Final Fantasy X is what solidified the JRPG genre for me. With its cinematic elements, improvements on previous games, it opened up and showed the potential of the Final Fantasy Universe. And the Final Fantasy X HD remake helps gives this game the attention it deserves with an visual update, and many many new challenges I'll have to complete. This game holds a special place in my heart, and be sure to stay until the end because it gets a bit sappy. Thank you to everyone who has supported me, tuned in each week, and kept this dream going. I'm forever grateful for each and every one of you and still can't believe that we made it to one million subscribers.
Let me know what you thought about my Final Fantasy X HD review!

Love this video of FFX and I appreciate your videos as well! Keep up the awesome work!
Thanks man, forever flying the FFX flag!
It's ridiculous some people don't get how that scene is supposed to be ackward and they are forcing themselves to laugh... also, they laugh normally RIGHT AFTER because they relieved so much stress.
Exactly Yuna knows what awaits her at journeys end and Tidus is in a strange land far from home (and as far he knows his time) and everyone he knows they're both terrified and overwhelmed.
A fuck it kind of laugh a live or die kinda laugh
But you have to admit the memes are hilarious
You can say that’s the point, but the point is still poorly acted and completely nonsensical.
@@MrMetalforever5 they literally laugh like normal people at the end of the scene... of course the voice acting isn't spectacular in FFX, but it's not trash either.
@@nataliesmith5393 The memes are glorious

As much as I loved FF7 remake, I really would like a turn based FF again and a setting like X’s where it’s not tied to modern day or medieval
Me too. It’s a shame because I beat FFX a few months ago, and they just announced FFXVI which is yet another action RPG. I want them to go back to the series’s roots, but I feel like it’s never gonna happen at this point
@Zeeko Zappo Games need to update with the times.... you can't just keep making the same type of game year on year and expect to stay relevant. Most people don't want turn based combat outside of Japan, they want something a bit more complex and stylistic... its not about being Vapid - you can still have open flowing combat and a complex story and refined battle system that provides enough flexibility and challenge to be exciting.
@Zeeko Zappo Just because you want to believe everyone is dumber than you for enjoying something that you don't... doesn't make it true.
Just because a game doesn't have turn based combat doesn't mean it can't have depth and doesn't make it garbage - FF7 remake has a lot of depth and flexibility with the Materia system and the new ATB system - it has a reasonably lowish floor to make it appealing but it has a high ceiling if you want to push it to its limits and try to challenge yourself... It has depth especially as it goes into more detail about Midgar, wall market, etc than the original did.
Its not just about appealing to the "Masses", due to the inherent change in the RPG market with more games focusing on fast and Fluid combat in an open world rather than a slower turn based system they have adapted - games have changed over the past 10 years and you have to move with them unfortunately.
But more importantly just because the game doesn't appeal to you doesn't make it Vapid/Bland.
I still love the original final fantasies (I have every FF ever made) but I can also appreciate the newer ones as well.
@Zeeko Zappo Again just because you don't like it doesn't make it Vapid or Trash. The original FF7 story wasn't anything special either - it was an anime storyline just like almost every final fantasy... they are anime storylines (usually with nods to Environmental impact or Corruption).
You also have to remember its only a third of the story compared to the full story we got in the original FF7 so the 2 aren't comparable as its not a self contained story - you are looking at a 3rd of the painting.
You say there is nothing wrong with enjoying "Garbage" but then proceed to call anyone who does enjoy "Garbage" dumb... which implies there is something wrong with it.
The game was smaller than the original... which is why there is significantly less variety in Materia, characters and abilities... bearing in mind in the original you had the basic varieties of Materia and couldn't access half of the characters when you were in Midgar (No Cid, No Yuffie, No Vincent and No Cait Sith) but this is why IMO it feels "watered down" because they are trying to limit everything based on what you had in the original game (Only Tifa, Barrett, Cloud and occasionally Aerith) whilst still trying to keep the game deep enough. I never said it was Clever or brilliant but it isn't cheap by any stretch of the imagination
The game has its flaws (I don't agree with everything they did) but I enjoyed the depth they gave in terms of Midgar and did enjoy the combat system, would I have liked the option of a turn based system... yes and I think that should have implemented it but trying to pretend the game is utter garbage is a bit of a stretch.
