Great review, but I kind of miss few things...how the FM radio app looks like - I'm reading in comments that you'll cover it - please do(do)! And also, this is also more general request for all the headunits, if you could spend some time on the built-in apps - like music and bluetooth app, we all know what Spotify looks like, but with every launcher, the built-in apps are different and those of us who are still old-school and use USB drives for music would maybe appreciate to know how the stock apps are designed from UI perspective. And one last thing, which has mostly nothing to do with the review, but it's something that I would love to see - FM and DAB in the same app with seamless blending. So far, I only saw this on Dynavin headunits which are crazy expensive, but with DAB getting more coverage, I would appreciate more integration of the functionality and the hardware directly in the unit/app. Thanks again for the review!
@@esaedvik Generally yes, but i don't get tha sense here. Both brands (Mekede Tech, DUDU) have been around a bit and are "building" those brands. This differes from the 'random capitalized letters' "brands" that proliferate online commerce these days.
Just a heads up for anyone that wants to buy one. If you intend to use 360 cameras, buy one at the same time you buy the headunit. The 360 modules within the unit is added on demand or when you purchase the camera with the unit. If you intend to use your current 360 cameras or purchase 360 cameras later and don’t mention it to them, they will send you a unit without the module installed. The 6gb version of the headunit doesn’t do 360 regardless. This is a key bit of information that isn’t been shared properly by Mekede for some reason.
Can you purchase or order the module online separately? I just ordered the stereo and 360 cameras on Amazon but separately so I don't know if I'll have everything I need. I'm not sure if the module will be present or not, but I do know I need one.
@@iketrey5 you can buy the module separately but you will need to solder it by yourself. So the best is just to ask the seller and pay additional 10 bucks
One of the main things I forgot to mention is the microphone quality. The calls I made, even at high volume, the head unit had great noise cancelling properties so the caller heard clear voice without any echos

@@SaabUnleashed running a 13 inch running the dudu beta. Pretty happy tbh though naturally it does cover the vents slightly. Though it does have issues as the Bluetooth is the basic realtec one. You can buy the screen separately and update via a driver.

Brilliant review as always. The specs and software are truly amazing. My only issue is power draw in sleep mode. My Dasaita unit will, if i don't drive my car after 2 or 3 days, drain the battery and can't start my 2015 VW Golf. Nothing in head unit software to shutdown head unit, so I installed a fuse switch to turn off power to head unit manually. No more battery drain. I think a lot of the newer head units now have the option to shutdown.

As a Teyes owner I was quite sceptical at first glance. But after watchint this review, I think my next car might have this instead. My main focus was the UI, UX, what kinda seem very attractive. I find myself using AndroidAuto instead of Teyes UI recently. And this new UI feels like fills that missing part - constant bottom navbar + multi-app top part. Honestly Teyes UI doesn't feel that comfortable, whlie thia might be my next best shot. And Wow! They have 13" display option, very nice for those bigger-dashed USA suvs like mine.
So the DuDu7 is the only Android head unit that will change the interface to dark mode when the lights go on? It looked like you were limited to what type of application could be used as a widget, and I didn't see an OBDII application in the list, is this not possible? Does the OBDII integration only work with DuDu's own OBDII adapter? This would be a shame since I already have a nice one. My vehicle already has factory tire pressure sensors that I can read with my OBDII dongle, but I'd be surprised if DuDu7 would read that since it's vehicle manufacturer specific and they sell their own solution for that. This is definitely a very interesting head unit, thank you for the review!
Looks like a great evolution in the androind head unit ecosystem, which I'm all for. However, it seems to have inherited (unless I have missed something -- though i double-checked multiple times) a rather significant shortcut in the equalizer / DSP setup. That being, the equalizer bands are global. You can't have a separate equalizer adjustment configuration for each output channel. To anybody who knows about audio tuning basics, this functionality is key towards proper system adjustment, because each individual speaker driver has its own response curve which is further distorted by mounting location and room dynamics... one of the main points of a DSP is to account for these individual variations, which is why it's so mystifying that they keep integrating these chips but omitting this functionality. If they could just get this implemented, it would go a long ways towards making expensive 3rd party DSPs obsolete for anybody but the staunchest of audio enthusiasts. Having messed with programming multiple equalizer chips in the past few years, I know for a fact that they almost universally do support per-channel adjustment, so the fact that head unit devs keep leaving this out is seriously disappointing. I'll be staying with my existing Teyes unit until and if this short-sightedness is rectified. I'd love to be able to sit down with my laptop and Room EQ Wizard, a calibrated mic, and dial a proper house curve into each audio channel. Having done this to my home systems, I know the improvement would be astronomical on its own, aside from the hardware quality of the unit itself. Oh, well. Fingers crossed for the future.
I do agree with this sentiment. Joying, for example, do allow for individual speaker setup, although some may argue that they've gone a bit too far because there isn't any option for global modification, and this makes things overly complicated and time consuming for the average user. After all, us audiophiles are a minority. But completely omitting singular speaker setup is a bit lazy
They not only make the head unit, they also provide third party launcher option for OEM like BYD, so you can replace your original launcher with theirs and they even integrate the car system and control into their launcher, with some subscription service, you can get even more features.
Hey, I might have missed you mentioning it, but can you tell me what voltage the rca outs are providing? Android head units are notorious for absolute dogshit voltage on the outs, requiring an LOC or other solution. Thanks soooo much for doing these reviews. I sincerely appreciate it!

