Does it connect to your phone with bluetooth and get data shareing right away or do you need to set that up? 7. Does the factory adjustable brightness dimmer work on this? does it have a daytime night time mode automatically?
Here's a summary of the answers to your questions. If you have more questions or need further assistance, feel free to let me know. 1. Absolutely, yes! 2. You bet, it's a "yes" again! 3. No worries, you have options here. You can either use the built-in radio or an external module that comes with the Android head unit. 4. To the best of my knowledge, I haven't seen any HD indicators on this radio, but that's probably because I don't use it much. It's possible that it doesn't have that feature. 5. It's supposed to have those features, but personally, I had some trouble and ended up using the separate components that came with it. 6. Sure thing! Like any radio, you'll need to set it up and connect your phone to it. I use Android Auto, and it's great for receiving notifications, especially texts, while driving. I'm not sure about iPhones, though. 7. I'm sorry, but it doesn't have the first feature you mentioned. However, yes, it does have a built-in feature that you can play around with.
@MACSDIY how did you do the factory backup camera? Is there a harness in the back of the headunit? My stock tailgate camera is unplugged, not sure what or how to install. A camera came with it but not the correct harness.
@lukebenning3708, there is a link for the harness that I purchased to make the factory camera work. Also, in my video, I show where to plug it in. It's where I take off the glove box. I hope this helps.
Hey, thanks for the video. It definitely gives me an idea of what I'm getting into, as far as trim removal and such. It seems like a lot of these units with different brand names are basically the same thing, but with separate RAM/ROM options. I was wondering, do these units retain functionality of the stock SD card and USB port for storage? I would just get a cheaper unit with less internal storage, if that's the case. Thanks, again?
Thanks for the video! The OEM plugs at the top left on the car side (big green, black), all the way to the right the last plug, where did you plug that into because my unit didn’t come with anything for it, also is it needed?
There are some wires/harnesses that are not required. If I plugged them in, then they were used as shown in the video. If not, then I just tucked them behind the radio. Also, keep in mind that every vehicle is a bit different, so you may or may not need them.
I’m having trouble with the SWC not working. I don’t have that T harnesses so I’m doing it hardwired. Another thing I have problems with is the vehicle sounds( seatbelt, signals and warning) I got no sound for that.
That could mean a couple of things. 1. Something is not connected correctly. 2. Your CANBUS settings are not set to the correct Year/Make/Model. 3. Whoever you purchased the radio from, they didn't program something correctly. 4. You could have purchased the wrong radio.
Would you be willing to do a video showing the reverse camera in action? I’m curious how it looks and acts on the new android system compared to the OEM system.
I noticed that you removed the socket to the HMCI to install the reverse camera retention harness. Does the HMCI function with it not being plugged in as it is now not simply bypassed but rerouted?
That was the only way that I was able to get the camera to work. I tried so many ways to hook it up the head unit, but it just wouldn't work. So I just pretty much bypassed it, and then it worked.
@@MACSDIY Thank you for the reply and pretty extensive video so I appreciate it. Gonna replace my head unit as well following your guide! @user-bm5hd7vv4y it does, and thank you for clarifying. All those features are pretty much gone. There are some other things that you can tweak with the new head unit, but yes, those features are gone. Is there anything in particular that you were trying to keep?
@@MACSDIY - not sure, but I just wanted to know before buying one, or installing one. I have been looking for something for quite a while, and this seems like a very affordable option compared to the $1,000 option with the OEM boxes. Thanks for the help!
That is true as far as price goes, but then just keep in mind you get what you pay for. I love this android head unit, but there are times I wish I would have gone with a true plug and play and kept a lot of other settings or OEM settings that I don't have anymore.
How is it laggy, and what is it exactly doing? The only thing that I can think of is that you need to update your head unit, or you may have to return it for another, and may ha e something faulty! I would try updating it first and then going from there.