@UCX5b0yY4YfjJ39a_VBFZ0FA I read what you said "They’re looking to strictly appeal to the dumbed, vapid masses" thats you not calling people dumb then...
FF7's story wasn't that great, especially when you look at the section this game portrays which is the opening section... you are looking at 1 section of a story and claiming the entire story is better than this one unfinished section.
I meant FF7 is an anime story - which it is... its a quintessential anime story. My feelings aren't hurt at all - I just dont like when people imply that a game is dumb because they didn't like it or didn't enjoy it.
Grats on 1 mil! Here’s to 2 mil.

The Completionist thank you for being the only other person ive come across that has understood the laughing scene and didn't just trash it like a moron
I Know Right?!?
That scene was a very important moment in the character development between Tidus and Yuna
It was a terrible scene indeed, but the luca experience was magical theyre forgiven.
EVERYONE understands that scene.
It doesn't make it less awkward
I don't think anyone with a functioning brain couldn't see the significance of the scene or I would like to hope
I remember playing it at release together with my sister, she died 8 years ago.
After replaying the PC-port I really grasped for the first time what a grim dark setting the colorful world of Spira really is.
Man I’m sorry you lost your sister :( some of us have memories watching friends or family play it and some just played alone.
May your sister rest peacefully forever ♾️ & may her memory & spirit forever be a part of you! Another reason why this game is timeless and priceless!
Thanks guys!
The greatest thing about Final Fantasy X is that you can switch party members mid-battle. I feel that if Final Fantasy ever went back to turn based, they should make the battle system like X.
naah, evolve from X, keep the things like mid-battle switching and equipping but don't make it the same, that would be pointless, and if they go for a class/job swapping system they should evolve from X-2 (which yes sucked, but the gameplay itself was awesome, but music, story minigames suuuuuuucked)
Sadly I don’t think they ever will go back to turn based combat. I feel like they’ll all be a lot like 15 from now on which isn’t necessarily a bad thing I like the way they did combat in 15 but it needs some serious improvements
The one exception is in water fights. You can only use Riku, Tidus, and Wakka because the developers didn’t bother giving the other characters swimming animations
@@C24U_ Well... That and Tidas, Rikku, and Wakka are agile swimmers who practically live in the water, thus them being able to competently fight while swimming makes sense. Plus Yuna, Lulu, and Auron are wearing dresses and a robe(While only using one arm...) and just wouldn't seem like they fight well. Especially with Lulu using a doll and Yuna being a summoner...
Finally someone who thinks like me
13:08 THANK YOU! I HAVE BEEN SAYING THIS FOR YEARS! It is an awkward scene... BECAUSE IT IS MEANT TO BE AWKWARD! And also, the scene lasts maybe 30 seconds. People who point to that as a reason why the game is bad are really grasping at straws. If 30 seconds of a game can determine if it is good or bad, I guess I should know if I'm going to like a game as soon as I turn it on, right? If I don't like the logo of the companies that took part in making a game, the game must be trash, right? ... sorry, that particular topic has been a bit of a sore point for me simply due to how much it gets sited as a reason to diss the rest of the game. If you don't like a game, you don't like it. No need to grasp at straws trying to make people who do like it look bad.
Absolutly agree with you. Whenever I see someone bringing the laughing up I allways wonder "have you actually played the game? Have you actually seen the scene and the context behind it? Or do you just lake the simple understanding of the situation?". Why are people bashing this scene so much, doesn't make any sense...
I agree, there are better reasons for why FF 10 is a bad story
Damn right. It's amazing how people miss judged game when taking that scene out on context. After all context is important and that scene is one case that really proves that. Then again I shouldn't be surprised since people tend to be stupid and want to reinforce they own beliefs.