T’eyes software seems to be hit or miss on if people like it and from the research I have done you kind of have to stay in that ecosystem if you want it to behave. On the other side, Mekede really needs to work on product information accessibility. I am having a heck of a time figuring out what pieces would do what I want and if what I already have will work.
I'm using Teyes CC3 2K, thanks to the video review that you've made. I always prefer the dual screen than using android auto. But this player looks sweet. Sadly Mekede is not available in my country. Excellent review as always.

Looks amazing, I have just upgraded to a topway TS10S from a TS18...I definitely should have waited for this to be available in the UK, this looks way better as the the TS10S has issues, mostly due to missing "Files" system app for DocumentsUI, so many players such as Smart audiobook player, and Musicolet just wont work as they won't scan external storage, apparently its an android 12 issue
Many here say "great" and "epic" view, but the only fitting word for this is... ...AMAZING! 😊 It's a short drinking game to have a shot every time that word is spoken, instant alcohol overdose😂

Great video. I am just wondering how bright can it get? I live in a very sunny place of the world and I constantly have issues with screens that don't get bright enough
I bought a 9.5-inch Dudu 7 directly from the mekede seller and in addition to several things that I did not like, such as the screen is not black enough and dazzles the driver. The colors on the screen are oversaturated. Also the sound is very bad for my taste. Even with an external amplifier I couldn't achieve the live sound sensation I had with my previous unit. To say this I am comparing it with an S160 unit that I have had since 2013 that does not have these problems. And well, on top of that, after 45 days of sporadic use, my unit started restarting repeatedly and with a delay in booting the Android. There is undoubtedly a Ram or CPU problem that causes the system to reboot. The seller did not recognize my warranty so I lost my money. Sending the product from Argentina to China for review didn't make sense to me. Very expensive.