@MACSDIY so I messed with it a little more and the wires coming off the radio plug at the top, there are 2 single wires. When I plug in both of them it trips out the teuck. I unplug it and it goes back to normal. Can you show what you plugged in to the top two wire?
If the RCA connectors are integrated into the head unit, the installation process should be a straightforward 'plug and play' affair. However, I would strongly recommend conducting some preliminary troubleshooting with the equipment before reassembling everything to ensure everything functions smoothly. In my personal experience, while they often claim that everything is 'plug and play,' it can still be prudent to exercise caution to a certain extent.
I ran into the same issue and when I contacted the seller I was told that it would work and that I may just have plugged something in the wrong way. do you have a link for the steering wheel controll T harness
TY
I don't sorry!
Will this work with the factory gps built into the high country trucks? Thx
Sorry, I am not sure, but the way this android unit is set up it comes with a GPS antenna. So I don't think it will work with the factory one, and you would have to use the one with the android unit. I hope this helps.
Thanks
@@RadiantStudio you're welcome.
Ok so where you removed the glove box and found the harness where exactly cause I can’t find it on my truck
What harness are you exactly talking about? The factory harness that is already in the truck or the extra one that I purchase to make the camera work?
If you’re talking about the black harness for the reverse camera it was tucked up in the dash, had to pull it down
I have that same old radio and can't hook my 360 bird view cameras to the video.
Sorry I can't assist you any further with this issue. I was thinking about installing it on my truck, but by the looks of it, I will be getting rid of the truck next year, so I don't want to du.p any more money into it.
Does this radio have pre-amp outputs for front, rear, and subs
This model yes it did.
How do you get the front camera to work and steering control?
I don't have a front camera, and for the steering wheel control, there is a wire that needs to be connected, as shown in the video.
Did you lose the OEM control menu, or is there a passthrough?
Are you referring to the one on the cluster? If so, then no. Or are you talking about something different?
@@MACSDIY - sorry, I was referring to the OEM menu that was on the original screen before replacing the unit. That menu had system settings for the truck itself. Does this unit allow access to those same settings, or is that lost with this unit? Hopefully that makes more sense. Thanks for the reply!
Hello sir how r u ...i have same problem steering wheel control is not working can u plzzz guide me
What is not working? Can you elaborate a little bit more please?
my steering control work when I set up on the canbus that’s the only way it works but it’s soo laggy can you help ?
How is it laggy, and what is it exactly doing? The only thing that I can think of is that you need to update your head unit, or you may have to return it for another, and may ha e something faulty! I would try updating it first and then going from there.
@@MACSDIY like I’ll increase the volume on my steering wheel and it I’ll take like 30 seconds to register on the screen
That sounds like a simple update to the head unit! Try that first.
I did this and my vehicle antitheft keeps kicking on when i try to start . Any ideas?
Maybe you need to configure the CANBUS settings, or something wasn't plugged in correctly to where it needs to go.
@MACSDIY so I messed with it a little more and the wires coming off the radio plug at the top, there are 2 single wires. When I plug in both of them it trips out the teuck. I unplug it and it goes back to normal. Can you show what you plugged in to the top two wire?
On the backup camera retainer did you have to connect the red wire on the back of the radio
No, but then I also used a PAC harness. It should be listed in the description.
@@MACSDIY so you’re installation will be the same for a 2015 Silverado
How was your install time
If I didn't make this video, then maybe a couple of hours.
It should. I don't see why not... Both vehicles are almost identical besides a few bells and whistles.
is there a way to connect an amp straight to the harness ?
If the RCA connectors are integrated into the head unit, the installation process should be a straightforward 'plug and play' affair. However, I would strongly recommend conducting some preliminary troubleshooting with the equipment before reassembling everything to ensure everything functions smoothly. In my personal experience, while they often claim that everything is 'plug and play,' it can still be prudent to exercise caution to a certain extent.
Hi I can’t figure out where you put the old CD player wires
They should plug right into the Android head unit. Can you send an image to my email to show me exactly which wires you are talking about!