I still don't get why the "Romance Scene" dissolves into a weird flying/swimming montage with Pyreflies, though. They used actual bloody cgi for that, too.
People whos cite that scene probably never played the game and just watched a UA-cam video of it.
Final Fantasy X gon give it to ya
What a brave man.
What f*** wait for you to get it on your own FFX gon deliver to ya knock knock open up the doo-I should stop.

Two fun facts
Wakka and Kimahri and a few other characters are voiced by Bender’s voice actor; John DiMaggi
And I only found out you could switch the Aeon intro sequences to short mode via the menu, 3/4th into the game.
Spongebob is rin
Thank you for this. I'll switch it up ASAP.

@@callowguru2611 wrong but he did this week
12:44 Thanks for talking about this scene, Jirard. It always bums me out when people make assumptions about "how awful this game's voice acting is." Watching the scene in context makes a huge difference. And it's one of my favorite scenes in the game! There are so many powerful moments that have their seeds planted during THIS SCENE, and blossom into some real heavy plot points later on in the story.
"If we should get separated... Just whistle. I'll come running. I promise."
Thanks for completing this one, Jirard, and congrats on 1 MILLION SUBS!
THANK YOU! Seriously, seeing a few more comments about this has really made my day. Also, you are the first to point out the bigger moment in that same cutscene (that I have seen in this video's comment section that is). The laugh was just a snippet. That never gets mentioned again outside of that scene, and even then the most that anyone does is make a snarky comment about how weird it was and then move on. The whistle though... that is the most important part of that whole scene.
Exactly! It leaves me grinding my teeth when I hear people genuinely take issue with the voice acting based on that scene which is likewise taken out of context.
On top of it all. I always felt there's a point to be made that while Tidus is trying to make light of the situation. Yuna isn't aware that, Tidus at the time is unaware of her fate at the end of the journey. It's rather dark. He thinks he's trying to lighten up what's just a long journey, and instead is helping her through accepting her own death. Kinda making it more awkward considering the idea of it all being a death march
It was makes me question those people that do that cuz its like so you never did something stupid or said something stupid or funny for that matter to make a sad friend smile or laugh, to ease the tension? That whistle scene right after solidified they got eachothers back they only need to reach out with a whistle.
The scene is still dumb
Why I love ThatOneVideoGamer and Jirard.
1. They love their community. I have never heard one bad story of this crew, let alone the bearded man himself. I am happy to be part of it, and I cant wait for more.
2. Their videos are extremely high quality, with a good mix of seriousness and funny moments.I have never seen one screw up, that the team hasn't admitted to and fix in the next video.
3. I honestly love Jirard and his personality. Hes charismatic, charming, and inspired me to keep my beard un-shaved. Hes a person I aspire to be like.
4. I admire the dedication to his and the teams craft, after having to remove his first 120 episodes (which I wont mention why here) they are re doing them to give them the make over they deserve, and to make sure no episode goes un-remembered. They love their history, and they are not giving it up anytime soon.
and 5. They love their fans and we love them.
Keep it up team, even if others may turn, I still love you all and Jirard and im so happy you making this content, and im proud of you all. I hope yo see more from you soon, and maybe be able to work with you some day!

I’ve put 65 hours into this game so far, I’m playing for the first time. I’m at Seymour’s 4th form. I’ve been doing some mini games. I love this game. It’s so fun and I’m in love with Yuna ❤️ She’s so sweet and pretty.
Ok, now I kind of love the laugh scene because immediately after, Titus and Yuna laugh at it (for real this time) because they realize how ridiculous they both sounded. That DOES feel real, doesn't it? :)
"the surprisingy genuine and believable romance between Yuna, and Meg Ryan."

Final Fantasy X is such an amazing JRPG. It's not the first I ever played but looking back, it really felt like it was. It had such a big impact on me. The story, the character and the gameplay are just all 10/10. Some might complain that it's too linear but as displayed here in this video, that's just not true. There is A LOT to do. FFX will always be one of the best JRPGs I ever played and maybe one day I'll be able to complete more of it too! In the meantime I've been doing a hilarious let's play series of FFX! It's been so much fun reliving the game! If anyone wants to come check it out that would be awesome! :)
imagine deciding to never play a jrpg because someone laughed in a weird way in one once
exactly like cmon there's so much more to the game than just that one scene
i will forever defend this scene, in the context of the game and what the characters are going through it makes sense.