I saw your video and was very impressed with the unit, wanted to get one for my car, but one that fits the dashboard. I went through their website and it’s a mess, even their alibaba store is very confusing I didn’t know which unit to get. Tried emailing them to ask about the details and their answer after 3 days was “Hi”, they literally just replied saying hi. I have a few questions. 1. I saw that the Bluetooth codec is aptxHD, compared to SBC. For my headphones, I can hear a difference, but can you hear it on your speakers? For me, I self host my music & play it on an app that is compatible with Android Auto called Symfonium, so I can stream my music in full lossless audio FLAC files 2. I was thinking of adding more expandable storage, so how much do they allow you to add? 3.I see that there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, what is it used for? Do you connect your phone to it, add expandable storage, etc.? 4. What other in-head units do you plan on covering? I saw in the comments below that you will cover the ATOTO X10, but what others do you plan on doing as well? You are the best at reviewing these android head units, so I can't wait for the next one. I pretty sure DSP SPDIF bypass won't bypass the Android limitation. But the USB audio out WILL if you connect it to a USB DSP such as the ifi Zen series which has it's own set of SPDIF outputs
I don't entirely expect a reply, but here goes. I have a 2012 Ford F250. I'm looking at replacing the stock stereo with the God-awful Sync. But I don't want to lose the SWC and having access to CANBUS would be a plus. Were there additional modules that you had to purchase and install to get those to function. Not to mention, you said something about 360 cameras. Did you have to purchase those separate or were they also included.
An addition to my comment. The 360 camera is an additional purchase. I would advise to buy them with the radio at the same time because the 360 chip needs to be added to the radio buy Duduauto. If you buy the radio without the 360 camera, they won’t install the chip and you will end up without the option of installing their version of the 360 camera in the future.
I'm not impressed by all the gadgetry (music flow, car on the road, headlight indications etc.) with any head unit. I look for convenience and sound quality which this one has as you explained. Also important to me is wireless Android Auto and car integration. I have a T'Eyes in my Jeep Cherokee KL. The CC3 is not able to control the heated steering wheel. Thank you for this review. I am looking forward to seeing the new offering from T'Eyes.
As he explained, with Dudu7 Android Auto is rendered useless. It's casting pearls before swine because you can do everything that AA does but way better, e.g. in audio quality from direct source.
@SaabUnleashed , do you have any pictures or info about the mounting size/type and hardware included? I have browsed their alibaba site and even asked questions in the chat, but couldn't really get the info I need to check what size fits my car the best. Is it a 2DIN mount or something else? And how is the screen positioned up/down in relation to the mount? I am most interested in the 13" size, but need this info before making the purchase. Many other manufacturers have pretty solid info about this kind of things.

Been waiting for this. That dudu operating system is apparently being beta tested on all sorts of styles of units. It may or may not make sense to try to get into that beta for something like an atoto or joying fyt 7862 unit and show off what the operating system is like on them vs the stock one perhaps.

Question: I was looking at getting an Atoto A6 PF but the manufacturer doesn't publish the 'off' current and from reports I've been told it's between 45mA and 50mA, which is rather high. I only get to use the car 2-3 times a week, sometimes less and that sort of current draw will flatten the battery pretty quickly. Do you know of any 7" units which run Android and which have a more reasonable draw when off?
How is the mount to the car's original place? Single Din? Double Din? I couldn't find anything on the item's description and what's included, this is the only thing holding me to purchase it. @SaabUnleashed
These Android radios don’t use the standard single/double din frames. I would suggest searching online for the Android headunit frame specific for your car. For example ‘Benz W164 Android frame’. Look out for the 9inch frame version for your car. 9inch Android frames are the universal fitting size for most Android headunits. For example, I ordered the 11.5 version of this radio and it came with a converter frame that attaches to the 9 inch frame of my car.
Great video. Can you do a follow up video on siziig the display for different cars and will the display float over the console or doess it have to be mounted into the cars console? My cl500 benz has a very unique wood console that limits what it can accept

hi there, nice video! just a (maybe dumb) question: how do you mechanicly mount the unit to your car? just got a 13 inch version in, trying to mount it to a 2021 renault master van..... cant really make sense of the plastic frames that came with the unit. any way to mount it into a 2 DIN frame?
I was expecting to be blown away by this. In a way, perhaps I was. But to me the amazing features were the CANBUS integration, the machine learning running in realtime on the forward looking camera, and possibly even the driving alerts associated with that. In the end, you found the amazing bit to be resizing windows. This is a feature from Windows 3.1. I'm sure its a new thing, but its not what I would call amazing. Now truly amazing would be augmented reality on that front camera overlayed with nav. Or a HUD with this.
I have an older Android head unit in a Ford Ranger, with trims and everything. You can say its a gwneric one from Ali express. Is it safe to say that i can use this unit (with a correct screen size) and just replace "the screen" to gain all the performance upgrades?
Yes, you can now connect LED strips, OBD dongles and other bluetooth devices. The former limitations were lifted, so it's just like any smartphone when it comes to bluetooth connectability.
@@ElevatedVehicles If you get it properly fit, it's THE best android head unit without any doubt. In the system you can even select modes for the LED Strips, like which color at night or when reversing is used etc.