Yes plz I’ve been doing this for 3 days😂
Also I cannot get the steering wheel controls to work, I have plugged in the orange wires but nothing
That sounds like your CANBUS settings, then on your radio. Also, my email is on my UA-cam page.
I tried and connot find the email
Clean
Thank you very much!
My backup camera comes in Black and white . Do u know anything about that
I ran into the same issue and when I contacted the seller I was told that it would work and that I may just have plugged something in the wrong way. After a lot of troubleshooting, I couldn't get it to work so I purchased a (CAM-GM51 OEM Revers Camera Harness). The link is below in the video and shows you where to install it if you have the same vehicle. I hope this helps.

What features do you lose
I believe Onstar was the biggest one for me, but at the same time, I don't care because I didn't use it anyway. There may be some other features on the radio that you may lose as well, but not 100% what they are/were because I never used them!
What about my silverado show the A/C fan speed setting will that be gone aswell
@user-ce9kh2uk8c it will show that, but on the head unit, it will display in Celcius.
Okay. Thank you
@user-ce9kh2uk8c You're welcome
Anyone have a link,,couldn't find in description
Link for what? I have a couple of links, so if you could be a bit more specific so that I can assist you.
is there a way to add my amp to this?
As far as my understanding goes, yes, it is indeed possible, provided you have the necessary RCA connectors compatible with the head unit.
How much does it cost
The link for the radio is in the video description! That should be able to show you the price.
he did not show the finished install maybe its not working?????
What are you asking or trying to say?
Link for radio
I took it off because they don't sell this specific model anymore, as I explained in the description. They have a newer version of this radio. Hope this helps.
@MACSDIY how about link for that one
The link for this specific model was taken down. I looked to see if I could find it anywhere else but I had no luck. Sorry!
Does this set up work with bose?
This specific radio, I believe it doesn't. I also really didn't check because I have a non-bose system.
@@MACSDIY,. It suppose to,. Well that’s what I was told when I bought it,. After hooked it up, have no sound,. Everything else works great though,. Idk what to do beside send it bak,.. get a refund
@blkicemike4857 If you have the bose system, then yes, that is what I would recommend and go with another radio. If not, then I would do some playing around with the connections or the settings within the radio.
@@MACSDIY ,. I think I will have to have the PAC’s AP4-GM61 amp pro module in order to get everything to properly function with factory Bose amp and the additional 8000watt amp for the 2 twelve inch subs also installed.. thinkin daaauuum! This build getting a lil pricey,.😅
@@MACSDIY,. Even if I go with a different radio, I will still hav same problem with wiring,. Idk
I think the harness they sent me has pins in wrong place,. On the green plug 4 speaker wires on harness side don’t even connect on the other plug. I need to figure out something,. It duck not have any music while driving,. I have it all torn apart & haven’t put bak together yet, no point to keep removing and installing,. Would an amp bypass plugs work? I hav aftermarket amp also to power my 12in subs,. The factory amp on the Bose speakers in doors and tweeters in dash do sound decent,. I hear they really suk w/out,. So what do I do amp bypass,. Or find an integrated factory amp type harness,?? Those run to high price in my opinion,. Over $400 just for a harness,. That’s crazy imo,. Any ideas how I could get this baby rocking’ ?? Much appreciate it,..
so why mine doesn’t have sound at all??
I don't know! Did you install something wrong, maybe, or you didn't change the CANBUS settings! There could be many reasons.
@@MACSDIY its plug and play i try to hear the radio and nothing just like yours. whats the Canbus ??
The Controller Area Network (CAN bus) is a message-based protocol designed to allow the Electronic Control Units (ECUs) found in today's automobiles, as well as other devices, to communicate with each other in a reliable, priority-driven fashion.
Also, I made a video on how to select your specific vehicle through the CANBUS settings. Listed below is the link. If you don't have a Junsun radio, then I won't be able to assist.

My truck won’t start what did i do wrong!😂
Somewhere something is not connected...
where do I get the t harness?
Mine came with the radio when I purchased it.