@@chupetaparamahboy that’s what people don’t get, Tidus was laughing that way to cheer up Yuna.
Literally 💀it was bad on purpose too he was literally doing a fake laugh to make yuna laugh 😭
To be fair: the laugh was REALLY weird
The last Final Fantasy game that had an element of SquareSoft within it
Big agreement. XII is where it runs out for me, X was the last shiny piece of imagination
I think XIV has some of that charm, still. Yeah Enix comes in and kills it a little, but Yoshi P really saved it, and I feel his heart is in the right place.
This was the first squenix right?
FF 9 and FF10 are the Best.
I don't know why there is a lot of hate on ff 12. In my opinion, it stands on the same level as ff 10. While 10 brings with it a constantly briliant story with addictive gameplay for it's time, 12 brings with it a different sort of story that has its own charms. The combat might be a lot more mixed than the previous titles, but the combination of story with the theme and fantastic voice acting give it something that you can't really see anywhere else.
"these battles require intense knowledge"
SPAMS QUICK HIT
“Penance is the hardest boss in the game”. Me: call out yojimbo for an easy 1HKO
The amount of work required to get that to be the most efficient attack is immense...
Well good thing Quick hit was nerfed in the HD Remastered
@@SovietzRussia That's cheap and almost cheating in my opinion. Any enemy is the easiest ever, if you pay Yojimbo enough Gil. The fact, that Penance is the hardest boss in the game is still true.
ABIT, you either have not played to that point or you're joking. In case you actually haven't played to that point, yet let me explain: You need to spam Quick Hit here to get enough turns to kill Penance's arms fast enough, so neither of them get a single turn. If they do get a single turn, they will inflict a status effect on you, that reduces your defence. If Penance then gets a turn, he will use Obliteration, which (due to the defence reduction) will kill you. He can also use another ability, when his arms are still alive by then. This ability WILL kill you.
I'm not crying, it just water...
Jirard, you have been such a positive role model for so many of us. Keep up the amazing work. Much love to you and all of your team, family, friends...everyone.

Yet still desperately did his best till the end was my "Aerith's Death" of this game
Wait...Aerith dies?!?
"One of the only few missables in the game". I felt this in my heart... I got to the end of FF and had to start a new save, because I missed 1 Al Bed book in the part of "home" as it's being destroyed. greenhowie lol he's not a monster, he's just lazy and has some issues
As a diehard fan, it was tough because it was such a long, hard and thorough death. While I wasn't on Patreon, I stuck around to the very end, the last Reb Brown month. The bipolar issues, channel awesome departure drama, his control freak issues in response to his fans (toxic or otherwise), that's all secondary for me. What it all came down to is he just stopped making videos and shifted to mediocre streams. And then for months on end he'd stop doing everything. He had a unique voice, but he just stopped. The #1 source of his issues is he gave up. And I feel for the guy, because giving up on doing something you're great at is a tragedy. Edit: And congrats to Jirard on the 1 million. Good on him for pushing through problems and persisting.
He's a fucking scum bag.
I enjoyed his videos.... until he rage quit FFXIV ARR after playing it for 20 minutes. I didn't know about how much he was dealing with until the Down the Rabbit Hole video.
Hearing "to zanarkand" again reminded me of home, I have been in the military for just over half a year now, and I sometimes feel like I don't quite belong, but whenever I feel doubtful of myself, at the end of the work day I sit down and watch the completionist, game theory, caddicarus, and many others, since you felt it right to take almost ten minutes to thank all your veiwers, i feel it right to thank you for being a source of comfort when I am doubting myself, so thank you jirard, for the reminder of home, especially since this is my first thanksgiving away from my family, and for all the videos over the years that help me feel like more certain of my decision, whether I'm the only one who feels this way or all 1 million of us do, I wanted to say thank you.