I think a bad connection in the wiring harness that came with the unit (the one containing 12V and ground). Do you happen to know what type of connector this is?... it's black and goes back into the Dudu7
Power cable. Can be bought for $2-10 in any country. Just ask for Android head unit power cable for your vehicle. Onw end is same for all vehicles which goes into the device and the other end is different for each vehicle.
You must get this all the time, but, with a 2016 xc60 T6 R design is it possible to keep the onboard system and integrate this DUDU7? Just to integrate that screen into a dash frame. I know I'm asking bit but you are the expert!
Question on Android head units in general: I am installing one in my wife's RVR, nice 10" screeen, etc. It comes with a GPS antenna. I'm wondering if this is of any use if you're using Google Maps or Waze and your phone is linked? Thanks.
I believe in the specd they have also upgraded to more robust specs for both the GPS and the microphone. The mic specs has noise cancelling, correct? How did the mic perform compared to other brands?
I only used the one they included so I can't give you any comparison, but there was zero audible feedback to person on the line, even with the volume high indicating good noise cancelling
I performed this test - I made a static sound and after a while device was starting to cancel it. :) so there's really a noise cancelling. Just to be clear - the voice isn't at the level of current phones, but you can it's totally audible and a step forward from the previous units.

I was going through some of your videos and you did some on Desaita head units, however they didn't make it to the short list you presented for 2023. Are the other units superior? The Desaita unit for a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid was recommended by GTA Car Kits, when I was looking for options. In terms of the canbus units are they all similar? Install a timer relay triggered by the acc wire!

It looked like you were limited to what type of application could be used as a widget, and I didn't see an OBDII application in the list, is this not possible?
Does the OBDII integration only work with DuDu's own OBDII adapter? This would be a shame since I already have a nice one.
My vehicle already has factory tire pressure sensors that I can read with my OBDII dongle, but I'd be surprised if DuDu7 would read that since it's vehicle manufacturer specific and they sell their own solution for that.

Looks like a great evolution in the androind head unit ecosystem, which I'm all for. However, it seems to have inherited (unless I have missed something -- though i double-checked multiple times) a rather significant shortcut in the equalizer / DSP setup. That being, the equalizer bands are global. You can't have a separate equalizer adjustment configuration for each output channel. To anybody who knows about audio tuning basics, this functionality is key towards proper system adjustment, because each individual speaker driver has its own response curve which is further distorted by mounting location and room dynamics... one of the main points of a DSP is to account for these individual variations, which is why it's so mystifying that they keep integrating these chips but omitting this functionality. If they could just get this implemented, it would go a long ways towards making expensive 3rd party DSPs obsolete for anybody but the staunchest of audio enthusiasts. Having messed with programming multiple equalizer chips in the past few years, I know for a fact that they almost universally do support per-channel adjustment, so the fact that head unit devs keep leaving this out is seriously disappointing. I'll be staying with my existing Teyes unit until and if this short-sightedness is rectified. I'd love to be able to sit down with my laptop and Room EQ Wizard, a calibrated mic, and dial a proper house curve into each audio channel. Having done this to my home systems, I know the improvement would be astronomical on its own, aside from the hardware quality of the unit itself. Oh, well. Fingers crossed for the future.
I do agree with this sentiment. Joying, for example, do allow for individual speaker setup, although some may argue that they've gone a bit too far because there isn't any option for global modification, and this makes things overly complicated and time consuming for the average user. After all, us audiophiles are a minority.
But completely omitting singular speaker setup is a bit lazy

T’eyes software seems to be hit or miss on if people like it and from the research I have done you kind of have to stay in that ecosystem if you want it to behave. On the other side, Mekede really needs to work on product information accessibility. I am having a heck of a time figuring out what pieces would do what I want and if what I already have will work.
Dudu7 is just miles ahead of Teyes.

