Bon Jovi just became the first artists to have three singles that were released in three different decades to reach over a billion views each on the same channel. Not counting views from alternate uploads of the songs: It's My Life (2000), Livin' on a Prayer (1986), Always (1994). All three were released before YT's existence.

There's a reason everyone knows his name. They're an incredible band with incredible songs. I saw them during their New Jersey tour in a small city in Wyoming. Small venue (only about 15K), but they performed like they were in front of 100,000. Amazing show. Consummate entertainers. Legend.

You just listened to Bon Jovi's anthem! Amazing song! That incredible guitarist is Richie Sambora. Jon and Richie were a magical duo, writing the amazing songs and just incredible performances! Their concerts were wonderful! They packed stadiums every time and rocked! Jon Bon Jovi is the ultimate performer! You should definitely check out some of their concert videos, especially Dry County from Wembley in 1995, or Always from that same concert. Also Keep The Faith from Giants Stadium in 2001!

My husband and I werent huge fans of Bon Jovi, didnt own any albums. I was shopping while he was in the car with our son. He hunted me down in the store and said he just heard a song on the radio and we had to go to Tower Records as soon as I was finished getting groceries. Saw the video on MTV that night. That song took them to a new level.

@@josephvoytus3694 - Dude, every time the "steel horse" lyric was sung, it was a different vehicle shown in the video... private jets, limos, tour buses, etc. Pretty sure it's non-specific, except that they are referring to modern day transportation rather than horses.
And of course there's the "loaded six-string" instead of a six-shooter. It's an allegorical song about the lonely traveling life of a cowboy, juxtaposed with the crazy life traveling around as a rock star.

Bon Jovi is 80s music for me! They helped define what music became in the 80s. From arena rock anthems like Livin On A Prayer, to the monster ballads like this song or I'll Be There For You. Slippery When Wet album is fire from front to back, and so is New Jersey. Young Guns II Soundtrack (Jon goes solo for this one) is also a must album for anyone who wants to hear some of Jon's best work. Also, you can't only give credit to Jon, without Ritchie Sambora, you don't have Bon Jovi, his writing and background vocals along with his guitar playing were complimentary to Jon's lead.

Bon Jovi was pretty dang huge, still going too.
Axeman Richie Sambora on lead guitars 🎸, Alec John Such bass, Tico Torres drums, David Bryan keyboards, JBJ lead.
Richie has incredible vocals, will sometimes lead this song in concert.
Have seen them multiple times, 80s 90s 00s10s. We'd the best music, think of it this way, Music and TV were our social media.
Not in this video, but diff band altogether, was in a huge audience in Denver back in the day. Can't see me but we were there. 😂

TOPCHEF said it probably the best way you can. That said, I’ve seen Bon Jovi Twice as a band. Both late 80s. Once on his own. All 3 times He ROCKED the house down. He is nothing,if not the most Professional Rock artist still today. He was once quoted saying, after Justin Bieber missed some shows, and was showing up late to concerts, “ Get Your Lazy Ass to Work Kid”! I loved that about him. He knew people paid money to see that artist perform. So if you weren’t doing the “musical” job YOU picked , and people paid to see… Well that’s just the guy Jon Bon Jovi is!!

This song is off of there biggest selling album "Slippery When Wet". The video tells the tale of just how much touring they did to promote the album that is why they look so worn out in the video. The steel horse he rides is not a motorcycle as you had said but father that plane that was in the video. Taking them from one place to the other on there none stop concert tour. As he said in the song. "I've seen a million faces and I have rocked them all". Pretty much true again with all the concerts for that one record they made that changed there lives forever.

Yes, they were everywhere, had hit after hit after hit, on MTV 24/7, great in the studio & live & are still going (without Richie Sambora, though). One of the biggest bands ever. Jon Bon Jovi also beloved because of his charity work. He owns 1-2 restaurants in NJ that are 'pay what you can', that serves people in need free meals every day. He does a lot of great work.

MILES bigger than Motley Crue, Poison etc. Commercially they were huge plus unlike most 80s hard rock bands they managed to slightly reinvent their sound and keep cranking out hits deep into the 90s. Their back catalogue is impressive and few bands can rival them for pure number of hits. I was into slightly heavier, less popular bands, but you had to respect these guys.

2:57 Bon Jovie's cool. 'Slippery when wet' was the best album he put out. Almost every song on that album was a hit. It's a must in every music collection. Where did he Rank? He's in the mix. It depends on your mood for the day & what you feel like listening to that day.
5:18 Richie Sambora. It got pretty stressful in the later years. Richie felt like he wasn't getting enough credit for all the work he put in, so he puts out a solo album to show his talent. (Richie Sambora - Ballad Of Youth) was a monster hit off that album. I still listen to it from time to time.

Their debut album has "Runaway", but it was not until 1986's "Slippery When Wet" made them HUGE that things took off for them. I'd say they were bigger than most of the 80's bands after 1986, and Guns n Roses had "Appetite For Destruction"(1987), but only one other album in the 80's with the only hit, ballad "Patience". 1991+ produce "hit" covers and "November Rain". Van Halen, Def Leppard and U2 were big in the 80's also. U2 has their own sound that diverges from rock(more percussive guitar than melodic), and I would not put their musicianship or vocals quality that high - I would say they're more Pop than Rock. R.E.M. was big, but their sound is so different than what I consider "Rock Bands".
In the 80's there were bands from the 70's still popular producing hit songs and albums such as Journey, Styx, Foreigner, Rush, Heart, Yes, Boston, The Who, AC/DC, Dire Straits, Bruce Springsteen & E Street, Chicago, Fleetwood Mac, REO Speedwagon, Eagles, Queen, and Van Halen.

I have seen them twice. Both times in the early 2000's. Easily top 3 of all the concerts I've been to. I got my moneys worth both times. Jon not long ago had a throat procedure that may allow him to sing again as his voice had been on the decline for some time. The band were all consummate musicians who never missed a beat. Richie Sambora, the lead guitarist quit the band (or was let go) several years ago. I've heard rumors they may reunite. In their prime they compared with any other band.

Tour bus or plane...not motorcycle. Bon Jovi (the band) was huge...and Jon was massively popular

I think that intro guitar lick had some assistance from a synthesizer.

Check out the Official video for Lay your Hands on me to get a feel for an 80s Bonjovi concert. They lost there high performances in the 90s and became a popular radio band churning out average stuff. Guns and Roses came on the scene and dominated before grunge rock sidelined just about all the 80s metal bands.