This vid brought tears to my eyes seriously. My personal history with FFX mirrors the feel of this video, my best friend since middle school and I used to stay up all night playing this game, taking turns with one of us being the player and the other being a navigator. We would trade off during the side quests, putting in shifts till the job was done. This game showed me a talent I never knew I had, when I would find items hidden in the map that were not even in the official strategy guides, just because something in the terrain looked out of place. And later in life, as I introduced my wife to video games, this got to be her first real FF title, and I got the pleasure again to be her co-pilot. Making the romances and work that much more real to us in our lives. One day I even hope to put a controller in the hands of my child and take on the guide roll once again through the land of Spira and those who dwell in it. Thank you Jirard for reminding me why I do what I do, and why I love video games.

And thanks for pointing out that the voice acting in the laughing scene is supposed to be bad. It always annoys me how people seem to think the whole game is like that 5 seconds of Yuna and Tidus awkwardly forcing laughs.
I know right? It's such a powerfullscene and yet people allways take it out of context. XC
@@toongrowner1
Eh, as I've said before, as purposeful as the voice acting was, the idea of "fake laugh your sad away to better ignore your valid concerns and feelings" is still an awkward concept to write
@@fluidthought42 Maybe, but it is hardly a defining moment of the game. It is just one people remember well - for better or worse. It was about 30 seconds of fake laughter, then the party moves on. The other parts of that scene matter to the overall story more than that specific snippet.
@Mr. Seemingly Expected
You clearly don't seem to get the situation. It's not ignoring the problem, quiet the opposite. There is a huge problem yes, but what brings it to be constantly worried and being depressed about it? They are laughing to keep strong, to stay positive no matter how hard it's get. They still have joy that keeps them going and motivates them even more to fight the problem. And this is not as easy as you may think. And this is something that also part of real life. Life can sometimes be shit and awefull, but what brings it be constantly feel down because of that? Just being sad about it doesn't bring anything, it doesn't solve the problem. It pretty much makes it worse. And is actually more a form of "ignoring the problem".
Still having joy, still being able to laugh and keep going, even when times are hard is one of the most difficult yet strongest thing a person can do.
If you had the slightest idea of depression, you would know that.

True.
But the revelation of Meg Ryan's hatred of his dad, instead of coming from a very understandable viewpoint about his drunk, loutish, behavior, being instead revealed to be a psuedo-Oedipal complex he has with his prop mom _was_ a key scene... and was also pretty stupid.

This was a joke from The Spoony Experiment's review of FFX. Good to see a call out.
Huge congratulations on 1 million subscribers, extremely impressive. FFX was my first FF game and is still one of my favorites. Perhaps the best game I've ever played in terms of: playing, lore, and character interactions. Kind of a shame that the story got a bit screwed up at the end
Been a few weeks so I think I can allow myself one finger pointing at one flaw, so that newcomers don't hate on it for wrong reasons : 19:30 .
You *don't need* to reset your stats to get new prizes. New ones reappear after a few matches. And this is important to specify because "water squash" is waaaaay more annoying at low level, while it gets a bit more interesting (and, more importantly, way easier, thus less frustrating) at higher level.
Resetting stats is only a way to get a new prize immediatly instead of having to complete 2-3 matches. But I had way more fun with that tiny grind and, then, crushing the other teams than my friends who decided to "rush" it by resetting. Especially since it took me only a tiny bit longer, since I didn't had to restart lost matches, since I didn't lose my matches, since I was high level. Blitz can be fun.^^ Or at least not-a-chore.
Eh, I found it much easier playing at a lower level. Can't speak from experience when playing at a higher level, but I didn't want to deal with Nimrook level'ing up his catch. Once I saw it went up to 19, I was like nope. Time to reset, or forfeit.
@@Mastabacc Step 1 : With good players (not the Aurochs, sadly), leveling usually compensate pretty quickly (if you play on manual of course).
Step 2 : Once the Psyches don't renew Nimrook, get him. You're golden.
