The girl in the video was actress Tawny Kitaen. She was in 3 Whitesnake videos, and was the dream of every adolescent boy in the 80's. Whitesnake videos were a mainstay on MTV primarily due to her. She was actually married to David Coverdale, the lead singer of Whitesnake, for a couple of years. Unfortunately, she embodied the "sex, drugs, & rock and roll" mantra of this era, and died a few years ago at age 59 mainly as a result of her lifestyle back during that time. Whitesnake had a nice run over a couple of years, especially in Europe, but never achieved the sustainability of other bands like Def Leppard, Guns N Roses, and Bon Jovi. Coverdale was generally considered to have one of the best natural rock voices of his time, and went on later to have some success with Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page in a "Coverdale/Page" duo.
“Still of the night” is an absolute must
Guys, Whitesnake got together in London in '78 and formed the band after lead singer, David Coverdale left Deep Purple. They finally hit it big in '87 when MTV played 3 songs, "Here I Go Again", "Is This Love" and "Still Of The Night" off their self titled "Whitesnake" album. As far as popularity they never achieved huge fame, they had a decent 2-3 year run in the U.S. from '86-'88.
That just about covers it! 😄
Still touring today. Recently played in Japan, 60,000 people. Still very popular live.
True but was HUGE overseas headlining festivals. Slide It In was the album before this one and that’s their best rock album pre hair metal!
“Still Of The Night “ is great!!! And they have many greats!!
John Sykes did most of the guitar work on the audio recording but by the time came to make videos he and Coverdale had had a falling out.
The guitarists in the video are Adrian Vandenberg and Vivian Campbell. Viv moved onto Def Leppard around 1992/93 where’s he’s happily been ever since.
IN THE STILL OF THE NIGHT!! Ranked very high!!
Fool For Your Loving- Whitesnake. Guys, this was another big hit by them in the 80s. Upbeat song bet both of you would like it! They were as big as any 80s hair band not named Bon Jovi or Def Leppard.
Still of the night is a must!
Still of the Night is great!!
Not one mention (nor reaction) of the iconic Tawny?!? Shockiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing
Must be gay lol
I love whitesnake my cousin was playing this song when I got hooked on them been a fan ever since.definitely very popular in the 80s check out still of the night and is love, there are so many good songs by whitesnake
A kick-ass rock 🎵 song! Great band to appreciate...today!
Hair Bands...had control, and if evervsaw them Live..left arema ears ringing, new friends, and feeling 10 years younger!
After this album was recorded, Coverdale fired everyone and basically made a supergroup with Adrian Vandenberg (of Vandenberg), Rudy Sarzo (of Quiet Riot), Tommy Aldridge (of Ozzy and BOA), and Vivian Campbell (of Dio and now Def Leppard).
They are from England. Check out their other hits "Is This Love" and "Still of the Night".
Early Whitesnake was very bluesy type of rock. It wasn't until the mid 80s that David Coverdale decided to go to a more modern hard rock style to appeal to an American audience. This is the newer version. If you listen to the original version, the song is a lot more mellow and not as rocking. Whitesnake was huge in the late 1980s, especially after this album came out. Just as big as Bon Jovi, Def Lepperd, etc. Check out "Still of the Night", one of my all time favorite hard rocks tracks. That song rocks!!!!
I hate the first version, this one is much better
Great jam!!
I'm a big White Snake fan. Check out Still of the Night. It is there best aong.
Underrated, super-group, and even better live, by my account. Performed their hits in cover bands, on keys and backing vocals, during the late 80's and beyond. 😊 Love you guys! Peace
Gosh…tawny was gorgeous with a capital G
Tawny Kitaen made this video a must see on MTV back in the day! Many a guy’s fantasy! Also married to the lead singer David Coverdale for awhile.
"Fool For Your Loving" and "Still of the Night" should be next..
I wasn't a huge Whitesnake fan, but this song and Still of the Night were pure gold in the 80s. Radio version the rhythm section is Heart's Mark Andes and Denny Carmassi. And Tawny Kitaen. She was a gymnast in school, before Whitesnake was Ratt's Robin Crosby girl, on the cover of Ratt's Out of the Cellar. Bless her Heart. Not only memorable in these videos but loved her as an actress. RIP Tawny.
As people have commented before, In the still of the night is an absolute must! Bad boys is also a banger! And all first four albums!! 🤘🏻💯💯
React The Final Countdown - Europe
They were so popular in the 80’s I met them at a truck stop in Ohio when I worked there in high shcool so cool
This album has a heavier edge that is heavier than what most of the bands were doing at the time. And these guys were older than most of the other bands back than.
I liked Whitesnake’s 1978 - 1986 era when they were more Blues Rock. “Here I Go Again”, “Fool For Your Lovin’” were remakes from their earlier lineup. “Walking In The Shadow Of The Blues”, “Don’t Break My Heart Again” and “Blindman” are all great songs. “Blindman” from the Ready An’ Willing album is one of my favorite songs of all time!
I had this album on cassette when I was 16- the entire thing is amazing. Perhaps my favorite cheesy lyric ever is in "Cryin' in the Rain": "the sun is shining, but it's raining in my heart!"
Just like everyone mentions, "Still of the Night" is unreal- it exploded my mind when I first heard it.
I have a theory that Tawny Kitaan is likely the most masturbated to woman to ever exist from the 4 or so videos she is in around this time that got constant MTV play.
Unfortunately, John Sykes did most of the guitar work on the album, and then he got kicked out of band just before the album was released and then blew up. This is similar to Metallica's first album, which is amazing and different than their others due to the strong Dave Mustaine influences on it, and he got kicked out just before its release, as well.
Fire!!!!
Yeah I hesitated on whether or not to mention that.
Shoot… you got Adrian Vandenburg and Vivian Campbell on guitar. It’s always gonna be fire.
You guys will find " slow n easy" a GREAT whitesnake song
Still of the night!!!!
Shoutout to John Sykes who was instrumental in whitesnake sound !
Try Love ain't no stranger
Good band, not super over till this album. I believe in 1987....EVERYBODY had this album. Check out Still of the Night by them.
Now You’re Gone is an awesome tune as well
Tawney Katain not sure of spelling was my favorite video chic
Singers not my favorite but gets the job done lol he’s one of the most notable vocalists in rock.
Was discovered at 19 and led the biggest rock group in the world in the 70’s (Deep Purple) as a teenager performing in front of 100,000’s of people at a time!
Whitesnake was around since 1975 and was HUGE in Europe with Ozzy Osborne opening for them. They finally conquered America with this album.
Excellent song
How about Led Zeppelin's "Stairway to Heaven".
Have you done “Child In Time” from Deep Purple yet? If not the live 1970 version recorded for the BBC is a MUST! One of the greatest performances of all time!
Classic
😎👍
This song is ok. Try still of the night. Their bestost popular song
I actually preferred the single version of this song. Didn't start slow, drums from the first bar. Was more commercial but a better vibe. The only hits in Australia were this one (single version) and Is This Love.
Slow and easy is another song by whitesnake
Tawny was so hot, R.I.P. Honey.
They are from England
Vandenberg (Adrian, lead guitarist)
is from The Hague, The Netherlands.
What about the chic?????
This album is ok. EVERYBODY is IGNORING ALL the songs on "SLIDE IT IN"...... MUST DO ANY Song from that album... That is THE ALBUM.....
Oh they have so many better songs than this one.