Looks amazing, I have just upgraded to a topway TS10S from a TS18...I definitely should have waited for this to be available in the UK, this looks way better as the the TS10S has issues, mostly due to missing "Files" system app for DocumentsUI, so many players such as Smart audiobook player, and Musicolet just wont work as they won't scan external storage, apparently its an android 12 issue

Great video. Love the look of the headunit and the canbus compatibility with Saab. Will be looking into this as an upgrade from my current idoing unit.
The CANbus decoder is something you can add to any Android head unit with advanced CANbus capabilities, Mekede didn't supply that to me

Great video. I am just wondering how bright can it get? I live in a very sunny place of the world and I constantly have issues with screens that don't get bright enough
I bought a 9.5-inch Dudu 7 directly from the mekede seller and in addition to several things that I did not like, such as the screen is not black enough and dazzles the driver. The colors on the screen are oversaturated. Also the sound is very bad for my taste. Even with an external amplifier I couldn't achieve the live sound sensation I had with my previous unit. To say this I am comparing it with an S160 unit that I have had since 2013 that does not have these problems. And well, on top of that, after 45 days of sporadic use, my unit started restarting repeatedly and with a delay in booting the Android. There is undoubtedly a Ram or CPU problem that causes the system to reboot. The seller did not recognize my warranty so I lost my money. Sending the product from Argentina to China for review didn't make sense to me. Very expensive.

I saw your video and was very impressed with the unit, wanted to get one for my car, but one that fits the dashboard. I went through their website and it’s a mess, even their alibaba store is very confusing I didn’t know which unit to get. Tried emailing them to ask about the details and their answer after 3 days was “Hi”, they literally just replied saying hi. That doesn’t give me confidence in their aftersale or installation support honestly

Yes that USB C on the back is there for adaptors, such as HDMI for multiple screens
Looks good, but I'll have to get my USB volume knob back out of storage if i swap to this one.
I have a few questions.
1. I saw that the Bluetooth codec is aptxHD, compared to SBC. For my headphones, I can hear a difference, but can you hear it on your speakers? For me, I self host my music & play it on an app that is compatible with Android Auto called Symfonium, so I can stream my music in full lossless audio FLAC files
2. I was thinking of adding more expandable storage, so how much do they allow you to add?
3.I see that there is a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, what is it used for? Do you connect your phone to it, add expandable storage, etc.?
4. What other in-head units do you plan on covering? I saw in the comments below that you will cover the ATOTO X10, but what others do you plan on doing as well?

I pretty sure DSP SPDIF bypass won't bypass the Android limitation. But the USB audio out WILL if you connect it to a USB DSP such as the ifi Zen series which has it's own set of SPDIF outputs
@@SaabUnleashed The USB audio out is a game changer, open up a lot of possibility for external DSP.
The digital outputs are 48 kHz and have lower levels than the original signal. USB audio is better, level is not changed and outputs 96 kHz.

I don't entirely expect a reply, but here goes. I have a 2012 Ford F250. I'm looking at replacing the stock stereo with the God-awful Sync. But I don't want to lose the SWC and having access to CANBUS would be a plus. Were there additional modules that you had to purchase and install to get those to function. Not to mention, you said something about 360 cameras. Did you have to purchase those separate or were they also included.
An addition to my comment. The 360 camera is an additional purchase. I would advise to buy them with the radio at the same time because the 360 chip needs to be added to the radio buy Duduauto. If you buy the radio without the 360 camera, they won’t install the chip and you will end up without the option of installing their version of the 360 camera in the future.
I'm not impressed by all the gadgetry (music flow, car on the road, headlight indications etc.) with any head unit. I look for convenience and sound quality which this one has as you explained. Also important to me is wireless Android Auto and car integration. I have a T'Eyes in my Jeep Cherokee KL. The CC3 is not able to control the heated steering wheel. Thank you for this review. I am looking forward to seeing the new offering from T'Eyes.
As he explained, with Dudu7 Android Auto is rendered useless. It's casting pearls before swine because you can do everything that AA does but way better, e.g. in audio quality from direct source.
@SaabUnleashed , do you have any pictures or info about the mounting size/type and hardware included? I have browsed their alibaba site and even asked questions in the chat, but couldn't really get the info I need to check what size fits my car the best. Is it a 2DIN mount or something else? And how is the screen positioned up/down in relation to the mount? I am most interested in the 13" size, but need this info before making the purchase. Many other manufacturers have pretty solid info about this kind of things.