For the Don Tonberry trick, another thing to add is Rikku’s overdrive, if you get Hot Spurs and Eccentrick, they will speed up the overdrive gage. And Yes, they do stack!
Meg Ryan, Love that Spoony nod there mate
For those who don't know who Spoony is, long ago, a nameless reviewer separated the evil in his body to become two separate beings. The evil side called himself TheSpoonyone and the good side went by Projared.
The good side can perform a fusion with Jirard to become Projirard the Finishist.
Jirard can also perform this same move with Norm the Gaming Historian, also I'm liking that someone knows Chip's Challenge:)
we don't talk about thespoonyone. not after the separation.
oir we can jsut name the child by the name and say noah antwhiler WAs a reviewer on tgwtg.com and at some point due to his own fault and other circumstances has become lazy with his "work" and has slipped into obscurity and possibly homelessness
But isn't 100% completion the ONLY way to play FFX?
Not all the time. I have such a massive collection that it's rare for me to do extra content in games. If I go out of my way to complete a game it means it's something special to me
FFVIII and FFX were two of my favorite games in my teen-ish years. (The others all were contenders too.) They really were benchmarks for some of the quality notes that the genre could hit. FFX in particular had so much extra to offer and so many interesting story dynamics (even if a few were pretty hammy sometimes). May the newest FFs come back to this sort of consistent quality sooner than later.
I loved Final Fantasy X and it is amazing to see you truly complete it. I also really enjoyed the story and the cinematics? For the time? Oh my god they were amazing! :D
I had no idea just how much more content there was beyond the main story, aside from the ultimate weapons but my god I didn't have the patience to dodge all of the lightning. And the Sphere Grid? 5,796 spheres?! Holy cow I had no idea it took so much time and effort and grinding. You truly are a champion.
And you did all of this in only 160 hours? What?! Amazing! :D
And oof the feels at the end. Thank you Jirard. Your journey's been amazing and I can't wait to see more. Oh, and congratulations on hitting 1 million! :D
For blitzball. If you get one point ahead, just hang out in your own goal until the game ends
I guess these dislikes are followers of Yu Yevon.

-Chaptermaster Wakka of the Besaid Aurochs
I love this game, and it was my first game that I legitimately cried at a video game, thanks to the credits, plus it was my first FF game besides Dirge of Cerberus. Also, this is a side note, hey Jirard, I heard you say Sin and Punishment, and I must ask, have you ever thought of 100%ing Sin and Punishment Star Successor?
X is the saddest game ending I've personally ever seen.
THANK YOU! explaining the Laughing scene is so important, so many people shit on this game for that scene alone and don't understand that the laughing is fake and supposed to be like that.
Rikku’s brother...His name is Brother
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Kind of a no-brainer, really.
The sphere grid is still one of the best leveling systems in the FF series!
LEILE S I agree. I love the sphere grid
One of the best? No. The best. I don't understand why the Conditional Turn-Based System and the Sphere grid were immediately abandoned after FFX. You are coming off of, imo, the best Final Fantasy title you've ever made and your next step is to make an MMO, a weird sequel and then FFXII which I personally can't stand. Then 13's trilogy happened and then another MMO. I've not played 15 primarily cause it doesn't look like a Final Fantasy game. FFX was the last time Square made a Final Fantasy title that built off of everything that came before it. You could see how all the games before it influenced it.
@@GundamGokuTV 12 was good. And 15 is not bad. Different kind of game. 13 was a shit show.
@@GundamGokuTV FFX is my all time favorite FF game! FF7 die hard fan boys love to point out it's few flaws (yes few). But they turn blind when ever you say anything negative about FF7, which I love but it's no where near my favorite. To me FFVI, FFIX and FFX where outstanding games. The sphere grid was just phenomenal and well balanced for the entire game. Sure there's the voice acting and daddy issues, but other than that the game is a masterpiece. Oh, and whoever says it's too linear and loves all the titles that come before it, you need a new reality check. 😉
I’m one of those rare weirdos whose favorite game in the series is actually FFIX
THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!! i dont know also why people did not understand the context of that laugh. Well actually i didnt understand it either. But during my 2nd playthrough, when i finally knew what's really on yuna's mind, the laugh broke me.
