I'm thrilled to find your video and recipe! My grandmother used to make this lovely rock candy at Christmas time, and though there are other recipe videos out there, this one is the most helpful and precise. I also love the idea of using a pizza cutter to score the candy .Thank you!
@@thekitchenprescription1821I''ve just finished making my first batch and it turned out perfect! I scored the candy with my pizza cutter as you suggested and it broke apart in perfect little squares. ❤ I would say you definitely need a good candy thermometer-- but using mine and following your directions, it's a foolproof recipe. Thanks again-- can't wait to gift this candy to family!
@@astridexplorer5096 I’m so thrilled you enjoyed the recipe. It can be tricky for sure but with enough repetition it really becomes easier each time. I always use my candy thermometer and (knock on wood) haven’t had a bad batch yet. It’s such a nostalgic candy to make for Christmas and share with family and friends. Thank you for reporting your experience and results back with the recipe. I appreciate your support of the channel.
I love how instead of pouring it out onto cookie sheets, and breaking it up with a butter knife like my Mom did. You use a mat and a pizza cutter!!! Very smart and a lot less waste.
Thanks Kelly. Merry Christmas. I hope you have a blessed holiday. Making this candy reminds me so much of your mom and takes me back to the magic of Christmas.
I've never tested the recipe using Splenda so I'm sorry but I can't answer your question. You can maybe try a small batch and see if it works. If so, come back and let us know, you might be able to help someone else out who has the same question. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Michelle, I pour my candy onto silicone in the video, so yes silicone molds will work but make sure they are silicone. The hot candy will melt plastic for sure! Hope that helps and thanks for watching the channel.
I know I’m late, but there is no video’s whatsoever on how to make hard candy 😑 thank you for making one that’s actually understandable!!! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
I appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment on my video. When someone makes and edits videos, it automatically opens oneself up to some harsh criticism, so I appreciate your kind words. Be well and blessed.
Hi Diane. It's hard for me to answer that question with accuracy without know more details. Are you talking 160 Celcius or Farenheight? Are you using organic or granulated sugar. Is the sugar fairly fresh or old? When you melt sugar it often turns a golden color due to the impurities in the sugar. I found a really good article on some the reasons and I'm leaving the link for anyone's reference. I hope this helps. www.leaf.tv/articles/why-did-my-boiling-sugar-turn-yellow/
Hi Brittany. It depends if you're using an oil or flavoring. The oils are much stronger. I explained that all in the description and you can visit my website for the full recipe. ua-cam.com/users/redirect?event=video_description&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbkFwSjJHMXZKdWR0dm5ZTWs1YThkQ0ZEdWRFQXxBQ3Jtc0trMHZQSTdQaE1BbkpDdFZFa09yLTIzZENjRUNZU29adVFqeXFvRXAtLTBsUjV0RjQ0NUIzcDV3bEI1R2hPR3BLVWh1TjhKeXZUWnNNOUJlMURSSmxKcUNGOGJ2SkxWbzBRNHN3NlllTWdwVlRua2haSQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Fthekitchenprescription.com%2F2014%2F12%2F14%2Fhow-to-make-hard-tack-candy%2F&v=Z5rU4xzXjFQ
You might be wound a bit too tight. I literally made some elf cartoon entertainment sharing a recipe and a negative person( ie you) always comes to ruin the day. I stated in the video it’s not for kids and extremely hot and dangerous. I’m not responsible for what parents let their children do. Your negativity and rudeness is not welcome here. Do it again and you’re blocked.

Awe, I loved reading that nostalgic sentiment. Thank you for your sweet comment and support of the channel. Merry Christmas & happy candy 🍭 making!🎄🎁

will this work using Splenda for the sugar ?

Yes
Beautiful pieces, and thank you for the pizza cutter tip!!
Thank you for watching and commenting. Happy Holidays!
Will they work in silicone molds?
Yeah
Michelle, I pour my candy onto silicone in the video, so yes silicone molds will work but make sure they are silicone. The hot candy will melt plastic for sure! Hope that helps and thanks for watching the channel.
@ the ones Michael’s sells. Are they real silicon?
I know I’m late, but there is no video’s whatsoever on how to make hard candy 😑 thank you for making one that’s actually understandable!!! Merry Christmas! 🎄🎁
Thank you very much. It’s very easy once you get the hang of it. Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays! Thanks for watching and commenting.
Super cool video! Love it ❤️❤️

Oh mylanta. Lose the computer voice.
It’s a little late for that now. But thanks for your opinion.
My doctor said mylanta.
Ditch the mylanta thing. You sound foolish af.
Oh wow
Love the computer voice. So cute!! Xoxo♥️♥️
Thank you. I think it annoyed some people. I thought it was a cute addition for the Christmas series videos.
You can use molds as well
Yes.Molds are another great idea. They just need to make sure the molds are silicone so they won’t melt.
I use trays i got on Amazon and they look like gemstones.
That is also a great idea Staci. I've seen others do that and they are beautiful. Thanks for watching and commenting.
What's the trays called
Mine is still gooey how long until it’s hard?
Did you use a candy thermometer? I can't really help you without more specific information, and I'm sorry you had issues.
I’m going to try to do this and make them look like crystals
Thanks for watching. Hope you give it a try. Crystals are a great idea. Very festive and actually delicious & pretty any time of year.
Why does my candy start turn golden while cooking. It happens at around 160* and I have it on low heat?

How much oil ?

Why would you make a cartoon out of this serious business where children can be burned?
You might be wound a bit too tight. I literally made some elf cartoon entertainment sharing a recipe and a negative person( ie you) always comes to ruin the day. I stated in the video it’s not for kids and extremely hot and dangerous. I’m not responsible for what parents let their children do. Your negativity and rudeness is not welcome here. that was terrifying
You mean like your rude comment? This is a happy place keep your miserable attitude to your own damn self.
You mean like your sister’s sexual past?
This is a happy space. Take your miserable self and attitude somewhere else.
What kind of pad is that ..I listened over and over having a hard time knowing what your saying
Sorry about that. It's Silpat... a silicone mat. I left a link in the description as well. Thank you for your comment.