Both are are the top of the industry, but DUDU OS is currently the king. We'll see what the CC4 brings in Q1 2025

The Multi Window feature is native in Android. They have just made it usable in Auto.
Been waiting for this. That dudu operating system is apparently being beta tested on all sorts of styles of units. It may or may not make sense to try to get into that beta for something like an atoto or joying fyt 7862 unit and show off what the operating system is like on them vs the stock one perhaps.
I have the CC3 360 installed with frint and reverse cameras installed. Just waiting on a Golf mk6 facia plate.

Question: I was looking at getting an Atoto A6 PF but the manufacturer doesn't publish the 'off' current and from reports I've been told it's between 45mA and 50mA, which is rather high. I only get to use the car 2-3 times a week, sometimes less and that sort of current draw will flatten the battery pretty quickly.
Do you know of any 7" units which run Android and which have a more reasonable draw when off?

These Android radios don’t use the standard single/double din frames. I would suggest searching online for the Android headunit frame specific for your car. For example ‘Benz W164 Android frame’. Look out for the 9inch frame version for your car. 9inch Android frames are the universal fitting size for most Android headunits. For example, I ordered the 11.5 version of this radio and it came with a converter frame that attaches to the 9 inch frame of my car.
Great video. Can you do a follow up video on siziig the display for different cars and will the display float over the console or doess it have to be mounted into the cars console? My cl500 benz has a very unique wood console that limits what it can accept

hi there, nice video! just a (maybe dumb) question: how do you mechanicly mount the unit to your car? just got a 13 inch version in, trying to mount it to a 2021 renault master van..... cant really make sense of the plastic frames that came with the unit. any way to mount it into a 2 DIN frame?
I was expecting to be blown away by this. In a way, perhaps I was. But to me the amazing features were the CANBUS integration, the machine learning running in realtime on the forward looking camera, and possibly even the driving alerts associated with that. In the end, you found the amazing bit to be resizing windows. This is a feature from Windows 3.1. I'm sure its a new thing, but its not what I would call amazing. Now truly amazing would be augmented reality on that front camera overlayed with nav. Or a HUD with this.
I have an older Android head unit in a Ford Ranger, with trims and everything. You can say its a gwneric one from Ali express.

Yes, you can now connect LED strips, OBD dongles and other bluetooth devices. The former limitations were lifted, so it's just like any smartphone when it comes to bluetooth connectability.

If you get it properly fit, it's THE best android head unit without any doubt.
In the system you can even select modes for the LED Strips, like which color at night or when reversing is used etc.

Thanks for the video. I purchased the device but after a couple of days using it it does not start anymore. I think a bad connection in the wiring harness that came with the unit (the one containing 12V and ground). Do you happen to know what type of connector this is?... it's black and goes back into the Dudu7
Power cable. Can be bought for $2-10 in any country. Just ask for Android head unit power cable for your vehicle. Onw end is same for all vehicles which goes into the device and the other end is different for each vehicle.
You must get this all the time, but, with a 2016 xc60 T6 R design is it possible to keep the onboard system and integrate this DUDU7? Just to integrate that screen into a dash frame. I know I'm asking bit but you are the expert!

I believe in the specd they have also upgraded to more robust specs for both the GPS and the microphone. The mic specs has noise cancelling, correct? How did the mic perform compared to other brands?
I only used the one they included so I can't give you any comparison, but there was zero audible feedback to person on the line, even with the volume high indicating good noise cancelling
I performed this test - I made a static sound and after a while device was starting to cancel it. :) so there's really a noise cancelling. Just to be clear - the voice isn't at the level of current phones, but you can it's totally audible and a step forward from the previous units.

I was going through some of your videos and you did some on Desaita head units, however they didn't make it to the short list you presented for 2023. Are the other units superior? The Desaita unit for a 2017 Toyota Rav 4 Hybrid was recommended by GTA Car Kits, when I was looking for options. In terms of the canbus units are they all similar?

The beta allows for 2 options. Full screen or a pop up. Pop up allows you to continue to use the device.
No, you can still react to other apps etc while calling. However, there are some limits, eg.g. pertaining to sound during calls.