15:50 khimari is the most well rounded. He literally starts in the middle of the grid and can be a second copy of anything you want.
Tidus' aspect is speed. Most agility and spells / abilities focused around quickening /delaying.
Yeah, Tidus is like an assasin with support spells. Kimari is literally a Jack of all trades character
Two things:
- I dodged those 200 lightning bolts.
- Brett is reading the game case with the controller 😂😂😂
Congrats on getting 1 million subs , it's great to know you've come so far 😄👌
Congrats on 1 mil subscribers dude! Gotta say, the journey’s been crazy. Y’all need more imo. ^^
The voice of Wakka is bender from Futurama
Congratz on 1 million! It has been long coming and well-deserved.
Final Fantasy X is also one of my all-time favorites, but I've never gone and completed it. This video kinda makes me wanna do that....
So, when are you guys gonna start tackling Disgaea-series?
I'm replaying FFX now, it's my favorite. I was 15 the day it came out and it's still my top, followed by VIII.
Replaying it on Switch now. Love every minute. Never played 8 other than the demo, but it is coming to switch soon too... so maybe I can get to know Squall.
@@razorray8448 you'd serve yourself well to take up VIII after you finish X man. You won't be disappointed bro, honestly.
Make sure to play X-2 (100% too it's easy to do with a guide) wraps up the whole X story perfectly.
Im so in love with this game.
The bestiary, the universe's esthetics, the melancolia, the soundtrack. And those Aeons, damn they are just sooo badass.
Thanx for the review and big respect for the colossal work behind it.
Congrats on 1 million subs! A huge achievement!
As someone who has played this a lot as a kid and has replayed it to completion even just recently, it holds a special place in my heart and I can safely say that you have truly understood it, and have done this game justice. You did not just play it, you really got it and 'completed' it. Not just % wise, but
This was a huge game when I was a kid, and I'd never finished it until today. Just the story not 100 percent I'm not a madman
congrats! and now we're on our road to the next million!
Get this man some ale and let’s cheer for another million or should we say another 10 million. Keep up the great work.
One of my favorite gaming accomplishments was getting the platinum for FF10. It's been a few years since I did it, and I remember the grind on the sphere grid being so grueling. That said, it's gotta be my favorite FF game of those I've played. The music is gorgeous, the characters are incredibly charming, the world is beautifully designed, etc.
also, thank you for pointing out the context people always seem to miss with that laughing scene.
Love you guys jirard!! Congrats on 1 million!!! Now we need to get Super Beard Bros there too!!
Man, thats literally the first time I hear someone mention the fact that the laughing-scene is SUPPOSED to Sound forced and awkward. (and they even genuinely laugh afterwards). I keep wondering if 99% of people picking on this scene for "horrible VA" have even played the game
I thought it was obvious and I haven't even gotten to that scene yet. It's amazing that people can't figure that out.
I am truly happy that FFX is having such dedicated fanbase, thx for this vid (even tho it is 5 years old lol)
This was a huge undertaking. Great work everyone! We'll always remember the legend of Meg Ryan!
Oh man, it is now the later part of 2023, and I have been going through FFX again for the 5th time once again to reach the full completion. Today I decided to continue the grind for the arena monsters and while I am starting the game I open up youtube and this is the second video recommendation I have. I just feels right to see this 4 year old video. I had forgotten this was the 1 million subscriber video. Man, this just hits the right way today. I am only 1 Tonberry and 3 Varuna away from the monster collection part. The fight is about to begin, but before that there is still 200 lightning hits and Blitzball to go. It is still a long way to go...
But after re-watching this, I AM NOW MOTIVATED AS HECK! This is the playthrough I will push it to Penance and overcome the grind. To the completion!
How's the challenge going?
Finally someone gets the laughing scene, it's annoying how so many people don't understand it.
