiroth you fight def. has to be from the future or even just a manifestation of the whispers. I'm leaning towards from the future. At least his consciousness possessing the jenovah clones. Remember that current timeline Sephy would still be entombed in the northern crater. The fact that he grows his signature one wing from advent children kinda cements this also. The three whispers you fight are also confirmed to be a manifestation of future kadaj, loz, and yazoo.
Michael Langley daaamn , if its true its actually something i’ll look forward
That doesn't change the fact the people got baited into believing it was a remake instead of a sequel reboot.
Why does it get me every time when I hear the first few notes of Aerith's theme?
When you start talking to her and it does that half second flash forward with the white materia bouncing I was not prepared.
I'm pretty sure the way square describes the "remake" part is more like a "re crafting" like actually re structuring it. I think its very interesting
The Remake in the title is not about what the game is, is it's subtitle. Also, I don't see it as an adaptation, but a Sequel to the original.
But the title is literally FFVII REMAKE
@@crazyfire9470 Yeah, and usually remakes don't have REMAKE in their titles.
@@crazyfire9470 It's REMAKE fate. Aka, change the course of history by sepy.

How does it feel to Complete FF7 Remake when Yuffie is going to steal it all on the PS5 as soon as you leave Midgar lol
you know, that would actually be a good way to explain why you are back to being weak in the next one. you start the game with several maxed matiera and summons for the 1st chapter and then you get to chapter 2 going through a forest to the next location and boom, Yuffie (maybe there are several other Wutai with her) literally steals all your good weapons armor and matiera and you don't find her again until at least halfway to 3/4 of the way through the game at which point she has either already sold your stuff or it has been distributed among the Wutai forces (also you've pretty much replaced most of it by this point anyway).
While it could work in context that would feel pretty weak.
Would be funnier to add Materia Mixing as a mechanic, back from Crisis core.
@@cullenlatham2366 ….you realize they'll probably have her steal all your items as well as matiera, right?