HA HA HA HA HA
Yea never seen this take on millions of videos and forums and threads super original
There’s a much, much more grueling task than maxing out the sphere grid my friend.
Maxing out the Aeon’s stats. It’s hell. True, true hell.
At least each Aeon can only learn a certain set of moves. Imagine if you could teach all moves to aeons, like with Guardians/Yuna
TheLordGojira Never did that myself actually, thank god. My hell was to go through that harrowing Chocobo mini-game in Calm Lands, damn those heat-seeking seagulls! Damn them all to hell!
TheBeesKnees it wouldn’t matter. Teaching them skills is a joke compared to maxing out their stats.
It takes 99 power spheres to raise an aeon’s hp by 100 starting around 20-25,000 hp iirc. To max it out you need to get it to 99,999. MP goes up in increments of 10 and have a max of 9,999, and similarly requires more the more it already has.
The most spheres you can get from a single fight is 40, and sometimes they’ll drop 2 (because you distilled dark matters :/). Unfortunately you can only hold 99 at a time. This means you must kill Kottos (400,000 hp) several *THOUSAND* times to farm enough power spheres to max out ONE Aeon’s HP, and ignore any other stats.
There are 10 Aeons. You must kill Kottos-because no other monsters are even as close to as efficient to just shake things up for you-literally *tens of thousands of times* in order to do it.
Good luck.
Sounds like it should be automated.
And if automated, might as well be hex edited.
I don't see the point, there's no challenge, it's just a question of whether a chunk of your life has no value, so you spend it hitting the same pattern of buttons tens of thousands of times over and over.
Nothing ever topped 6 for me. I smoked 10 once, it seemed really easy as far as I recall. I never looked back; but your love-letter to it might get me to play it again. I straight up don't remember the cat man.
Please play Zone Of the Enders its Kojima's passion project.
I agree with this. Zone of the Enders is a crazy Kojima series and deserves more love.
YES! This would be amazing!
How about Policenauts? (?)
@@lokasocba because zone of the enders was referenced more in MGS than policenauts.
The single most satisfying act I ever did in this game was using a cheat mod on the chocobo race. For real. After two decades of punishment (yes, I've obviously beaten it legitimately in old playthroughs) I finally bent it over my lap to give it a beating.
You should have at least 5 or 6 million subscribers at this point your the best video game reviewer
Great review of the game. The emotions this game brings back 😭😭😭❤️
I know this is a slightly older video, but I just found your channel about a month ago. I love the work you do, and every other day or so I watch a few of your videos to help unwind after work. They're a hell of a lot of fun. But this video touched me with your extensive acknowledgements and thank yous at the end. It's one of the coolest, most heart-felt and genuine things I've seen in a medium where everyone is playing up a personality to cultivate likes and subscribers. Your channel is awesome. You do beastly, insane work that would drive most people mad, and you do it for our entertainment. Thanks for everything. Congrats on hitting such a tremendous milestone. You definitely deserve it, and I wish you a ton of continued success in the future.
To be fair, the japanese Tidus sounds like he's quacking in the laughing scene.
Thank you for mentioning the laugh! No one ever remembers the context!!!
The laugh scene is one of the cuter ones in the game, honestly.
@@2401blue yeah forcing themselves to laugh through their uncertainty and fear
I dunno, in the last couple years? It feels like people remember the context, know what was being aimed for...
They just don't *care*. It's an easy punching bag of a meme, made harder by the odd qualities in the voice acting thanks to needing to lip-synch. It's probably the one I see more pushed as "example of terrible voice acting" than Vaan in FFXII. (And if you know FF memes, you know exactly which scene and lines I mean.)
Black magic Yuna = "Okay, guys. Take a break for the rest of... everyrthing".
black magic kihmari is also hilariously op
my first and only Final Fantasy is XII The Zodiac Age.. when my friend loaned it to me back in the day for ps2 I fell so in love I had to buy it from him and then buy the official guide book for it.. only Final Fantasy I have ever played and I love it..
13:12 *FECKING* THANK YOU
Congrats on one million, man!
